We thoroughly enjoyed the delicious and decadent Surf and Turf burger. It was topped with a beautiful seafood blend of unctuousness that complimented the beef patty. We ordered it medium rare and it was a bit over but was still juicy. We also had the Grouper sandwich prepared blackened. The sandwich was also very good and the fish was cooked to perfection but it needed more seasoning--we added a kick of hot sauce to spice it up a bit. From the moment we walked in, we were seated in rockstar seating right next to the band, which instantly set the tone for an unforgettable night. We had an ok experience at Broken Keel. It started out good and then somehow our order got lost in the kitchen or it was never entered into the system. Our server let us know and we were playing a game so we didn't really notice how long it was taking for our food to come out. Once he told us it still took almost another 30 minutes. During our visit it rained multiple times and the weather started to cool off. We asked for the heaters (above our heads) to be turned on and the manager offered to turn them on and bring us blankets. We waited and waited and had to ask again for this to actually happen. We also asked for something to munch on since our food was taking so long. They brought chips and salsa which was great but in our opinion that should have come as soon as they realized our order was lost. Once our food arrived we enjoyed it but we were so ready to leave and our stay just kept getting drawn out. We had to track down our server to get our check and we got 10% off our bill. We felt like that was pretty measly considering what happened. We ended up being at the restaurant for almost three hours. The atmosphere is great and the food was good but unfortunately our experience wasn't the best. We'll probably skip it next time we're in town. read more

Everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. Unfortunately, the service didn't match the food. It took about 8-10 minutes just to be acknowledged at the bar, and once we were, things didn't improve much. We didn't get refills on our water, and we weren't given any silverware--we actually had to go find it ourselves. So while the food and ambiance were great, the service was disappointing. The strawberry summer salad was paltry and unimpressive for $17. The surf and turf burger, which sounded delicious enough on the menu that I was willing to spend $26 was not at all delicious. An extremely overcooked patty, a layer of that thin, bland bisque, a single shrimp, and a few sparse chunks of seafood all combined to create the most tasteless and unenjoyable burger I've had in quite some time. Came here late Saturday afternoon and without a wait, sat on their patio with a view of the river. We ordered drinks, unfortunately they were out of mint and jalapeños, so I opted to not getting anything to drink. To compensate, our friendly waitress did give us a discount on our bill (so sweet). Was brought back a non-itemized check to sign after they ran my card for $95. I asked if I received a different tables check. We were greeted upon entry and seated immediately! We went during restaurant week so we inquired if they were still participating as the Restaurant Week menu was not provided. The dining area is kinda dark and gives an old tavern feel which is normal for downtown. We were given the menu and advised that they were out of the crab cake sliders which is one of the main items we wanted to try. I ordered the grouper bites they were fresh, hot and crispy and a good portion. My friend ordered the seafood nachos they were really salty. Worst service I've ever received from a restaurant. 1.) We had reservations at 6:15 for only 6 people. We arrived at 6:08 and requested to sit outside. The hostess said we had two parties ahead of us. I told her we had reservations. She then said to me "at 6:15, it's 6:08." I said "ok, as long as we are seated by 6:15. 2.) The waitress did not put our food in correctly and the appetizers came out at different times. She admitted and apologize for it. 3.) we did not receive our food until 8:00. Several items were wrong, my shrimp tacos were cold, and two members in our party did not get their meals at all. So they requested it to-go. We watched several parties come after us, get their food, pay and leave before us. 4.) Still waiting for the to-go meals, we asked for the check because we had somewhere else to be. We all paid and after waiting for an additional 15 mins for the "paid for" to-go meals (which should have been eaten at the restaurant, but never came), I went to find a manger. 5.) I spoke with the manager and she said she would check on it and she never came back. So, we went to the hostess stand and told them that although we paid for two additional meals, that we never received, we walked out. 6.) I guess after we left the manager put the order in again, instead of removing it from the already paid check, because after checking our account the next day. We were charged twice for the two meals we never receive. 7.) The waitress was horrible, but since we had 6 in our party, we were charged 20% gratuity. Which we paid and didn't complain about.
