The museum inside the JW is pretty amazing. We were just walking along the riverside, which is pleasant, and wandered into the JW. Spent about 15 minutes looking at the free exhibits. Didn't try any restaurants so can only comment on the museum. Enjoy! read more

Super touristy spot, which is great if you're from out of town or have visitors from out of town. I love the addition of outdoor seating options around the area, and appreciate the indoor sight seeing during the hot months. Food and beverage options are on the price side in this area, but there's something for everyone here. Families, couples, older adults and any one in between will stumble upon something that makes it worth their time. There are also events that take place around plant riverside, so be sure to check out what's going on. Also a cool place to start your morning jog or catch a yoga class. read more

I stayed in the JW Marriott hotel in this area (reviewed separately). This is a beautiful, revitalized, if not a bit touristy, part of Savannah that I enjoyed. While the restaurants for the most part are nothing to write home about (several of which I also reviewed separately), the ambiance and beautiful riverfront dining is. This is a multi-purpose area. There are chairs to sit outside and enjoy music and watch the ships pass by. A splash pad. There is a large event venue. Restaurants range from pizza/Italian, Mexican/tacos, a rooftop bar, gelato, a chophouse. There is a burger place, a biergarten, seafood. A few places that sell art and some exhibits by artists in residence. Shopping includes jewelry, cookies, outdoor/clothing/apparel, and other boutiques. A great place to walk, browse, people watch, and just relax, and is nearby the main hub of Savannah. read more

I had a three day reservation. I had cold water and reported it for the first two days and nothing was repaired. Then went on the third day asked to speak with a manager. They treated me as if I was crazy and they move to another room, which meant that I had to pack all my things. The water was cold in that room also. I complained again missed my plans for the entire evening and the technician that came up said that they had had multiple complaints about no hot water and that he had reset the boiler and finally it was warm. The problem that I have about this whole thing was the customer service. They treated me as if I was wrong and if I was complaining, I have not taken a cold shower yet in three days yet I'm paying extra extraordinary amounts of money to stay here. I would never stay here again. This is the worst experience mostly because of the customer service, even including the manager Sapphire Brooks who actually treated me as if I was lying as if I really wanted to move to another room. It's really the worst experience I've ever had in my entire life at a hotel unbelievable. read more

October 19 & November 29 This is the newer section of the River Front in Downtown Savannah. They have better shops,JW Marriott and cleaner. The first time we came here we were on the Ghost Tour Trolly and they stopped here to see the haunted ship chandelier that took place. The second time we had guests in town that didn't want to walk so we drove through this area. I was surprised they didn't want to walk around and or shop. To each his own. Definitely will be back again soon to eat, drink and make merry! read more

It's a fun place to visit. The river views are impressive. It's a place you can explore without venturing far and no vehicles. Now I did not see the hotels and some of the food kind of looked Resort quick service., it was fun to visit and would probably do again read more

Plant Riverside District is owned by Marriott. If you're looking for local, this ain't it. The whole complex feels very manufactured, almost like a movie set. It's definitely nice, don't get me wrong. It's like a cruise on land. Everything you could possibly need is in this little district--sushi, Mexican, pizza, seafood, etc. But if you never leave, you won't experience Savannah. We would go to a million other places before we ate again at any of the restaurants at Plant Riverside District. Please don't make the same mistake we did. Go somewhere local! read more

I would hope Yelp will re-categorize Plant Riverside, because it's not a "lounge" but more akin to a mall/multi-use complex. I have a degree in architectural history and an especial interest in power plant architecture, so honestly I am a pretty tough customer for things like this--I often find adaptive reuse of industrial structures wanting because often the industrial basis of the structure is erased or not fully explained in the reuse. Not here, I had an informal tour today by a staff member and was very impressed with the lengths they've gone to in order to retain the diverse history of the former power plant--built in 1912 and in use amazingly until 2005--but also the history of Savannah as a port. The multi-use facility consists of several buildings centered around a hotel but containing a variety of restaurants, shops, and a couple bars. There will apparently be a music venue/theatre, also but that's still very much under construction. The restaurants are not all yet open but a seafood bar, BBQ restaurant, Starbucks, and a few others are up and running. They will be joined by an ice cream stand, a popsicle stand also, a high-end steakhouse, and more. The interior atrium which was the former turbine hall houses a collection of gems and rocks plus a massive sculpture of a dinosaur native to America and smaller dino-themed sculptures and artwork. The treatment of the riverwalk section was especially impressive: it flows well into the extant riverwalk and also contains at its far western end a park dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. I ate at the seafood restaurant and deem it good, as well. A lot could have gone wrong with this project or it could have come in sub-par or not in accord with its surroundings, but it didn't. It brought out the best of its site with flair and imagination--it's the sort of development I'd expect in New Orleans, Charlotte, or Atlanta. It seriously raises the bar for development in Savannah. read more

I only recently discovered this area of Savannah. It's surrounding the old nuclear plant and has been turned into a swanky shopping and eating area with the amazing Webster's chop house, beer garden and more! Today we came down for the Savannah Christmas Market and boat parade. The Christmas market will be going on until January. I highly recommend you make your way down here. This old electrical plant in downtown Savannah has been converted into a first-class hotel and convention center in the heart of the riverfront district in downtown Savannah, Georgia. Visitors can walk through the facility along the riverfront walk to experience all of the local shops along river street. Parking is below level. Plant riverside district is a lovely promenade in Savannah. It's got beautiful brick buildings with glass kiosks and open gazebos .They've done a wonderful job adding new places while keeping the aesthetics tied to our charming city. Lots of places to eat and relax here ! There's a beautifully located Starbucks where you can just pick up your coffee and sit outside watching the ships go by . Hankering for some seafood like me (always!!) ? No worries - you've got low country broil and a sushi kiosk! Just feel like a snack ? - there's Brunswick cafe. They also have Savannah Square pops - all natural, fresh and delicious popsicles . This is a lovely walk along riverside and a place to just de-stress with a stroll and relax while watching the waters. Oh and did I mention, it's completely dog friendly and you can take your fur babies along with you to all these places ! To summarize, it's a lovely new addition to riverside and I highly recommend visiting ! read more

Lots of places along the River. The Rocks inside the marriot are stunning. The art gallery is awesome too. So much to see. Walk along the River , follow it outside for downtown Savannah. I love this setting! It has so much to offer with outdoor and indoor options. This area is perfect for a leisure stroll for me time or a romantic dinner for two and everything in between. Great place to go for fun or just plain hang out!! Great atmosphere and great drinks from the bar

Stayed here last night and I'm so glad we are staying another night! I wish I could stay a whole week here, and just live in the room alone. It's noon, and I still haven't left my room yet because it is so quiet, so cozy and so comfy! The decor is fabulous to say the very least. The bed sleeps like a cloud, with it's incredibly soft down comforter! I loved my view of the river, and the two red towers glowing at night. This hotel, is Devine. And the staff has been incredible. I'll never stay anywhere else when I'm downtown! I can't wait to try out the restaurants! read more

We recently stayed a few nights at the JW Marriott that is the focal point of the Plant Riverside District, as it's the historic electric plant being referred to in the word "plant" even though it's now been repurposed into a beautiful hotel. The area runs along River Dr which is an old cobblestone road loaded with lots of restaurants... Many are good, but there are many more that are very "touristy."  Then again, the area is loaded with those visiting the area, as well as many locals too. If you're looking for a nice evening out, stop in at the JW Marriott and tour the main level, it's basically a museum, loaded with incredible art from different genres from African to Historic Savannah.  Then grab dinner at one of the MANY eateries within this area, owned by the Kessler Group, who owns this Marriott property and finally, hit one of the roof top bars in one of the Marriott buildings. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this area and walked it daily and nightly! read more

We live in Savannah and love Downtown Savannah. The Plant Riverside District is my favorite. It is decorated with beautiful Christmas lights. There are decorated Kiosks where you have a chance to buy beautiful Christmas gifts. I highly recommend paying a visit to Plant Riverside District. read more

After a beautiful walk down River Street it ended at Plant Riverside District. Beautiful indoor and outdoor options for food and drinks. There was free love entertainment outside with a band and an aerial arts act. Everything was new, clean and beautiful. Also enjoyed great service and view from the rooftop bar. read more
