We had an amazing New Year's Eve dinner. Our server Kimber was friendly and welcoming. Cozy setting, great food, and drinks.

Atmosphere is nice, service is nice the kitchen is horrible. Told the waiter I could not sub chicken in my quesadilla even though it was on the menu. Burger was asked for medium and it came out super salty with a stale bun that breaks in your hand. Would not recommend unfortunately. read more

My husband and I went there this evening and we were so pleasantly surprised by the excellent service we received from Helen. Helen told us she is 21 years old, but her manners were impeccable. She was so polite and courteous. My husband and I both were very impressed with her and how gracious her service was The food was good. Our order got mixed up slightly, but she quickly corrected it and apologized for the mistake. We will definitely be back. Thank you Helen for the wonderful service and making our evening lovely. read more

If you can't climb stairs, don't bother coming here. Although it is handicap accessible, the only elevator to the dining space is owned by the hotel and requires a pass to access it. So you either have to ask a server to help you to the only restrooms on the ground level or you go down and up a set of steep stairs from the second level. Also this is a loud bar with some interesting twists on typical bar food. They have a cheeseburger, and fish and chips, but they also include some local flavors like crab cage sliders and lobster Mac and cheese. But it is LOUD inside and out. So if your idea is a quiet intimate dinner with friends, look elsewhere. Too loud and food is "okay." Not overwhelmed. read more

Sorry, but our experience here was not good! We had the burger, redfish tacos, gumbo, lobster bisque, caesar salad with shrimp and buffalo chicken sandwich. First, the fish tacos had about two tablespoons of filling, including the fish. I have honestly had better tacos from taco bell. The gumbo wasn't eatable. Tasted like it was sitting on a burner all day in the bottom of the pot. The lobster bisque just seemed to be a thick cream soup with not much flavor. The chicken sandwich wasn't good. Part of the piece of chicken was just fatty. The margarita tasted like it was made with just sour mix and the captain and coke was very weak. They took the gumbo and lobster bisque off the check, but it was taken off the wrong person's check. At that point we worked it out amongst ourselves. Our server was very sweet, but overwhelmed with multiple large groups. The outside seating was the best thing as it overlooks River Street. Unfortunately, we wouldn't recommend this place with so many other places to choose from. read more

We just spent 3 days at the River Street Inn and found ourselves dining repeatedly at Broken Keel. Great joint. Nice live music and the outdoor bar area overlooks the river and the riverwalk. Decent prices and tasty food. Best of all, we kept getting waited on by Kitana, and she took great care of us at breakfast, lunch and dinner. I think she works 24 hrs a day, but she was great for the days we were there. Highly recommend this place, especially if you like seafood. read more

The service, food and drinks were acceptable. Although I would NOT recommend coming here as they are doing construction in the dining area. It is incredibly loud and obnoxious. I have no idea why the owners allow construction in the dining area during service hours. read more

Wonderful menu, atmosphere and friendly staff! Pricing was in line with the area and the drinks were just right.

Excellent food great view and great live music for a lazy Sunday afternoon. Will was an excellent bartender!

Out of ..... seasoning ? and fish and chips, and lobster mac and cheese. Grouper sandwich was pretty very bland. I added the tartar sauce on there but other than that, basically tastes how fish smells. Server was nice, giving benefit of the doubt, Sunday after the 4th so probably just ran out of everything. Still sad experience for a first visit. 2 of these sandwiches and 1 drink - does not add up to $68 read more

Broken Keel - Grilled grouper sandwich - Seafood Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

I had the fried grouper sandwich, nothing special and the chips were so so. My husband had the fried fish basket, nothing great.

When my wife and I came looking for Tubby's on our yearly trip to Savannah we were saddened that another restaurant was in its place; but the Broken Keel is a worthy replacement. It's the exact same layout as the restaurant prior to its existence, but different in its own right. They had nice, live guitar music and sports on TVs. The service was extremely attentive and our drinks consistently refilled. The food was phenomenal. I got the blackened red fish tacos and my wife got the brisket nachos; I don't try to exaggerate the truth but both dishes were some of the best we've had in awhile. My only gripes and reasoning for not a 5/5: - the portion of my fish tacos could've been better for the price (only two small tacos for $16). - the interior was very warm and not well temperature controlled and at times we got a little uncomfortable. The Broken Keel has restored this location as a pleasant eatery - highly recommend. read more

Mandie our server was awesome! And the grouper tacos were amazing!! (Her recommendation). After a long day and flight in, this was a great place to sit outside, enjoy the water view, and great food. read more

Underwhelming. Service waa slow. Beer was warm. $23 seafood nachos were lacking. Very little white sauce. Small.

My service from Kandence was phenomenal. Will definitely recommend others come to this restaurant because of the quality of food and the warm environment Kandence provided. 5/5 Stars! read more

Good view of river street and the river. The hostess that greeted us was very helpful and friendly. Food was average and way overpriced. Our waitress was Zee and we saw her a total of 3 times the whole time we were there. Not a very friendly person and seemed annoyed we had a baby with us. Still tipped her well but she didn't earn it. read more

This place was so infuriating.. we had a party of 5 and we were given 6 "tickets" that we had to use in order to use the restroom. What do you mean we're paying customers and we can only use the bathroom a certain amount of times? I get saint patricks day is hectic but a ticketing system for the restroom feels gross. Don't go here next year read more

Great seafood menu, evening the bar has a live band,, so the atmosphere is great and service is personal and friendly.

Food was delicious (we had the crab cakes, spinach salad with strawberries, and fish tacos). Great service and views from the upper deck! The margaritas were very good too! read more

Disappointed. Beautiful view and could be so awesome. Waiter was not super nice and hostesses all had AirPods in which seemed a tad unprofessional. Food was pretty good but waiter told us that like the guac was frozen for the nachos and just didn't have a great professional presence- don't think he smiled once which with some of the kindness we have received from other restaurants was just overall disappointing. read more

An amazing spot-on River Street! Great service, location, and so many different food options! The manager, Lee, was so knowledgeable and helpful. You'll see me here again soon! read more

Broken Keel - Amazing Views from Patio - Seafood Near Me - Savannah, Georgia

See all

We received the absolute worst service last week at the Broken Keel. The waiter was not knowledgeable about the menu and did not provide good customer service. On top of that, the food was awful!!! We complained to the waiter about the food and he said he would talk to the chef. However, he never returned to our table with a response. We did not eat the food but paid the bill and left. This was very disappointing because we love the river view and always came to eat here when it was Tubby's. We also had to use a Porta Potty for a bathroom that was DISGUSTING!!! read more

Had an uncomfortable experience with an unwanted person following us into the restaurant. The manager on shift was Maddison . She was amazing helped us get the unwanted person escorted off the premise. Mika and Dillan were also other staff members that help comfort and protect my family during the situation. Maddison went above and beyond to ensure my family had a great experience afterwards . The food was delicious, our waiter was Earnest who also was very attentive to our needs. Highly recommend will come back next time I am in town. read more

I would give 0 stars. Food took forever then it was still cold. Staff members were rude. Drinks came out half full. Not at all worth the price for the drinks. read more

****UPDATED REVIEW: Lee Trammell the General Manager contacted me personally and has informed me that the situation has been resolved. I want to praise the Broken Keel manager on duty that night and the server Brooke. As well as Lee for the upstanding service that was given for this situation!!!!! Thank you again. ******** I have never written a negative review in my life, but this is needed. My 3 friends and I are in Savannah for a bachelorette trip this weekend and we chose to go to Broken Keel for dinner last night. We sat on the patio and to start off it took at-least 20 minutes to be seen by a waitress. Once our waitress JANNIE finally came, she took our drink and food order and left. Everything was fine at first, and then the food came out and everyone got their meal except myself , which we all ordered the same thing ( the grouper bites ). Jannie came out and realized I did not have my meal so she said she'd go check on it. An hour went by and I still did not have my meal and my 3 friends had already ate most of their dinner. We kindly asked Jannie to take my meal off the check because I no longer wanted to wait for it. She said she already had and so my friend asked " is she still going to get her food?" Because that is normally what happens if you wait an hour when everyone else has already ate, they should comp/ discount your meal and still give you the food. Jannie said yes I would get my meal still and left. She finally brings me my meal and our checks, where my check said $4 for a drink. I laid down my credit card to pay and she came and took the checks. When she returned with the checks, my check said I had paid $19. I stopped her and said this wasn't the right check, this is when her attitude started, she snapped at me and said yes it is, she said it was the grouper bites, I told her no because she said she took them off and she told us that. She then began to fight with me saying we " asked for the food so she added it to the check" , I explained to her that that was not right and I waited over an hour for my food while all my friends ate, she continued to fight with me infront of the whole patio and I told her to bring me the manager. The situation was finally resolved thanks to a very kind other waitress who saw the whole situation and told the manager, they refunded me my dinner and gave the other 3 girls 10% off of theirs. I never ate my dinner and Jannie came back to the table to clear plates after the whole situation to " clear plates" and she grabbed my grouper bites from me in a very aggressive way and said " You ladies have a great FU**ING night". I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED THIS WAY IN MY LIFE, I've been in the service industry my whole life and never had a waiter/ waitress cuss me out. Moral of the story is, she tried to be sneaky and steal money from me which is NOT okay, she was the rudest server we have ever had, and none of us deserved to be treated the way we were, especially because all I was doing was standing up for myself when I knew my check was incorrect. Jannie from Broken Keel should be fired and I would be very disappointed to find out they did not terminate her. Nobody should treat customers that way, especially customers who have done absolutely nothing wrong. read more

Lacey was fantastic bartender last night! She made the best drinks and was very attentive

The food was "ok" definitely had better but I've also had worse. Service was nice but took forever to get served after we were seated then the waiter hardly came back. It took o er an hour to get our food after we were seated which was right away, we didn't have to wait at all. We had a party of 7 and an infant (2year old) child. The ambiance was not that great. The lighting was well lit but the tables were very close together. Luckily there was no one sitting around us. I would recommend trying but not as a first choice compared to other restaurants in the area. read more

New Year's Eve. Kimber was great!! Food and drinks were good! Great atmosphere , view of the river and the Fireworks!!

kimber was great and the fish and chips are unreal!! Stuffed grouper was awesome. Happy new year!

Would NOT return. The food was just okay and very small portions for the price. Meals were missing items likes sides and toppings on burgers. We couldn't find our server to let her know and have it corrected. Meals for kids were supposed to come with drinks but we had to tell the server they were included. Service was sloooooow from the beginning. Drinks were slow, food was a long time. The restaurant was not that busy either. Server walked by and glanced our way but didn't actually check if we needed anything. When the bill came she our extra beverages on our bill. When we got her attention to ask she said oh yeah you probably went to know about the extra drinks right? Well if you knew it was wrong why didn't you correct it first? Bathrooms were atrocious!! It is an outside porta potty with a code. Nasty nasty nasty. No TP, pee all over the floors and water all over the counters. So disgusting. A newer restaurant does sometimes have to work out the kinks. Well this one needs to clean up, hurry up, more server education, and teach servers how to checks on their tables! read more
