I have so much to say about just how good my experience was with my wife here at this restaurant. We came in at a moderately busy time, with no reservation (which I do not recommend, we just didn't know how quaint the restaurant was). But they still accommodated us with a table. The service was amazing, our waiter took our whole order with no note pad, and our food came out perfect, tasting amazing. I never leave a tip above 20% but brick and fire will now and forever get 30% or more from me for now on. They deserve a Michelin star. read more

What an amazing little Italian restaurant! I was there for work and met a couple of colleagues for dinner. We sat at the small bar and I loved it. I'm usually not a fan of sitting at the bar. This small warm restaurant is inviting and comfortable. The staff is friendly and helpful. The food was amazing! I had a mushroom appetizer composed of 4 different wild mushrooms and toast. I recommend making a reservation. The staff were very nice, accommodating, we didn't make a reservation so we had to wait for about 40 minutes, but it was worth it. The ambiance is the best part of this restaurants experience. The restaurant was rarely without a full table, lots of life, yet is very capable of promoting a romantic atmosphere. I ordered the Stuffed Portobello and my wife ordered the polenta lasagna. I preferred my wife's choice, lots of flavor and a great texture. The portobello was good too, I think I should've dressed it in the balsamic on the table though, it was a very mild dish but I still enjoyed it. The house bread is very good, just a hit of sweetness and the olive and balsamic matched well. My biggest regret in my order was not ordering enough oysters, the oysters are small but I think out of everything I liked them the most, the sauce they made was well rounded, absolutely incredible flavor, especially with just a touch of lemon juice. I read great reviews about this place while planning my most recent trip to Eureka. Brick & Fire is a cute little bistro near the downtown area that is known for their wood-fires pizzas and Mediterranean inspired food. Because of how small this place is, reservations are highly recommended. Thankfully I got lucky and there was one table available when I arrived. I love the ambiance here. The setting is dim lighting with mostly indoor seating and a couple tables outside. Brick & Fire's menu has a variety of artisan pizzas, salads, and Italian favorites. It's not a large menu which I appreciate. The Wild Mushroom Cobbler is a favorite for a starter. I so wanted to try the beet salad but went with the Gazpacho soup (my favorite summer soup). The House Made Italian Sausage Pizza was my entrée choice for the evening and ended up being a good pick. Brick & Fire also has a nice selection of wines and some local beers. This was a great spot for a relaxing dinner after a long day. I highly recommend this place if visiting Eureka. Brick & Fire has carryout if you are not able to get a table. read more

Called for take out over the weekend after a day of exploring the Redwoods. I was told that they are very busy but will ask if they can do take out. She came back on the phone and told me 30 mins which was fine. I ordered an Italian Sausage pizza, Mac & cheese and Brick oven Brussel sprouts. When I arrived, order was not quite done yet- waited around for another 5 mins or so after I paid. Food wise - Pizza was good. The winner was the brussel sprouts! GET IT! It is soft, love the brick oven flavor, just so good! Mac & Cheese was a disappointment. Im not sure what dish it was but its not mac & cheese. Looks like a lasagna layered with tons tomatoes. We got there on the evening before Thanksgiving so the restaurant was full and we had to order take out... the best dish was wild mushroom, so flavorful and refreshing. We also got grilled calamari, Italian Mac and cheese, and fig & pig pizza, these were okay. The mac&cheese was not the typical elbow pasta and the cheese tasted a little different so my kid didn't like it. Dining alone - so I ordered appetizers in order to try a lot of different things: the wild mushroom cobbler, the calamari, a couple of roasted oysters, and a peach caprese salad. Ok, so I'm a glutton. Everything sounded so good, I couldn't resist. And it was good. The standouts were the mushroom cobbler, which was just what you hope it will be - earthy, gooey, and mushroomy. The calamari was also quite good - not the usual fried calamari served by Every Restaurant - these guys were stuffed with shrimp and many other yummy things, and grilled. The roasted oysters were also quite good. The fourth-place finisher was the salad, which was good, but not as yelpable as the other three dishes. Also on the memorable list: A nice glass (ok, so, maybe it was two glasses) of Italian wine. One of my restaurant gripes these days is how teeny a by-the-glass glass of wine is at some restaurants. Not so at B&F. They poured me a decent, generous even, glass of wine. I was inspired to take a picture of it. (I think it was a Rosso di Montalcino.) Also - their wine list is pretty broad - lots of good New and Old World offerings at decent prices. One other small detail. Because I showed up alone, with no reservation, on a busy night, I went to the wine bar two doors down, which is appropriately named, the Two-Doors-Down Wine Bar. Same menu as B&F, but it was quite loud, so I moved back over to the main dining room at B&F, which was much quieter. (It's a nice, cozy dining room.) read more

Usually this place is great, but food was bland and burnt. We got there early and it was quiet but was getting busy as we were getting ready to leave. A large party was coming in and staff was setting up their table. When one of our party got up to go the bathroom, the hostess? ( she was wearing a flowery dress when the rest of the wait staff was dressed in all black) started running around like she was on meth and very noisily dragged the chair from our table over to the large party table. It was so fast and jarring that we were shocked and left speechless! Mind you were were still using that chair, our friend had only gotten up to use the restroom. The woman continued to act like she was on meth and was crazily setting up the other table. So one of us had to stand until we got our check. When we mentioned how rude and jarring it was to our waitress she just laughed! But must have told the tweeker because she came back and apologized. Said she didnt realize we were using it.... When there are people sitting at the table??? The feel of the restaurant is nice but their food is garbage. It's burnt every time. The only thing that wasn't burnt was the carpaccio because it's raw. Our service is usually slow. I tell people, especially ones visiting town, to avoid this place. How it has above 4 stars is beyond me. I will not be coming back because I'm repeatedly disappointed. Brick & Fire Bistro Restaurant on Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives We chanced it and walked in without a reservation. Its humble dining area is not very big. We stood by the door for awhile until a hostess/server told us nicely that they could probably accommodate us at their Wine Bar which is two doors down. The main restaurant was fully booked. She walked us to their wine bar, which is an extension of their restaurant. They also served the same menu as the restaurant. Kenny, was the bartender, the server, the host... he took care of all the guests that walked in. The wine bar is smaller than the restaurant. Some walk-ins were kindly turned away. Apparently this bistro is very popular among the locals. Kenny served us complimentary bread w/ olive oil dipping sauce while he took our orders. It took some time to get our food... after 40 mins here come our Fettina Steak and Italian Mac & Cheese. Mangiamo! It was slow service for everyone, not just us. Kenny had to go outside to get the food from the main restaurant and then serve them at the Wine Bar. FETTINA STEAK: The Kobe beef is a "flap cut" from the flank (garlic marinated and pan seared). The steak was succulent and delicious! It was complemented by a red wine sauce and served with a generous heap of creamy roasted potatoes au gratin. ITALIAN MAC & CHEESE: the combination of the Parmesan, ricotta, cheddar and garlic cream was cheesy, gooey, creamy and oh-so-delicious! Topped that with olives, Roma tomatoes and a crispy cheese crust and I can see why it's a favorite. Hubby and I shared both entrées. We were just glad we were able to dine here on one of their busy nights. Dinner only. Lunch is currently not available. What an amazing restaurant. We made a reservation. They set us out behind the restaurant and is very nice area. The service the staff was so friendly and had such great customer service. We would love to go back again. After driving for 3 1/2 days on the coast highway we came across this awesome pizza place. Food was phenomenal. I had the steak and Potatoes and my wife had the mushroom pot pie. The food was some of the best food I've had in my entire life. We would definitely come back there again and tell all our friends that they're traveling through Eureka to make sure they stop there. The food was phenomenal and the service was just as good. Quality ranges between a three and a four nearly every time I go, not entirely consistent. When it's a four it's definitely worth recommending. The mushroom wild mushroom cobbler has always been consistent though and is an absolute favorite menu item. Cute little area, nooked within the residential spot, typically quick service. read more

We called in a take-out order and picked it up about 25 minutes later. I didn't go in, but my husband described it as a cute, tiny restaurant, perfect for date night. We got the sausage pizza and the pork chop & polenta. My husband enjoyed his pizza, minus the olives, which he picked off. Haha. It was super thin crust and had plenty f sausage and cheese. He ate pretty much the whole thing by himself. It was about 12" in diameter. I liked my pork chop too. It had a bit of a char to the outside. But the inside was pretty juicy and tender. I mean, I could cut through it without too much difficulty using plastic cutlery. Polenta had good flavor and seems like a healthier version of mashed potatoes. There was a pork gravy sauce over it all. And then like a warm tomato salsa in a small separate container. I wasn't quite sure what this sauce went with because there was already a pork gravy. I also tried looking for photos on yelp about how this dish was plated but didn't see any. And the menu description was not helpful either. That's one minor thing about takeout - I am sad I'm not enjoying the dish how it was intended. The warm salsa was delicious though. I just dipped both the pork and polenta in there. This a cute wine and Italian bar. If you are into unique experiences this is definitely a place to try if you are in the Eureka area! Dining room is small but they have additional seating in the wine bar next door. They are open on Sunday's and have a pretty good selection of wines and if you like mushrooms then get the Mushroom Cobbler it was the best thing we had. Busy for a Sunday but that may be because it was one of the few restaurants actually open for dinner. Server was fine and got our order correct. There are a few hidden fees ( sharing fees for split entrees) so make sure you read the fine print on the menu. read more

Cute little restaurant with limited seating. We were here for dinner on a Saturday and were lucky to get a reservation for the evening. They have a number of vegetarian options . Started with appetizers , mushroom cobbler , roasted oysters and grilled tuna. The mushroom cobbler was extremely delicious, wish I ordered two and didn't have to share with my partner. My husband loved his small plates too . The tuna was very fresh. For entrees , we got the Polenta Lasagna and Italian sausage pizza. The food were smelling so good that I forgot to take pics and immediately dug in. Coming here was not part of my original plans but I'm glad that changed. After hiking all day through the redwoods I had a craving for some pizza which allowed me to find this restaurant. The food was very different from my usual liking but so good nonetheless. I started with the wild mushroom cobbler which was so much better than I had expected and then ordered the autumn butternut pizza because when else would I be able to try something like that? Ended up finishing the entire thing and went back to the hotel satisfied. Also, they give out free bread but I didn't want to load up on that before my actual meals and if you have more than two people you should definitely call ahead for reservations. My honey and I were in Eureka for a few days and just popped in w/out reservations. Luckily they had two empty seats @ the bar; only 4 seats , so we got lucky. We split oysters, a grilled Caesar salad and the roasted steelhead . The roasted oysters were so well prepared and cooked. Possibly the best that I have ever had The grilled Caesar salad was solid; however it could have used a bit more dressing; and this is coming from someone that usually gets their dressing on the side as I like my salads only lightly dressed. Next time I will ask for some additional on the side. The oven roasted steelhead was very good, but the rice pilaf was even better. All was accompanied by a lovely Pint Grigio from Alsace . Could not have been more pleased with our dinner. And our server was very friendly and knowledgeable to boot ! read more
