This is the place, for excellent service, friendly people, to meet your friends, to treat yourself, for quality food, portions that leave you full and probably with leftovers, freshest fish any where, to support local small business, - there are too many great reasons to dine at APD, and they've been doing all of the above consistently for decades. Hands down best eatery on the NorCalCoast

Kind of a hole in the wall, and probably could use a refresh on the decor but don't let that fool you. My hubby loved their pizza and he can be a snob. I had their line-caught albacore burger. I appreciate a great fish sandwich and this hit the spot. Meanwhile hubby happily munching on his pizza. Service was fast and fine, the food was really good. So good hubby came back next day for more pizza.

uncooked veggies on top of my combo pizza slice

Two issues. The mushrooms and bell peppers on top of my combo pizza slice were completely raw, cold, and crunchy. Next was the service - the man who took my order (I don't know his name) was nice, but the other guy, Jason, was not good at customer service. He seemed very unwilling to help people and acted like he was too good to be there.

Oh wow! I was not expecting the serving size when I came here! I am a vegetarian so my go to is a veggie sandwich, which can really be a hit or miss at many places. Here it was a total hit! This sandwich was HUGE! The spicy chicken sandwich my boyfriend got was not spicy at all and the French fries were just alright.

Food was delicious, took awhile to get out to us, so get there early if it's the weekend! Love the big tables, nice and roomy, decor feels classic and warm. The staff are super nice and helpful. It's a great spot and near all my fave places to visit when I'm in town.

The pizza was bathing in grease, which was disgusting. It has consistently been excessively easy.

Ask the Community - Arcata Pizza & Deli

Last week (May 3) at Arcata Pizza and Deli there was an exhibit by an artist who had a Bob Dylan piece. I believe his first Doug but can't recall his last name. Does anyone recall?

I would call on a weekday between 11 and 11:30 and ask about the art, if not after 6pm

I cannot rate this place. We couldn't dine here. First, the…read moreone handicapped parking stall was blocked by the restaurants dumpster. We managed to nose our truck into the stall with a bit less room and walked around to the front entrance. Our disabled son has a service dog. She happens to be a standard Poodle that is clearly tagged, working-dog vested in hi-viz optic yellow with 'Service Dog' patches clearly worn and tethered to our son with a matching hi-viz short traffic lead. Imagine our surprise when walking into the restaurant we were told by the woman at the register that the dog was not allowed inside. We would have to put the dog outside on a hook. We politely countered, gesturing to the dog and explaining that as a service dog, she was legally allowed inside, to which the woman again stated that the dog would have to remain outside. On a hook... We chose rather than continue to waste time trying to get a seat or even place an order, to simply leave. We would spend our money elsewhere. FYI: California Vehicle Code - VEH § 22507.8 states that it is unlawful to block the access or use of the handicapped parking like that: https://codes.findlaw.com/ca/vehicle-code/veh-sect-22507-8/ And the ADA has clear direction about service animals and their permitted access in a restaurant setting: https://www.ada.gov/resources/service-animals-2010-requirements/ These are very real legal issues. And we feel that the staff member made a choice to discriminate against us. Rather than raise a complaint with Humboldt County, we just won't return to this place, nor will we recommend eating here.

Not much flavor, texture was fine. Cheese was also okay, 5/10. Didn't stand out by any means but didn't taste inherently bad. Pepperoni and sausage was fine, 5/10. Definitely not great but not terrible. Overall very underwhelming, I'd prefer dominos for 1/3 the price, and definitely most other chains at the same price. Next day reheating via microwave after refrigeration; bread/dough was soggy, everything tasted similarly underwhelming but a bit more so.

It's…read morewell-staffed, the presentation of the pies is decent enough, and there's a rotating menu that changes each day. I tried the La Bruchetta slice and a more generic pepperoni slice. Their pepperoni was greasy, but not overwhelming, though it was pretty densely salted which off set the flavor profile of their sauce. I wouldn't say it was spectacular, though their La Bruchetta was exemplary. The sauce was flavorful, the crust had integrity, and it had a manageable amount of grease. The cheese was thin, as was the crust, but this is what you'd expect if a pizza joint that styles itself after New York. The ambience is typical of a dedicated pizza joint; the seating is a bit plain, not much going on in terms of music, but it's carried by other patrons and their interesting conversations. The staff is polite enough, but you can tell they get overwhelmed by all the patronage they receive, so don't expect to make small talk. Overall, it's a middle of the road experience. The flavors are good, for their specialty pizzas anyway, and the culture surrounding the restaurant is exceptional for a Cali pizza place. Very good for a relatively small college town in the Pacific Northwest. I'd recommend going at least once.

Other pizza's with loads of cheese and more dense crust can be tempting and even make my mouth a bit happy for moment but my stomach feels dense afterwards. The crust has chew and structure though not like a cracker (which was a pizza trend elsewhere that I wasn't liking but also not fond of the bread like flavorless thicker crusts (not talking deep dish which a place in Bay Area did well somehow). I forget the owner's name..begins with a P I think ....anyway very hard worker who puts his head and heart into producing his products. They do catering too..i looked it up on FB or Instagram and was amazed at how many other things he makes and how delicious it also looked. I'd give 6 stars if that was an option and they had some oregano or other herbs on the side to put on pizza if we like ...pizza places in general used to do that and haven't seen it anywhere. Oregano is easy to grow. Some might find it pricy for the lightness of the pizza so if you need a hearty meal their pizza might not do it for you. I have only had their pizza at the farmers market and it tastes so good i have to use will power not to eat the whole thing . I save half for the next day and sometimes add an egg on it for breakfast. Reheating in cast iron pan brings the crust back to life and I don't put it in the frig overnight to also keep the crust good and i turn the pizza upside down so crust not soggy but with his pizza no much chance of that cause he does some sort of dough magic that makes his crust hold and not soak up the toppings.
