Juicy Lucy with side salad. Bottom of bun bigger than the top and ridiculously hard to eat
    Alayna C.

Other reviews had me hyped about this place but it turned out to be disappointing. I ordered the Juicy Lucy and my husband ordered the the Backwoods burger. Ordered an extra side of curly fries. We showed up around 5:25 or so and the place wasn't busy at all. Waited 30 minutes for the burgers and they came out cold/barely warm. Seems like they sat around in the back for quite a while before they made it out to us (which at 30 minutes we were already feeling perturbed about service). If the food had come out hot I would feel better. The burgers themselves both were burnt on the bottom and my burger was more of a ball than a burger. The buns LOOK good but are nearly impossible to eat and have a meh taste about them. Flavor was underwhelming. I hope this place takes constructive criticism and puts it to work because it could be a great spot otherwise.

The Green Chick dripping with flavorful goodness!

Fun restaurant find thanks to family suggestions! Loved every bite!! Highly recommend!

Our order of sweet potato fries but it's just a fried chunk of disgustingness.

Decided to give this place another try (dont know why I do this) and the last time I ordered cheese fries from here it was a nice cheddar (how cheese fries usually are). This time its that fake nacho cheese sauce you get at baseball games. Idk... I just dont think it goes very well. And for the price this is just kind of absurd. Gross, soggy, cheap. DO BETTER!!!

Don't eat this burger!....if you're wearing all white, on a first date, trying to impress someone with your elegant table manner. Otherwise, dig in! They offer the best burger in the county and every food item is either made on site or sourced locally. You can taste the quality that goes into their products and their service, even under the COVID restrictions, is super. I ate there today after they just reopened and my heart is happy. Try the Juicy Lucy (I added Jalapeños to mine) with incredible fries and a local IPA...and experience Heaven

This was the worst experience I've had here ... I've been here before and it was actually pretty good ... prices were a little high but not unreasonable for the quality of food that I had gotten previous times here , service was better previous times as well... First , looking up their menu and calling in an order isn't too good of an idea as every menu picture I found online was outdated and had the wrong prices on it , so my food ended up costing way more than I had initially thought that it would from looking at the menus I had found online. Next , their hours in google are wrong , they close at 8 not 9 , I went in thinking I had about another hour and some change before they closed and the cashier told me that they were closed down for the night and weren't taking anymore orders when I walked in at about 7:40 ... I've worked in the food industry a lot before , and I've never seen a kitchen close down before closing time ... but hey , whatever‍ then after I paid for my food , the cashier tells me that there was a technical issue and my ticket never printed in the kitchen so they never made my food but they're making it right now .. okay cool, I get it , that's happened to me before ... now as I'm sitting there with my friend waiting for our food , we can see in the kitchen and we see them making our food with no gloves on while they're handling dishes they had just dropped on the floor etc , we see the floor is filthy and covered in food and other debris , it honestly just looked a complete mess. Then when we finally got our food , my friend suggested we check to make sure we have everything , I ordered 2 kids meals ,that are supposed to come with a slider and a small fry each, and 2 orders of like loaded fries ... we only got 2 sliders and the 2 loaded fries ... when I asked for my order to be fixed , the cashier told me their fryers are already off(mind you , it's not 8 yet) and that she'll just give me a refund ... whatever at least I got my money back , so we take it and go ... now 50$ is what I paid ... getting refunded 16$ for the two kids meals I didn't get . Our loaded fries were so over cooked they were literally inedible .. the cheese had those thick slimy chunks that processed nacho cheese gets when it's been sitting for a minute and you scrape the bits off the sides ... for food that was literally just made , it was cold so fast ... the only reason I'm giving any stars at all is kuzz they gave me a refund and the burgers we did get for the kids meals were actually pretty good in taste . I won't be going back though . Do better

Android pay works here. Nice vibe, very instagramy/ hipster trendy on the inside. Place was clean, and you can see them making your food. Both indoor and outdoor eating. I appreciated the hot sauce collection they had tucked into the hallway wall on our way out to the patio area. Great food with some creative selections Luckily it is in a part of town where street side parking is easy enough to find.

    Dog friendly patio!

The meat burger was good but the veggie (fun guy) was disgusting. It was a sloppy, soggy, double onion mess. Do NOT order the fun guy unless you like a mess. The pups REALLY like it here. They have water bowls and a patio for them. The backwoods was good, thick and flavorful but also messy and difficult to eat. Once you picked it up you could not put it down. They cleared the table before I was done, which isn't a plus especially when it was completely over priced. I make a much better meat and mushroom burger at home. IMHO for vegans or vegetarians it's a SKIP.

Corn dogs are always burnt. The fried pickles are decent but they aren't crunchy. Prices went up and quality did not.

Since we have moved to Humboldt County, we have been here well over 30 times. I look forward to coming here, it is our go to place when we come down the hill. I have yet to have something bad here, and what I have had makes me salivate when I think about it, heck, I am getting hungry now. So if you want a place to eat in or near Arcata, CA. this is the place. In fact if you are on the 101 and you are between Crescent City and Garberville, you might just want to wait until you get to Arcata to eat.

Overall, the food was very good, it was packed well, and it came quickly. Unfortunately, the order came with no plastic silverware, no napkins, just the food. Did they not see that this was going to a motel? Fortunately, I had a plastic fork from another meal, and I just used TP for napkins. Please pay a little bit more attention to the details. I decided to go with the à la Mexicana omelette, which had spicy beef, cheese, salsa, diced tomatoes, shredded lettuce, sour cream, olives, and green onions. Basically, a "taco omelette." it also came with jalapeños, but I put in the comments to please leave them out, and they did. To drink, I had a "Tutti Frutti", which was orange and cranberry juice, with Sprite. The omelette was very good. They were generous with all of the ingredients. I love a good "taco omelette", and this was right up there with others that I have had. The eggs were tender, the beef and the salsa had just a little bit of a spice, just enough that I knew it was there. I liked the sour cream And The lettuce and the diced tomato provided a nice "pop" of freshness. I loved the drink. The orange and the cranberry played very well together, and they didn't put in so much sprite that it watered down the rest of the flavors. The hashbrowns were OK, just generic restaurant hashbrowns, and I wish they would've given me a choice of the bread when I ordered. I would've mentioned it in the comments, but I didn't think about it. It was just your standard white toast. It was OK, but I would've preferred like a nice sourdough, or rye, or something like that. They have a lot of things on their menu, and I would definitely order from here again, either delivery or in person. Thank you.

What a gem. My wife and I were traveling to Mckinnleyville and came across this amazing eatery…read more At first we were drawn in my the vibe, just as wild as the lost coast. Inside did not disappoint, several different seating areas, all well decked out for different ambiance. Even though it was a packed Vakentines day, and we had no reservations were seated immediately, and the service seemed to be waiting for us. We sat at the huge, live edge red wood bar so we could enjoy the free live music, Angela and Co. killed it. The Valentines day prefix, lasagna with truffle salad and flour less cake looked amazing, but since we only had the one night, we decided on the food that put Papa Wheelies on the map. I had the basic burger, the Eel River Grass Feed beef burger, and it did not let me down. As soon as the beef hit the grill I could smell the quality. Perfectly prepared with sublime execution, just enough of all the right flavors. I can not recall ever having a better burger that I did not make myself. My wife had the Brie Burger that was voted best in Humboldt County, amd we found out why. Same grass fed beef, but cover in brie, chopped bacon and jalapeño pepper jelly. Perfectly seared, just enough pink for a flavor that exploded in your mouth. I have to mention here, that I hate messy burgers, that fall apart and get all over you. Well not at Papa Wheelies. Despite all those toppings is some how stayed together until the very last bite. We were pretty stuffed, but the band played on and the atmosphere was infectious. The menu had seemed sparce at first, but as I looked I relealized that it rambles all around the room, with hidden specials in every corner. In one we discovered the Poutine, made with real cheese curds and LOCAL mushroom gravy, amsntheirbf amousnhandncut fried, we just had to. In the end it was a bridge to far and we had to take most of it to go, but now I can't wait to eat it cold tomorrow. Papa Wheelies isn't just great food, good prices and great times, it is a serious piece of McKinnleyville society, from the localy made ingredients like apple cider vinegar syrup in their mock tails, the mushrooms, chicken and beef as well as the lemon ginger Kombocha, it is as much about their lo al community as it about friends getting together to relax and unwind.
