This place is the best food I have had here in Humboldt, AND , the best part about this place, is that it is, as far as I know, the ONLY 24hr business in the whole county and every time I have been the staff is super nice and the food is like I said the best around. Super extensive menu and they also have cakes and baked goods as well which all look very enticing and delicious but I have not partaken. This menu is straight up huge though, like, anything you can think of it's probably up there. Ambiance is - well 1) i'm from a real city, so rating anything in humboldt on it's "ambiance" is a funny ask, but this place makes me feel like it's not illegal to be awake after midnight! So i'll take it. It's not like "cheap-cheap" but the food is good and you get what you pay for. Like, i'm poor, and I still wouldn't and don't complain about the prices cuz you get a lot of food, and it's all GOOD food, hella good, and they doing a real service to this otherwise completely dead after 6,7,8,9,pm ahh county/city/area by being open ALL THE TIME. Placed an order for 4 people. Got the milk shake right away - that was tasty. Had to ask the staff 3 times where our order was. It finally arrived after an hour. The fries were cold, got sent back and 15 minutes later hot fries arrived. The food was ok, but not for the price paid. I will not go back. read more

Then when entering your eyes are immediately treated to a sugar feast of homemade pies and desserts that warrant a review by themselves. The onion rings make you cry out with epicurian delight. It's an order at counter, sit down and they bring out your food diner. We got eggs, potato, bacon, sausage breakfasts and they were good. Added their blueberry pancakes to share and they were really good & large but the syrups both were really watery. It's a bakery too. Got some desserts to go and they were ok. Lots of choices. Arrived in 15 min to pick up and order not ready, three young staff ignored my presence at pick up counter, once someone acknowledged my presence they were confused by my ordered. The hamburgers were delicious. The large serving of garlic fries was smaller than what were accustomed to, however they were tasty. Service was walkup and order, sit down, and they find you. We ordered to-go, and somehow this place still felt like home. Toni's is the kind of spot that sticks with you -- warm, welcoming, and full of heart, even when you're just in and out picking up your food. Our server was so cool and genuine. Everyone we interacted with was kind, relaxed, and looked like they actually enjoy working here -- like cooking with love is their unspoken secret ingredient. You can feel it in the energy and definitely taste it in the food. My sister ordered a quarter-pound beef patty for her dog because her diva pup wasn't feeling the fancy dog food she brought. The staff didn't even flinch -- they made it happen, and honestly, that patty was top grade. As for me? I had the slice of blackberry pie and haven't been the same since. I think a part of my soul is still standing in front of the glass pie case, waiting to try every single flavor. My sister got a slice of a rhubarb pie with either strawberry or raspberry. It looked like it was topped with strudel. Anyways I wanted to come back the next morning for breakfast, but my sister talked me into our hotel's free breakfast (which was okay, but let's be real -- it wasn't Toni's). Arcata is one of those towns that wins you over in quiet, perfect ways. This place is a big part of that. This 24 hour diner is a cozy, warm and welcoming diner. The diner has some of the nicest, most friendly waitresses we've ever met. The restaurant has long list of hamburgers, salads, soups, sandwiches and fried baskets. We absolutely loved their chicken sandwich, grilled ham n cheese and foot long chili dog. So bland. I could not believe the absolute lack of any seasoning. We had omelets, the chedder omelet and the California omelet. Cheddar had hashbrowns, underdone and the cheese wasn't melted. I dont mean the omelet sat and the cheese got cold. It wasn't melted to begin with. Same with the cali omelet, cheese not melted. On the California omelet I had country potatoes, no seasoning, just bland. No flavor at all. We had English muffins, not toasted enough. The dessert case looked super yummy but after the bland bland food we passed. Staff was nice enough, you order at the counter and give a name. We ordered food to-go and brought it back to my son's dorm. My son did suggest this spot since he and my husband like milk shakes. Place is right off the 101, has plenty of parking and they get a lot of locals picking up orders they called-in in advance. We ordered a vanilla and a chocolate shake, a baked chicken sandwich, a club sandwich, 2 bowls of vegetable soup, and a blue cheese burger. Oh and a chocolate cake. The shakes were really good. They are known for their deserts, shakes and burgers. I loved my baked chicken sandwich and my vegetable soup. Everyone liked their food actually. My son lives on campus at CSUH so he knows what he likes. We didn't eat inside. They ran out of vegetable soup around 7:30-8pm so we only got one bowl of it. But it was yummy. If I'm in the area again, I'll go back. And they really are open 25hrs. They had a lot of desserts ready to go. My son says all their deserts are fantastic. I loved the chocolate cake. read more

The ambience is typical American diner with few customers eating huge portions with gusto and quiet atmosphere and infinite refill of old thick black coffee keeps getting refilled until your caffeine meter hits 95 mph. The hot sauce offered on the table is limited to two types of Tabasco. The food today is what I am writing about. Tony's idea of a French dip sandwich needs to be improved. The meat was so minimal that I ordered an extra portion of meat which cost me nearly $9. So my total bill was $45 that included tax and tip. That was just for me. No one else was with me today. I did order a piece of carrot cake which there's is the best there is around this area. Homemade. The chicken cajun soup was delicious. The salad and fries also up to standard. However; if you're going to bother having a French dip. Use real tri-tip steak. Give the customer a decent amount of meat. And an Auju to dip the French dip in that is stronger and better quality. I would have rather have paid $20 for that meal and had sufficient good quality meat, and strong enough dip. Make it worth my while Tony and I'll be back for the rest of my life for a decent quality friendship sandwich. That was fabulously friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere busy and happy as usual. Overall, a pretty good meal with a couple of hiccups. This place came highly recommended from my brother, so I decided to come in for lunch. It was Sunday at lunchtime, so they were pretty busy. I decided to go for the fish and shrimp basket with tots instead of fries, and a small German chocolate milkshake. The milkshake was amazing! Thick, rich, you could easily taste both the chocolate and the caramel. The only problem was, they brought the shake to my table right away. By the time my food got there 30 minutes later because they were so busy, the shake was gone. Next time I will just ask them to bring the shake with my meal. The fish and tots came first, and then I had to ask where my shrimp was. he apologized, and brought it separately. There was a lot of food! The shrimp and the tots were very good. The fish, was not so successful. Once I asked, he brought it very quickly. The fish itself was delicious. The only problem was, it was over breaded, and the breading was very greasy. I could literally see the oil just coming off the fish. Next time, I will just not order the fish. The portion was huge, and I had plenty of the shrimp and tots to bring home with me for another meal. Overall, a good meal. The price was a little bit on the higher end, but very reasonable for what I got. I will come back and try more things. Thank you. UPDATE: I came back a day or two later. This time, off the 24 hour breakfast menu, I decided to try the chicken fried steak. This time, it was a total home run! The steak was tender, delicious, and not over breaded or greasy at all. The sausage gravy was creamy and rich, the tots were great again, and this time I had the cherry chocolate chip shake. Once again, the shake was amazing. This place is known for their shakes. The person at the cash register told me that normally they bring the shake out right away, unless you ask for it to be brought with your meal, which I did. I will remember that from now on. In addition to scrumptious food, friendly and helpful staff, and being open 24 hours/day, 7 days/week, the best thing about Toni's is the consistency. For example, if you had biscuits and gravy that were fresh, tasty, plentiful and attractive on, say, Sunday afternoon, you're going to experience the same if you order it two weeks later, early on a Tuesday morning. That's right, breakfast - the most important meal - can be ordered anytime. The salads are to die for. Whether it's a club salad, a Cobb (my husband's choice), apple walnut chicken (my personal favorite) or the garden salad, you're going to get an abundance of very fresh, beautiful vegetables with what tastes like house-made dressing (?). Burgers are good sized and very delectable. I also appreciate the effort to which the staff look out for us - my grandson has a significant egg allergy. When I mentioned this to the person taking my order, he said that they take food allergies very seriously and went on to explain that they would clean the grill before they made his grilled cheese to make certain there was not even any egg residue. He also read off all of the bread ingredients to me to make sure I felt confident that there were no eggs hiding in any other ingredients. I mean, this was so comforting to us. I don't want you to have to Epi-pen the little guy and so he seldomly eats anything outside of the house, but this was a completely beyond any response from other restaurants. The pastries are great, the blueberry crumble warmed up was perfect and the coconut crème pie had a ton of coconut and a good crust. The two times we were here we had a burger, patty melt, the breakfast potatoes (definitely need to add eggs to this, I didn't realize it was just the loaded potatoes but they were still tasty just could've used eggs to go with it) and the fish and chicken basket with onion rings. All generous portions and came out hot. It's an order at the counter type restaurant which we didn't expect but everything moved quickly. Only complaint is to have a few physical versions of the menu because it's hard to read the board while you're in line and then don't want to hold people up when you get to the front and can see it. read more
