Very warm, comfortable and friendly environment with a lot of room to visit with neighbors, study, write etc. I'm a coffee purest so can't comment on the various more complex coffee offerings, but can say the dark roast drip was delightful. I had the Blaze Bagel this morning and enjoyed it very much, despite the messiness of all of the delicious components (everything bagel with cream cheese, avocado, bacon, egg, cheddar). Please start using a thermometer to temp the drinks you are making- theres nothing worse than leaving with a luke warm drink, and this happens consistently here. Having your barista place their hand on the metal pitcher to guess the temperature of the milk is the reason for this inconsistency. I can't speak to the coffee but I heard no complaints. I can speak to the Chai tea. They have home brewed which is my requirement. Actually, they have two option. They have their own home brewed and another quite spicy option fill with beneficial mushroom power! I tried this and I hate mushroom but am interested in the health benefits. This chai was very spicy and although I prefer not to have sweet chai I did have him add a touch of honey! This was a very different chai and not something you'd find elsewhere I believe. Got a cup of their Honey Bee coffee and it was super tasty. Well balanced with nice sweet notes from the bee pollen. Ambiance was great. Ambient music playing in the background while I cozied up with my drink and a book on their comfy couch. There were a good amount of people hanging around but not noisy. read more

Absolutely my favorite coffee shop in Arcata. Not only are their selections for coffee and snacks amazing but they are creative too! The staff is unbelievably kind and fun and always make me feel like the main character. Beyond ordering they have the best sticker selection in town and other local artists work for sale (not even for outrageous prices!) I am not done though, if you stick around to enjoy your goodies the space is perfect for working on your laptop with tasteful tunes and sometimes live music or poetry. Hemp lattes got me like Mmmmm LOVE! The have all kinds of organic milks: coconut, hemp, almond, soy and rice. They have organic baked goods too. Coffee is so nice here. Every Wednesday a group of us old guys (75-80!) gather for coffee etc. Every type, gender and form are there - and the grad students with there laptops , couples of various sizes and shape, and the usual wandering tourists. Since Humboldt in general, and Arcata particularly, are very open and friendly there is often crosstalk with strangers at other tables. Some reviewers felt uncomfortable with the post-hippie vibe. Of course, that is to be expected given that Humboldt County is the far north landing spot for the counter culture's exodus from the SF Bay Area in the late 60s and early 70s. If anyone is uncomfortable it's really on them. That's the ambiance. This is the content: the various coffees, food and pastries (run by local women) are all excellent. Even the one with shrooms! Oh, and most of the menu is organic. If you can't live long and prosper then at least try to be free! read more
