The food here is incredibly fresh! I had a curry dish with tofu that was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered a salmon pasta special, she loved it. The ladies working the register were extremely kind and helpful. You order at the front and they deliver your food. They have a nice indoor space and an even nicer outdoor area. Delicious food and great service! My partner and I went here on our last morning of a trip to Arcata at the end of December. The rain was pouring down and we were worried that they wouldn't let our Covid-conscious selves outside on the patio. Luckily, part of the patio is covered and we were able to eat outside, nicely protected from the downpour! The service was attentive and friendly even though we were the only people seated outside, and our food was hot and fresh and delicious! I ordered the grilled toast, which was super tasty! It had mushrooms and kale and a perfectly cooked poached egg. It was all of the savory, veggie-forward, herby deliciousness I could ask for! My partner got the huevos rancheros which were equally tasty. They got the chai latte as well, which was spicy and sweet. My coffee was also very good. They have a setup where you can get your own coffee, which made refilling it extra easy. I will definitely come back here the next time I'm in Arcata. read more

Came on a Tuesday at 11:30 for lunch. Parking was a challenge as you can't park in the lot of the restaurant next door. After going around the blocks a few times I made a u turn to park a little ways away. I found navigating here challenging being alone with a dog. The sign outside says to use the "south gate" with dogs, but points to the gate that leads to the back with the garbage. I stood outside the door waiting for someone to tell me where the right gate was, which took some time as, after serving customers, the cashier walked away. Finally got her attention and they let me know. Once I knew the right gate (be careful of the path around the front, it's uneven), I headed back with my dog. The last table was open otherwise I would have had to share a picnic table or leave. I thought there would be a window where I could order, but there isn't. You have to leave your dog alone leashed to a table then go inside and wait in line to order, my least favorite thing to do as my dog is friendly but who knows what could happen in a crowded patio with other dogs and children on it. Never mind someone walking away with her. Not sure how they could improve that but it seems that servers could take orders out back, I don't know. They use those light metal holders with a piece of laminated paper on it for your order number. It was windy so it kept blowing over. Food didn't take too long and they give you a glass for water and silverware when you order. As others have said the food is amazing. Mate and lemonade was tasty. Had the bahn mi bowl with salmon and it was fresh and delicious. Salmon was freshly grilled and cooked perfectly. I went back in and bought their vegan sweets to take along and those were equally good. The line is slow as there seem to be a lot of stoned folks and clueless others taking forever to make a decision. So come with your patience, this is not fast in any sense. The garden is lovely. It is marred by multiple folks who don't believe in headphones having speakerphone conversations, but that isn't the fault of the restaurant. The whole place is all pretty tight in terms of space, I can't imagine going when it is crowded. Excellent food but not always easy to navigate. So for me I would get takeout from here and leave the dog in the car while I wait. If you are a couple with a dog or don't have a dog it would be much easier to navigate, so this is just my personal experience. read more

I came here for brunch and the food was delicious. I ordered the tostada and shared a chia pudding and turmeric latte with my friend. The turmeric latte was incredible. I have never tasted a drink like that. It was almost like curry but in a creamy latte. If you don't like curry, you may not like this. The chia pudding was also very good. It had fresh fruit on top that was fresh. To our happy surprise one of the fruits was persimmon. The chia pudding part was nice and thick with a creamy flavor to it. It was very light to eat. The tostada had so much lettuce on top I thought it was supposed to be a salad. The lettuce had cilantro, thinly sliced carrots, and avocado on top of it. The crunchy tortilla was under there though. The meat was seasoned so well and had great flavor. The sauce on top was amazing and went well with the meat and tostada feel. I added some hot sauce on top for a little kick. They make delicious food! I work in the neighborhood and this is my absolute favorite lunch spot. They are famous locally for their vegan offerings and cater to a wide range of dietary needs like gluten free etc. None of that applies to me, I just love the fact their food always tastes incredibly good! And I like the idea they buy from local farmers. My go to is Phoenix Breakfast Potatoes with Andouille sausage. The title breakfast potatoes doesn't do them justice. They are magic. Besides magic there are mushrooms and onions and some yummy cheese in there. I mentioned sausage, also topped with two yummy eggs. Best breakfast potatoes I have ever had. Seasoned just right, not greasy. Too much to eat at once. Besides the breakfast potatoes I have had several other menu items and never found one I did not like. Really great crew out front.
