Customer service was great but the location is awkward as it's located in a hotel. If you're staying in the hotel it's probably a convenient place to grab a bite. Otherwise the Arcata location has a much more welcoming ambiance to have a sit-down breakfast and coffee. Let me start this by saying I loooove the Arcata location. I always feel welcome in the door when I go there, and never leave feeling unsatisfied. I decided to try the Eureka location today as I had never been. Let's start with the ambiance; getting into the door was the first hurdle as I completely walked past the doorway at first. There's just a small sign advertising the coffee shop on the door. I understand that this building is also a hotel, but a liiiiitle more signage would help. I watched other people do the same thing I did, walk right past the door to see the sign on the window, only to confusedly walk into the shop. The music when I first came in was a pleasant folk station. Perfect background music. After about 15 minutes, someone changed the music to Sublime and other early aughts rock music. Super distracting in my opinion. The cashier was smiling and laughing with her coworkers until I walked up. Smile dropped before she greeted me to take my order. I ordered the mocha and burrata toast. The mocha was delicious if not a tad watery. The burrata toast came almost 20 minutes later (toast, jam, prosciutto, arugula and mozzarella) and was deconstructed. Mind you, the picture on the menu showed the toast completely put together. It was a mess to put together and a mess to eat. Didn't taste bad, but the experience was not enjoyable. I probably will still go back, maybe this was just a fluke! This place was far too cute and I am so happy it opened up in the heart of old town. Everyone there was so sweet and the seating so full and spacious. Their coffee was fantastic. With phenomenal specialty drinks and the classics for any coffee shop. What really pushed this one into a perfect 5 stars was the fact that they had gluten free options, that were fresh and unique. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with ham, a fresh and thick egg patty, garlic aioli, Havarti cheese, and avocado on a toasted English muffin. It was tasty, though a bit overpriced for something I could easily make at home, even though the quality was very high. I also had a regular black coffee, which was good. The ambiance was perfect for getting work done--it was quiet enough to concentrate, and there was plenty of room to spread out my paperwork. The Wi-Fi worked well for me, although the attendant mentioned it can sometimes be spotty. I went in today and asked for a breve cappuccino I was told they do not have half-and-half and I said OK. Is that a normal thing or do you just not have it? The lady looked at me and said no we never have it cause we don't need it rudely. I told her that I'd take a regular cappuccino 12 ounce with regular milk. She told me they only did them in 6 ounces. I asked if she could just put 2 6 ounces in a 12 ounce cup and she said she couldn't do that either so I ordered two cappuccinos. They were 6 ounces and then asked for a 12 ounce cup and they looked at me and grabbed the cup. Set it on the counter and walked away. I will never go there again. Unfortunately the time it takes to get these items is absolutely insane. 30+ minutes for a single item with two other people in the restaurant is ridiculous. We ordered our food and a latte. The latte tasted like warm milk with cinnamon-- no espresso taste at all. I literally had 3 sips. The food was not good. I understand this is a coffee shop but the flavors and quality were all off. The chilaquiles was really horrible, my biscuit for my breakfast sandwich was off in texture, I wouldn't call it a biscuit . The yogurt parfait was good and the avacado toast wasn't bad. I write there in my little corner, it's been one of the best places I've ever found. If you're in Eureka you have to visit, and sample one of the great locally roasted coffee beans in town. This is the second time we've stopped here for breakfast and coffee. The lattes were very good. As someone who roasts their own coffee I value a good cup a good cup out on the economy. We had their Avocado toast which is done on a thick slice of artisan bread and their steel cut oats with fruit and granola. Both, very good. By far the best coffee in humboldt. The coffee here beats or is on par with my favorite sports in the Bay Area or any major city. The egg sandwiches here are also really good and well priced. Just a single scrambled egg, orange salsa, and chips. Also each one was about 5oz in size. The total cost for two cortados and two 5oz chips and salsa was $40. The things I love - their coffee, the atmosphere. Also, the owners are wonderful people who are lovely to chat with. I can't give five stars because they often open late, and often don't have their espresso dialed in on time, to serve people at opening. And their tables are not always wiped down. I would say, if they could open on time every day and keep the tables wiped down and floor swept, this would be a real class act. As it is, it still feels really nice to hang out and enjoy great coffee and some good music, in a spacious and pleasant old hotel lobby. Top notch spot overall! read more

I've eaten here a couple of times, both times I had the house salad. It's made with local fresh veggies and is a generous portion. I also shared a delicious wheat feee oatmeal raisin cookie with my mom that was additive and I'm not wheat free. Very limited menu, good variety of baked goods but all seem to be made with quality and care. My mom had a mocha she very much enjoyed as well. Cafe is clean and comfortable. I ordered a mocha, it came luke and not tasting of chocolate. I brought it back, the barista offered to remake it. I accepted, and asked him to put in more chocolate. He replied that I would have to pay extra. I demurred and watched as he applied chocolate to the cup practically molecule by molecule.
