This Chocolate shop is a treat!! Not only can you shop for these gorgeous chocolate bars, you can also sample them! I live in AZ, but when I am in Eureka California....I always stop in!! There is also a fantastic coffee shop inside where they will make you a delicious coffee, tea or cocoa! I had an amazing Matcha!! Beautiful shop!!!

Handcrafted high quality chocolates [Eureka CA] Before heading home we stopped by this chocolate shop located in Downtown Eureka... they were open on Memorial Day! The shop has a cafe bar and a small bakery on one side with plenty of seating and on the opposite side guests can sample some of their award winning artisanal chocolates. The chocolate bars were somewhere between $10-$12 each depending on the flavor. From the cafe I purchased 2 pieces of their Browned Butter Rice Krispy Treats. The Rice Krispies were dipped in 68% Tanzania Chocolate. Nope, not your regular rice krispy treat... the chocolate brought it to another level with the combination of Rice Krispie Treats and brown butter. They are located right on the waterfront of Humboldt Bay in Eureka. From May to August they offer factory tours every Friday at 1:00p and 2:00p. They also sell non-food merch: shirts, mugs, travel thermos, cups and digital gift cards. Anything here would make a great gift! Instagram: @dicktaylorchocolate Review #3779

This place is an absolute chocolate lover's dream! There happened to be some pretty significant construction going on outside when we stopped here, but nothing was going to keep us from heading inside and checking this place out. You know the saying "like a kid in a candy store"? Well I think it should be changed to "a middle aged woman in a chocolate shop". My jaw literally dropped when I stepped inside. You can sample their delicious small batch chocolates and find exactly what you are craving. Not only is this shop adorable and well laid out, I could not believe the sheer variety and uniqueness of their products... and that was just in the store section. They also have a "cafe" area with fresh made treats, drinks and baked goods... Really anything you could want! We purchased a variety of chocolate dipped fruits, truffles and some melted hot chocolate to wash it all down with. But my absolute favorite thing we got was their chocolate silk pie! Delicious!! This is a great shop if you're looking for treats for a chocolate lover or just to treat yourself. I can't wait to visit again.

My partner went to high school with the owners so we enjoy supporting their business when we are in town. They offer a wide variety of chocolates and we appreciate being able to sample everything, as sometimes our favorite flavors are not what we would expect. Staff are welcoming and courteous, and the shop has an elegant & inviting ambiance.

tl;dr this hidden gem in an otherwise sleepy town is an excellent option for sophisticated chocolate and chocolate-adjacent cafe fare When I visited Old Town Eureka, I wasn't expecting to find any memorable food, much less one of the world's premier chocolatiers. But Dick Taylor Craft Chocolate is just that. Many of their single-origin chocolate bars have even been recognized by the International Chocolate Awards and the Academy of Chocolates. And their flagship Eureka store hosts all of their critically acclaimed products, with a dedicated coffee shop and cafe to boot. The boutique makes its home in a vast converted warehouse. The space is immediately welcoming and accented by personal touches. Expansive windows and bright lighting fixtures amplify the clean, whitewashed walls. To the left, counters are curated with Dick Taylor chocolates and other local products, feeling more like an art gallery than a candy shop. To the right, light-wood tables (each decked with a flower standing within a glass bottle) are arranged in front of a vast coffee bar. Canoes, twinkle lights, and sound-dampening pads hang from the exposed ductwork and beams high overhead. Mellow instrumental plays around the room. My partner and I visited soon before closing on a weekday, but Dick Taylor still boasted a surprising stream of customers. We opted to try the Belize Single Origin Drinking Chocolate. Even though it was billed as the lightest hot chocolate option, it remained deliciously intense. The heavy clotted cream was more reminiscent of ice cream than Starbucks whipped cream. Meanwhile, our Tanzanian-sourced Chocolate Mousse was light yet full-bodied, and we enjoyed the accompanying vanilla-forward whipped cream. Neither creation channeled the bitterest of dark chocolate, and neither was overwhelmingly sweet. Our bill was just $10 -- in the city, I could easily imagine a store charging double. After our eats, we perused the shop section and were quickly drawn in by some dangerously delicious samples. Before we knew it, we were spending another $30 on chocolate Christmas gifts (which ended up being hits!). Dick Taylor is a hidden gem, and a visit here is a must for any chocolate lover passing through Eureka.

I really did not expect there to be a full-fledged chocolate shop and factory in Eureka, but here we are. This was one of the must-do items in Eureka so was excited to come. Inside the store has a lot of different chocolate items as well as a lot of samplers to try. I ordered the Vanilla Bean Hot Chocolate and it was unlike any other hot chocolates I have ever had. I felt that that it almost had a bit of a bitter taste to it, like they used dark choclate or latte-esque techniques. The foam on top as well as the homemade whipped cream was what added to the sweetness. It was definitely very interesting and I do appreciate that it was not overly sweet. Overall, I would recommend coming here to try at least one of their drinks or menu items as well as the free samples. Also if you're looking for a bathroom and a drink of water while in Old Town Eureka, this is a good place to go.

This Chocolate Factory makes me want to sing: "Deck the halls with boughs of Chocolate Fa la la la la, la la la la (fa la la la la, la la la la)"Tis the season to be jolly"...I am so happy I came here during the Holiday Season because it just makes everything extra sweet and special. Located in Old Town Eureka, it's a beautiful location, their building is super nice, cute decor and it smells like you are inside of a huge chocolate bar, in the middle of a Hallmark Christmas Town YUM! The staff is cheerful, welcoming and very knowledgeable. Sweetest place! chocolates are hand crafted, one-of-a-kind and delicious, they offer samples for you to decide which ones you want to take home. They have a cute sitting area, my sister and I really enjoyed our "coconut iced mocha", "vanilla bean chocolate" and sweets. We also enjoyed the perfect sweater weather! Happy Holidays Yelpies XOXO!

This place is HUGE and it's right next to the Riverfront and in a popular area. Tons of choices to select. Certain areas has samples in a jar. It also a coffee area. Price was up there. People seemed ok. There is also an area where you see them make the chocolate.

We stumbled upon this amazing chocolate shop driving through the town. As soon as you walk in, the clean, well decorated, spacious shop feels welcoming and inviting. The space is well designed and allows you the time to browse. There is plenty of seating for the cafe, which has many appealing treats and beverages. We had some chocolate covered fruit, baked goods, and hot chocolate. All were delicious! We were granted the opportunity to sample quite a few items to decide what items we wanted. We purchased a variety of our favorites. The service was spectacular. Everyone is friendly, seems to enjoy what they do, and are knowledgeable about chocolate. Most notable were Nat, Hayley (sp?), and a gentleman whose name I didn't catch.

Gluten free desserts?

They have rice crispies and chocolates without gluten, however I don't believe anything is certified gf because the facility could have cross contamination

The line wasn't too long of a wait, despite it being busy and understaffed. They had a cute location, and I really liked the dark wood throughout. They had a dedicated area for sitting, and some things like board games available for groups to enjoy while sipping their beverage of choice. I got a mocha frappé and enjoyed it. It hit the spot on a sunny Eureka day. To my surprise, I got a freebie, with the barista making more than what would fit in the cup. The excess was poured into an additional cup, and given for free. That was awesome. Speaking of the staff, they were great. Despite being a busy day and not many people working, they pushed through and i saw them handle all types of attitudes and customers with great care. I enjoyed my drink here for sure.

I came early in the morning and only had a donut and small coffee there and the price was reasonable. They have a seating area in front of their counter and a larger seating area adjacent. Lovely wall art that appears to be from local artist. I really want to give it 5 stars - the only downside was - and I have to be honest - there was a homeless man who came into the cafe and started yelling repeatedly at the clerk and other patrons. This is NOT the fault of the owners but when I'm in side of a restaurant or cafe and eating I think it's reasonable to want to feel safe. This was early in the morning and after this aggressive person left there were steadily more and more customers coming in and I felt safer/better This is a great place and I hope anyone who is visiting Eureka to stop by and enjoy this popular place

Parking is plentiful and the location makes it convenient to grab from downtown. My favorite part of the menu was that fact that you can order a flight of ice cream, which are priced at $6 for 4 scoops or $11.50 for 8 scoops. It's a GREAT way to have customers try different flavors without overwhelming the sample spoons (PS I don't think this place does samples). I ordered a 4 flight of Mango Habanero, Chocolate Hazelnut, Dream Sweet Cream, and Cherry. The Mango Habanero had a good occasional kick of habaneros in an otherwise sweet ice cream. The chocolate hazelnut was dark but not very nutty - I think it's a safe pick. The sweet cream tasted like a mcdonald's ice cream cone (but perhaps healthier), and the cherry flavor can be avoided as it didn't taste like anything close to cherry. The line was a little slower than expected, but the pricing is very fair, especially for the flights. Service was friendly, and I think their menu changes some flavors ever so often.

The reservations get filled quickly so you have to call the day before to reserve a private hot tub or sauna session. We arrived a bit early to our reservation so we stopped by the coffee shop first and I had to order the hot chocolate with added whipped cream because it looked so good from other reviewers photos. And oh my god, it was the best hot chocolate I've ever had!!! It's so rich with a strong chocolate flavor without being too sweet. And the mountain of homemade whipped cream was such a treat and made the whole drink even more decadent and creamy. I also wanted to note the design of the coffee shop felt like I was being transported to a rustic Scandinavian lodge or something, which was really cool. When it was time for our hot tub reservation, we walked through the courtyard to our hot tub and changing area. Each reservation gets their own private hot tub so you don't need to share with anyone else. The space is completely private and can't be seen from anyone outside in the courtyard. It was really nice because the hot tub area had no roof and was open to the air, so you could enjoy the sky and trees feel like you're relaxing "outdoors," and there was even a heated outside shower to rinse off before changing back. The whole thing was such a unique experience and I kept thinking about that hot chocolate, so I had to come one more time the next day before my flight to have it again because I don't know when I'll ever be in Arcata again.
