This place is great! We are here 3 times while visiting. Their burgers, mashed potato, and clam chowder were amazing! The root beer floats were also soooo good! Oh also the chicken sandwich was amazing. The girls at the counter were consistently friendly, kind and attentive in answering questions. They're also prepping drinks, ice creams etc while taking orders so they're really on their stuff! The space is cute, you order at the counter and pick up after yourself so if you don't like that this might not be the place but they have outside and indoor seating, they also have blankets if you're cold which is a nice and thoughtful touch. Ordering is at the counter, self-seating, bus your table afterwards. Staff do clean the tables regularly too. Stopped here on a recommendation from a local working for the Redwood National Park as we were jonesing for ice cream and she said they had really good homemade. Friendly and speedy service for this nice sit down place where you order your food from the counter. There was chronically a line out the door at dinner time on a Tuesday. The garlic fries were super greasy and crispy. The homemade sodas went well with them. I enjoyed the BBQ tofu burger which was more of a slab of tofu than an actual burger, which was fine. If I was local I could see going there often. It seemed to be a popular place. The art on the walls, on the ceiling, and in the bathroom, we're done by a local artist who happened to be dining in the establishment at the time so it was nice to meet her and hear about the art. read more

We came here because we were staying nearby and my kids were craving ice cream. The ice cream was so good. They had blueberry and vanilla in waffle cones. We also ordered dinner food which was just ok. That savory waffle with all the fixings was not good at all. We all took a bite and moved on. The highlight was the smoked tuna melt. Our fish and chips order had amazing fish that was not your typical frozen fare. It was cooked perfectly and non-greasy. The fries had great potential but came out cool to touch. We were so disappointed today. We ordered two cones "all the way" and garlic fries. The garlic fries were soooo over cooked and very greasy. The consistency of the mashed potatoes was gluey and the "house made" waffle cones (which are usually so delicious!) were also over done, almost burnt. The cones were somewhat edible but we barely touched the fries. The cleanliness of this place had really taking a turn- the front glass doors were dirty and the floors were filthy. My husband ordered a Lost Coast root beer that is "on tap" and there was little carbonation and it was not cold. The staff barely looked up while taking orders or serving food. The good vibes just weren't there like they use to be. We regret going out of our way to eat here. Sadly I don't think we will be returning. The fish and chips were greasy and bland -- hardly deserving of the title "catch of the day." If this is fresh, I'd hate to imagine what it's like after a few days. Worst fish and chips ever. The fish sandwich didn't fare any better. It was undercooked and equally lacking in flavor. I found myself reaching for ketchup just to make the meal somewhat bearable -- never a good sign for seafood. To top it off, the service was lacking. A young blonde staff member interrupted our waitress mid-order without so much as an apology, which was rude and unprofessional. Overall, a very underwhelming experience. Came here at 3pm today-Tuesday. We took a look at the menu and placed our order. A service fee is charged at time of ordering-no clue what it's for but it must be standard because it was there whether I paid cash or card. Food shows up and looks good. My wife and I both got the fish and chips and very solid portions. My son had the kids cheeseburger and it looked good. My other son had the chicken strips. I asked for malt vinegar for our fish and the gal looks at the condiment table and says she will go get some from the back. Comes back out and says to me "we are out of vinegar" and directly behind me is a grocery store. Really she didn't care and I guess I don't blame her-management must not really expect problem solving or empower the employees to fix problems. I get up, go to the store and buy some. Problem solved. I even left the malt vinegar there so other patrons won't have to wait a few days for the Sysco truck to show up and deliver some. read more

My friends and I stopped by The Lighthouse Grill for a quick dinner on our drive home after a weekend of hiking. We found it on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I ordered the Lighthouse Jammin' Burger with a gluten-free bun, a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, and a side salad with ranch. While I appreciated the gluten-free bun option, the burger itself was disappointing. The jalapeño jelly and goat cheese were barely noticeable, and the flavor overall was underwhelming. Two of my friends also ordered the same burger, but requested it well-done, and it came out rare--so they had to send it back to be remade. The mashed potatoes and gravy were bland, but the side salad was refreshing and had a nice variety of veggies. I also tried their ginger lemonade, which was decent. We arrived around 4:30 PM when it wasn't busy, but with only two people working (one at the counter and one in the back), the wait for our food was quite long. This delayed our trip home more than we expected. Overall, The Lighthouse Grill was an okay stop, but I wouldn't go out of my way to return. The food is basically fast food quality at much higher prices. I had the grilled fish sandwich and garlic fries. The fries were extremely overpriced at $8.95. The sandwich was OK. While the proportion was very generous, the fries were extremely disappointing. They were very greasy and not close to crispy. The Parmesan was scarce and the garlic dip not really very garlicky. I and my family often vacation this area in the summers. This year we started early. On our way home we stopped by and I inadvertently left my purse hanging on the back of a chair and didn't realize it til I got home to Redding. My heart was in my stomach. I called after 5PM on a Sunday and they answered. Yes they had my purse. Melissa the manager went completely out of her way the next day to ship it back to me. Really enjoyed the taste of the final product, despite the bun. My husband had a BBQ Tofu "burger", as unfortunately they have removed Nut Burgers from the menu. (I was told they were popular, but too much work.) They've been replaced by Beyond Burger options, which he avoids. Another local restaurant I just CANNOT SUPPORT anymore! They waited 25 minutes to tell me they were out of gluten free bread for my sandwich while I waited super hungry after a long hike. Don't mess with hangry. When gluten free folks order something, they need to be told right there and then that the place it OUT OF GLUTEN FREE bread! So my family got their food and I got my money back plus fake smiles and attitude from a young crappy attitude girl who couldn't bother taking any responsibility for not having their crap together and knowing that they are out of something. It's called an 86 board, ever heard of it? Use it! We are Trinidad locals ok, our whole lives and just cannot support this business anymore. The last three times there have been problems from over-cooked and inedible french fries and chicken strips, over salted french fried to the point of just toss them. After a day visiting the Redwood National Park, we found this jewel. After the Lady Bird Grove trail, we found the best fish, jam burger and open faced roast beef.
