I love trying out new places! Now we came after Dustin D. picked me up from work, so we probably got here around 6. It wasn't busy, but I can see how it would be packed for lunch. The place is clean and the guys behind the counter were informative and friendly. We actually met both owners, and they were both great. I love how they have a lot of different options from different greens to toppings to dressings! I got a Metropolitan Club. Now I'm not sure about the salads (they do look leafy), but this sandwich was the PERFECT amount of everything. I could definitely see myself getting this every time I come. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Of course it has blue cheese, so if you don't like that, I might stay away from it. But I got it with avocado ranch It was perfection for me though. Dustin D. was hesitant about this place only because if he's eating a sandwich, he doesn't want it to taste like a salad. Not the case here, you're definitely eating a sandwich, only the innards are mixed together. They toss most of the ingredients into a bowl, and send a baguette through the toaster. On the other side, they dice up your meat and then your salad. This part is a bit time consuming. (Not SUPER time consuming, but I can see how it would slow down lunch.) It also seems like the workers are still getting used to the mezzaluna knife. Not sure how it would affect it, but it might be easier to chop or slice the meat as prep option, since it's sliced up separate from the salad anyways. Now that everything is mixed up, they drizzle the a little dressing and toss it. A heel side of the bread is snipped off, and they use tongs to efficiently hollow out the bread. ( I do hope they use this for croutons or something because the inside of bread is the best part!) Then they go into the stuffing of the sandwich. It is stuffed tight to make sure you have the most out of your sandwich. Now I know my sandwich isn't for everyone, but it is the perfect blend of flavors and textures, and couldn't be more perfect for me. I also got the chicken and wild rice soup. I can't tell if it's made fresh or not. It has a strong flavor, but a little on the salty side. (Might be less salty during lunch!) Oh, and they have Zappos chips and cherry coke as a drink choice. So I am not entirely sure this is the restaurant's fault but it goes to the whole experience. I have been there twice and both times parking was a zoo. Not sure if there are too many restaurants in the shopping center or not enough parking but it is really crowded at lunch time. Then Bread Zepplin is a victim of their own success because it was so crowded that there weren't any seats so we had to sit outside on an uncomfortably cold day. So I will give it a while to die down and will go back because for me the food is above average, but not so far above average in order to sit outside in the cold to eat it. read more

I loved the crunch of the warm bread and the inside was like nothing I have ever tasted at a sandwich shop, and the ingredients were fresh. Salads. In hollowed out bread. It's actually much better than it sounds, to be honest. Yeah, they put salads in hollowed out bread which they call "zeppelins." If you don't like your salad as a zeppelin, you can just have it in a bowl. They have many salad combinations to choose from... Had the Washington State (grilled chicken, apples, walnuts, beets, bleu cheese crumbles, and arcadian lettuce mix, mixed champagne vinaigrette). It was stuffed into a roll that had been toasted immediately prior, so everything tasted so fresh. The employees are really friendly and ask you how you're doing while making your food in front of you. They have around 10-12 salads/zeppelins to choose from, though you have the option of making your own. All in all, it's surprisingly good and I definitely would eat here again! Though there are other more well-known places to eat in and around the plaza, Bread Zeppelin is definitely worth a shot and just as good--and, in some cases, better--than many of the other eateries nearby. read more

I love this place. If you can make it beyond the loooonnnnnggg line, you're in for a treat! They have a wonderful selection of fresh ingredients. You can choose from one of their standard offerings or create your own. Start with the greens, then veggies / fruit, on to the protein / cheeses. They chop it all up add your choice of dressings (they have a lot) and stuff it into a fresh crusty bread roll (Zeppelin) or put it back into the bowl - your choice. When I get the bowl, i usually ask for some of the bread ends or insides they remove from the roll. The employees are nice and quick. I desperately wanted to LOVE this place. I wanted this to be my Spot. I wanted to eat here every. Single. Day. After gawking at the beautiful photographs in their menu, I was excited about my salad -- there were going to be plenty of toppings, but not too much...things were going to stay healthy! Well, they stayed healthy all right. As you can see from my uploaded photograph, you can barely see any toppings from the outside, and things don't get any better when you open up your salad. (FYI, I ordered: greens - kale/spinach mix; included toppings - beets/corn/carrots/pumpkin seeds/egg/roasted red peppers; extra toppings - flank steak/avocado). I have to admit, though, I had a bad feeling when he was preparing the salad. I think the company has trained its employees to fill the bowls all the way up with greens -- until they're overflowing -- so there's no room for toppings. Plus, although they have different serving spoons for each topping, the spoon size seems to *max out* at a tablespoon. A tablespoon is .5 ounces. A Bread Zeppelin bowl holds 48 ounces. 3 ounces of toppings versus 45 ounces of greens is NOT a tasty ratio. :( I had a couple bites of salad and now i'm eating a bag of Cheez-Its for lunch. Once I get over my (admittedly melodramatic) disappointment, I think I'd go back...but I'd ask them to only fill the salad bowl 3/4 of the way full of greens. I don't expect them to give me extra toppings, but at least I'll have a better toppings:greens ratio, and I'll actually eat my $12 salad. read more

Found a new (to me) salad place! I got the Washington Zeppelin with orange vinaigrette. They build your salad first, chop it up, then stuff the salad into toasted bread making it a salad sandwich. The dressing was light, just the way I like it. The apples gave it a sight sweet taste. Service was great for lunch time. This is a fantastic salad or salad sandwich shop. I truly enjoyed my lonestar zeppelin. It's a very cool concept with the finest ingredients. There are so many topping, protein and dressing options. The only two pitfalls are the price $12 seems high for a quick lunch but like I said it is the highest quality in my opinion. It definitely won't keep me from going, it just can't be an all the time place. The other short coming is the timeliness of getting your food. The line is fairly slow moving but again still worth it. I recommend off peak hours, I.e. 11a or 1p. The facility is very clean and the staff is super friendly. read more

This is a nice alternative to a straight up salad bar. I alternate between getting a bowl or getting the salad in the loaf of bread, depending on if I want more salad than not, because it seems you do get more salad in a bowl versus getting it in the loaf of bread. As for the salad sandwich, the bread is hollowed out after it is thoroughly heated through and is nice and crisp. It doesn't unpleasantly warm up the salad, either. I always get the Metropolitan Cobb. You can indicate how much dressing you want and how much extras you want, like red pepper flakes, etc. Maybe a tad bit pricey for what you get, but the ingredients are fresh and they have a good variety. read more

Was skeptical at first by how all of those toppings and lettuce would fit into the bowl they used, but really impressed after I received my huge salad. They pile everything on top together and then at the end of the line dump the ingredients out and chop everything up and put it back into the bowl. It ends up being a really big salad that is extremely filling!! They have lots of fresh ingredients you can try, but there are extra cost for meats, avocado, bacon and crumbled egg ($1.50-$2.50). The salad by itself with 6 free toppings starts at $6.99. Or you can get it inside a baguette for $5.49. I ended up walking out of there paying $8.50 for a huge yummy salad. I wasn't too sure about Bread Zeppelin - a salad stuffed in toasted bread, what could be so good about that? Well, the answer is A LOT! The ingredients are fresh, you really get to create your very own perfect meal and the price point is great as well. The options are endless whether its build your own or by selecting one of their creations on the menu board. The bread is toasted for each order with a quick oven ala Pie Five and it is delicious! Nice and fresh and warm but not too hot - I feel bad for the workers who have to de-stuff each the baguettes with each order but the results are a winner! Not in the mood for a sandwich? This was our first time here; we found out about it the other day but didn't have time to make the drive. I was very excited to go today though. It's a little store in a shopping strip and inside is pretty modest, but it smells really good. I got the Southwest because I knew I would like the flavors no matter what. The first thing you notice is that all of the ingredients look super fresh. I have never been anywhere with this food line format where when you order avocado, they scoop it out of the actual avocado and it's not pre-cut slices in a tub. They also put a TON of ingredients shoved into your Zepplin, a toasted bread roll that broke my heart (but just because you watch them scoop the carby goodness out of the roll and into a trash bin for just bread insides. I wanted to ask if we could just buy the bread guts. I would eat those. All. Day. Even though all of the bread was scooped out, I loved my Zepplin. You can taste the freshness and you feel like you're eating healthy, but it's also a filling meal that is absolutely delicious. For a Zepplin, chips, and a drink, it was just over 11 bucks which I think is a really good deal. We will definitely be back to try other varieties. read more

Oh man, I was really conflicted on giving this place a three or four star: Pros: Tasty and unique, very comparable to Snappy Salads (one of my favorite places). This place chops up your salad right in front of you and (optionally) stuffs it into a baguette! There's tons of customization, you get to choose what's in your salad. Cons: The employees are less professional than the ones at Snappy. The guy making my salad was chatting with his coworker about his weekend plans while I was trying to ask him a question about something on the menu. The food is expensive, over $10 for a salad with chicken (nothing extra, no chips, drink, or cookie), and there's slightly fewer topping choices. Bacon isn't included in the base toppings like it is at Snappy, and you only get 6 instead of 8 toppings. Lastly, the place is incredibly crowded around lunch time. The picture I took was after 1:30pm on a weekday, Oh and also their restrooms are awful. It's a gender-neutral gas station type restroom. read more

For the staff and ambiance. The staff was a little impatient since I had never been there before. The guy making my Zepplin, while not rude, did not seem warm or to like his job much. The ambiance: this place is large, decor industrial, and while functional, not cozy. Hey, that's just my taste. Others might find the ambiance appealing. Great concept of customizing your own salad bowl or salad stuffed inside fresh baguette bread. I like the vast options of salad toppings that they have. The prices are moreso on the end high end but that's the price you pay for healthy. The zeppelin starts off as a 8 inch but when they cut off one end it gets a tad shorter. They also take out the stuffing inside the bread and pulls it out with the end and throws it in a bowl. They use the scraps to make croutons for the salads. I actually watched the part owner make it with a lot of care. I guess he was perfecting the right amount of seasoning. This place is for sure a first place of choice when I want something to eat in a quick and casual setting. read more

My husband and I love this place. The subs (zeppelins) are fantastic. Imagine a salad of your own design stuffed into a sour dough bread. We love going because it is a health option that we both enjoy. I personally love the lone star, which has steak. I have not tried a lot of the choices because I LOVE the lone star. The salads are huge! It takes me two meals to complete them, sometimes even three. The soup is great as well. My husband loves that they carry zapp's chips. We have had hit or miss experiences with the staff, but I am going to give them a 5 star rating because we enjoy the food so much. read more

I really had no clue what to expect. I cant recall ever having anything like a zeppelin before, but I was in love after first bite. The first time I ordered a metropolitian cobb with avocado ranch. I asked to have the bread innards since they were going to make croutons out of them. The bread is nothing short of delightful. Their ovens make the bread wonderfully crispy and flaky! The salad itself is a symphony of flavors. The dressing really ties everything together. The only complaint I have is the price, but Its the quality of the ingredient that cause this. I had no idea that was the case, but that's what I ended up ordering. They have a wide variety of salad options, or you can create your own salad. I ordered the Tejano Caesar from a recommendation and added bacon to it. IT WAS REALLY GOOD. Service was pretty quick, so I was out the door in a few minutes. The line does go by pretty fast. Ordered a pickup meal for me and my family. Got home to find that all of our reg. sized zeppelins were only half full of salad. ‍ And it was a pretty flat zeppelin, too. It's not like it was all bunched at the bottom. It looked like my 5 year old's kids zeppelin had more in it than mine. And this is the second time this has happened for us at this location. Needless to say... this visit did not redeem the last one.
