They offered to split the sandwich for us and they came out on own plates with chips and a pickle - no extra cost. It was greatly appreciated. The bread was heavenly. It had plenty of chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado and a pesto that was light and added the perfect fresh basil touch! They've expanded to the space nextdoor which has added about 18 new tables, a restroom, and two kiosks you can order from. You can alo still order at the counter. I spent 25 years in New Jersey, and I miss 2 food experiences in Texas: solid Chinese fare and Jewish delis. A neighbor suggested Weinberger's for a pastrami fix. Normally, I don't consider people from St. Louis to be credible deli evaluators, but I was desperate and made the hour drive to Grapevine. We got there at 11:15 and the line was nearly to the door. Within 30 minutes, it was well out into the street. That was a promising sign. The sandwich menu covered the entire wall over the counter. Lots of non-New-York sandwiches like Cubans, gyros, etc, but over in the left corner were the classic Ruebens and pastramis. I went for the latter. A REAL NY deli usually has a few soups like split pea and chicken noodle and matzoh. No soups. Bummer. They had a half dozen sides - 3 kinds of potato salads and a few slaws. I went with the German potato salad. The drink option was spartan - they tossed a styrofoam cup at me and pointed to the soda fountain. The pastrami sandwich was OK for Texas. A SUPER pastrami sandwich on hard rye can get me moaning like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" -- only I don't have to fake it. The German potato salad was watery and bland - I should have gone with the mustard potato salad. Turnaround was on the slow side. Napkins = paper towel roll on table. Flimsy plasticware. So I have been here a few times and while the food was good it was an awful experience because you were elbow to elbow with patrons and in a hurry to eat because others were eyeing you for your table. Soooooooo now that they remodeled and expanded the dining experience was great! Other than the fact that they serve Pepsi. The ordering is a bit like the "Soup N***i" like on Seinfeld; you better be ready to order when it's your turn. I found it funny and they are really quick to get your order started and then you pay. It's interesting that the kitchen runs with minimum employees working. My husband loved his Mark Cuban sandwich, the mustard taste was key for him and I really liked the Pastrami which is the classic sandwich toasted on marble rye bread, cheese, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing. Both served with chips. Love the expansion where there were lots of tables, relaxing view of Main Street. What a treat! We got lucky and was able to park right in front of the restaurant...a line was already out the door. Service as usual was spot on. Super fast! Tried the Dirty Dozen Sub and added mayo. OK, so this is just the sandwich place but the sandwiches are amazing sometimes when you want a sandwich, you really want something hot and they've got great hot sandwiches. They serve them up in these big boats and they add chips and the chips even were very very good. I usually don't eat chips, but I ate every last one comes with a drink as well. There are so many sandwiches to pick from and the problem is they're all good according to my friend that I went with lunchtime plan extra time because there will be a line we went around 2:30 yeah we had a busy day so we had to skip out on lunch at regular lunchtime by the time we got to this place we were starving Marvin, but that was OK. This Chicago-style deli is legit with a massive menu!! The options felt endless, it was so hard to choose. Make sure you're prepared when you walk up to the counter-- I thought I was until the dude started rattling off "wet" or "dry" and the list of toppings. I threw up my hands and said "I'm an amateur, this is my first time here!" He slowed it down and walked me through ordering, lol. I went with the Italian beef, dry with the juice on the side. We ordered from one of the kiosks and our food came out so fast! I got the Dogwood + Bacon, which came with plenty of meat/toppings, and was an amazing sandwich overall. If I could dig for one critique, I think it could've used just a touch more sauce/aioli. Overall, amazing flavor and such a good sandwich. We also got the Ciabatta Bomb due to how many great reviews we've seen of this sandwich. Maybe the quality of the cold cuts could have been slightly better, but we definitely preferred the Dogwood over the Ciabatta Bomb. The Ciabatta Bomb was just a bit chewy with the cuts we had, BUT, the cuts had really good flavor. I do think that both sandwiches were just a touch dry, so next time I would maybe add pickle to the Dogwood cause it was amazing with the pickle on the side, and the Ciabatta bomb could maybe use more of the sauce that goes with it. I usually keep it simple when it comes to subs but since the ciabatta bomb seems to be the crowd favorite, I gave it a try because why not. I did have the onions removed, however. Not a fan of raw onions. The sandwich was really good, very flavorful as everyone has stated. It came with potato chips and a pickle spear. I've gotten into a rut where all I order anymore is The Bourdain. It's great, and honestly, for the size of the sandwich you get, and the way fast food pricing is nowadays, for a couple bucks more, you get a sandwich that's twice the size of the fast food joints, and a bag of chips and pickle. For the last year or so, when I've wanted a sandwich, I just drag my butt up here. They just added on space, so no more winding around the poor people trying to sit and eat their meals. The meat seems pretty good and there was a healthy portion on the sub, but why is the bread so flat? Kind of like a flat hot dog bun. I always expect Italian subs to be on the style bread that is about 3-4 inches thick and this was some just average bread that was very grocery store style imo and completely flat. Is it supposed to be that way? Anyway, I liked the sandwich except for the sad flat bread. Oh and they left out 2 items I ordered and paid for, but the manager said he would reverse the charge. Well, the reviews and the rating speak for themselves. We expected it to be really good and it was. Very traditional deli sandwich place, better than most around this area. It's good enough to be in New York or Chicago. A good if peculiar location. We passed this place over for ages thinking "how good can a deli be HERE?" Boy, I'm glad I noticed the reviews and decided to walk in, it's fantastic. We got some straight-forward items, I got the Italian Sub, and it was fantastic. Not used to the veggies being included like this, but it really made it fresher and more rounded. See the pics. Service was as quick as it should be, and friendly. The dining area is a bit small for the crowds it attracts, but I suppose that fits the urban deli feel. Anyway, I do love my sandwich shops, and this one is a winner. It came on a poppyseed hoagie containing thin freshly sliced chicken with buffalo sauce, ranch, bacon, cheese, jalapeño, tomato, red onion, cucumber, and spinach.
