I spent 25 years in New Jersey, and I miss 2 food experiences in Texas: solid Chinese fare and Jewish delis. A neighbor suggested Weinberger's for a pastrami fix. Normally, I don't consider people from St. Louis to be credible deli evaluators, but I was desperate and made the hour drive to Grapevine. We got there at 11:15 and the line was nearly to the door. Within 30 minutes, it was well out into the street. That was a promising sign. The sandwich menu covered the entire wall over the counter. Lots of non-New-York sandwiches like Cubans, gyros, etc, but over in the left corner were the classic Ruebens and pastramis. I went for the latter. A REAL NY deli usually has a few soups like split pea and chicken noodle and matzoh. No soups. Bummer. They had a half dozen sides - 3 kinds of potato salads and a few slaws. I went with the German potato salad. The drink option was spartan - they tossed a styrofoam cup at me and pointed to the soda fountain. The pastrami sandwich was OK for Texas. A SUPER pastrami sandwich on hard rye can get me moaning like Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" -- only I don't have to fake it. The German potato salad was watery and bland - I should have gone with the mustard potato salad. Turnaround was on the slow side. Napkins = paper towel roll on table. Flimsy plasticware. OK, so this is just the sandwich place but the sandwiches are amazing sometimes when you want a sandwich, you really want something hot and they've got great hot sandwiches. They serve them up in these big boats and they add chips and the chips even were very very good. I usually don't eat chips, but I ate every last one comes with a drink as well. There are so many sandwiches to pick from and the problem is they're all good according to my friend that I went with lunchtime plan extra time because there will be a line we went around 2:30 yeah we had a busy day so we had to skip out on lunch at regular lunchtime by the time we got to this place we were starving Marvin, but that was OK. So I have been here a few times and while the food was good it was an awful experience because you were elbow to elbow with patrons and in a hurry to eat because others were eyeing you for your table. Soooooooo now that they remodeled and expanded the dining experience was great! Other than the fact that they serve Pepsi. The ordering is a bit like the "Soup N***i" like on Seinfeld; you better be ready to order when it's your turn. I found it funny and they are really quick to get your order started and then you pay. It's interesting that the kitchen runs with minimum employees working. My husband loved his Mark Cuban sandwich, the mustard taste was key for him and I really liked the Pastrami which is the classic sandwich toasted on marble rye bread, cheese, sauerkraut and thousand island dressing. Both served with chips. Love the expansion where there were lots of tables, relaxing view of Main Street. I usually keep it simple when it comes to subs but since the ciabatta bomb seems to be the crowd favorite, I gave it a try because why not. I did have the onions removed, however. I've gotten into a rut where all I order anymore is The Bourdain. It's great, and honestly, for the size of the sandwich you get, and the way fast food pricing is nowadays, for a couple bucks more, you get a sandwich that's twice the size of the fast food joints, and a bag of chips and pickle. For the last year or so, when I've wanted a sandwich, I just drag my butt up here. They just added on space, so no more winding around the poor people trying to sit and eat their meals. Well, the reviews and the rating speak for themselves. We expected it to be really good and it was. Very traditional deli sandwich place, better than most around this area. It's good enough to be in New York or Chicago. A good if peculiar location. We passed this place over for ages thinking "how good can a deli be HERE?" Boy, I'm glad I noticed the reviews and decided to walk in, it's fantastic. We got some straight-forward items, I got the Italian Sub, and it was fantastic. This was actually the best sandwich I've ever had! I got the best damn buffalo chicken sandwich. It came on a poppyseed hoagie containing thin freshly sliced chicken with buffalo sauce, ranch, bacon, cheese, jalapeño, tomato, red onion, cucumber, and spinach. The guys in there really know how to make you remember them in a great way. I loved this shop. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating along with tons of sauce packet options. First time here due to the great reviews. Had Reuben as that's my favorite go to when it comes to sandwiches. Got here early around 1130a, and there was already a small line of people. Presentation looked fine as it comes with some potato chips and a pickle. The reuben was good size with proportion of meat and sauerkraut and sauce. Overall, it was good. What could be better? The rye bread, I can usually taste the rye bread with its nutty and earthy taste, but not today. The meat, it was proportioned as mentioned, but it's a little less than Jason's deli where they gave 1/2 pounds of corned beef. The size of restaurant was a bit small as we barely got a table and there were people standing right over me as I'm trying to eat. Of course, this is great for business, but not for me as a customer that just wants to eat my lunch with some elbow room. Lastly, i do hope this can be better, which is the air inside, which I didn't know until I left the restaurant and can smell the difference. As mentioned, it was raining today so i had my brand new rain coat on. Well, it's now smelling like food and grease. Now that im home, I can smell myself, my shirts and everything, which i will take another shower again. I know to complain about the smell of food is one thing, but when you're at home, thats different than being at the restaurant. And now, I also need to wash or clean the brand new rain coat. However, the stretching of the mozzarella cheese was a bit of a letdown. Although not serving brunch, the sandwich came with a sunny side up egg. The sesame bun held up surprisingly well even after the yolk broke. The sriracha and cherry peppers provided a satisfying amount of heat with each bite. This place was jam packed when we went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon around noon! The line was out the door, but it moved fairly quickly considering how many people were in line. We were at the ordering counter in 15 minutes and we were outside the door when we arrived. The restaurant is tiny. The tables fit parties of 4 or smaller. I wouldn't recommend coming here with a larger party than that. You can always order to go and sit at a nearby park! They do have some seating outside on their patio, but not much. With a menu that seems to go on forever, offering everything from classic subs to unique creations, it's definitely a spot that demands multiple visits. We split the Bourdain, a hot sub loaded with grilled mortadella, bacon, lemon mayo mustard, Swiss cheese, giardiniera peppers, and more, all packed into a garlic-toasted sesame hoagie. The flavors worked well together, with the giardiniera adding a nice tangy kick. Will definitely ask for extra giardiniera on my next sandwich of choose if it callas for it. For sides, we had the mustard potato salad, which was solid and flavorful, and the jalapeño coleslaw, which was just ok for me, not as spicy as I expected. This location adds to the charm of downtown Grapevine , making it a great stop while exploring the area.
