A graceful 3. I stopped by this place with my daughter for the first time on a random weekday…read more Before I begin, let me just say this: first impressions really are everything. When we walked in, no one greeted us or explained how the ordering process worked. We took our time looking over the menu and were pretty much left to figure things out on our own. To be fair, one employee was checking out customers and another appeared to be preparing food, so I can give a little grace there. After about 3-5 minutes, someone came from the back and politely asked how he could help. I mentioned that it was our first visit, and he instructed us to order our sandwiches with him. After taking our order, he immediately started preparing the sandwiches. Unfortunately, no directions were given about what to do next. We moved over to what appeared to be the sandwich topping station, where another employee was working. He never acknowledged us, and by that point, both the cashier and sandwich prep employee had disappeared to the back. We grabbed a bag of chips and headed toward the register, assuming maybe toppings weren't part of the process. When the cashier eventually returned, she looked at us as if she was wondering why we were standing there. I explained that it was our first time and that we hadn't received any instructions. She quickly apologized and gave us a rundown of how everything worked. As it turned out, our sandwiches were simply waiting to be dressed with toppings. While she was helping us, the employee who had been standing at the topping station the entire time walked off carrying completed sandwiches. I'm assuming he was handling to-go or catering orders, but his lack of acknowledgment made the experience feel a little cold and unwelcoming. Once we got through the ordering process, things improved. The young lady finished our sandwiches, checked us out, and we decided to dine in since the wind outside changed our plans to enjoy the patio. The décor was interesting, with lots of unique things to look at and talk about. We also loved the family feel of the space and the large windows that filled the restaurant with beautiful natural light. The sandwiches did the job and filled us up for lunch. The taste was decent, but I feel like I could have made better choices had I understood the ordering process from the beginning. This feels like a place that's very comfortable for regulars but not necessarily geared toward first-time visitors. Would I return? It's not at the top of my list, but I wouldn't completely rule it out either.

BBQ seemed too heavy and couldn't figure out a decent one close to my business. Potbelly makes good sandwiches. You'll know exactly what you're getting every time you go. I went with the Cubano (which I cannot say no to on any menu), it was delicious. Had it exactly how menu said in white bread. Flavors were great, the only negative would be the bread but tough to get at a chain restaurant. I recommend any Potbelly if you want a great sandwich from a chain restaurant.

Based on the description and the price, I expected it to be a decent meal and a good overall value. However, once I received my order, I could already tell that most of it was old and inedible. After throwing away the brown lettuce, it was obvious the ingredients were not fresh, and the quality was nowhere near worth the price. It explains why they stuff the ingredients into bread and drown them in dressing--you can't see what they're serving paying customers. I will not order from them again or recommend them for delivery.

Griff's Hamburgers is an Irving institution. My parents were coming here back in their school days,…read moreand it still holds up as one of the best old-school greasy burger joints around. The building is newer and kept really clean, but thankfully the original 1950s-style sign still stands tall--an Irving classic and a reminder of its roots. This isn't fancy cuisine; it's good, greasy, satisfying food done right. The Burgers: Whether you grab a single or double, you'll leave happy. But if you're feeling bold, go triple or even quadruple--it's going to be a monster. Juicy, greasy, exactly what a fast-food burger should be. Sides: Fries are solid, onion rings have a thick, flavorful batter (pretty sure they make them fresh, though I won't swear to it). Both hit the spot. Other Classics: The chicken fried steak sandwich is a gem. Sure, it's a frozen patty, but it's rare to even find this on a fast-food menu anymore. There's something nostalgic and comforting about it. The chicken sandwich is legit, and the hot link sandwich has great flavor if you want to try something different. Dessert: Don't skip the fried apple pie--it's that old-school style McDonald's used to have before they went "healthy" with baked pies. Crispy, hot, and just the right amount of sweet. Drinks: Only downside--if you want a diet drink, they only carry Diet Coke. Griff's, please add Coke Zero or Diet Dr Pepper! That would make a great place even better. And of course, you can't go wrong with a milkshake to top it all off. Bottom line: If you're craving greasy comfort food, nothing beats a Griff's burger. It's fast food in its purest, most nostalgic form, and an Irving landmark that's still worth every visit
