As a local, I love Bol. The staff is amazing, the food is great, and the atmosphere kicks ass! No complaints at all.

bol is an experience. I've been here twice now. The first with a group that took over, maybe 75 of us. This most recent time with 14 participants. The food, the attentiveness and the ambiance have been better than any bowling alley I've ever frequented. I've had the Eaton Ranch Burger both times, but have had a bite of most everything. The chop I saw Saturday was awesome! It can get very loud, but our party ranged from 23 to 84, and everyone would do it again. So why the 4? As a bowling alley it is clearly a 5, as a restaurant it's a 4. If I could give it a 4.5, I would. read more

Bol is one of the coolest places in Vail. The decor is modern and the food is very good. This place with its fixtures and lighting transports you to a different place. A fun place but overpriced even for Vail. My wife and I are now looking for property to build a real bowling alley based on Bols occupancy. A great idea and the atmosphere was neat but the management seemed a little stuffy when asked certain questions. Go there if money is no option. This place was really nice, but with frantic management I can not say I recommend based on my experience. The location (directly in front of the main village) is welcoming, however, it is not clear to not leave the patio, and who thinks about "rules" while on vacation with 20 friends and their children. I am at fault for wondering beyond the gray line with a glass of wine. Management took an aggressive approach that should not be tolerated by the proprietors. I did not return the entire vacation. The food is good and bowling is fun. Sadly, the service and attitude of the management no so good. If a guest has an issue with not being able to sit at the bar in the middle of the day with a 13 year old, one would expect a professional answer and not " We have certain policies in place for good reason and it is regrettable that those policies didn't agree with you. We aim to accommodate guests in any way that we can, and please be assured that we only have the guests in mind when me make these decisions. " Just not the guests with teenagers apparently. I was just curious as to why they put this policy in place? This place is not a night club and fancies itself as a family establishment. I first tried Bol in 2013 and was amazed with the quality of the dishes. Great service, beautiful presentation. There was no question I would return. Tonight, two years later, I came with a party of 7. Every diner found both their appetizer and entree a disappointment. The 50$ chestnut ravioli was cold and was hard and chewy. The ahi sandwich (which was to be served rare) was well done and inedible- topped with a burnt bun. Upon complaining and sending back several dishes, we were surprised the manager never came to talk to us. Come there to bowl- but forget about eating. read more

Came here as soon as we arrived in Vail. Service wasn't great. We both ordered salad, and with my order I specifically said "no prosciutto please" to the waitress as I am a vegetarian. Of course, it comes out with prosciutto. I tell the man who brought it out that I asked for no prosciutto and he mumbles "I don't know" and walks away. I would've thought he would tell the waitress so I wait around 8 minutes for her to come to our table, or at least to the outside area where I could wave her down, and she doesn't. Not wanting to waste anymore time (or keep my boyfriend waiting) I pick it off and put it to the side of my plate and start eating. She finally comes over to ask how everything is and I say "it's good, but I had to pick off the prosciutto" and she said something like "oh yeah, OK" and walks away. I had heard about how great this place was and couldn't wait to try it out. Walking into the place I knew I was somewhere special as I was greated with a New York Yankee fan from Boston, his name is Mark Fitz something and he is a dream-boat!!! After talking trash about how bad Boston sports teams are he allowed us to continue to the bar although we are under-age; Bol is the place to drink for anyone under the age of 21, which is why it is so much fun!!! We had heard about how great the burger was at Bol, the best in the valley, so we each ordered one; the fun part was when they came to escort us to the parking garage were we actually got to shoot our own cow!!! It was fantastic!!! Peter Knoble actually loaded the shotgun for us and told us where to shoot the poor animal, getting to kill my own dinner was such a bonus to our trip, we can't wait to return and kill more animials. The only part about the night that was somewhat new was the dessert, I ordered the Elvis-something that had chocolate and bacon; sounds great, but all it ended up being was a turd dunked in milk...I was nervous at first but the peanuts that Eric, the head chef, added to the piece of poop was fantastic!!! It was easily the best piece of shit I have ever eaten and I can't wait until I get to kill more cattle face to face and eat more poop at Bol. read more

I lived in Vail for about 3 years and this was my main go-to place. Not a fine dining joint, but they switch the menu about as often and take their booze just as seriously. They have had many of the same people working there since opening, its a good staff and a good environment. Bar/lounge up front is great for hanging out. Bowling alley in the back is well separated from bar area for the families etc, so I would recommend for both types of crowds. read more

We came for the food but left with a bad taste in our mouths. On Sunday we decided to try to get lunch and check out the "bowling alley" many of our friends from Houston had visited and raved about the food. I have to tell you I was SO disappointed! I went to ask an employee about the bowling before we even sat down. I spoke to a middle aged, blond woman, who was dressed nicely in white. I assume she was the manager, she was SO rude to me. I couldn't believe how annoyed she was with my questions. We had been in Vail all weekend and were really looking forward to experiencing Bol and what we had heard was some of the best food in town. After the way I was spoken to by that woman. I told my husband we had to leave. As we were leaving, I overheard that same woman speaking profanely to her employees about the customers. BLUE CHEESE and WORMS .Lesson learned. Just because this place was good once doesn't mean it's as good as it once was. This was a complete dumpster fire of a dining experience. It starts by having a waiter that is either uninformed or simply incompetent. The second alarm happened when the kitchen either improvised or went off script by adding blue cheese to my salad. Keep in mind the menu does not say it has blue cheese on it. Being a wedge salad I even asked our "waiter" if it came with blue cheese. He said "oh no" yet it came with blue cheese. I HATE BLUE CHEESE. Second salad comes out ten minutes later after my family had their meals. Again the menu calls for buttermilk dressing ONLY. It says nothing about pouring red wine vinaigrette on the salad WITH it. So I ask the waiter to provide the salad that I ordered. He takes it to the kitchen and comes back and says Oh it comes that way...Are you effing kidding me. However, the final alarm comes when the family I recommended Bol to, eating at the next table, has a WORM in their mussles. Screw this place and their shitty service and food. Not even an offer to take the salad off the bill OR an apology. DO NOT EAT HERE! read more

We went here during our ski trip to Vail and decided to see what Bol was like. What a horrible experience! We love fine dinning and the price tag that usually comes with it, but for the service we got McDonalds would've been better. We had four people with us and had requested to sit in a booth where the seating were padded. Instead we were placed in a table with plastic chairs (not a good feeling if you're skiing all day). When we asked to moved, they told us that booth was only for 6 or more. Ironically, the booths were set for 4 people only (4 plates, 4 glasses, etc). Finally after talking to the manager, he told us that's it's all reserved, but seeing that we were gonna leave he made an exception and moved us to one of the booth. To make matters worst, the place was empty and we later saw on our way out that the other booths had 4 people sitting! This experience ruined our night. There are many other fine dinning in Vail. Went here this past weekend on a friday night... not a great experience. I want to start with the fact that the service was really good so I am giving all of my stars to the service and service staff. The facility itself is gorgeous and upscale and the food and wine list is great. We were greeted promptly and assigned a lane and our server was great. The downfall of the night was the fact that there was a group of 30 or so 12 year olds right next to us that ruined the evening. My complaint is that the management of Bol allowed for 12 year-olds on a friday night to take over 3 full lanes (But only assigned 2 lanes), with no parents in sight to completely ruin the experience for everyone else bowling. I don't know if it was poor parenting or what...but literally all 30 of these 12 year-olds treated the bowling alley like it was their jungle gym, I was in complete shock that the management would allow for this to happen, especially since you are paying $50 an hour to bowl. It was made aware to me that the parents of these children were at the bar the entire time (which is its own issue in my opinion). Bottom line, I don't think I have been to a bowling alley before where children were left COMPLETELY unattended and I don't think Bol should allow this either. It's tough to bowl, much less enjoy yourself, when there is a 12 year running in front of your lane and all over your seating...literally. read more

I have to say it was the worst steak I have ever had! The steak frite was anything but steak frite with a thick layer of fat that I had to cut around with (only by a steak knife) and the blue cheese crumble on top. Gross! Who puts heavy blue cheese on a perfectly good steak? Thank goodness for the fries because otherwise I'd have to get a slice a pizza after paying nearly $100 per person. We went Sunday July 22, 2018 and had an awful experience. We got a nice table outside and it took a waitress 10 minutes to greet us. She then ask in a snooty way "did you check in with the hostess?" Meaning did we just grab this table without telling anyone else. We did so we were a little offended. Bad first impression. Then we ordered four drinks and two apps. Took 20 minutes for the drinks to appear. 45 minutes later still no food. I waved the waitress over and said we sat down at the same time as this table next to us. They got their food and drinks and now are getting their check. We are still waiting on apps. Have not even ordered our meal. She said "are you seeing a movie?" I said no. Waitress said well they are and walked away. Unreal. However it gets better. Finally the table next to us that arrived 30 minutes after us had the app app arrived that we ordered. I waved waitress over again and said what's the story. She said not sure and the kitchen just ran out of that app. We said bring us the check we're going to Red Lion. Bol is a disaster. Don't go unless it's raining and you're out of stuff to do and are cool paying several hundreds of dollars to bowl. The bowling is super cool. But you can't believe how expensive it is, even for Vail. And you still have to put up with this horrible customer service experience. read more

This place should be awesome but bad service got the best of it. We had an hour and half of bowling reserved which at $50 an hour will run up a tab. After getting there they apparently lost our reservation and had to get the manager to find it. Once we finally got our lane, they forgot to start our game, which meant after bowling one ball the lane malfunctioned and had to be worked on for 10 min. Past all that we got an hour of bowling yet they still charged us for the full hour and half! Probably just a bad experience but for paying a premium, you expect top notch service. Well I'd first off say the only reason it got the second star was cause the food was decently good. Me and my fiancé decided to stop and grab food here while visiting vail. The first impression was good by the decor and how it was set up. We are from Kansas and in Kansas when you walk into a restaurant they greet you. I guess not here because all they did was stare us down. After the 30 seconds of awkwardness and the death glare like we were in the wrong neighborhood. I said we need a table for two. They grabbed the menu took us to the table. Our waiter was decently nice but it was hard to even eat when the staff did nothing but stare at us. Every time we looked over we would catch the whole staff just staring and laughing. Through out eating the staff had some friends that showed up to the restaurant and just sat down at the tables and continued to talk and joke around extremely loud. Of course we went during the Colorado classic bike race so we expected it to be busy but we didn't expect the staff to completely leave the restaurant and go and watch it. Leaving the area. At this point it made it even more awkward to eat and finish because now we had a plain view of them just staring at us while eating and turning to each other and laughing. (It got to the point when i left i asked one of the employees at a store next door if we looked funny or something). We had one waitress come back an apologize saying that she was sorry that they were distracted. Which i understand that the race is a big deal but you have a job and you are at work. What made it even more interesting was that two of the staff members were apparently dating for they were all over each other arms draped or holding hands and kissing. Which i don't mind but there's a time and place for this and work is not that place. I'd definitely rate this the worst place I've been to. We spent time in Colorado Springs and telluride before this and never been treated so friendly there and to come here and be treated this way was shocking. Then again maybe it's just vail because not a single person while walking around the area was nice everyone was rude or so called stuck up. read more

We are repeat customers of Bol and go back for the food! We may have lucked-out by avoiding the bad wait staff and only bowled once or twice but we always have a good time when we go. You're not going to get bowling alley food here. I'm not sure about claiming to be a bowling alley but does anyone really expect a 30-lane alley in the Vail? Bowling while dining with kids, sitting on comfortable couches, giant tv screens all around... sounds amazing, but wait.... the most unbelievable horrible customer service ever !! If you have 1 frame left to your game and your time is up... the screen goes off without any warning or concern. Food was so salty, it was inedible. We are locals and have to say that bol is a fun spot for family dinners with ice skating & bowling. Fun lively atmosphere. With that said we keep giving them chances on the food and they have let us down numerous times over the last year. One year ago my husband and I both had the Eaton burger and both ended up with food poisoning. Our son has celiac and we ordered a gf pizza last night and the runners brought a regular non gf pizza. When we asked if it was gf, they said they weren't sure. When they returned, they said it was fired incorrectly and they would get a gf going. All the kids at the table finished their meals, then the adults got their food , still no food for my son. About halfway through adult meal the gf pizza arrived. I don't think the wait staff understands what serving the wrong type of food to someone is its celiac would do. Very disappointed local. read more

My family came here to bowl after Christmas dinner. We had a reservation and were on lane 9 & 10. Paid for an hour, but our lane got clogged up and was out of service for over 20 - 25 mins. They put 7 mins back on and wouldn't add more bc they had a later reservation. The waiters, etc. were nice enough but all and all it was shitty service considering we have no control over the bowling and for jipped on our bowling time. read more

I don't think this place deserves any stars. The manager was completely rude and unfair. We said we were unsure if we were coming but then we called back two minutes later and told them we were coming and they said great and took our shoe sizes. When we got there they said they sold our lane and we could wait 15 more minutes if the other people didn't show up...RUDE. Then we got in a lane to bowl and he came back out and said the people showed up so we had to get off...the people were 40 MINUTES LATE!!! Keep in mind we're exactly on time and he still sold our lane. So we just stayed on but his tone was rude and he definitely didn't try to help. read more

we went as a family last night to Bol. we've been before with a group and had a blast. it was a similar experience, with a couple of flaws. food there is great. drinks are tasty as well and reasonably priced for vail. the servers were not fast, but perfectly nice in the front. we did not have a table reservation and they sat us anyways while we waited for our lane, which was great. while we sat they took our shoe sizes and had them waiting for us when our lane came available. it was when we got over to the bowling area when things began to get a little shaky. first of all the lighter balls all have tiny finger holes (particularly the 8) both our party and the party next to us had trouble finding suitable fits. second, the guys back there are a little unfriendly. we were a pretty large party and each person had a ball that fit them, however, they kept coming and trying to remove more and more balls from our rack in the middle of our games. I understand it gets crowded, but limit the lanes or have parties share. otherwise it can be really distracting or even frustrating. additionally, even though the other half of the lanes were empty they kept putting parties at our neighboring lane. it seemed to me perhaps they were trying to save their clean up time by shoving all the parties onto one side, but it makes for a very tight space... makes sense if it's full, but if it's not, why not allow your customers more wiggle room? I dunno. the drink service was alright. we self served our water a couple of times, though I'm not sure you are supposed to, but...? towards the end it seemed funny to me that the expectation of the waiter was to get tipped off of the cost of the bowling. being a server myself, that seems a little silly. I can understand that those working the Bol desk might get tipped out, but put a tip jar up there... that might make more sense. when your tab is $150, for roughy $80 in drinks, and the rest bowling that really does it's own work, seems I'd rather give $16 than $30, especially when thats what the served product costs. when i go to a more traditional restaurant or get a massage i don't calculate the additional merchandise like shirts or lotion to my tipping... maybe some people can't do percentages or are generous, but truly, in my opinion, your not serving the bowling... we will go back I'm sure many times, and I hope things evolve a bit at some point. might be fun (and profitable) to sell merchandise. bowling shirts, shoes, hell even balls! (since they don't all fit right) tons of tourists in vail are a HUGE fan of schwag. seems funny not to offer any. read more

My fiancé and I went to Vail for the weekend to celebrate our engagement. After looking at many reviews, I booked dinner and bowling at Bol Restaurant. Located right in the middle of Vail Village, it was a short walk from our hotel. Modern decor, friendly staff, delicious food (especially considering half of the place is a bowling alley!). We had the spicy tuna tartare and chicken skewers appetizers, and the NY strip steak and the margherita pizza for mains. All FANTASTIC! Since it is the off season they had great deals on bottles of wine. We scored a bottle of Franciscan merlot (amazing) for $15 and a bottle of Franciscan Equilibrium white blend (beyond amazing) for $20! Needless to say all this gorgeous food and wine prepped us well for the one hour of bowling we had booked. Very much on the pricey side ($50 per hour per lane plus shoe rental...decent for a group, expensive for a couple) although at that point we didn't really care! Overall a wonderful evening that was one of the highlights of our Vail trip. Would recommend to anyone who doesn't mind spending the cash when the food, drinks and experience are worth it! read more

I am a local and I am appalled by the service at Bol. On my day off, I was skiing with friends. We went to apres and then dinner. By the time we were done, it was 9pm and I was still in my ski pant (no ski boots). My friends wanted to go check this place out so we decided to go, although I had heard it was pricey and not worth it. When I arrived at the door, with 4 of my friends who were willing to spend $12 for a drink, I was denied at the door because I was in "ski attire." I asked to speak to a manage who might have been the most unprofessional person I have ever met and and said, "I don't have to give you a reason why you can't wear ski gear in our facility." I will never go back and will gladly drive to the Back Bowl in Eagle. read more

I got roped into eating at this restaurant by family members who wanted to eat outside while the kids played on the "soccer field". That was the nicest part of dinner. I have been here previously and they treated me exceptionally, but now after my recent visit I'm not sure I want to go back. My two friends and I wanted to have a fun night out. Keep in mind we were loyal customers but they could only accommodate us at 2:00 which made us have to ski down early. We had just had a long day of skiing, and we're unsure whether or not we were up to bowl. We gave them a call and asked about the cancelation policy and they said that we would still have to pay the excessive amount of money. We told them if they could fill our spot to call us but if not that we were on our way over. We than called them 2 minutes while we were in the car and said that we could come and we gave them our shoe sizes. We arrived at bōl, excited to play and they said they had filled our spot. We talked to the manager and he said he tried calling us multiple times...but non of us had any missed calls whatsoever. The good thing is that they have new lanes open up every 15 minutes so we decided to wait and see if the other people were a no show. 15 minutes later they gave us their lane and we thought we were finally settled in. Of corse, 20 minutes into our bowling time of 1 hour, the rude manager comes and says that the other guests have arrived and that we have to give them our lane. Keep in mind... we showed up on time and they gave away our lane, and they showed up 35 MINUTES LATE and the manager wants to give them OUR lane! We ended up staying to bowl and the waitresses were great and the food was delicious! Overall I do not thing I will attend bōl ever again. read more
