Made a mid morning tee time online which saved me around 25%. During August it's peak season so golf in Colorado is pricy. We teed off early by half an hour and we didn't have to play with another twosome which was great. The course itself was beautiful. There were many elevation changes, the greens and fairways were in great shape and there were natural steams that ran thru parts of the course. There's a snack bar at the turn that serves a great sausage sammie too. I'm glad we teed off early due to the weather changed in the afternoon and it rained hard on the 17th hole and missed the eightieth hole. The entire staff here was friendly and accomadating so if you're in the area, I would highly recommend playing this course which is a great value for the quality of play received.

I've enjoyed this club in the past, only complaint being the many unleashed dogs. I had a terrible experience recently though. I suspect it has come under new management. My golf cart battery died on the 4th hole. Called the clubhouse multiple times, they would pick up but wouldn't give ETA on getting new cart. After an hour of waiting, I gave up and walked back. When I arrived back at the clubhouse, the older gentleman working said no refund for the round. He gave a rain check- and pro-rated it because I got to play 4 holes! The man said he wasn't aware that a cart had died, and refused to make eye contact, it was strange. Talked to the employees outside, they said they weren't aware of any carts being dead. So despite multiple calls, appears they just ignored me. We all have bad days but when a business screws up this bad I expect my money back without protest. Stay far far away- plenty of other honestly run golf clubs in the Valley!

My husband played this course while we were in Avon area and he was impressed with how good of condition the greens were in. He thought the course overall was nice and great condition, and enjoyed playing in the mountains with the various elevations.

Wow. Just freakin' wow. This is unbelievable. This is one of the cheapest of the 20+ courses currently in the Vail valley, and it's absolutely breathtaking. Peak Season, Peak Tee Time is still only $98 including a mandatory riding cart. You start the round by bombing your tee shot off a massively elevated tee box next to the clubhouse onto an expansive fairway. I can't say it enough, this place is beautiful. There are lakes, rivers, streams, forests, wildlife, views, etc., etc., etc. The great thing is, it's not terribly expensive and they seem to tolerate higher handicap golfers. A few holes are RIGHT next to major roadways. If you are unsure of your game, it would be a REALLY good idea to hit a short iron off the tee or even just walk up and place your shot in the fairway. Unless of course, you're fond of smashing windshields on cars traveling on the freeway at 70 mph. The course winds its way all through the mountainous terrain finishing on a 200-foot elevated tee box on the 18th where I'm proud to say I hit my first 300+ yard drive in my life. (Mind you, between the elevated tee box and the thin air at altitude the same drive in San Francisco would not have made it to the 260-yard mark.) There are great services on the course including a complete snack shack at the 11th tee with a full menu and magical cart girls who somehow cover the entire course every 90 minutes. One bit of advice: STAY IN THE FAIRWAY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!! This course rates a fairly simple 70.6/127 from the tips. HOWEVER, if you hit it even 2 inches off the fairway it becomes a 98.5/Infinity. I swear I lost two dozen balls, but found just as many. Take it easy, back off the bomber shots and keep it in the short stuff. I'm not the greatest of golfers (15.6 index) but I ended up shooting a 112, including 18 penalty strokes for lost balls. If you have a significant other who does not golf, bring them anyway and let them drive the cart. They have a riding-only fare, and this is such a beautiful place, it's an enjoyable outing even if only one of you golfs. BTW, kudos to an incredibly helpful and friendly staff. They don't have that fake "Yes, sir" country club attitude, (which I'm not knocking, by the way) but a genuine interest in how you're doing and whether you're having a good time. The bad news is, I heard a rumor they may close the course and develop it. That would be a crime.

Only snafu for me was the club rental. They have nice new Calloway rental sets. They asked if I wanted senior clubs and I said yes. Unfortunately the senior clubs were some beat up old Titleists so stay away from those. The rangers did keep play moving which I greatly appreciated. Some people spend too much time and psychic energy bonding with their golf balls and slow down play. You will definitely lose a few balls on this course so just expect it, live with it and keep moving. With the thick vegetation and the meandering creek these balls are gone forever so just let them go. II'd play here again anytime!

So since the twilight was only $100, I decided to fork over the cash and enjoy a round on a beautiful course tucked into the mountains. Course was kept up very well. The views were amazing. Lots of elevation changes. I rented clubs as well and they were very nice (Taylormade). Beer cart lady was on the course. She offered snacks, beers, soft drinks, and liquor. I wish I could play golf on courses like this all the time. I typically play up at Cape Royale on Lake Livingston. No comparison. If you get a chance, spend the money and play golf in Colorado during the summer. All the courses I passed on 71 in the many ski resort towns looked very nice.

I'll start by saying that my low review is based on the customer service of the Pro Shop workers…read moreand how they handle patrons. While in Vail a few weeks ago, we called ahead to the course b/c we wanted to purposely play the Norman course (vs the Fazio) and we knew it was every other day, but nothing on the website says what days. We were flying into Denver Monday morning so would prefer a Tuesday tee time b/c of the drive to Vail. We called in mid-July and spoke with a woman (did not get her name) and we indicated that we wanted to play the Norman course. She told us we could only play it on the Monday, Sept 13. We were disappointed b/c we knew if there was a flight delay, we would be sunk. However, to only have that option, we booked a later Monday afternoon tee time. As luck would have it, our flight was delayed - and car rental was awful so we were flying on the road to make our tee time...McDonald's drive thru for lunch. We made our 2:40 tee time. Thinking nothing of confirming anything when we paid, we got in the golf cart and saw the Fazio golf card and I went back into the Pro Shop to confirm. The person behind the desk is why this is a 3 star review. As he folded shirts, he told me that odd number days are Fazio and we were on an odd day. I told him that we had called the pro-shop specifically when we booked our tee time and she told us Monday's were Norman. He looked at me...continued folding shirts...and said "sorry" and turned away. Mind you - there was nobody in the pro shop but him so he wasn't busy. I was livid at his attitude and his lack of care. We got in our golf cart - b/c there was nothing else we could do - and then tried to find where the Fazio course was. Another complaint of the course would be that there are no signs and nobody outside to point to you to the first tee or even to hit balls. There is no starter so you just go when you want. Do not get me wrong - the Fazio course is great and had nice views and is hard - but we heard the Norman course was prettier. Poorly run golf course and definitely not one I would go back to. I would have been okay had the guy in the pro shop at least acknowledged a mistake, but he tried to blame me for booking the tee time thru the hotel. No - we specifically spoke to the Pro Shop b/c we knew the hotel wouldn't know which day the Norman course could be played. His nonchalant attitude was awful and definitely put a damper on my experience.

That would've put us at the golf course at 3 o'clock when we called to explain we were gonna be late. They said they were not hold the golf cart for 15 minutes explained that the course was wide open according to the reservations, we are experience, golfers, and seriously doubt if we take two hours to play that nine holes of golf also offered that I would give them my phone number and we would end around short if needed. We are recently in a very serious car accident and I'm unable to walk the course. My wife even has a handicap placard to show that she's unable to walk that far. I am very disappointed in the lack of consideration, considering the long drive that we were prepared to do and the fact that the reason we were gonna be 15 minutes late was because of a road closure for over an hour. Is this really how you treat your customers I will make sure that everyone I know, including every golf course, golf store, instructor, a travel person I know is aware of how you care about your customers.
