Ashley Rogers did a fabulous job coordinating the event with balloons, table linens, beautiful flowers, music and much more. Owen Larson, PGA Professional, went above and beyond with score cards and a monitor at the party for live scoring and the awards ceremony. Jason was our bartender and he was amazing! And I wish I knew the name of the chef so I could thank him here. Everyone raved about the food as it was truly delicious. Molly helped make custom bag tags for all guests with a Red Sky Ranch logo and my husband's name and birthday on them. A special keepsake for all guests. And of course The Fazio Course at Red Sky Ranch is so beautiful. It is always a treat to play golf there and my husband's friends were "over the moon"! The clubhouse, patio flowers and SummerThyme Restaurant with indoor/outdoor dining viewing to the 18th hole is just magical. This course is magnificent. Carved into an alpine valley and running along Gore Creek, it exemplifies mountain golf at it's best- plenty of stunning vistas and elevated tee shots. Well manicured and in great shape early in the season, it exceeded expectations. I walked on as a single and was paired with a charming couple, one of which was a college golfer (the wife)! They were on their honeymoon which explained to me why a couple was so nice to each other on the course! They both were great to be paired with but the course was the star of the show. I will be back. Great service from the pro shop, to the beer cart to the valet. Top notch.

Only snafu for me was the club rental. They have nice new Calloway rental sets. They asked if I wanted senior clubs and I said yes. Unfortunately the senior clubs were some beat up old Titleists so stay away from those. The rangers did keep play moving which I greatly appreciated. Some people spend too much time and psychic energy bonding with their golf balls and slow down play. You will definitely lose a few balls on this course so just expect it, live with it and keep moving. With the thick vegetation and the meandering creek these balls are gone forever so just let them go. II'd play here again anytime!

Beautiful as the location is on a crisp morning, it's a bit of a dog track in terms of layout and conditioning. So, I was pretty excited on my recent trip to Denver that we had a tee-time up at the River Course. For a first experience of truly high-end Mountain Golf, this was a winner. Boy did we luck out - it was a perfect Fall day. Weather in the high-50's, Aspens were near peak-color, and the sky was crystal clear. Oh yeah - and I was smoking the ball on the range. I have as close to entirely positive things to say about the course as is possible. Stepping up to the first tee, a nice elevated look down over the fairway, it was clear that this is a beautiful location and a well designed and well maintained track. It's more of a resort-style course, so it is accommodating. While you can get into trouble if you stray too far, the fairways are generous and leave some margin for error. Overall, the course is fair - although there were number of holes I'd like to have a second crack at, since I might play differently with local-knowledge. The greens are fairly quick, and they are challenging. The super-star is the beautiful mountain scenery. The front nine is nice. There are some nice holes along the river, and a couple of cool elevated tee-boxes. #9 is a dramatic downhill Par-3 to end. The back-nine is off the hook. There were at least five awesome tee shots, including the fun (but frustrating) #16, and the magnificent #18 Par-5 to finish. The look down over Lake Dillon towards the range to the West is just beautiful. This is a fun place to play - and yes, the ball does fly at this elevation. If you are looking for a place to come and enjoy yourself, without driving yourself nuts, this is a good course. If you are visiting, this is easy to access, and it's a nice drive up from Denver. I believe that we also took advantage of a deal for Epic Pass (Vail Resorts - Ski Pass) Holders. $69 with a cart. Not bad for a Saturday afternoon.

If you're looking for wildlife and an overpriced zoo, you've found it.

Don't be fooled, this is no easy, dull, boring "Links" course, it's a challenge and that's part of the beauty and character of the course. Before or after your round, try the food and grab a beer at their Whiskey Hill Golf Grill while taking in sporting events on a half dozen HDTV's. It's really good. Breakfast burritos and Bloody Mary's to go in the morning are extra bonuses for us on the run.

Of course, the scenery is not the only thing Lakota Canyon offers. The layout is very interesting and challenging. When I played, greens were super super difficult. It is very hard to find the flat surface on the green and if you miss your putt by too much, be prepared to add 3+ more strokes on your scorecard. Having said that, the difficult green does not make you frustrated at all. It is more along the line of amazing, creative, and, best of all, fun. I especially love that the course is very fair for ladies. I have played several courses in CO and many offer great views and great golf for men but not for ladies. Often, ladies' tee boxes offer no view nor challenges; just an after-thought... At Lakota Canyon, the view is not only great from the back tees, but from ladies' tees as well. The challenges you face in the game are similar between tee boxes as well. If you are a golfer and if you ever visit CO, please make effort to play this course.
