I ordered via Grubhub the macaroni and cheese MEAL and added chicken strips for $23. What I got was a side of macaroni and cheese and 1 and a half chicken strips. If this portion is their real meal size.....I have no words. How can you charge $23 for this? read more

Came for a meeting with the Lions Club Int group which meets the 2nd Monday of each month. Food slow to come out, was told for the extra 2.49 we would receive 2 extra tenders only for one, should have received fries, but received onion rings. Was given one set of SILVER ware for hubby and I to share, He used the fork to eat with, I used the knife. Tenders were requested to be tossed in Frank's hot wing sauce but was tossed in BBQ sauce instead. read more

Nice restaurant with a great menu. I was favorably impresses, Except for the waffle that I ordered! It wasn't a light, flaky treat, it had a heavy, doughy, muffinlike mouth feel. I suspect that they use the same batter that they use to make pancakes. read more

While this place has been here for a while and I passed regularly for a few years, I never really paid it much attention. Then I was traveling down in Tucson for a bowling tournament, and we opted to try it out and I was a fan. So, I had been wanting to try this location and I was not disappointed. I came in for a late lunch/early dinner. There were only a few diners when I stopped in. This is a medium-large sized restaurant. I was immediately greeted and seated. The server, Anna/Ana was quick to approach me and take my drink order and followed up to take my meal order. I stuck with the taco salad with ground beef. The service was quick, the meat was well seasoned and an ample amount of food overall. I tried their sauces and I really like the papa burn (habanero). I will definitely be back regularly now to try other foods. My server was great, professional and friendly. read more

I order catering for 50 of my employees here and my experience with black bear diner Gilbert and the manager Jeff has been SUPERB until my order today. The shift leader, Michelle (she should also refrain from lying and saying she's a manager) should NOT be in any customer facing role - she lacks empathy, customer service and interpersonal skills. She has made this a terrible experience. As someone who manages people, she should set a better example to the rest of the staff. Please send her to some leadership and customer courses before letting her interact with any other customer. read more

Shelly was just amazing. She handled our large party very well. Got us our drinks and food fairly promptly. Although I try to avoid asking for multiple checks, she offered us the option which made the payment process so much easier for all of us. She was the sweetest. She was also assisting other tables and cleaning dirty tables. So efficient and such great work ethic. Food is yummy as always. read more

The food is perfect diner fare. Including meatloaf! Don't get the ri s they are not cooked long enough and are touch but had a nice flavor. Baked potato and salad were great. Enjoy read more

Ordered 2 Reubens, waitress came back and they only had enough meat for 1. I let my mother have it. I ordered a classic burger which tasted like freezer burnt cardboard, both our fries tasted burnt and waitress said it could be that the oil is old and needs to be changed, was offered new fries but declind. While she did give a $6 discount, I left there disgusted, I've never not had a good meal and it was horrible. How do you mess up a burger? They really shouldn't be using frozen pressed burgers, serve a fresh patty and for godsakes, change your oil, it ruined our meal. Very disappointed and nowadays eating out is a huge luxury for some people, if your going to be charginging more, please upgrade a little. I laughed when I payed and the waitress said, "see you next time", not if I can help it! It will be a long time before I come back, that was my mother's 1st time and she will not go back willingly. read more

The coolest diner! The bear theme is something unique in AZ, and they had so many items and decor to admire. It was like being in a comfy log cabin, so I love the atmosphere. They have specials for the holidays as well with all the yummy favorites. Huge portions! Needed a bear bag to bring home the left overs...Biscuits n gravy baby! read more

Bring an extra stomach with you. Portions are monster. Everything was super good except the bear claws. Someone needs to teach the pastry chef how to make them. These just look like baseball mitts. I almonds. No vanilla. No glaze. read more

Ordered delivery. Buyer Be Aware! Including a pathetic excuse for a fruit bowl. Paid 6.39 for a 'fruit bowl' . 2 grapes, 8 slivers honeydew, 10 pieces cantaloupe. That was to be my breakfast (someone else got the eggs benedict), with yogurt. Door Dash refunded that immediately. So no worries, but what is Black Bear thinking if that serves for an acceptable portion /price? read more

waiters took 15 minutes to come to our table and start our order. the food has changed it is way below average. we used to come here offen. The patty melt my wife had was small and lacked any flavor not even salt and pepper, i m have had hospital food that was better. the food arrived luke warm. i would give blackbear diner a negative rating if I could. the place has gone way down hill. don't waste your money here!!! read more

Amazing atmosphere! Super clean and great service! Portions are too big for me but I'll definitely be back.

I wanted comfort food and got Very Tender pot roast. I could cut it with a fork and I didn't feel the need to pick my teeth afterwards!! It could have been more flavorful and I don't like Bears gravies, for what ever reason they just don't please my taste buds. Next time I get this, I'll try the au jus .. As usual, we were made to feel welcome and valued, which is an important reason for coming back! read more

I am so disappointed in this Black Bear after a very mediocre experience tonight. The service was unfriendly and extremely sloooooow. The lady seemed overworked as it took 10 minutes her to come over and take our drink order. Then she took the order and took excessively long to get the drinks back to us. We were ready to order but she went away again and said she'd be back to take orders. Another five or 10 minutes pass... At this point we have been here in almost a half an hour already. The she forgot to put in one of the items in the order so we had to wait even longer for that item to come after everyone else was still eating. This was our first time coming to this blackbear and I don't think we will ever be back. The sad thing is the food is pretty good once it gets out but the service was very poor today. There was also food crumbs on the floor at our table as we sat down and the ceiling fan kept tapping rather loudly as one of the strings bounced off the lightbulb. Another weird thing was they put the gravy on the top of the top half of the biscuit, which is not normal(see picture) Maybe that's the way they roll but we are used to the gravy sitting on the soft part of the biscuit. I'm sure the wait staff is overworked and underpaid but I felt like the service was lacking here for that reason will probably never be back read more

The food was to die for! I got the sweet cream waffles. ( They were the best waffles I have ever had in my life) I also got a mocha coffee that was delicious. The service was amazing they were so fast and kind. The whole theme is bear-like in the title. I also love the cozy cabin theme. I loved it. I would recommend it. And I will be returning soon. read more

I've always loved black bear diner for their pancakes, but today they had just the best service. I've recently been diagnosed with a soy allergy, after frequently having stomach aches daily... today I asked if I could just know if they add oil to the pancake mix. The manager came out, asked about my allergy, and made sure to make everything separate, said the cooks would clean off the cook surface just in case. Thank you for accommodating instead of telling me to find something else to eat that could potentially have soybean oil. I really appreciate it!!! read more

ordered Grizz breakfast and kids chocolate chip pancakes and kids eggs, sausage and bacon. All were cold, pancakes were all hard on the outer edges. Eggs for Grizz were filled with egg shell bits, bacon was pink and rubbery raw, country potatoes were hard and undercooked. Worst meal from this once fine restaurant. read more

Just ordered a pick up to go order and really horrible experience. On the weekends I like to get my parents breakfast and lunch, so this weekend I decided to try Black Bear Diner. First off, I get it's Saturday morning and probably the busiest time of the week but the gal that was doing take out orders was very unhappy. She handed me the bag and coffee without even smiling or a thank you. She even ran off so fast that I didn't even get to tell her that my father's cheesecake was missing. The younger guy was also semi helpful looking for my order too and went into the back a few times, at least he greeted me. Thank you to the other woman at the register (she had a choker necklace on). She was super helpful and even asked my name to make sure the orders that came out weren't mine, so I wouldnt just sit there....she even did this while cashing out other diners. She even helped me get the cheesecake and strawberry topping. I gave these stars to her, she needs a raise and an employee of the month award! Lastly, when opening the orders at my parents house my mother found a short/blonde hair in her scrambled eggs! Ugh...come on guys. Perhaps have the cashier gal run the entire joint and even the kitchen, she knows what's up! read more

So the food wasn't completely horrible but.... I said I have a dairy allergy before ordering. Basically no dairyfree dressing for my salad and they put sour cream container on my plate touching my ribs after I said no sour cream. Plus I said no bbq sauce but they still drowned my ribs in it. The ribs were ok but not tender enough. My husband, son and mother in law were freezing because of the air conditioning but luckily they did turn it down a little. read more

We arrived at the Gilbert, AZ Black Bear Diner today around 9:10 am. Had to wait a few minutes for Hostess to come and take us to a table, and gave us menus. After that we waited for over 15 minutes or more for the waitress " Amafis" to show up and take our order. Then another 15 mins or more she finally came back with our Hot Tea. After another 20-30 mins it seemed she brought food to another table across from us that ordered a lot more food then we did. And she brought my partner his CornBeef Hash. Then stated she would be back with my food, 5 mins later or more, another waitress brought my food. My Toast was cold, Potatoes were luck warm some of then, rest was cold and my supposedly Ham, Mushroom, Cheese Omelet was cold on edges and luke warm in the middle. But it looked like they folded over the eggs, put ham dices and one mushroom covered with cheese on top. Yes, she did comp my food, but not once came back to refill our water pots, ask if everything was fine. She came back and seen that I put my napkin over my food and pushed it away and then asked. She offered to make it again, But why would I do that and wait who knows how long and if it would of been hot. Will never go back there again, Terrible service and low quality of food. read more

It was my first time being here. I love breakfast for dinner and my bf couldn't believe I never eaten here. The portions are huge. I would definitely go back. read more

The Biggest Biscuits I've Ever Seen!!! I had never been here before and came for a breakfast work meeting. I got the country fried steak and it came with the biggest biscuits I've ever seen! Since it was a work thing I didn't take pictures show show the massive size, but they were about the size of a mans fists. The chicken was good, the service was friendly and all worked out great. We have tried this place twice now. I will say the staff was nice. The food might be good if every plate served was not cold. We were a party of 6 and everyone at the table said the same thing. First time eating at this location. When you walk in they have a bunch of cute black bear stuffed animals for sale. The first thing you notice though if you're really hungry are the perfect looking pies on display. We ordered the chili cheeseburger. The burger was cooked medium which is what I ordered. It was delicious and the fries were cooked perfectly. It was a little too salty for my taste but better than no salt at all. Cecilie was our waitress and she was very attentive as well as sweet. If you want a good dining experience I suggest coming here. read more

I love the feel inside, the service is always excellent. My favorite are the pancakes and their homemade sage mild sausage Pattys.

I went to that establishment with my parents, aunt and uncle Saturday the food was great. My issue is that we split the check when I got home I realized that both credit cards were changed the total amount of the whole check. So we double paid the tip. I had called that same night and spoke to Alexis she said she couldn't revise my check and that she would let her manager know. To this day I haven't heard anything back... I'm really upset because the cashier didn't tell me that the tips were doubled. read more
