The service was fine but a little slow. Saddest avocado toast ever. 2 eggs had me thinking 2 pieces of toast. Nope! Got 2 eggs undercooked served on a very thin very small piece of toast , like the size of half a sandwich piece. Supposed to come with goat cheese and i saw 2 little bits. It is such a treat to be able to enjoy a brunch on a Tuesday afternoon. I love brunch food anytime. This is a cute little place on Pearl with a patio. We had a very spicy Bloody Mary and their itsaspritza which is an amped up aperol spritz. So yummy. I had the spinach Benedict with the most satisfying green salad. The salad dressing is perfect balance of vinegar and sweet. My husband had the chicken and waffles and he loved them also. I snuck a bite of waffle and dunked it in syrup. All of the pancakes and waffles are gluten free which really bummed me out. I expected them to have options that were GF but not all of the pancakes and waffles! Came here with extended family, and it didn't disappoint. We made it in for the end of happy hour, so grabbed the "Bottle and Brussels" (fried/dressed Brussels sprouts and bottle of wine) for the table. The entree menu was probably one of the most stressful events I encountered all day - I legitimately could not decide what to get, so made our server choose for me - I ended up getting the duck. Other selections at the table included the bison meatloaf, half chicken plate, and chicken sandwich. None of them disappointed. The house wine went well with all our selections. A few of us also ordered an old fashioned, and they were poured well. Dessert - the table had one of each of the bread pudding, apple crisp, and flourless chocolate cake, and they were all very tasty. While not inexpensive, seemed overall reasonably priced for quality. Our server (I regret I didn't catch his name), was superb. Attentive but not overbearing, knew the menu well, and got everything right without taking notes (always a plus in my book). I ordered the chicken sandwich to go and when I opened it up At home I was baffled. It was burnt to a crisp. Both the bread and chicken. Tomato was green and still had the top on it. I called and spoke to the manager who was kind and refunded my money. If they're willing to serve something this bad though I'm not interested in going back. Too bad, place looks great. Came in on Saturday a little before 1030. Party of 4. Called ahead for seating. Ended up waiting 30 minutes and watching 3 couples, that arrived after us, get seated before us. Apparently they were waiting for a table to clear out. Table finally cleared out and we were seated. Ordered a passion fruit mimosa. It was okay. Mostly tastes of champagne. Crab cake Benny was good, not great. Generous serving of hash browns but they weren't very seasoned. Smothered them in hot sauce. Friend ordered the stuffed pepper. It wasn't actually stuffed. Looked more like they cut the pepper in half and just put the toppings on top of that. She wasn't a fan. Waitress was a little too soft spoken for the loud atmosphere. Typical New American Denver restaurant: Good presentation. Interesting sounding food. Interesting menu. Very mediocre flavors + added benefit of explosive diarrhea. We went here for dinner. It's a beautiful place and the service was nice. I liked the arrangement and decor + outside seating. We got three things: Crab cakes: Overpriced. Small portion. Mediocre flavor. We think this was the source of our volcanic eruptions (diarrhea) the next day. Meatloaf: Nice portion but was dry, old and lacking in interesting flavors. The mashed potatoes were good, nothing special. The brussel sprouts were yummy and fried well. Chicken and waffle: Mediocre. The fried chicken's breading is okay. Tasted a little burnt. The waffle was lacking enough maple syrup, but the quality was solid. Would have been a lot more enjoyable with more syrup. read more

There used to be a place called Gaia's on Old Pearl Street near Washington Park. If I recall Black Pearl is also gone. So, Yardbird's took over the former Gaia's and changed it to a diner instead of a bistro. I wanted to try it because I love home style cooking and not a trendy place. They serve things like fried chicken, different pot pies and meatloaf. I like that kind of food. Once again, I feel like the Yelp bitch - but my experience was just plain average. My food was cold - but they reheated it for me. Also, they need someone to clean up after the previous guest. You will see five star ratings on here. Yardbird's is good - but I've had better. We came here for Mothers Day brunch last week. My reservation was unable to be found when I arrived but fortunately they found a table for 8 and we sat outside. I wanted this place to wow me but it was borderline underwhelming and the service was mediocre. I ordered the crab cake Benedict but 15 minutes after ordering I was told they were out of crab cakes. Wahwah. So I went for the creamed spinach benny instead. It was one of the worst tasting items I've ever ordered at a restaurant because the creamed spinach was a puréed green sauce that tasted nondescript and somewhat bitter. I was beyond starving so I ate most of it. My husband got the burger and he said was tasty. Sis in law got the grilled cheese but it also had the weird spinach purée on it. She wasn't sure how you eat a grilled cheese doused in green sauce? Fork? My brother got the beet salad and it looked pretty good. My mom got the Cubano and it also looked decent. This could be a really good spot with more refinement and a more sober wait staff. I say that because our waiter seemed...well...out of it for 1:30 in the afternoon. What I feel this restaurant is missing is love and passion in their food. If they can work on that I'll definitely come back! read more

Bird has a really cool atmosphere and space! It's modern but feels comfortable and is a great place for groups with both indoor and patio seating. The service was a bit lacking on my visit today. The coffee cups are small and it took forever to get refills. I had the Fried Chicken Benedict and the flavors were great but it was a bit dry and the poached eggs overdone. We came here Sunday because the location was near our church and we were STARVING!!! It was an hour wait but we were lucky enough to snag 2 seats at the bar... because I would never have waited that long for brunch. I ordered the Eggs Benedict with pesto sauce on top and a side of french fries because it came with a salad. First of all the food was not good, the pesto tasted like eating weeds. Way too leafy and dry. Second, the fries never came. If the waitress would have come back, I would have asked for them but she never came back until it was time for the check. We had an amazing experience for mother's day at Bird! My wife and I took our 7 week old to celebrate her first mother's day and they were fantastic at accommodating our stroller and making sure we had a comfortable spot on a very busy Sunday. I had a customized cocktail based on the bartenders recommendations and my wife had the espresso martini, which was one of the best she's ever had. Bird is a beautiful little cozy brunch spot on South Pearl. The menu items are all on point, especially the crab cake benny. The chimichurri and tomato onion jam that comes with the polenta fries are the best I've ever had! The fries themselves are large in size but not as fluffy and delicate as other polenta fries I've had, and also cost almost as much as some entrees. The sauces make up for it though, and I would still order them again! The service at Bird is impeccable and the prices are reasonable. Definitely make a stop! read more

Fried chicken was dry, collard greens overcooked, and whatever the "mashed potatoes" were trying to be left a lot to be desired. Entrees were very reasonably priced, but I wouldn't come back here. Some of the wait staff was friendly while others weren't and had a bit of an attitude when I asked what beers they had on draft. The food was...ok. Stopped in to get some brunch and totally glad we did! The space is on the smaller side so I'm sure on the weekends they get super busy. Being that it was mid week, we were seated right away. They serve breakfast all day long which is nice! My husband got their steak and eggs. This meal came with au gratin potatoes and choice of toast. The steak had a chimichuri sauce that was delicious! I ordered their huevos rancheros which came with eggs prepared to your liking and black beans with a red chili sauce. This was sooooo good! The spices and flavors were on point! Bird is easily one of my favorite go to places for a great selection of craft cocktails, wines and HOT CHICKEN! Being what I would call a "usual" I hadn't been in about two weeks, so I decided to stop by and order my usual: Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich with Sweet Potato fries (add the sage gravy on the side if you really want a special treat). Tonight was probably the best hot chicken I've ever had, as we'll as the service was phenomenal. Joshua, the bartender has started hand crafting these amazing smoked cocktails with aspen, oak, and other various woods that wowed the rest of the diners at the bar. Check out his "Smoked Manhattan" and "Old Aspened" for a memorable take on a classic! 10/10 will definitely not let two weeks slide by without all this goodness! read more

What a wonderful happy hour/dinner experience we had at Bird recently!! We stopped in around 4:00 pm on a Sunday and were advised happy hour continues until close on Sunday evenings.....a pleasant surprise! We ordered the pretzel bites w beer cheese sauce (delish!). As we were enjoying our refreshing drinks, our darling server, Mary, brought a plate of the trio burger slider appetizer and told us it was prepared in error and comp'd it...how nice! The 3 different burger flavors were fantastic!! The happy hour margaritas I ordered were very tasty with 100% agave tequila and just the right mixture!! Friendly staff, happy customers and delicious options on the menu all pointed the way to a very enjoyable lunch experience at this delightful getaway! Their black bean burger is made in house and was an excellent choice for my preference for vegan food. They can serve up just about any of your favorite types of coffee here and my iced coffee with plant-based milk was the perfect after lunch beverage. We thoroughly enjoyed eating outside and noticed that next time we go, there are three additional options indoors: the bar area, the main level dining room and an inviting seating area up in a loft. It's like having the option of four different dining environments at the same restaurant...We will definitely be back to this gem! read more

They even cater towards Vegan patrons with their Vegan impossible burger with cashew cheese! Bird has one of the best patios around during the summer months and the staff couldn't be friendlier. Could someone tell the cook that guests can hear every single F-bomb being thrown around in the kitchen? I love a good cuss word more than most, but when trying to enjoy a nice relaxing breakfast, it kind of kills the mood. "Holy f***ing sh**!" I want so badly to like this place. But for some reason the food always falls a bit short. The French press coffee needs an overhaul. Not sure if the coffee itself is bad or if the staff hasn't been properly trained on how to make it, but it always tastes kind of gross and grainy.
