Took the wife out to celebrate her birthday at our favorite Italian restaurant - Bellissima. As always, the food was exceptional. I was pleased to see that they were doing a booming business. Tried Bellissima for lunch. The $15 lunch spicy chicken penne was the best pasta dish I have had for under $25 ever. My wife had the chicken marsala and said it was near the best she had ever had as well. The portions were large and the grilled chicken breast in the marsala was huge. The pasta is made fresh each morning and it tasted great. All ingredients were high quality. Another table had ordered the lamb shank and it was a very big shank and looked like it was delicious as well. We both highly recommend Bellissima for the atmosphere and friendly staff. The resturant was exceptionally clean. The manager/owner came to our table to ask if there was anything more we needed and how we liked the food. read more

We have been here several times and it's consistently amazing. The food is some of the best Italian food we've found in the Austin area. You can tell that the staff puts quality and care into their dishes; everything we have tried here has been outstanding. The servers are polite and attentive, and they make great recommendations if you're not sure what to order off of the diverse menu - everything sounds delicious and it can be hard to narrow down the options. After reading the previous reviews my family decided to celebrate my wife's birthday on a Sunday afternoon. Made reservations for a 1:00 pm lunch for six. Surprised when we arrived to see how slow it was for that time of day. Only two tables were being used. We all ordered a different entree and found that each entree had its own unique taste blend. Food was good but not at the 5 star level that some of the other reviews had posted. Found that the food came out lukewarm warm , pasta was just a little to al dente for my taste and the veal piccata which was my entree was completely over breaded during the process and all I could taste of the sauce was flour. Veal although was tender and portions were ample. Was also surprised that considering how slow it was that not one of either management/ownership stopped to say hello or check on our food or us. We will re-visit this restaurant another time and give it a try. read more

While in Austin, we decided to try Bellissima, and we were so happy that we did. It's a cute space, and we were so happy that the five of us decided upon having an early dinner, because for a Wednesday evening, they fill each table fairly quickly. I think that after 6:00 pm it's probably best to have a reservation. We started with the Calamari, which was excellent. For the five of us, we had two orders. The rolls and seasoned olive oil can be seriously dangerous! Each of us ordered a different entree, with my husband ordering Lasagna, I ordered the Veal Piccata, and the other entrees consisted of the Spaghetti Bolognese, Gnocchi w/Chicken, and the limited time special of Branzino. Everything came out hot and in a timely manner. The food was delicious, and the service was wonderful. We will be returning in the near future. read more

Paired with the friendly ambiance, we had a Caesar salad, perfectly dressed, creamy, and not overly fishy, which is absolutely perfect for me. 2 glasses of cold, crisp J.Lohr Chardonnay was paired with our shrimp picante pasta and chicken parmesan over fettuccine. Both entrees came out quick, fast, hot, and utterly amazing. The pasta, shrimp and chicken were perfectly cooked (chef's kiss!) This restaurant opened in a building space nearby us that has a track record of businesses closing, but I don't see that problem happening here. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the portion sizes were great! The wait staff was great too and the interior of the restaurant is way better than the other businesses that have taken space before. The only thing to mention is that you do have to pay 25 cents for bread refills (this is the only restaurant I've ever gone to that does that), and that the menu is quite pricy, but everything is nowadays so take it what you will. Delish! This place just opened up not too far from my apartment complex, so my husband and I walked over for a little date night. Upon walking in, I was surprised how busy it was! And they also had live music that night. What a treat. We were seated immediately. Waiter had good customer service, but not overly friendly. The appetizers are a bit hefty in price, some of them equally the same price as an entree. So we skipped that. Their bread is delish, and you get two rolls for free but after that it's 25 cents each for any extras. I got the eggplant parm and my husband got the Burrata fettuccini. Both our plates were delicious! I judge an Italian place on how well their eggplant parm is (and if the eggplant is thoroughly cooked! Bc I've gotten crunchy eggplant before at other places....) and they pass the test. I actually think I would have preferred my dish a little saltier, but otherwise, everything was divine. Lastly, my husband and I split a slice of their signature bellissima cream cake. The cake slice is huge, and I believe there was some lemon in there. $10 for one slice is a bit hefty, but we enjoyed ourselves none the less. My reason for one star off is paying extra for bread (which I've never encounter anywhere else), & the fact our waiter never refilled our water except for when we specifically asked him to. With the table being so small it made the very crowded and just not comfortable. Was excited to try this place out for a birthday dinner. Food was good, not great. Carbonara was a bit dry but the chicken parm was a bit better. Friendly staff, but again the service felt a bit rushed. The service was excellent, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. As for the food, it was hit or miss for me. My mom ordered a stuffed chicken dish, which was absolutely incredible. The pizza also had great flavor, but the crust was a bit underdone. I ordered the ribeye, and I have to say, it was very disappointing. I'm not a picky eater by any means, but the steak was blue inside, not seasoned, and grey on the outside. I hate to say it, but this was honestly one of the most disappointing meals I've had! I walked in for lunch, the place had a decent lunch crowd, not slow but not super busy either. I stood there looking at the little menu board with their happy hour specials. The one wait staff looked at me and I asked do I sit anywhere or do you have a table for 1? He asked me to follow which I did, he sat me away from people and towards back. I am ok with that, however there was no communication between the one who sat me and the actual wait person of that table, so I sat and sat and sat while different wait staff including the gentleman who sat me. Finally 10 minutes of sitting and not acknowledged I was finally acknowledged by a gentleman who asked of if I have been served, he quickly apologized for the delay. He was nice and helpful and inquired of it was my first time, which was and he had some great recommendations. I ordered the beef tortellini and a Cesar salad, let me say if you leave hungry then it is your own fault. The Cesar salad was enough for 2 people, the dressing was fresh and every piece had been covered and the beef tortellini was hot, fresh and delicious. It is definitely a place for a little longer lunch since everything is made so fresh, The restaurant has a nice soft feel, to dark colors, soft lighting and a full bar. The drink menu looks outstanding, my next visit I will have to try one! I would say if lunch portions were smaller it would be a wonderful lunch place, but the feel is definitely for dinner with friends, family or date night. I can say I have a to go container for my next meal! If I could change anything it would be the staff awareness to individuals that are seated even if they are not seated on their area. Mussels were really overcooked, calimari was like a rubber tire, the shrimp and scallops were good, the sauce was good (I added red pepper flakes) and the pasta was a good home made pasta cooked correctly. We arrived at an off peak time (We always do) on Sunday and were immediately greeted and seated. The ambiance is pleasant and whistle clean. Our server, Charlie quickly arrived and offered us help with the drink menu. We each ordered a cocktail and were pleased with our choices. Charlie was also our guide through the very extensive menu. We finally made our decisions and sat back to enjoy our drinks. If you ever read any of my reviews, you would know that I like to see a presence of management and there was two on the floor. Places don't run on auto pilot successfully but this operation was running smoothly under the watchful eyes of the managers. Our salads and dinners arrived in that order. We had both chosen dinners that were based on chicken and we were both pleased with the presentation , taste and quality. They don't skimp on anything here we easily could have cut our meals in half and enjoyed the rest the next day. Our drinks lasted us through dinner as well. Went to Bellissima last night. Husband ordered 4 cheese ravioli. They came out with bread and oil/balsamic vinegar, he does not like that, so he asked for real butter. They brought it. When he got his dinner he got 5 raviolis for $19.50!!! Not a plate big enough for a grown man!!! When the bill came we found a charge of $.50 for European butter. The server never said there would be an extra charge when this was requested. We complained but they did not take it off the bill. This is one place we will not return to. read more

I have eaten here twice and been very happy both times. I'm from the northeast so I'm very picky about my Italian food so you can trust me when I tell you they know what they're doing here. I've tried the eggplant parm, chicken parm, and carbonara. Pasta is cooked to perfection. Pasta sauce is a good consistency, sticks well to the pasta, and tastes delicious. My dad tried the burrata pasta, mom tried the salmon salad and both said it was great. The fresh bread they give was also fantastic and warm and soft.
