Another great find! Found this place through TikTok and I was not disappointed. I didn't catch our servers name but both of the ladies who assisted were amazing attentive and quick. We were a party of six and we ordered a lot of food and it was so delicious. The restaurant was very accessible and I was able to fit nicely under the table even with my electric wheelchair.
Don't be afraid of the line. It goes fast. Overall, it's good but not great. Uneven service. Clean, modern venue. Let's talk about food. We ordered cucumber salad, hot and sour soup, beef green onion dumplings, chicken soup dumplings, and pork shumai. Way too much food for 2 but we wanted to try different stuff. Beware everything is served very hot. Soup: lots of stuff in it but not hot or sour. Cucumber salad: good flavor, cut too thick, not smashed sufficiently. Beef and green onion dumplings: 5 star. Delicious. Best thing we had. Pork shumai: bland but ok dipped in sauce. 4/5 Chicken soup dumplings: very easy to break and lose all the soup. Overcooked wrapping. Tasty but bland. 4/5.
This is a great place for dumplings and chow mein. Price is great too! Two orders of dumplings and shrimp chow mein was $45. There were so many great options and the service was wonderful. The food came out hot and fast. We can't wait to go back!
Ordered takeout and it was done pretty quick, the employees were nice as well. Ordered the crab meat soup dumplings, shrimp fried rice, and salt & pepper squid. The portions were huge, enough to feed two people for 1.5-2 meals. The food was really good as well, I really enjoyed the fried rice and the squid. I would definitely go here again and try some more things.
I want to keep this place a secret. Finally some bomb ass authentic Chinese food down south! Wait staff is super attentive and kind and always ready to give recommendations. They do get packed on the weekends so put your name down! You can watch the chefs prep the food in the corner window. Dishes come out as they are made so be patient! Soup dumplings are perfect. I've had almost everything on the menu and my faves are the Black Pepper Beef Udon, MApo Tofu. And yes, yes, yes, a huge ass container of chili oil on each table so they don't skimp on ensuring you got flava flaves on standby. Definitely a go to spot for a lil Dim sum cravings and Chinese dishes packed with flavor.
Omgeeeeee best Chinese South Austin! We ordered carry out and the process was simple and fast. I drove about ten minutes there and found the restaurant to be hidden away in a corner in parking lot. There were people dining inside but also many pickups. The staff was nice and the food was hot and fresh! Best chicken fried rice I've had in Austin! Bar none! The cheese wontons were yummy and the spicy chicken was delicious! I probably should have ordered medium because the mild spice level was subtle for me. They did include chili sauce though which was much appreciated. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend!
I'd give this a 4/5 stars First note for parents with littles, there aren't any changing tables in the bathrooms, so something to keep in mind before coming in with them. As a new mom this kind of thing is important to me. The restaurant is family friendly, I just wished they had that. It certainly helps sometimes. Besides that the food was great, we went during an after lunch rush so it wasn't busy and there were many tables open. We were given some great recommendations by friends and the staff and everything tasted great. No complaints there! 5/5 for the food honestly. I really enjoyed that you could see them making fresh dumplings through the glass window. The staff was great too. Friendly and like I said gave great recommendations. Filled our waters and sort of checked in on us politely. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice. It's small but not too small. It's tucked in the corner of the strip mall and parking was easy to find.
NOTE: I think my expectations are a bit higher just because I'm from Houston (where there's more Chinese food) and Taiwanese. Is this like Din Tai Fung? No but it's a pretty good place for soup dumplings/Chinese food. The restaurant is smaller than I thought but luckily did not have to wait long for a table. Seems pretty popular based on all the take out orders I saw and people dining. They look like they have the service down just from seeing how all the orders were being handled. We also didn't have to wait long for the food. Regarding the food: we tried things from the fried rice to appetizers to main dishes. The soup dumplings were a good size and the filling was good, just wish there was more soup. My favorite was actually the chili wontons; I would come back just for that. We got the braised beef noodle soup and I expected it to come in chunks of beef, not slices. Also got some specials Including the lamb which definitely has a kick of spice. Overall large portions and good food but nothing really stood out. Still a good addition to the Austin area though.
Soup dumplings are yummy. I appreciate that they are hand made. Dumpling skin is thick enough to hold the filling and not fall apart. There's a little window in the kitchen you can see them make the dumplings from scratch. We got the mild mapo tofu without realizing. Will try the spicy one next time. Wonton soup is simple yet delicious. Comes with 10 wontons. Portions are large family style so you'll def have leftovers. Service is fast, attentive, and friendly. Came in a Sunday late lunch and it was very busy. Waited about 20 mins.
This is my first time going to be dumpling, my friend took me as a suggestion because he really liked it. As soon as we arrived it was super busy but they were able to seat us immediately. We got a handful of items to try out between the pork soup dumplings , chicken and corn pot stickers, cucumber salad, and kung pao chicken. All the food was hot and fresh made to order for sure! Servers were very attentive to making recommendations on how to sauce items and fast with refills. The Ambiance of the restaurant was very bright and high energy. Would go again! No true complaints
Service was quick, friendly and attentive. Could not have asked for more. Every food item we ordered was delicious. Soup dumplings were well prepared and just the right temperature (didn't burn ourselves eating them). My son ate most of the bbq pork buns. I didn't get to try them but he loved them. The beef roll was my favorite item. Wonderful flavor and the green onion was a great balance to the heaviness of the beef and sweetness of the sauce. So thankful to have this restaurant in South Austin.
I'm always a sucker for trying out a new Asian spot in town, and I typically judge first impressions by trying their pork soup dumplings and beef noodle soup. I appreciated the fact that the soup dumplings were handmade, and there's even a transparent window at a station in the kitchen where you see the staff make the dumplings live! The dumpling skin was thin (just how I like it) but still sturdy to hold the meat and soup. Although the flavor of the meat was excellent, I did wish for a bit more soup/juic in the dumplings. As for the Braised Beef and Tendon Soup, I think it did its job but the flavor profile did not exceed my expectations. They did provide a generous amount of protein but I didn't like the noodles they used for this dish. It was more like stringy ramen noodles, and I was expecting for this dish to have more authentic hand-pulled or knife-peeled noodles. My friend and I also shared a side order of their Cucumber Salad, which I really liked! It was crunchy yet soft and there is definitely a spice kick in their sauce (but the spice doesn't linger). I would get this specific dish again! Overall, it was a good first-time experience but I would still rank Julie's Noodles as my top contender for beef noodle soup and Dumpling World for my soup dumpling cravings!
Bee Dumpling aka One Bite Dumpling is an adaptive Chinese restaurant. In an environment where fresh pea shoots aren't readily available, they sub the dish with spinach instead. Soup dumplings and limited dim sum can also be found on the menu. There may not be someone making the dim sum in house but the food was, overall, quite good. Dumplings maybe a little too thick skinned and the veggie one was filled with vermicelli, but it had good flavor. No frills interior, enough versatile seating for bigger groups. It was full when we went. This part of Austin is lacking authentic Chinese restaurants so Bee Dumpling is a happy, repeat visit find.
I'm so glad we caught this little hole-in-the-wall. This quaint little restaurant may seem timid as it is tucked away in the corner of the plaza, but after eating here... this place is anything but shy. The food speaks for itself - authentic and flavorful. The chicken was crispy and beautifully spicy, the bok choy was super umami and cooked to perfection, and the dumplings although fragile, were delicious. The flavors of the food were undeniably bold and so was our server. He was upbeat, witty, and quick on his feet. This is someone who has mastered his craft as a server. Hats off to you sir! Our experience was amazing! read more
The service was excellent, and our waitress was attentive and personable throughout the meal. This is a great restaurant for ordering multiple dishes and sharing family-style. Despite the size of our order, the food arrived promptly and was well prepared. While some dishes could have benefited from a bit more seasoning (only thing keeping this from a 5 star review), the chili oil sauce served with the wontons complemented everything well and added the needed depth of flavor. The beef roll was a standout and ended up being my favorite dish, especially when paired with the chili oil. Overall, the food was very affordable, and we will definitely be returning. read more
The chicken soup dumplings were so tasty even though it was take out. The soup was still contained inside the dumpling. Nothing was broken. I also tried the beef roll. The beef is cold cut. Love the green onion pancake wraps! Greasy and delicious. A great Chinese/Taiwanese restaurant down south is an automatic 5-star in my book! Casual interior durable for all gatherings. The service was excellent. Plenty of parking. Will definite return to try more items from the menu! read more

Ordered on door dash for a night in date night and all I have to say is WOW. As a die hard "DTF" fan I was unsure if it would be in that caliber and honestly.. it was just as good if not better (and I don't have to catch a flight to get it). Must have the cucumber, pork soup dumplings, green beans, hot and sour soup. The noodles were just okay with me but next time I'll swap that out for something new. read more
My husband and I tried one bite dumpling yesterday evening for the first time. We were seated promptly and ordered Jasmine tea. No water was provided which was a little weird but I'm sure we could've have asked for some. We got the chicken chow mein and chicken soup dumplings. I really enjoyed the chow mein, very fresh noodles and flavorful. I wish there were more noodles but it was still a decent portion. The chicken dumplings we received were dry and did not have any soup in it. They were also very bland tasting so we didn't finish them or take them to go with us. I would recommend this place for their noodles to be honest, a little disappointed with their dumplings and services but still a place I'd like to come back and try more food! read more
Spartan settings in a deep corner of a strip mall at William Cannon and Manchaca - this place is no frills, but serves up good Asian food which is so lacking in South Austin. Service is a little spotty as they work out the kinks (one open 2 weeks), but hopefully it will even out - they are very friendly and appreciative of your patronage. Walk in and take a look at the window where you can see dumplings made by hand. We feasted on a few things: 1. Braised beef and tendon noodle soup (this was sooo good). 2. Garlic bok choy (very good - a bit too much garlic for me but I think others would love it) 3. Mapo Tofu - so flavorful and a very good sized quantity. I like this one in small quantities since the peppercorn and its numbing effect isn't my favorite). Still - very good with the bowl of rice it comes with 4. Spicy wontons - slightly sweet and spicy. Good but was not expecting the portion to be as large as it was - like 10 wontons or so. 5. Soup dumplings - these were very good. Looking forward to returning and trying a few more different things. read more
Totally enjoyed the restaurant! I had seen many videos about this place since I had been looking into places to eat in the southside of Austin and this place continued popping up. The place is such a classic dumpling spot, nothing flashy and nothing extravagant. BUT the food that was placed in-front of me, showed me WHY there's hype about the place. Everything posted about was great, super filling and super big portions. The service was also great too, staff were always super attentive. Like said the interior was nothing flashy, but that food is why it's always popping. Check out the menu and prices, trust me, pictures do NOT do justice. read more
I came in today for lunch for the first time. The was service was fast and prompt. We were allowed to sit anywhere we wanted and they had plenty of tables available. We went with the waitress recommendation and I was very pleased especially with the black pepper shrimp udon. We knew we wanted soup dumplings but the udon was the real star or the show. The soup dumplings were good too nothing crazy to rave about. Overall was a pleasant meal. The actual dining area is very bare so the ambiance is almost a little eery but if you want a solid meal this is a good place! read more

Finally! Legit Chinese food in South Austin! I was so excited to try this place. Overall, the food is a solid A-, the service a B, the ambiance, well... maybe a B- (and that's me being generous). We had a large group, so tried quite a few things: - Soup dumplings (the crab and the pork): They're well filled, with a good chunk of meat in each. Both the crab and pork tasted really fresh, but a little under seasoned. The wrappers are on the thicker, stickier side, but not offensively so. - Beef roll: this was a crowd favorite. It skews a little sweet, heavy on the green onions, but it's yummy, and the fried roll gives a nice texture layer - Veggie egg rolls. Basic, but well prepared. - Bbq pork bun: Really nice. Soft, fresh, tasty. - Dry sautéed green beans. These were one of my favs! So good. Like I don't know how, but so good. - Braised beef tendon noodle soup: This was awesome. The broth is so rich, and the noodles are perfect. - Sesame balls: a little small, but tasty. - Chicken fried rice: again kinda basic, but solid The service was friendly and helpful, my only complaint is they didn't check on us much. Like we were trying to flag someone down for a while. Atmosphere: It's very clean, and I love the live food prep window--it adds a fun energy. That said, the interior feels a bit unfinished, like they haven't had the chance to fully dial in the vibe. Think bright lighting, a sparse setup, and a quirky mix of lantern-style and crystal light fixtures that don't totally match. Still, the food makes up for it. I will DEFINITELY be back. This place is already great, and with just a little polish--especially on the atmosphere side--it could be next level. read more
Happy for south Austin to have another Asian cuisine , especially since it replaces a legendary spot. My partner and I arrived at 1145 on a weekday and were pleasantly surprised to be greeted and seated immediately. There were probably 10 other tables being served throughout our lunch experience. You can order from a QR. code at the table and I assume you can order more and check out on their as well. I menu is straight forward and easy to understand, almost every item had a photo to reference. We got an order of salt and paper squid, pork soup dumplings, sesame balls. I was only taken back by the salt and pepper squid as I was expecting more body than rings. But it was well season/battered. The dumplings were very juicy initially but dry up quickly as the lid is taken and the dumplings dry out as it sits. Haha eat fast. The balls were okay. Nothing to crave for me... Our meal was $40 with tip which I would say it a bit steep for the amount of food. Regardless, the food was good so I can't wait to come back and try more things. read more
I ordered the crab soup dumplings, spicy shrimp soup, and shrimp lomein. Unfortunately, the only pic I grabbed was for the lomein and the dish I liked the least. The crab dumplings were great, the shrimp in both the soup and the lomein were great, but both were lacking flavor. I also really wanted to try the seafood dumplings, but I couldn't because it doesn't list what's in the seafood mix. My meal did come amazingly quick and hot at well! This was an Uber eats delivery, so cannot rate on the locations service or ambiance. read more

This restaurant is in the old Hao Hao space. There's lots of parking during the weekday. Servers were all so attentive! They were all extremely friendly. The owner, Jake was very nice. He took our order and also checked us out. To start, I had the cucumber salad, egg rolls, and pork soup dumpling. The cucumbers were thicker pieces which I liked and it had a lot of garlic slices which I really loved. The eggrolls had a nice crisp to it. The soup dumplings were really tasty! For my entree, I had the spicy beef noodle soup. The noodles are thinner than I'm used to but that's not a bad thing! Just something I noticed. The meat was super tender. So happy to have a good Asian spot in south Austin! read more

MY FAV RESTAURANT OAT! so happy this place is getting the recognition it deserves.... But it was rare I was there when this place was called one-bite dumpling just saying... The soup dumplings are the best in the city.. Idk why people think that place in the triangle comes close. The soup dumplings are so tender here and flavorful! The chowmein is also a FIRE choice! The fruity teas are on the sweeter side, but appropriately flavorful nonetheless. Service is very good! read more
They make the dumplings by hand and you can watch through a window. We ate in and I think that would be best - everything we ordered except for the noodles wouldn't have traveled well. The soup dumplings were hot and tasty and the noodles were SPICY! All of the staff we interacted with was nice. We would come back if we're in the area! read more
This is a good sit down Chinese restaurant in South Austin! I tried their soup dumplings (flavorful but wrapper is a bit thick for me), popcorn chicken (crispy, well seasoned and large portion) and char sui bao ( pillowy bao with good bbq pork flavor). I would def go back! read more

Don't get me wrong, I love myself some crappy greasy Americanized Chinese food. But this isn't what this place tries to present itself as. And it definitely doesn't hit like that kind of Chinese food. How it got such a high rating confuses the heck out of me. Definitely not authentic and definitely not any where near as good as the reviews said. You ever have one of those meals that makes you feel like you wasted your calories? Yep this was one of those meals. Soup dumplings. Mid Shumai. Was this Shumai for ants? Scallion pancake. Soggy Wonton soup. For a dumpling place you'd think they'd be fresh. Nope same stuff from other shitty Chinese takeout spots Wontons in chili oil. Oddly sweet Crab Rangoon. Also oddly sweet, stale wrapper Beef noodle soup. Not bad. Green beans. Brown and wilted. Fish in chilli oil. Where was the fish?? Yang Chou fried rice. Why the heck is it brown and soggy?? Uncle Roger would be LIVID. On top of all that they garnished everything with wilted brown cilantro. None of the food looked like it did in the pictures. False advertising for sure! Should've known this place was bad when we walked in there was no Asian people in there besides the workers. One bite dumpling. More like one star dumpling. read more
I was really excited when I found out that there's a new dumpling place in south Austin; however, it's a bit disappointing. We ordered their pork soup dumpling and it tasted really plain (my wife and I think that Costco dumpling actually tasted better than this lol) the scallion pancake isn't too bad but the portion is too small for a $6 appetiser. The black pepper beef udon is a letdown. - very salty, too much sauce and pepper. Service is decent, food came out decently quick. Parking is widely available. Will probably get something different if I'm back. read more

Excellent fresh food, good prices and great service. We are so excited to have some soup dumplings and good Chinese near our house! We will definitely be back! We got orange chicken, crispy and delicious ... hot and sour soup was rich, thick and full of yummy mushrooms and tofu. Soup dumplings were delicate and melted in my mouth! Cheese wontons were filled up and fresh! The waitstaff was excellent and never let my tea go empty. Can't wait to come back and try some noodles! read more

I arrived early for lunch shortly after opening on the 21st. The food was tasty. I ordered a spicy chicken, hot and sour soup and egg rolls. I found the cabbage in the egg rolls to be a bit over cooked and devoid of much structure outside of the shell. The soup was good as was the entree. However portions were huge. While things can be taken home and were enough to feed four, for a single, the portions were over the top. The result is paying much more to have a meal with various items. I would have preferred something more like bento boxes or being able to get a cup of soup. Or two egg rolls vs 4. If you are a single diner and don't want to pay more for excess food I would not return. Otherwise I recommend limiting the palate to one item. The restroom had no toilet paper in one stall and the remaining stall only had a small amount. To dry your hands, the towel dispenser only provided two inches of paper at a time. To be so early in the day to have these issues seemed odd. read more

First time here, and no wonder it's popular--people were already lining up even in the early evening! Took me a while to realize there was a QR code on the table to order from (would've been nice if someone told me that lol). The green onion pancake was the star for me--super flavorful and way better than I expected. The handmade chicken xiao long bao and beef dumplings were pretty good too. Mapo tofu was just okay. I definitely over-ordered because I wanted to try everything, but overall the quality was solid across the board. Since most of the good Chinese spots are in North Austin, I'm happy to see a legit Chinese place down South! read more

Holy cow. That food was DELICIOUS!!! I was sad to see Hao Hao's go from the neighborhood, but I'm glad One Bite Dumpling moved in. I ordered takeout for this rainy Wednesday night. The food was ready within 30 minutes, they were so nice and efficient when I got there, and it was such a cute remodel to the space. I'm excited to go through their menu and give more updates! read more

We ordered a little bit of everything at One Bite Dumpling -- bacon fried rice, chicken chow mein, beef with peppers, udon soup, steamed soup dumplings, barbecue bao, Kung Pao chicken, and orange chicken. Every dish had its own highlight, but the bacon fried rice and the orange chicken stole the show. The rice was smoky, savory, and full of flavor, and the orange chicken had that perfect balance of crispy, tangy, and sweet. For the portion sizes and flavor, it's honestly a great value for your buck. The steamed soup dumplings were another favorite -- thin, delicate wrappers with piping hot broth inside that made every bite feel like comfort food done right. Everything came out fresh and hot, and you could tell the kitchen really takes care with each dish. On top of the food, the staff made the whole experience even better. They were super sweet, welcoming, and attentive -- checking up on us often without ever being overbearing. The restaurant itself was spotless, and you could feel the team's energy and pride in their work. Honestly, I'm surprised there aren't more reviews for this place or more people talking about it. One Bite Dumpling deserves way more attention because it's a hidden gem in Austin. If you're looking for amazing food, friendly service, and a clean, welcoming environment, don't sleep on this spot -- go check it out! read more

Place is really good, but I ordered the wrong thing. The first time I went, I dined in and ordered their spicy noodles, soup dumplings and their garlic spinach -- 10/10. This time I ordered kung pao chicken and a mystery fried rice? Idk what fried rice I got. Regardless, not very good. I just fumbled my take out night :/ read more

Saw Yelp reviews for this place and had to check it out. We started with egg rolls which were carefully formed and deliciously crispy. Could have used a bit more of the sauce to dip all 4 of them. Then we enjoyed the beef rolls and were surprised at the larger size, the slightly sweet flavor and the crunch of the greens inside. Our pork soup dumplings arrived and they were not too hot to take the whole bite at one time. I thought these could use a bit of seasoning so added some soy sauce. The chicken corn dumplings contained corn kernels with ground meat and were tasty. There are no dessert options yet but the waitress said they hope to add some in the future. We hope to come here again! read more
