Located in Niu Valley Shopping Center where The Sty used to be. Plenty of free uncovered parking. At 8:00 pm we were Welcomed warmly by hostess/server and made sure we chose where we wanted to sit and be comfortable. They had a big party going on so those booths/tables along wall were taken. There are also high top tables but we chose to sit at the bar. Restaurant is chill with booths, tables, u-shaped bar. Great food, full bar with specialty cocktails and love it because pure local vibe, plenty chee-hoos and aloha spirit with no rude patrons. Lots of regulars, plenty from Nalo side so it's good fun! Menu is classic local and love all the choices for pupu, main, and even desserts. This time enjoyed their Teri beef burger which comes with either crispy delicious fries or green salad and choice of dressing- I loved the oriental one. Burger is on warm soft bun and chock full of lettuce, tomato, cheese so ono! Our bartender was Amanda and she was awesome! Concocted some great martinis for us having to sub items but we had a great time because despite the bar being busy she made sure we weren't parched lol and made sure we had what we needed. Other bartenders also checked in with us - and made sure our plates were cleared, had more water, refreshed our drinks. If you're looking for a quiet place around 8:00 pm, don't come here. The place is very loud with music and people laughing and enjoying themselves. You may have to shout your order to be heard. Then at 9:30 the DJ comes on and dancing happens. It's a small dance floor but still fun! They post a bouncer at door to charge a cover. Kitchen closes around 10:00, but Amanda was nice to let us know a few minutes before incase we wanted dessert. They close at midnight on weekends. Mahalo to owners for maintaining a good place to enjoy very reasonably priced ono food and served by our peeps on the side of island that needs more places like this.

Super amazingly delicious food with awesomely cool staff... Beastside recently started their breakfast currently opening at 7:00am yay yay Great prices & health portions too. This morning I got the tenderizing fried rice with two scrambled eggs, a side of French toast and superiority crispy juicy bacon... yum alert ... this is so nice

I've heard good things about this place so I got takeout on the way to the beach. The guava bbq chicken seems to be a favorite but I was feeling more like the ginger scallion chicken so I got that. I chose kimchi as the side instead of macaroni salad to be healthier. The person up front was friendly and inside the restaurant looked like a nice place to dine in. The ginger scallion chicken was a "hot" version meaning it wasn't cold like the usual way. It has a subtle different taste being marinated in the guava bbq sauce. Overall it is what you would expect it to taste like. The kimchi was pretty good and in between fresh and sour. Another person got the shrimp and bbq chicken combo and that looked good. They were happy with their choices. I'll try the bbq chicken next time!

This garlic shrimp is one of theeee best plates for garlic shrimp. It has light coat of oanko and deep fried to perfection. That fresh garlic sauce in the rice it's super good - not heavy - just right. My hubby at my left over rice cause the sauce was on point. Service was friendly and quick for take out. It's a restaurant and bar style with live music on special nights. The feel was local casual and comfortable.

Went here on a Wednesday right before lunch to do takeout. The staff were very helpful, especially since they knew it was our first time there. We got the garlic umami fries, pastele nachos, the big pua'a moco, -n- the furikake ahi katsu. Food was delicious! I loved how they have a calendar of events. I would love to go back for the live music -n- next time definitely eat in.

Lunch is between the hours of 1100a thru 200p. Ordered online via Local by Toast...dining app. My burger was on the counter 20 minutes later. I requested Beastside Kitchen's Makapu'u Sunrise Burger. It could be renamed Sunset ( you will drown if you go in the ocean after consuming this Beast ) as it is a hefty sandwich: 1/3 lb. Wagyu patty, fried egg, bacon, and cheese, with aioli on the side. It didn't need the aioli as it was quite flavorful. Patty was medium-rare. Also, comes with a side...I chose kim chee to cut through the oil and fat. Newly built bar is sitauted at the front right of the dining area and stage is back, and center. Live music ( usually ) performed Thursday-Sunday evenings.

Beastside Kitchen - Hawaiʻi Kai Stopped by Beastside Kitchen in Hawaiʻi Kai and had a great experience overall. I ordered the Pastele Nachos, and they were really solid. At first glance it didn't look like a ton of chips, but it turned out to be the perfect chip-to-meat ratio--every bite had plenty of flavor without feeling dry or overloaded. It was a bit on the salty side, but honestly nothing a cold beer couldn't wash down. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the space is great for groups, whether you're out with friends or family. They also offer happy hour from 3pm-6pm, plus late-night hours Thursday through Sunday from 9pm to close, which makes it an easy choice any time of day. Overall, good food, good vibes, and a solid spot in Hawaiʻi Kai worth checking out.

Always wanted to try this place but never really in the area so since we were on that side this afternoon we decided to give it a try. We were not disappointed! We were seated immediately, ordered quickly and the food was brought to us so fast! The restaurant was almost full too. Food was amazing, my favorite was the pork belly bao and the shoestring fries! The pastele stew was good too but I do wish the meat was chunks of pork butt or belly instead of ground meat. Flavor was spot on though. I can't wait to go back though the menu looked so good we had a hard time figuring out what to choose. We want to try the whole menu!

Came here for the first time with my friend. I ordered the 3 choice combo plate (pork belly, umami shrimp, and bbq guava fried chicken). It bit pricey, but the plate is packed. The pork belly was super tender and tasted similar to Big City Diner guava ribs. The umami shrimp was super delicious and garlicky. The bbq guava fried chicken was probably the best entree. It was very crispy yet packed with flavor and juiciness. I didn't really taste any guava flavor, but it was more on the Korean Fried Chicken from Zippys taste. The staff is fast and friendly. Lots of parking and lots of tables to dine at.

If you're seeing this, you should absolutely go to Beastside Kitchen! We came in on a Friday night at 9:50 and were told we could order, just couldn't get anything from the grill. We got the shrimp, pork belly, and guava chicken and none of them disappointed! Garlic umami shrimp is soooo good and flavorful. Waitress said since they deep fry it, you can eat the shell of the shrimp. Definitely try it, half our table liked it better w the shell on because more flavor. My friend reallyyy enjoyed the pork belly as well. And the guava chicken was so so tasty! So much so that we came back a second day and brought my friend's mom. And speaking of coming on a Friday night, we came in and there was a singer on stage with a really engaged audience. It was a good time with a good meal and that's really all you could ask for on a Friday night! They had a schedule full of events including an old school night. I'll definitely be back on my next trip!

First of all the service was amazing. Every worker we interacted with was so welcoming and just amazing. Second the waitress suggested to order to share and we did just that. I love their food but I do have a complaint. I have tried to call them for the past two days to order. They have not answered the phone despite many tries. Respect to this place. As soon as we entered, we were welcomed and then told it may be a wait as they were understaffed. We appreciated the heads up and decided to stay because we weren't in a rush. Yes, our food took a while - but there's something about knowing that makes it easier. We ordered: pineapple juice, garlic umami fries, guava BBQ fried chicken plate, kids' spam musubi plate, Gold Cliff IPA, Beastside Poke, and Da Pake Chicken Salad. All of it was good! I'm not sure if they gave us extra fried chicken for the wait but it was A LOT. Worth the wait and got our money's worth. Strongly recommend! read more

Beastside Kitchen, run by Liko herself and their Ohana, has the BEST local food with taste twists on all the favorite foods we're used to! And they are supportive of our local Hui Nalu Canoe Club! And, they host our Honolulu Board of Realtors monthly meetings with an awesome breakfast. Great place for a party or just a quick bite to go! And the weekly LIVE MUSIC is so much fun! read more

Soft opening menu is fantastic. Also had live music on the evening that I went. Food has nice complex flavors and unique combos. Just look at the photos! Went there a couple of weeks ago and had lunch ordered a chicken salad and had the pork belly chowder. Awesome! Went again for dinner a couple of nights ago and had the smoked pork belly plate and the garlic bbq chicken. Some parts of the pork belly was tough and needed to be cut with a knife. Chicken pieces had more skin than meat and not enough sauce over it. Should have done the salad instead. They have an awesome lilikoi dressing! read more

Terrible service & okay food. The bbq pork bao was actually pretty good and the taro bun on the paniolo burger was soft. Kelly was our server and she purposely ignored our table. She went to EVERY TABLE around us, didn't even give us eye contact, and they all came in way AFTER we ordered. Our food took about 40 minutes to come out. It wasn't even busy. The tables around us got their food before us and left before we even got our food. The owner or the manager on duty also went to every table to apologize about the wait but our table.. why is that? The only staff that was nice to us was the hostess, she was very polite and approachable. We needed more drinks or even to get ketchup took forever to get her attention or for her to come by our table. Like I said she would literally pass our table and go talk to the other tables around us. To get our check and a take out box took forever also but again, Kelly went to every table, turned her back so she didn't have to face us, and talked with them or gave them their checks. Our server was joking and laughing with us when we sat down and ordered our food, so I really don't understand how her service just went downhill and tbh so terrible. read more

Onolicious food! Really hits the spot after a beautiful day at the beach! Shrimp is very flavorful and crispy; better than the garlic shrimp places on the north shore that's swimming in grease. Chicken is so crispy on the outside & super tender on the inside. Will definitely stop by again when I'm in Nalo. & while you're there get a dole whip or shave ice from Nalo Snow. My grandson says it's better than Matsumoto's!! read more

This place is definitely worth trying. I think it's best to call first since they have catered events and private parties sometimes, but so happy to have tried it out. The Smoked AHI DIP is sooooooo good!!! The classic loco moco is super good and HUGE! Their tofu poke salad was good, too. There are more items I want to try so I will be back. read more

Omg...we drove from Ewa Beach to try the food and it definitely didn't disappoint!! The Umami garlic shrimp is my new "Crack" addiction!! And to add to that the Guava Chicken was moist and crust was broke Da mouth crispy ONO And now the Pork Belly Bao Bun...add that broke da mouth pickled onion and it's a winner winner Bao dinner Thank you to the staff and chefs for a meal worth more then the drive and we'll definitely be back out there to eat! read more

The food was great! We started with the Kailua Tempura Bites and the Garlic Umami Fries, the flavor on these was awesome! The fish tempura was moist and tender and the fries, bruh, I'm salivating right now. I had the loco moco which was meh, my wife had the pork belly bao and that was ! My son had the Guava BBQ Fried Chicken which was the best fried chicken I've ever had tasted. Flavor was , chicken was crunchy on the outside and very tender inside. Service was great, restaurant was modern and clean, food was delicious! My boyfriend enjoyed every single bite of his Choose 3 combo! The pork belly bao was good and came with four big pieces. Korean short ribs had a lot of flavour, and the pork belly fried rice was good except the rice was a bit hard :( The portions were quite big so I recommend ordering a couple things and sharing. Expect to spend $20-$30 per plate, not the cheapest option but still yummy! read more

After doing a commercial shoot in Hawaii Kai, yelp hooked me up with this place to eat. The service we received from our waiter, Kevin was outstanding. The food, was amazing. Kevin sold us the top three items on the menu and he didn't lie, it was good. We were lucky to catch live music by Boogie which gave good vibes and ambiance was relaxing. read more

This place is as advertised some of the best shrimp I've ever had absolutely amazing! We showed up at 5 just before closing time and ordered one plate, plus the mochi. Both were delicious so we ordered another plate! The owners/staff are also super friendly. Been here once at their old location and loved the plate lunches. Heard about the new location and had to check it out--anyways the food did not disappoint. The garlic shrimp is to DIE FOR, and I'm not exaggerating. I hardly like shells on the shrimp but they make it so crunchy that I just eat it up. A nice amount of garlic and butter on the rice, this is one of my top 3 places to get garlic shrimp. Their other dishes such as the guava fried chicken is really good too. read more

Came for dinner. We were really excited to eat here after seeing the photos and reviews. The host was nice. Sat us down and brought us a highchair for our son. There were 2 parties in the restaurant when we walked Sat there for 10 mins without being acknowledged by a waiter or waitress. Then 3 people came out of the kitchen. 2 people walked into a side room and were talking. Another person made eye contact with me, then walked over to the front, host area, pulled out her phone, and stood there. Sat there looking around and made eye contact with the person on her phone again. She didn't come up. Then we discussed giving it a little while because they might've been busy or perhaps there was a communication delay and they didn't know we were there (the same 2 parties of 2 and us were still the only ones in the restaurant). Another person came out of the kitchen and wiped a table. I tried to make eye contact with her, but she didn't even look at us. Just wiped a table, turned around quickly, then went back to the kitchen. Again discussed if we should give it a little while. Made eye contact with the host area. They still didn't come to us. So we left after about 15 minutes of sitting there without anyone acknowledging our presence. On the way out, the lady on her phone was now chatting with the hosts and said, "thank you," on the way out. I don't even think they were still aware that we weren't even served. The garlic chicken plate was perfect, juicy not over cooked chicken, perfect amount of breading, and the sauce was garlicky but not over the top. Staff at the front were extremely friendly to me and my parents and even told us the nights to come for live music. The interior is Zippy's-esque but slightly higher scale. A large portion of the menu is dedicated to breakfast offerings, but there is also a very sizable selection of Japanese dishes. I wasn't craving anything for breakfast, so I opted for the Beef Sukiyaki Combo, which came with a hefty portion of beef sukiyaki, rice, a soft-poached egg, and miso soup. This really hit the spot. Everything was delicious. If you like gyudons, you should definitely consider the beef sukiyaki here. My wife ordered the loco moco and subbed in a falafel patty. I was expecting the patty to be hard and/or dry, but it was utterly perfect! It was crispy on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside. And it paired so well with the gravy, egg, and rice. I would highly recommend this dish as well. We ordered an acai bowl for my young daughter, which was also great. This is our new brunch spot on the east side!

If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Safeway and Foodland's wings are Class A in comparison. I think the problem may have been that I ordered our food too early and kitchen got right on it, packaged it up and set it aside. So I'm thinking our order sat there forgotten for an hour or so. It took the waitress at least 20 minutes just to find our order and bring it out. Maybe the kitchen staff are new. Within moments, the host approached us with the same rude attitude and told us that table was being held for another party. We politely asked to speak with a manager. Rather than responding professionally, she visibly rolled her eyes before going to get one, which only reinforced how unwelcome we felt. When the manager arrived, the interaction was equally disappointing. He never asked us what had happened or tried to understand our perspective. Instead, he immediately apologized and reiterated that the table was reserved for another waiting party. We didn't want to cause a scene, so we simply moved to another available bar table. What made the situation especially frustrating was that the original table they insisted was reserved remained empty the entire time afterward. No one was ever seated there while we watched. It left us questioning why such a rigid stance was taken over a seating arrangement that appeared easily manageable. The issue was never about having to move tables. We understand restaurants get busy and that hosts have to manage seating. The problem was the complete lack of hospitality, communication, and customer service. From the host's attitude and eye-rolling to the manager's unwillingness to listen before making a decision, we felt like an inconvenience rather than welcomed guests. As first-time customers, first impressions matter. We arrived excited to enjoy our evening, but instead left feeling ignored, dismissed, and genuinely unwelcome. A little kindness, professionalism, and a willingness to communicate could have completely changed this experience. Unfortunately, that's not what we received.

The atmosphere is beautiful with a nice open-air feel and fresh breeze, which made it a perfect place to relax. My drink was made quickly and tasted great. It's also really easy to find inside the Outrigger--just head past the pool and you'll see it. Overall, it was a great spot to unwind with excellent service, a fun vibe, and delicious drinks. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Waikīkī.

He went out of his way to find us a table, keeping us updated and checking in while we waited. The wait was only about 20 minutes, which flew by thanks to the amazing atmosphere. The ambiance was fantastic! Lively conversations, laughter, and the incredible sound of live music filled the air. It was a delightful wait, with the music serving as perfect entertainment. I recently indulged in the Paniolo Burger at Beastside in 'Aina Haina, and it was amazing! The half-pound Wagyu blend beef was perfectly cooked, complemented by the savory cheddar cheese, crispy bacon, sautéed bell peppers and onions, and the flavorful BBQ aioli sauce. The combination on the toasted brioche bun was a taste sensation. Don't even get me started on the shoe string fries - they were the ideal crispy counterpart.
