If you plan to spend your work lunch hour here, not a good idea because service is extremely slow, unless you are here with your boss such as me. I can tell by the looks and popularity of this place, that this was going to be a treat. I ordered the beef bourguignon and unfortunately, it was extremely salty I felt rude for not eating my food and I didn't want to say anything. HOWEVER... the bag of biscuits is a redeemer! So delicious! Soft and buttery!! My other co-workers made mention about their dishes were salty as well. The chocolate purse was very decadent tiny and rich enough that a couple of scoops is enough. Great dessert for sharing.
Came by to celebrate a birthday. We have been to their Kauai location and sister restaurants like monkeypod and beach house. Food was great except the pork, which was super salty. The manger took the meal off our bill. We like the Kauai location better because it feels more like you're on vacation. This location felt more like a diner.
Atmosphere: 5*, Food: 5*, Service: 5+* My son chose Merriman's to celebrate his completion of his Masters degree. Despite all the glass windows, it's not noisy at all so it's a very relaxing vibe. We enjoyed everything we ate, including the dessert. When you go, we hope that Jordan is your server as she is exceptionally sweet and friendly. Alex, the manager, asked about our special occasion when we entered, so Jordan knew why we were there when she approached our table. She even provided a special ice cream dessert for our son. Service is truly top-notch here. We'll definitely be back.
We dined here and were very impressed with the entire experience - one of my kids has listed this as their favorite place. The ambiance was very nice with a very friendly pianist playing most of the evening. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating with ensuring we had food available fairly quickly for our toddlers. All of the food and drinks were wonderful. The French onion soup was VERY good. The ravioli was phenomenal. We definitely recommend coming here for a nice meal with fresh ingredients.
We came here for Lunch happened to be happy hour, so we decided to order from the happy hour menu. The smash burger was very good. I find it a little salty.. The kalua pig quesadilla came with a little bit of kimchi, which was very good. My favorite is fish and chips. That was delicious. Our bar ender /waitress Jackie. She was so attentive and friendly. . She made our day
Located in Ward Village at the southern end of Kaka'ako district. There's tons of free parking in the various garages they have We came specifically to try their Happy Hour menu and we were not disappointed. Large open airy seating area with plenty of staff running around to serve you. The happy hour cocktails a bit small but still satisfyingly refreshing. The food was great, we ordered... Cocktails, Mai Tai and Farm to Table Food... Taro Hummus Kalua pork quesadillas Fish tacos Fish and chips Everything was yummy and a good portion for Happy Hour item. Our waitress Ailee was cheerful and very attentive. She came by often to check on us. While other table staff came by often to clear the table and fill water glasses. They worked together well. Hostess could learn how to smile though :)
Came here for brunch with the family and they did not disappoint. We asked for outside reservations so we could bring our dog and as soon as we were seated a server brought a bowl of water for the pup! Outside was hot but there was still a breeze. Everyone was happy with what they ordered. I had the chicken pot pie and it was packed with flavor! I also had the corn chowder (despite the weather) and I do not regret it! My boyfriend had the fish and chips and the fish and shrimp were very big pieces! The fries were also on point! We also had people order the smash burger, fish burger, and kalua pig benny (brunch special). Everything looked and tasted great! Service was good and parking is easy in the ward area. Overall very happy with food and service and will be back!
If you're even slightly familiar with the Hawai'i' culinary scene, then you know Peter Merriman is an icon. His original restaurant is a cozy little joint in Waimea on the big island that I love. This Honolulu location has a different, upscale city vibe, but still manages to bring the comfort of the original. Rest assured, it's a total knockout in every way! The menu is unique, local, inspiring, and downright delicious. The interior is charming and bright. Service is top tier. And that famous lilikoi foam mai tai will forever ruin all other mai tais for you. There is simply nothing to critique. To top it all off, they have a spectacular happy hour that runs until 5:30. They often feature live music on the patio too, which is lovely. Make sure to book a reservation - it's always busy. But if you can't get in, consider trying one of Merriman's other restaurants instead. Moku and Monkeypod are slightly more casual, but equally good. The menu at Merrimans is the best, but I actually prefer Monkeypod for the amazing ocean views. Moku is a nice alternative because there is rarely a crowd and it's easier to get to. They all feature similar menus and all serve the one and only mai tai.
Well at this point, I'm on a first name basis with staff and the managers, even Mr. Merriman's son. Definitely my go to spot at Ward Village. Happy hour is well worth it. All the items on the menu are good. Ambiance is awesome. That live music starts right when happy hour ends - makes it worth your while to stay Keep it up!
Our Merriman's adventure kicked off right -- we slid in just in time for Happy Hour, which immediately set the tone for a winning evening. The table went full appetizer mode: Taro Hummus (fine, not life-changing), Salt and Pepper Fries (absolute perfection -- do not skip these), Kalua Pig Quesadilla (solid), and the Tako with Country Bread, which was so transcendently good that one member of our party said "forget the entrée, I'm having two of these" and just... did that. A bold move. A correct move. Drinks were mostly a delight -- the Pineapple Li Hing Mui Soda was a tasty little tropical adventure -- but the real surprise of the evening was someone else's root beer. A root beer. Somehow the best one any of us had ever tasted. We're still thinking about it. For mains, the Mac Nut Fish (Shutome/Swordfish) was a total knockout, the Cast Iron Chicken earned rave reviews, the grilled fish tacos held their own, and the smash burger was... respectable. Our waitress was an absolute gem -- attentive, warm, and the kind of server who makes you want to tip well and come back soon. Add in the lovely ambiance and solid Happy Hour deals, and Merriman's earns a hearty recommendation -- just make sure you book a reservation!
Merriman's located in Ward/Kaka'ako is an elevated Farm to Table restaurant, conveniently located near Whole Foods and Ward parking structures. I expressed that I always wanted to go with my friend, so she was kind enough to take me and make a reservation during the Happy Hour period so we could be thrifty too. Here were my impressions of everything I had this past weekend from most to least favorite: Lobster "Pot Pie" (5/5): For an entree that was $70, I hesitated because I didn't want to be disappointed with 2-3 morsels of lobster. But I was so glad I tried it because they were generous with lobster portions and it was the perfect pot pie crust. "We Mix It How You Like It" Tableside Poke (4.5/5): I was skeptical in how deep in flavor the poke would have when it wasn't premarinated in advance but it was just right. The avo and ono were both underrated ingredients that makes me want to make my own rendition at home. Parmesan Truffle Fries (3.5/5): The crisp to the fries were nice but I prefer my fries to also be more fluffy on the inside. Honorable Mentions (3/5): Roasted Beet & Hirabara Farms Fennel and Ginger Beer, not really much to add, wasn't overly impressed nor disappointed with these items. Overall, Merriman's was great. Nice place for a Friday night dinner.
It was my first time at merriman's for lunch service and it was good. We sat outside and it was a nice day but unfortunately the construction was a little distracting. Otherwise, the food was good and server was great. While I think merriman's is a reliable place to go to, it's not my first pick in the area.
Came here last night after craving prime rib for the past week to try out Merrimen's new-ish late night prime rib $30 special and was not disappointed! The portion size was decent (keep it mind the deal is only valid from 8PM on, and they close at 9, so you want to eat fast.) It came with a few pieces of broccoli and mashed potatoes. I was super impressed because the place was packed! At 8pm, on a random Tuesday night. But I think this attests to how good and comfortable the food is. Will be back considering I live down the street! Yay.
To be honest, I used to think Merriman's was a little overrated but we decided to give the happy hour a try and left very impressed. We came on a Sunday around 3:00pm and were seated right away without reservations. From the happy hour menu, we ordered the Schezuan Green Beans, Hapa Poke, and Fish Tacos. We also ordered the Tako with Bread, French Onion Soup, and the Chicken Laulau pot pie from the regular dinner menu. Our favorites were the Tako with Bread (like an Octopus Escargot), Green Beans (we always get this at Moku's too) and the Chicken Laulau pot pie (they only had a few available, definitely get this if you love Laulau/squid luau). Definitely recommend coming for a solid happy hour menu meal! read more

Merriman had a great atmosphere and a wonderful collection of wine which is why we decided to eat there for lunch the menus has an assortment of entree and we decide on the fish and chips and the smash burgers which both csme with fries plenty of parking and inside or outside tining a wonderful place for a function with friends read more
Shall I gate keep? I been for a while just because I wanna keep this place to myself lol. This is my favorite go to restaurant by far. I been to a lot of restaurants and none of them surpasses this restaurant. From ambiance 10, service 10, food 10. Great place to go for anniversary. 10/10 plus plus and more. Also great music entertainment from this local braddah very talented and friendly. No one bothers you there and they are very quick to refill your drink with out flagging them down. read more
Stopped by for happy hour during a storm with my cousin lol! (This review was from a couple months ago.) Staff were super friendly and didn't have to wait long for a table, likely bc there was a storm. Pretty pricey place but decent for happy hour and special occasions. What we ordered: -Mai Tais: So goooood! I loved the lilikoi cream on top. I'd def order this again! 5/5 -Bread Pudding: My cousin and I shared this and it was amazing! Very tropical take on a classic dessert. The pineapple reallly added a great tang and contrast. 5/5 Overall, really enjoyed my experience here. I'd definitely come back for the food when I'm on the island again! read more

I've been to Merriman's before but not for HH. We decided to come here for happy hour on a Tuesday. Their happy hour times are from 3:00-5:30PM. The indoor dining room was full so we agreed to sit in the outside dining area just so we could make it in time for happy hour. There was live music outside so we didn't mind it at all! We ordered everything right before 5:30. The portions for all the dishes were the perfect size. We shared all the dishes and were full enough that we didn't even need to order anything from the main menu, besides the table-side poke. Our server was very attentive and constantly checked up on us to make sure everything was okay. The fish tacos and the smash burger were my favorite dishes. The buns on the burger had a slight crisp to it and were very savory! All of the dishes were very tasty and delicious. I don't give out 5 stars quite often but this experience definitely deserved it! We had a good time and will definitely be coming back. The musician outside was also playing a lot of classics with a reggae mix to it so that enhanced the experience as well. Parking is very convenient, as the parking garage is in the same building as the restaurant. If that fills up you can also park in the TJ Maxx garage next building over. read more
Merriman's is located on the corner of Auahi St. and offers indoor and outdoor seating. We didnt have a reservation so we sat at the Bar. The service is quick and friendly and the best part is they have hooks to put your purse. Merrimans is airy, well lit and welcoming. We ordered the famous Biscuits with butter, so yummy! Followed by the french onion soup- sweet onions, cheese , bread and the beef broth made for an enjoyable taste. Finally the crispy fish, shrimp were tender and flavorful. The best I've had, so worth the cost. It was our first time to Merriman's even though we've been to honolulu serveral times. This will definitely be a regular stop from nowcon. read more
Merriman's Honolulu absolutely nailed it. The smash burger was insanely delicious--perfectly crisp edges, juicy center, and packed with flavor. And the chicken pot pie? Hands down one of the most delicious I've ever had. Rich, comforting, and clearly made with care. The vibe is fantastic--relaxed but elevated--and the location couldn't be better. It feels like the kind of place you want to linger in. On top of that, the staff were genuinely wonderful: warm, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Ask for the Wi-Fi password. This is a cellular dead zone. Can't wait to come back. Highly recommend! read more
Returned after several years away, following many great visits in the past, and this place is still everything I remembered. The staff are genuinely welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed and enjoyable, and the food continues to be excellent. Glad to see the consistency over time. I'll be back soon. read more
Went to Merriman's to celebrate mom's birthday. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is attentive and friendly. And they have live music. Happy hour from 3-5:30pm which we made it to just in time. I've been looking for a new fish n chips spot since Likos closed, and I have to say this one was really good! Very crispy and flaky fish with good flavor. Will definitely get again. The green beans have a nice crunch and flavor. I like the macadamia nuts on top for extra crunch as well. I tried the beef bourguignon for the first time. The meat was very tender and flavorful. Kind of reminded me of a fancy beef stew (in a good way). My mom got the cast iron chicken. Portion was very big, those chickens were fed well. Delicious taste and cooked to perfection! For mom's birthday, they gave us complimentary champagne glasses. For dessert they sent an ice cream scoop with a happy birthday message. Well done Merriman's. Will be coming back! read more

We had the most awesomest service by Sabrina for dinner. We were there to celebrate a friend's birthday and she started it off by complimentary champagne! Her service was exceptional throughout the evening! Thank you , Sabrina! Have fun in medical school! read more
This place is definitely a vibe. I went for happy hour, which is decently priced for the area. If you can I recommend sitting outside simply to enjoy the gorgeous weather and outdoor atmosphere but inside is decorated in a trendy, upscale vibe. Plenty of seating. We didn't have a reservation and didn't have to wait. We decided to split some small plates. The fish tacos were good but would not recommend if you're pretty hungry because you only get 2 and the fish piece is quite small; very flavorful though! We also got the hummus with the sweet potato chips which was delicious! They do offer more chips for the dip we had left but we were full by then. Also recommend the current chef's cocktail. It's a twist in a classic marg and comes with tajin on the rim (IYKYK). The service was impeccable. From the greeting at the door to timely delivery of the check, but not rushing to leave once we paid. I'll definitely come back the next time I'm in town read more

This place is one of my favorite places for happy hour! They are located in Ward Village downstairs of the Anaha building. There's lots of parking all over Ward which is a definite plus. They have lunch, happy hour and dinner. I've come at different times but happy hour is my favorite. Prices vary depending what you get but their prices are pretty standard for the area. They are always busy and it can get loud inside if it's busy and you're trying to have a conversation. They also have outdoor seating. They have their famous pineapple foam mai tai and several drink specials and some of their appetizers for a discount led price for happy hour. The green beans are my favorite appetizer since they're crunchy and the chili sauce isn't too spicy. One of the best things we've had also is their late night $30 special prime rib. It's such a great deal and it's really good! Its only available Sunday-Thursday 8-9pm. It does go quick so you should order it as soon as you sit down. Overall service, food and ambiance are great. I've gone to Merriman's Honolulu on three separate occasions: to celebrate my birthday, to celebrate a job promotion and on a date. I LOVE it here. Their SZECHUAN STIR-FRY GREEN BEANS WITH MAC NUTS is delicious. It's got a nice crunch and a little kick to it. They used to have clams as an appetizer and it was so good especially with the bread! I ALWAYS order their steak Frites because how can you go wrong with some prime sirloin cooked to perfection and rosemary sea salt fries? I did try their CAST IRON ORGANIC CHICKEN a main dish they're known for and it was juicy, flavorful, and big enough to share with another person. I've yet to try their WAIALUA CHOCOLATE PURSE each of the times I went they ran out of it and I was heartbroken. Maybe on the next visit my luck will change. Be sure to check out their menu for specials and I recommend making reservations. If you can, it doesn't hurt to visit during happy hour so you can try more dishes. read more

This was my second visit. This time it was not happy hour so I ordered from the regular menu. I opted to start with the famous Mai tai. It was perfect as usual, with the Lilikoi foam topper. For my meal I opted for the fish sandwich. Our server really sold me on it because of the delicious house made Kaiser roll it was served on. She was right! I was so happy with this sandwich. The fish was seasoned perfectly, cooked just right, and the roll was perfectly chewy on the outside and springy soft in the middle. This is the first time I've enjoyed a Kaiser roll! One thing to note is that it does not come with fries, so you'll have to order those on the side. This was an enjoyable meal inside a modern and comfortable dining room with lovely city views through the large glass windows surrounding us. read more

Whoever get the cherry earrings she gotta go !!!! Even the customers besides us in HER section felt the same! Especially I am aware they pull tip there. So pilau to that server!!! But eh she said no rush because we celebrating when we JUST GOT THERE but it's clear you gotta flip tables !! You were the main one that told us to take our time and then for you to go and say to me and guest that we are yapping too much ! Stay consistent with the hospitality & service because we as customers have been also in the f&b industry and your service ain't IT !!!!!! We also kindly know the owners and amazing other staff that do a great job so for you to have a bad attitude like that just shows you ain't part of the team and Ohana See your way out with your cherry earrings ain't nothing cherry about your service sis and Is why you never got tipped. I understand it's a pull tip at this restaurant but she ain't it and won't ever be able to receive any good service back with that kind of mentality of feeling rushed in this business! We arrived at 6:30pm and waited just a few minutes before being seated. Our friendly server brought our drinks promptly and walked us through the evening's specials. Within minutes, our food was served. The kalua pig quesadillas were outstanding--perfectly crispy with tender, flavorful pork, paired with poi dip and kim chee. Went here for a lunch meeting. The outdoor seating was the perfect casual but elegant lunch spot. It was extremely windy outside which was a little distracting, so inside would be quieter. I ordered the smash burger and father's which was delicious, the burger was juicy and the fries were tasty. Good size portion and worth the money. Our waiter was very nice and kept our waters filled. Went for happy hour menu around 4:15pm. Waited about 15 minutes. There's a wait for bar seating too, bar is not open seating- you have to wait. Didn't love that. Happy hour menu is between 3-5:30pm. The service was quick. Quick to take our order and food to come out of kitchen. Food is really good. Great price and potion size is good. I like the smash burger and green beans. My friends and I came here on a Thursday evening for dinner. It was a little busy, so we had to wait for a table to become available. We had a stroller with us, and they were able to accommodate the stroller. Food: We started with the bag of biscuits and fries to share. The biscuits were pretty good. Enough to share between 3 adults. The fries were standard and delicious. For my entree, I ordered the mushroom ravioli. While the dish does not come with a lot of ravioli, it is a good sized portion and very good. Service: Since it was busy, service was a little slow. However, everyone at the restaurant was very nice and accommodating since we had a baby with us. Our server was nice and checked up on us regularly. I would say each time I visit, the experience has been between four and five stars. I do like the dinner menu more than the lunch/happy hour options. Last visit, we went for lunch, and I ordered their burger because I remembered loving their dinner burger (Umami burger - five stars!). Their lunch burger was still good, but it doesn't compare to the Umami burger. My husband thought the fish and chips were good but average. The desserts were great! My friend got the chocolate purse which was unique - she enjoyed it, but it was a one and done. The bread pudding was amazing! Highly recommend it if you like bread pudding. Service was good! The aesthetic was modern with island flare. I would def recommend Merriman's. Can't wait to experience the Umami burger next time! read more

Per their Instagram, there was a plumbing pipe that burst and they had to close to address the resulting extensive water damage.
Who were the 2 musicians who entertained us on 3/2 from 11-2? The first artist was a guy and the 2nd was a young woman. We enjoyed the live music with our lunch.

They definitely do not use canola oil in their salad dressings; they use high end olive oil.
