Beachcomber has an ideal location, right on the beach and walkable from a lot of hotels! Service was laid back and food was delicious! Lots of great drink options as well. Down here in Saint A for a few days and wanted seafood so bad on my first night. There wasn't a lot of parking spaces but thankfully we got there before it got busy. Service was prompt and the cocktail I had (Loca Pina) was STRONG. I had the duo platter with mahi mahi and shrimp. The shrimp was delicious and the mahi mahi was good if slightly on the bland side. The dill potato salad was amazing, I highly reccomend it. My mom had the fish reuben (also with mahi mahi) and that was really good, funky in all the ways it should be! Oh, if you're going to get a drink make sure you take your id all the way out of your wallet-- they have to check the back to make sure it's not fake lol read more

Our absolute #1 fave restaurant! Where else can you eat dinner with your feet literally in the sand? I've never eaten a thing here that I didn't LOVE! And the servers are so sweet and just amazing people. Jennifer took such great care of us and our dog. I love the dog friendly atmosphere, patrons are all relaxed and friendly. We really liked the Beachcomber, we were passing through St. Augustine beach and actually had a different restaurant in mind that was closed. We stumbled upon the Beach comber. It's a step above fast casual and it's close to the beach but no ocean views. That's okay. Service was great and a varied menu. We ate outside where they allow dogs, btw. It's a great beach bar/restaurant and you can feel okay dressing casual here. The food was plentiful and on point . Where "A"street meets the ocean. That's what I read on one of the server's shirts but it's the address as well. Awesome place, relaxed atmosphere. Seems like everyone is a regular and I love that. Food, ambiance and wait staff are all great but the one thing they lack is a wait space, we had to wait 30 in the sun to get seated. Our waitress Donna was simply amazing, so friendly and even asked if it she could take of her mask to make the experience a bit more personal as she had been fully vaccinated, I agreed as both my wife and I have been vaccinated as well. What a great little restaurant! Right at entrance of St. Augustine beach is the Beachcomber. Luckily only 10 people in our family went for lunch. Parties of 10 or less only. I had a Romaine wedge salad with a skewer of grilled shrimp. This was topped with their homemade blue cheese dressing. Yummy! Another excellent dish was mahi mahi Ruben sandwich. Just delicious! The reviews for the beachcomber are all over the place but here is mine. Cool place on the dunes that we could walk the beach to. Picnic tables outside to enjoy the weather. Peel and eat shrimp, coconut shrimp and sides of coleslaw all great. They have a potato salad with pickles in it that I really liked. Caesar salad good as well. Service was ok. All in all a great Florida restaurant. One thing about Florida bars in general is the tonic is usually dispensed from a gun and flat. That was the case here. Small bottles is the way to go. Think I'll bring my own next time. What's summer without a gin and tonic? This street that ends with the Beachcomber is also an access point for a beach with a lifeguard. With a permit you can drive on the beach as well. Definitely give this place a try. read more

The best drinks on A1A plus great food plus the beach...is 6 stars an option? The outdoor eating area is top notch, at the right tables you can even see the ocean. Be sure to try the coconut shrimp app, and if you are into beautiful, tasty mixed drinks I suggest the "her name was Lola" or the Loco Pina. I came here twice on vacation. First time was great. It's why I came back. Good food, good drinks, friendly service. Second time? None of the above. I could barely get service seated at the bar because they were too busy making drinks for everyone else. I sat with an empty glass and finished plate for 45 minutes with no attention. Finally the bartender just handed me my check without saying a word. There are far better places to go in St. Augustine. They are just using their location and beach to cover poor service. read more

Attention all beach goers, I found your perfect spot for lunch or dinner. They're located on a side street, that's a straight shot down next to the beach entrance. They do have parking but please make sure you're planning on eating there and not just going to the beach. Someone's always watching you and you will be towed. Its your typical beach restaurant (from a Floridian opinion) with plenty of outdoor seating and even a couple of picnic tables on the sand. You don't have a view of the beach since there is a giant sand mountain. (i'm sure there's another term for that but I can't think of it) sand dune? I'll stick with that. I ordered a bowl of the clam chowder and my girlfriend ordered the fish of the day with a salad. The menu did have plenty of deliciously descriptive food options but we weren't that hungry. We stopped by for a snack before heading back on the road aka back to reality. This place will be kept in mind for next time. read more

Food was good. Server excellent. However, the manager was wearing his mask under his nose. When we asked he said thanks for pointing it out and did nothing. The window to the kitchen let us see all the cooks without masks. The hostess wore her mask under her nose. And the owner came in walking around with no shoes and no mask. Anxiety for those of us being careful and they did nothing to make us feel comfortable. Shame because the food was good. Yes, I know what flip flops are, I was wearing them too. We love the beachcomber! The atmosphere is great and the servers are usually amazing. We love that we can bring our dog and sit in the sand enjoying tropical drinks. Our last visit was met with some issue. All the lights were out (which I understand isn't their fault but we were still eating in pitch black). The indoors had lights on, but even if we didn't have a dog the inside was packed. Our waitress was kind of in a mood, which happens. Everyone has bad days, but her mask was under her nose. Everyone else working was wearing their masks right so I was happy, but on the way back from the bathroom, the lady rolling EVERYONE'S silverware wasn't wearing a mask. At all. We won't be back until covid is over because we just don't feel safe, which is kind of a shame. Love the food and drinks though! read more

My boyfriend and I were visiting from Kentucky for the week on vacation, and found this restaurant. Overall, it was good food. Our dinner portion was huge and it was delicious. Our waitress was also very nice. The location was also great. It's right on the beach and they have indoor and outdoor seating with a deck/patio area. However, there was a man outside the restaurant (I'm not sure if he was affiliated with the restaurant itself or not), who directed the parking. He was extremely rude and was not a pleasant person at all. Personally, he is not the person I would hire to be greeting the guests when they arrive. read more

What a cute place right on the beach! They are located right at the edge of a dune, that obstructs most views of the ocean but, we were lucky to have been seated in the far corner and could see bits of the ocean, I must say those dunes are a big necessity for keeping the community safe from big storms! There is a sitting/play area on the sand off the very spacious deck where picnic tables are abundant. There is also seating inside the beachy, eclectically decorated bar area. We were seated immediately on a Friday night and watched as the staff easily accommodated 2 large groups after we were seated. They were able to take our order in a timely manner and deliver our fish dishes cooked to perfection also in a timely manner. The food is served on tin trays covered with parchment paper, giving a picnic type of feel to the meals. The staff took the groups and smaller tables all in stride and were able to stay cheery, helpful and on task. The staff were all very friendly and you get the feeling that everyone working here is a local. read more

Very cool ambiance just steps off the beach, with a bar inside and a few spots to take your drink outside. We went in for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon, and the food we had was very disappointing. They advertised chips and salsa as a special, it was a basket of chips with what tasted like very low grade jarred salsa. Peel and eat shrimp had that 'just defrosted from Publix taste' with very little seasoning. They had chicken tender platter, the tenders were those formed chicken things you get in the grocery store. Other items may be better, but my sense is they get away with the food because of the location! read more

I've been here at the beachcomber restaurant 5 times in the past year. I only go here because my niece who travels here likes the view. Worst service you'll ever have. You basically have to tell the server what to do. You'll have your food come out increments. 5 min apart. You will not get refills unless you ask at least 2 times. This was probably one of the chillest lunch breaks I've had in awhile. I knew I wanted to head to St Augustine Beach for some quick Beach Eats. So of course I opened up my trusty Yelp app and spun the wheel and bam Beachcomber popped up. Today was like there reopening and the place was packed. Just about standing room only well at bar at least. Maybe because it was Happy Hour. Got us right on in and was seated immediately. I ordered the Baha Fish Tacos and man were they on point. Probably some of the most fulfilling tacos I've ever had. Nice chunks of the grilled fish that was seasoned pretty well. But I think to top it off was my side order of Red Beans and Rice. OMG!!! I was scraping the bowl with a fork... almost reminded me of some Nawlins red beans and rice except it was Cajun but I would go back for that. Don't think I ve seen that as a side item with tacos but it was worth it. Topped it off with house wine. Staff was great and attentive and even one of the owners I'm assuming came and blessed us with her appearance to see how thing's were going. To top it off maybe 100 yards or so from the beach to walk all this goodness off. Give them a nice try. You would be pleased. read more

The menu looked great, and we were so excited to eat here! We got to Beachcombers at dinner time, and waited 30 minutes for a table for two outside. The gator tail appetizer with an orange marmalade dipping sauce was quite the pairing! We ordered our entrees, and about 5 minutes after ordering, we found out that the crab cakes had run out, which eliminated a few items on the menu. We went with a Brie burger- very messy, very tasty- and the blue crab ravioli. Both so good! However, when we got our food, we didn't have silverware. This was during dinner rush, so we were patient, as these things happen. Waitress took my cup for a refill and forgot about it. There were teenagers bussing tables, and I applaud their efforts to accommodate tables as we asked them for silverware and refills. Our waitress was sweet, but it seemed she was stretched a bit thin. With all the great reviews we heard from others, our small nuances had to be a one-off situation. Overall, we were pleased with the food and atmosphere. read more
