Base Pizzeria stands out because they hold a solid 5 STAR RATING!!! After getting the full experience, I now understand why. It's in a strip mall, so I wasnt thinking much as I walked into what turned out to be a pretty fancy dining room, especially for a pizza place. White linen tablecloths with crystal clear wine glasses ready for the filling. Some people know I'm a sucker for an Aussie accent, and they had me at Hello... literally... by the voice on the other end, when I called up to see if they were open on Christmas Eve. The same charming wonder from down under, led us to our table and offered up some recommendations. Breaking tradition, I ordered a Cooper's Pale Ale from the Motherland, or is it Fatherland? ...Underland??? Anyways, it was a perfect unfiltered beer with a refreshing taste, to this trail weary hiker. I went with the meaty pizza, while Yuko chose the Mediterranean. We made a secret pact to share slices... which turned out to only be one slice after she announced that her's was better. Okay, I guess I'll just hold the monopoly on pizzas with fennel seeds. The bottom line is: COME HERE! It's close to Camelback, and closer to Squaw Peak (Piestewa). Take a train, trolley, cab, Uber, Lyft, hang glider, pogo stick... whatever. Just come here. Loved their pizza, their decoration, and nice Australian owner. This place came up on Yelp search and didn't even know it was here although I drove by everytime I go hiking to the piestewa peak. This place is only 11 mins drive from the Camelback mountain, makes a perfect stop after hiking. As soon as I walked in, a nice lady with Australian accent welcomed me. I really like the decor of the restaurant, very inviting. I saw the wine list and really wanted to order a glass of wine. Their ambiance is perfect to enjoy a glass of wine or beer. If I didn't have to work later, I would definitely have ordered one. Perhaps next time.. I ordered the Mediterranean pizza. Pizza came with tomato, mushroom, artichoke, olives and Parmesan. All my favorite pizza ingredients. Their olives tasted like home made olives. Server spoke with Australian accent too but I think he was just playing along. Great service nonetheless. I liked the bathroom decoration too. Lot of thoughtfulness throughout. I can't wait to come back and try some other pizza and other dish on the menu (with a glass of wine). read more

I agree with all the other reviews - five stars! Seriously, as good as it gets! This restaurant was a nice relief when I walked up and found a cool, relaxing, friendly and yet classy pizza restaurant in the plaza of 32nd St and Lincoln. The service and the food equal out - impeccable! Hubby ordered a beer, we ordered the bruschetta, the meaty one pizza (gluten free) and the tiramisu. I liked the bruschetta. We haven't found a good gluten free pizza in a long time until the night we dined here. Although I did think the pizza was a little small, it was delicious and we wished we had more! For dessert, we ordered the tiramisu with the recommendation of an employee and when we received it, it was bigger than what we anticipated. It was delectable and I loved every bite. I highly recommend ordering the tiramisu if you visit. Since it was so big, we had leftovers and took it home. We ate it the next day and it was still just as good as the other night. Price is a little higher than other pizza joints around the valley, but I enjoyed the dining experience. Total of our bill: $53. I love local businesses it hurts to give them an A-OK rating. Service in the beginning was good when they were not swamp. We waited for the rest of the party to arrive and when they got busy, it was tough to get the attention. I had to ask for a refill several times. And with the first group of friends walked in, she forgot my order. I was trying to wave her down. So I figure I will just order with the 2nd wave of friends. I did and of course my order came out last. But we did place an order in for more pita bread for our humus. That took forever to get out. I believe it is the size of our group (14) plus the place was busy. The humus and pita bread was great! The base pizza with prosciutto was delicious. I've had many pizzas around the globe with a vast majority of them being at least good enough. In all fairness I would barely call what I had here pizza but rather more of a cheese bread appetizer. Because if I had to call it pizza and truly compare then this would be in the bottom 5% of pizzas I've ever had. It's a shame because it has all the makings of something that could be good but somehow is totally disjointed and left me wanting a real pizza... With that being said it is an awesome looking place with a great vibe and friendly staff. Excellent selection of pizza and salads. Chef special for the day (7/17/18) included a gyro -style pizza ; I enjoyed how the crust fit the pita bread theme for a pizza. While Base is located in a non-high traffic location (32nd St & Lincoln), it has a relatively fancy & social atmosphere. Staff was and continues to be friendly and very patient. Customer base fits the professional / adult crowd. Be sure to ask for their selection of infused oils. They add quite a kick. read more

Just had lunch for our first visit to Base Pizzeria. Both pizzas were great, the crust was thin with a great crunch. Their sauce is unique in that it is so fresh with a fresh tomato taste, not the taste of most pizza bases that taste like tomato paste. As we had read on their website about their date cake, we just had to try it. It comes hot in a skillet with a huge bowel of creamy vanilla ice cream. One portion is very generous and can be shared. We met one of the owner's, Daniel, who came over and w had a nice chat, very friendly and welcoming us. If you are anywhere near Base Pizzeria, give them a try! read more

Fresh ingredients! Super service! Quick to be seated for lunch! We ordered a pepperoni pizza it's The Roni, very delicious! Also asked ordered the Amalfi Salad with organic tomato, cucumber, red onion, kalamata olives, artichoke, aged balsamic, organic basil, & lemon vinaigrette. For dessert we ordered a very light cake. I can't say enough of how amazing the staff is, just in wow! Customer service is beyond amazing. From the moment you walk in to the moment you leave. So one day after a meeting, my subordinate and I scrambled to find a place for a quick lunch before heading to our next meeting. And we found this exciting little organic pizza place, Base Pizzeria. The heavens were with us that day, for it was Tuesday and the pizzas was 50% off. The pizzas are a pretty penny so the 50% off really came in handy. The restaurant was clean, and well kept, and the service was fast and friendly, probably due to us being the only ones there at that time. The pizza was absolutely amazing. We only got their base, pretty much a cheese pizza with some green things on it. We only wanted to test out the quality of the pizza and the best way to test is by ordering a plain cheese pizza. That way you can focus on the tomato sauce and the cheese. The tomato sauce on it was amazing and organic, you can really taste the flavour of tomatoes. And the cheese was strong and perfect. Overall a great pizza! Overall a great experience, we will definitely be back, only if it was a lot closer. read more

Finally the fates allowed and last week was my 1st taste of this often copied but never successfully executed pizza concept. All the other pizzas I have had like this had 1 major flaw. The center crust (midlle of the pie) was always soggy, didn't hold up well if you like toppings and forget about reheating to a crispy state...Base won 2 of these categories...really? Only 2? Why? 1. No part of this delicious homemade crust resembles anything you'd call soggy...as a result 2. The crust holds up extraordinarily well even with a lot of toppings! 3. Reheat well? You kidding me? Like there's a chance I would leave a morsel behind! May never get a chance to test that feature out ;-) Our server was amazing, funny and felt like an old friend. This is one of my favorite pizza places in ArizonaIt is my favorite pizza place in Phoenix If you like thin crust artesian type of pizzas then I would highly recommend to go and experience a variety of calming aromas stimulating small little happy goosebumps reactions to your taste buds with a delightful surprise including aftertaste when you leave there. You do not need a breath mint like you do after eating Mexican food. The lightly seasoned spices that are hard to define what they use individually, but definitely not overpowering, is the best flavor you've ever had. I'm guessing the spices are mixed into their dough. They have a variety of toppings that a lot of them you never see on a typical pizza place menu. Possibly a few of toppings you probably never heard of which are Greek. If you're familiar with food history Greece is credited for having the most variety of foods and spices. Also, the first in history to have written recipes. Especially awarded for the discovery of most spices that we use with many we've probably never heard of. An example of a common spice that grease is known to be the first to discover and use is Oregano. Some of the unusual toppings are in the vegan category. Such as: a special tomato, mushroom, Olive etc. I was told by a highly respected Neurologist that practices as a DO ( not MD which tends to prescribe synthetic type of prescriptions as an example) defined more into naturopathic medicine that the specialty vegan toppings I had told him about at this pizza place responded to me that he was impressed because those vegetables in particular really help stabilize our neurotransmitters having the essential amino acids needed for brain power. This also includes increasing your libido It would be a great place to have a date Plus there is a variety of red (marinara) green (pesto or special olive oils) and white (cheese or alfreda) sauces. The atmosphere whether indoors or outdoors is supreme. Indoors you have a tall ceiling & large open seating space with a variety of sections and chairstyles to choose from. Plus the perfect temperature inside to feel comfortable where you don't have a vent or fan constantly blowing on you not only making you cold but messing up your hair as well and by the time you're ready to put the food in your mouth it's cold. It has a modern hip clean new looking interior for a happy mood type of atmosphere including great tantalizing smells surrounding you! Even with high ceilings inside the building there is no echo. Somehow sounds are absorbed in the building even when it's real busy where you don't have to yell at the person in front of you sharing a table. Whoever designed the acoustics and the ventilation inside that restaurant should have an award if they already don't! I know it can't be Frank Lloyd wright since he has been long gone for a while. My favorite area at this pizza place is the outdoor seating located in front of the building. It has one of the best exceptional views of Squaw Peak (officially now Piestewa Peak or Phoenix mountains) that you get to stare at making it a very serene type of meditational relaxation experience while enjoying eating the best pizza you probably will ever experience at least in Phoenix Arizona. Omg. The pizza here is absolutely OUTSTANDING. I had the el Diablo and my mom had the smelly date and both were out of this world. We had a pear and rocket salad to start, as well, and it was delicious. The ingredients were so fresh and tasty (we're quarantined so we did take out) and we were so sad we didn't end up getting a third pizza for the two of us.
