Bao House is a very cute little spot, perfect for a quick lunch or on the go dinner. It had people coming and going the entire time, and the staff handled the fluctuation of visitors well, even when another customers kiddo started to take things off the wall. The food was a bit of a miss for me. The soup, while not terrible, had a lot of pepper, and the taste was overwhelming. I thought maybe it was just me, but my boyfriend agreed it ended up being the only note you could get from the broth. The bao was unfortunately forgettable, but not bad. My boyfriend got the cold shredded chicken and really enjoyed it, so it may have just been an off day and I would try it again with maybe a different order.

A late night spot for soup noodle and dumplings. The prices are also very reasonable. I particularly liked the spicy beef braised noodles. The flavours were rich, and comes with a reasonable amount of beef. I also got the pork potstickers and their pork and chive dumplings. Both were good, but I would try there's soup dumplings next time. Service was good as well. They offer you cute hair ties if needed. Overall, a casual spots for a quick meal that is also very affordable.

I have been here over 3 times with my family -- The Bao House in North York. Here's what I like: * Pan-fried mini soup dumplings with a crispy bottom and juicy filling, Must-try! Crispy on the outside, juicy inside. * Deep-fried tofu: Super crispy and packed with flavor. The sauce has a nice balance of sweetness and saltiness. * Steamed pork soup dumplings: Not the best I've had, but still pretty decent. * Affordable pricing: Most dishes are $10.99 or less -- great value for what you get. * Comfortable seating and decent lighting make it a pleasant dine-in spot. It's not mind-blowing, but solid enough for 4 stars. Check it out and let me know what you think!

**Bao House - A Hidden Gem for Delicious Dumplings and Noodles!** We had a fantastic dining experience at Bao House! The location itself is lovely, with stylish decor and comfortable seating. They have large round tables, which makes it great for accommodating bigger groups--we were a group of four, including two kids, and felt very comfortable. We spent about $80 and got a great variety of dishes. The **house noodles** were absolutely delicious--so flavorful that even my kids loved them! The **crispy tofu** was another standout, and we ended up using the leftover sauce as a dipping sauce for our dumplings (highly recommend doing this!). For dumplings, we ordered **two orders of boiled dumplings** (such a great value--you get a bunch for the price). We tried the **chicken and corn** and **chives**--both were excellent. We also got the **soup dumplings** and the **mini fried soup dumplings**, which my kids devoured. To finish, we had the **red bean steamed buns**, a perfect sweet treat to end the meal. I really liked how you order directly from your phone--it's super convenient because you can see exactly how much everything costs before placing your order. The **staff was really nice and attentive**, making sure we had everything we needed. Also want to add it's a kid and stroller friendly restaurant Overall, we had a fantastic experience and will definitely be back. **Highly recommend a visit!**

This was my first time visiting Bao House, and we ordered the braised beef noodles, mini pan-fried dumplings, xiao long bao, and deep-fried tofu. The deep-fried tofu and mini pan-fried dumplings were the stars of the meal absolutely addicting and so, so good! The tofu was perfectly crispy and paired with a delicious sweet-savory sauce. The xiao long bao was decent, but the skin was a little too thick for my liking. Unfortunately, the braised beef noodles were below average, and I wouldn't order them again. One nice touch is that they offer frozen dumplings for purchase, so you can enjoy them at home. The price point is pretty affordable, which is a plus. However, I wouldn't recommend Bao House if you're specifically looking for good xiao long bao there are better places for that. I'd probably return only for their fried tofu, as nothing else really stood out. That said, the employees were friendly, and the restaurant itself is very clean.

I was looking for an affordable spot in North York when I came across Bao House. I recognized the name from their downtown location and Instagram but had never actually tried it before. Given how pricey eating out in Toronto can be, I was hoping this would be a good find, and I'm happy to say it was! We ordered the Pork Pot Stickers, Steamed Pork Soup Dumplings, Spicy Braised Beef Soup Noodles, Spicy Deep Fried Tofu, and Chicken Corn Dumplings. The noodle soup and tofu were the clear highlights. The tofu, in particular, stood out. The sauce was a perfect mix of sweet, spicy, and savoury, while the tofu itself was crispy on the outside and tender inside. The noodle soup was also solid. I'm not usually a fan of Szechuan peppercorns, but aside from that, it was flavourful and generously portioned. One order could easily serve two people with leftovers. The dumplings, unfortunately, were less impressive. The pot stickers had a good texture, but the filling needed more seasoning. The soup dumplings seemed machine-made, and while they weren't bad, they weren't anything special either. The wrappers were thicker than expected and absorbed too much of the soup. One small hack we found was dipping the dumplings in the tofu sauce, which helped add more flavour! Service was great. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and they even offer bibs and aprons for those who tend to get splashy with their soup dumplings or noodle bowls, which was a nice touch. The biggest plus was the price. In a city where dinner for two can easily cost over $100 and still leave you hungry, this entire meal was under $40, and we had leftovers (which we boxed up but unfortunately forgot to take with us). To be fair, this was during the temporary HST relief period and before tip, but even outside of that, the value is hard to beat. While this isn't the best Chinese food in Toronto, it is tasty, satisfying, and incredibly affordable. If you're in the area and looking for a solid meal that won't break the bank, Bao House is worth a visit!

First time visit and the place decorated nicely and clean. The server is very polite and delighted. I ordered fried tofu , beef noodles, finger bun and sai lun bao. I like the tofu and the beef noodles the most. Tofu has slightly sweet and sour with slight spice and it is very well balanced. The soup in beef noodles is also tasty. Although this restaurant name as Bao as bun, their bun is average and sai lun bao does not have thin bun cover.

Bao House is your ultimate spot for authentic and flavorful buns, dumplings, noodles, casseroles, and more! A dining experience for an affordable price, just like their steamed pork soup dumplings with spicy sauce 6pcs for $5.99 only. The restaurant has spacious area which accommodates either just you or with friends. Love how these food were served fresh on the table.

Food 5/5 Service 4/5 Vibe 1/5 (would be higher but soooo many flies) This late night spot is prefect for people who are craving for a late night snack or a regular meal Food was delicious and service was fast. Everything cane out pipping hot, which I love! - some food are relatively more oily, like the fried buns, but thats how they make the buns crispy so i get it, i can just hear my Chinese stomach scream My only issue with this place is there are SOOOOO MANY FRUIT FLIESSSSSS not like they attack you or anything, but they are all over the food, the soy sauce / hot sauce bottles, and even in your face i just cant!!!! So im giving them a 3/5

Excellent spot for great Southern Chinese fare. The soup dumplings were my favourites, juicy oh soooo goood. Thin skins which I've always preferred. The braised pork bao were very good, lean pork, also thin skins. Ever so *slightly* skimpy on the filling. No fatty or gristly bits which is always a plus. It is EXTREMELY BUSY. If you plan to take out, call ahead. The restaurant itself is a bustling, busy place. Courteous front of house service. Prices reasonable. Clean.

I can't fault this place for anything. It's a relatively new restaurant, offering delicious and affordable food. It's one of the few Asian restaurants in the area that opens early, at 9 am, so you can satisfy your morning dumpling craving if you want. I particularly love their mini soup dumplings and would definitely go back for them again. The noodles are packed with flavour, and the staff warned us that they can be very spicy, so we opted for a milder option, which turned out to be perfect. We also tried their casserole, which was pretty good as well, though it's not a regular thick casserole you normally associate with, it's more brothy. It doesn't come with rice, so you'll have to order it on the side. The setting is casual, and the staff are helpful. I went during lunch on a weekday and it was easy to score seats.

Seeing the great reviews, we decided on takeout. We had the pan fried soup dumplings and regular soup dumplings. These were quite yummy! Great as a snack or for lunch. Would definitely come back to visit again for more!

We tried several of their noodle soups, and each one had its own charm. The house special noodles came loaded with toppings like beef tendon, brisket, wontons, offal, and squid balls, so every bite felt hearty and satisfying. The broth was especially comforting with the noodles. The wonton noodles were a little lighter, but still very good. The shrimp wontons were huge, with a nice crisp bite to the shrimp, and the whole bowl felt especially soothing after a late night. The offal noodles were also impressive, with a very generous portion of offal and a fragrant touch of garlic oil that brought everything together. The four-ball noodle soup is a great choice if you are not sure what to order, since you get to try fish balls, squid balls, beef tendon balls, and sliced fish all in one bowl. My favorite dish of the night was definitely the fried dumplings. They were crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, and soaked up that savory house sauce so well. Easily some of the best fried dumplings I've had. We also tried the chives and pork blood, which is a must-order for anyone who enjoys pork blood dishes. There was no unpleasant smell at all, and the seasoning with chives was just right. To drink, the iced lemon tea and lemonade were simple but refreshing, and paired perfectly with the meal. Overall, this is a place I would gladly come back to when I want something filling, flavorful, and affordable.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026
