We haven't visited this restaurant for a few years, after a bad dine-in experience where they forgot one of our dishes. Forgetting is human, but we did not appreciate the so-what attitude. When we asked them about the dish half way into our meal, we wanted to cancel and they said it would be ready in a few minutes. Of course we waited longer. Today we placed an ubereats pick up order. When we arrived at the restaurant to pick up 20 minutes later, they told us they had totally missed our order. They apologized without eye contact and began making the food. They only had 2 tables (4 diners) in the restaurant so the food came out in 15 minutes. The Shanghai noodles, savory soy bean soup, and sticky rice were all great. The potstickers were very oily and we only got less than half a container worth of green beans (which was way too salty). This is an underrated spot for xiao long bao, steamed & pan fried dumplings, and Shanghainese food! Came here with a large group of friends on a weekend afternoon, and there was plenty of seating available. Service was friendly, and we received our food fairly quickly. The xiao long bao (soup dumplings) satisfied our cravings, as did the pan fried dumplings and Shanghai style fried noodles. It may not be the best dumplings I've ever had, but for the price, we thought it was well worth it. I dined in here a few months ago and unfortunately the food was just okay with some hits and misses. The XLB was pretty good with an even and thin skin and well seasoned pork filling. The Dan Dan Noodles was the best item with a strong nuttiness and chewy noodles. The scallion pancake was flaky with a good amount of green onions but was very oily. The pan fried buns were undercooked and had a pale bottom and the meat filling wasn't tender. Definitely skip the salted soy milk.. it was borderline cold and missing the preserved veg and scallions and most importantly the signature curdling of the soy milk. Went here on a Monday morning for dinner with my parents. Great place for Shanghainese Chinese food (as far as I'm aware! Can't say much about authenticity etc). Location is at New Kennedy Square so parking was a bit busy but the actual restaurant wasn't too much. Restaurant a bit small and decor was decent. Nothing too eye-catching. Mirrors do make it look bigger in pictures than actual size. Was indoor dinging but had pretty good COVID protocols: masks on all staff, sanitizer readily available, and they even take your temperature. The food itself was good and there was a wide array of different stuff (you can see the menu below). We had C26 - twice cooked sliced pork fried rice cake, H16 - sweet sauted shredded beef tenderloin, and H28 - Prawn in thick sauce w diced pork and egg. Was not cheap but tasted good and good service. One of the pictures has sweet potato tempura and chicken that they kindly gave us on the house! Along with that there was some complimentary soup. For each of the items: C26: Tasted decent, came with some veggies. Only criticism I had was that there wasn't really that much pork that came with it. A good grain product to eat with the rest of the dishes but kind of average on its own. H16: tasty and crunchy. good texture and taste and the sauce that comes with it is pretty good. Not too much to comment as picture describes itself but I liked it! H28: Was really good, came with quite a few pieces of prawn and the pork was also really good as well. A bit spicy though if you're not a fan of that. Got their take-out this time around. They still do not sell their cold milk tea apparently, even though, its listed on their menu. Got 1x Siu Long Bao Crab Version (B01)-$10.75 Got 1x Siu Long Bao Pork (B02)- $8.25 Got 1x Pan-Fried Dumplings (B06)- $10.95 Because we ate this at home, the siu long bao didn't really have any juices and we didn't really notice any taste difference between the crab and regular pork version. The stand out was the pan fried dumpling which still had juices inside. I think these items are best to eat at the restaurant to ensure quality and freshness and taste. I ordered two take outs one day (during weekday), the lady who put our orders were very nice and sweet, she told us that it would take about 10 mins for the orders. Ok, we wait and wait... about 30 mins at last for getting our orders. we ordered one deep fried chicken with veggie rice, and one deep fried cutlet with veggie rice. It came out to me one box with veggie rice, one box with plain rice. the deep fried cutlet was so thin that I barely saw the pork inside. For deep fried chicken, it was slightly thicker but also too much coating outside the meat. I mean, we had been waiting for so long, and the food was not appealing nor tasty at all. Came here twice and don't think I'll come back for a 3rd. First time it was a larger party with almost 10 people. We ordered quite a lot. The braised pork (yuanti) was a special at that time but tbh it didn't taste that good, the meat was dry and drenched in sauce. We also ordered a wonton chicken which I think was ok, to slightly below average. Other dishes include soup dumpling, pan fried dumpling, pork chop with veggie rice (rather than plain rice), fried rice cake, sticky rice. Nothing really stands out. A bit let down that the veggie rice that comes with the pork chop, was not seasoned so it was quite bland and the pork chop was thin and dry. For fried rice cake they don't have those that has the soy sauce so it also feels like lacking something. Dessert include sesame dumplings and a pumpkin cake(?) the pumpkin one was pretty special and nice. Second time it was only my bf and I. We ordered a fried Shanghai noodles, a spicy red oil dumpling and a turnip pancake. The Shanghai noodles was ok, a bit oily and soft. For the red oil dumplings, it's not really spicy, and there are a few of them that you can tell isn't fresh (a bit sour?). And the turnip pancake was a joke. It finally came after two requests to check the order and when everything else was almost finished while it's supposed to be an appetizer. The anticipation that came with the long wait turned out to be a let down. For the first couple bites I was thinking if we had a wrong order because there was no sight of any turnip. Then when I finally spotted some, there were only a couple strands of rough turnip. So pathetic. I don't think the quality of the food matches the price. As for the service, their attitude is not bad just that they were smart enough to get what you want. Also, usually Chinese restaurants accept credit card if above $20, here is $30. read more

This is one of my to go to places when I crave Shanghai food when I'm working. Every time I come, I never leave feeling unsatisfied. I usually come on the weekdays (which isn't as busy) and the servers would promptly sit us down right away. We would get a menu and a pen to circle the food, and when we can for a server, they'd promptly come. Our server would confirm the food we order before punching into the system. The food came out pretty quickly overall with a few expections but it not complaining since I want my food cooked properly haha. My favorite dishes are their dumplings (esp the fried ones) and their Xiao Long Bao! Why they're my fav? Mainly because of the juice inside that just explodes with every bite. In such a busy plaza this restaurant did not disappoint when we opted to eat here for once. They sat us very quickly and came over right away when they knew we were ready to order. What we ordered: - beef brisket noodle soup - xiao long bao - chilli wontons Food Wow!! One of my favourite types of Chinese noodle dishes is beef brisket and that was by far the tastiest beef brisket noodle soup I've ever had (my partner agreed as he cleaned the bowl). The portion size is super generous for sharing between 2 people, they give a lot of beef brisket and I love the addition of pickled mustard greens. The broth was much more seasoned and hearty than usual BB noodle dishes, it was very addicting. The chilli wontons were very tasty as well but I wouldn't recommend mixing it completely like we did as the thick sauce coated the wonton too heavily and overpowered it, making it too salty. The XLB was classic, very tasty as well. Service and timing Service was great, they were attentive and quick. The server we had did not speak Cantonese which is no problem for us, just a heads up. The food came out rather quickly as well as the bill. It was no super busy when we came in but they were still quick to customers and didn't slack off in down times. Absolute worst service I've ever had in my life! I came here with my husband and daughter and they served 5 asian families that came after us before us. I didn't even notice as I was taking care of my daughter setting up her movie that each person even had items I ordered before them. This restaurant is the go-to spot for my family whenever we are craving Shanghai food! You could tell this place is pretty awesome because there's always a line in the Linh rush! We love the shaolong bao (小龍包) here and recently, we found that they introduced a wasabi twist to it. Basically, it is the usual filling with added wasabi inside--such a unique combination. I would encourage when you eat this wasabi shaolong bao to make sure you've got a tissue or a napkin handy because your sinuses, whether you have any or not, is going to clear up!! If you haven't had it before, you've got to try it!! All of their Shanghai dishes are made with such care. I was so hungry that I forgot to take a couple photos of the dishes, haha! We ordered a Chinese Ham fried rice that was super tasty, the flavour of the salty fish infused in the ham is incomparable. We also had stir-fry eggplant, which had just the perfect texture--I hate when eggplant is overcooked and becomes super lumpy but not here, it was soft but still firm. Their veggie dumpling was delicious; I love how there's also tofu in the filling, most places just have veggie and vermicelli. As well, their pan fried dumpling is super juicy--highly recommend! Dessert... where do I start to describe how AWESOME it is!! We had glutinous sesame ball (芝麻湯圓) dessert; a beautiful balance of chewiness with the sesame paste. We also got this traditional Shanghainese soup dessert, I don't remember the name of it but it was interestingly delicious too with rice, goji berries, rice cake, and rice in it. But, I must say, their best dessert is the red bean pancake. I am absolutely addicted to it but you've got to eat it hot!! Came here with a group of friends for lunch on a Sunday. At first we were going to another restaurant in this mall, however due to lack of space we decided to switch to another venue... So we are here. Opened the door, it was just before noon and there were a few tables. The owner sat us down quickly and we began deciding what we are gonna eat. Let's start off w/ the venue: This place has been here for more than a decade. I remembered I came here once. But with the rise of other Shang-hainese restaurants closer to where I live, I neglected this place. Back to the venue, decor can be a bit dated? And there's this smell of bleach that makes it awkward. Onto the food, we ordered a Taiwanese style stir fried rice noodle, a Zhejiang style braised pork ribs with dark vinegar and a fried beef tenderloin strips with honey, garlic and chilly sauce. The Taiwanese stir fried rice noodle came out piping hot and smelled great. It tasted alright too. But... it was quite oily. The ribs tasted really good, I love the dark vinegar... but again to oily. The fried beef tenderloin strips dish was very fresh, but somehow my friends and I thought there were too much batter and not enough meat. At the end, we let this dish sat too long and the honey hardened so it was hard to finish off the last few pieces. This was the only dish that didn't have a layer of oil at the bottom of the plate. The staff seemed alright, they looked after us adequately. So no comments there. However, wish they have better skill when it comes to cooking to reduce the oil. I go here roughly once a year and it seems that each time it keeps on getting worse. For Shanghai dim sum at least (such as pork in soup dumplings and Chinese scallion pancake beef roles) there are way better options both in terms of the quality of food you are getting and the price you are paying. The braised beef noodles are worth trying if you love noodles-in-soup however. The Bad: My dad and I ordered steamed pork-in-soup dumplings (shao long bao) and pan-fried pork-in-soup dumplings (sheng jian bao). For both, the quality of the pork that they used was extremely fatty (and therefore really cheap meat) and the buns themselves were really oily. The pork-in-soup dumplings had a decent amount of meat in them, but the pan-fried version had barely any (look at the upper joint of your pinky, probably about that much). I forgot to take a picture of the menu but they were about $1.25-$1.50 per piece (they come in 5s). The Good: I think the only thing worth ordering here is the braised beef noodle soup, which is excellent. I believe it was $12 or $13, but the noodles were hand-made and there were a decent amount. The soup was very flavorful and it seemed like there wasn't much, if any, MSG. The beef was very tender and there was a good amount in there. I've given this place so many chances, and I have to say that I will not be coming back. First of all, only a sliver of the food on the menu is good here. Out of the 100 or so things on the menu, I've only found 3 - the shanghai pork dumplings, the dandan noodles, and the pork potstickers - to be good (and they weren't even consistently good). That's 3%. Everything else I've tried here, including the main dishes, the dessert, appetizers, have been really lacking. That, plus like others have said, overpriced. Then, the service is sorely disappointing. This one time was particularly astounding. We ordered a dish, which they forgot to enter into the system. After 30 minutes, we ask where it is. A server goes to check, comes back out and says they forgot to enter it in, and asks us, "would you like the check?" We say no, we want it, bring it. Another 20 minutes go by. Nothing. We ask again. The same server comes back and says, "Oh I thought you said no you don't want it." That makes absolutely NO sense. First of all, we said we wanted it. Next, according to the logic of his own question, if you misheard, then you should have brought us the check. We say, "yes, we did want it." He goes away. At this point, an hour has gone by. We see the owner and ask what the heck is going on. The original server drops by again and defends his stupidity of hearing that we said "no" a second time. You must be freaking kidding me. All the while, no apology, no no comping, no nothing. They just keep on trying to defend themselves by saying what they heard and making it sound like it's our fault. Consistent. Always good. This is not food that is thrown together in a hurry. 1. My favorite LONG GREEN BEANS in TONS of garlic (soy sauce). Dry. Exquisite. Always have that when I go here; 2. Taofu-pi (or dried taofu) which had a smoked-tea/five-spice flavor in a hoisin-like dipping sauce. Very refined flavor. Very unique and definitely old-school. Yum; 3. Beef and lanzhou-style noodles in a spicy broth with green vegetable (bok choi). VERY nice except the meat was a bit too fatty for our taste. But otherwise, very good; 4. Pork and leek dumplings - skin was a bit thick and compared to everything else, this particular dish did not stand out. 5. Excellent, excellent service. This place is stellar when it comes to good table side service and the staff in this restaurant are always professional, polite and friendly; 6. Sooo off we went on our journey north to the land of Chinese strip malls and savoury scents. My Shanghai Dim Sum knowledge isn't the best. I call buns dumplings, and I blindly ordered just about everything aside from the hot and sour soup. I wasn't disappointed by any of it. I was especially happy with the orange and wine pork ribs and the Shanghai fried noodles. Deeelish. Yes, you're eating in a strip mall, so it isn't very fancy and you'll look pretty cruddy under the fluorescent lights... but who cares? DING DING DING! We have a new winner for the best soup filled dumplings in GTA. I actually ordered the soup filled dumplings again for "dessert" cause they were that good. Seriously, if you only order one thing here order the soup filled dumplings. I came in here looking for soup filled dumplings, that's pretty much it. I decided to give some of the other things a try, so we also ordered the drunken chicken, the pork and chive dumplings, chunky chill beef noodles and steamed pork buns. The drunken chicken came first and I have to tell you that I wish they actually spent some time making this. It seemed like they just poured alcohol on the chicken afterwards cause it tasted bitter afterwards because of the alcohol (yuk). The chunky beef noodles were pretty neat cause they used handmade noodles, but the broth was really bland and the beef was not at all tender. Too bad. As for the pork and chive dumplings, they were alright. The dough on them was really silky, but I found that they put way too much chive in there to my liking. I don't think there was much pork in there at all. As for the pork buns, they were about average. Now, what makes their soup dumplings so good? First of all, the dough is really thin, but not so thin that it falls apart when you pick them up. Second, the pork filling is probably the smoothest, tenderest filling I've ever had. They pretty much melt in your mouth. Third, there is no third, it's awesome just order it. In my opinion, I think this place is really only good for their dim sum or "appetizer" dishes. Every one of our entrees kinda sucked. I'd love to give this place more stars but I can't justify it on one dish. But then again, it's an amazing dish. We usually order their top 4 items: soup dumplings, fried dumplings, hot and sour soup, and shanghai noodles. The first three are all decent fare, but their shanghai noodles are just average - not enough meat, too much oil. Their portions are reasonably sized but priced just a bit higher than competitors in the area. We come here whenever we crave hot and sour soup, but only because it's the closest Shanghai restaurant to home. read more

Not bad. First time coming here, though I live only 5 min down the street. I usually go to Ding Tai Fong at First Markham for this kind of stuff but this time I wanted to try this place. It's not bad but I have tried better. The Siu Long Bao seemed to get stuck together so when you lift it up with your chopstick, you end up poking a hole in your dumpling and waste all the tasty juices that is suppose to be eaten with the dumpling. I give this place a 4 star because their service was extremely friendly and they do their best to make you as a customer feel welcome and wanted. They are also very polite and attentive and appreciate your business. There's something about this place that can make it great ... but im not too sure what it is. However, this weekend my dad and I decided to try something new and we visited 369 Shanghai Dim Sum at Peachtree Plaza for the first time! We managed to get seated right away, although the restaurant was nearing full capacity for lunch. Service was friendly and the menu was quite expansive. Between the two of us, we shared the xiao long bao (soup dumplings), wo tip (fried dumplings), and the glass noodle soup with fried tofu. While I still prefer the soup dumplings at Ding Tai Fung, their fried dumplings were amazing - just the right amount of crispiness on the outside and perfectly tasty and soupy on the inside. I came here for lunch this past Saturday and was looking forward to trying their soup dumplings. We got two orders of soup dumplings, one order of pork and shrimp dumplings, Chinese broccoli, boiled noodle with spicy peanut sauce, and sizzling beef tenderloin. The soup dumplings were small, but they tasted pretty good. We were hoping that the skin of the dumplings would be thinner and that there would be more juices inside, but unfortunately we didn't get that. The pork and shrimp dumplings were also good and tasted great with the Chinese broccoli side we ordered. It was our first time trying the boiled noodle with spicy peanut sauce and we thought it tasted interesting, but good. The broth had a milky consistency with peanut flavour and the noodles absorbed the flavours of the broth. The beef tenderloin came out very hot and sizzling on the stone plate. This was our favourite dish because the meat was very tender and the pepper sauce on the beef added a nice spicy kick. Overall, everything we ordered came out fresh and tasted good, and we also experienced great service from the servers. I don't think we'll be coming back for their soup dumplings, but definitely for their sizzling beef tenderloin! read more
