Big portions and cheap prices - this place is GREAT value. Most items are very shareable for two people and under or around $10 for a main. Even the silky tofu dessert was $3 (shareable among 2 people) which is insane value.

This place is such a blessing in the heart of downtown. They have other locations too which is great! Everything on their menu is under $10 and in today's economy I think that's such a deal. The service is welcoming and fast and the interior is also cozy. We ordered a lot of stuff and still spent less than $30 per person. Got the pork buns, pork soup dumplings, curry fish balls, crispy spicy pork, soup noodles and pork belly fried rice and everything was super delicious. The only dish that could have used a little more spice and seasoning was the crispy pork dish. My favourite were the curry fish balls and the soup dumplings. Both were delicious!

What a hidden gem! Food: 5/5 Everything was delicious and super cheap. What more can you ask for? Portion sizes were huge also, had leftovers for the next day. Service: 5/5 The server was very friendly. She also remembers you if you come often. She remembered my friend. You order on phone so no need to wait on server. Ambiance: 5/5 The inside was really clean and huge! I couldn't find anything wrong. So well deserved rating and I'd definitely return and recommend to others!

We chose this place because it had good reviews and the prices are very cheap. It's conveniently located near Eaton Centre and OCAD, so we decided to give it a try. The restaurant was pretty packed when we went, but the food came out very quickly. I suspect a lot of the dishes are pre-prepared and just heated up, but honestly, I'm not complaining given the price. Everything we tried was tasty -- the dumplings and noodles were juicy and flavorful, and the portions were satisfying. For the price point, it's a great value. I'd definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for a quick, affordable bite in the area, and I'll happily come back next time I visit OCAD.

Cold noodles, braised pork buns, and mango sago

During the recent heatwave, my friend recommended this spot for a bowl of mango sago, though she mentioned the buns here are also tasty. We came for early dinner around 3:30pm, and even so, there was a decent number of folks ordering to-go. The interior wall design has cute cartoons of the restaurant's namesake mama and her bun-shaped head next to Chinese and English quotes such as "爱心制造" ("Made with love") and "饭做好啦" ("The meal is prepared"). In the background, 90s Cantopop from artists like Alan Tam and Jacky Cheung can be heard. Basically it genuinely felt a lot like home. Up to that point I wasn't homesick, though the thought may have crept in a bit. As expected, the sago came out lickety-split and was a refreshing way to cool off. I ordered a bowl of Shan Xi Cold Noodles which had a chilled soy, vinegar, and sesame oil sauce with julienned cucumber and pieces of wheat gluten. While portion-wise it was kinda small, the flavors came together perfectly, and I'm drooling just thinking about it. Next we shared the braised pork buns, freshly steamed and oozing with juicy filling. Without a doubt another solid choice. Lastly, we ordered some grilled Squid Skewers and a plate of Deep Fried Rice Cakes with Brown Sugar Syrup, both of which were delightful snacks. To top it off, the food was decently priced and came out reasonably quick. What more could you ask for?

Walked by and saw it was crowded so decided to eat lunch here. Theres not a lot of seating but we only had to wait for a few minutes to be seated on a Friday afternoon. You scan the QR code on the table to see the menu and place your order. It is convenient to add items to your tab this way. Lots of variety on the menu and we ordered dishes to share. We tried the popcorn chicken, pork pan fried buns, chinese pork burger, squid skewers, pork intestines in garlic sauce, pan fried rice noodles with bean sprouts, and soy milk. Favorites were the pork pan fried buns and squid skewers! Really good prices and great way to try a lot of different dishes.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon, and while the restaurant was quite busy, we didn't have to wait long for a table; the service was fast and efficient. We ordered the braised pork buns, red bean pie, deep-fried rice cake with brown sugar syrup, and the beef pie. Everything was delicious, but the standout dish was definitely the braised pork pan-fried buns which was perfectly crisp on the outside and juicy inside. Service was friendly and quick throughout the meal. Overall, this spot is a great choice for a quick, affordable, and delicious meal in downtown. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic flavors and efficient service!

I happened up on this place based on yelp reviews. I wasn't sure what to think at first, it's a a clashing experience of self service and table service. I was greeted and seated at a table, then scanned the QR code to order. A couple of water was dropped off by one of the runners and I was asked if I wanted another beverage. Tables are not set; there are containers of chopsticks, spoons, and other accoutrement on each table. I was provided one napkin and needed to ask for more, which it seemed they were a bit hesitant to provide but noodle soup is a messy dish! I ordered the scallion pancake ($3), soup dumplings ($7), braised beef noodle soup ($10). It took about 12 or 15 minutes before food started arriving. The scallop pancake came first, then a few minutes later the dumplings and noodles arrived. All were piping hot. The scallion pancake was perfect, crispy and full of flavor. The soup dumplings were average, not bad, but nothing amazing and I thought they were a bit too sticky to pick up easily. I enjoyed the beef noodle soup, although I have forgotten how tricky it can be to eat those kinds of dishes neatly! There was plenty of beef in the dish and delicious homemade noodles. It wasn't too salty, which can be often the case. A server came through occasionally with a pitcher to fill up water cups, and another dropped off a check. I used the app to pay and was on my way.

Right along Dundas Street in the heart of downtown, this fast growing chain does not disappoint! No wait at all on a weekday evening, and they have a nice ordering system where you can scan the QR code on the table and order your meal and see the prices and photos (in Chinese and English). We ordered a soup noodle item each, and they are great value at $9.99, as it will leave you full on its own (or you can share!). I had the classic beef noodle soup, and it came with lots of variety of cuts with a lot of protein (ie. Beef tripe, sliced beef, beef/pork cutlet?). The soup was very light and not too salty, and paired well with the rest of the dish. The pan fried buns are the specialty, at 4 for $7.99 we tried the braised beef one. Very juicy and moist buns, as expected! Also had the honey garlic chicken wings, it came with 6 pieces and was okay. Not very meaty but satisfying if you're craving wings! The star would be the classic beef noodles, and would definitely be back to try the other dishes!

    A02 Pork Fried Buns
    Sabrina C.

Got a couple items to go for lunch. Service was fast and friendly. A02 pork pan fried bun and E8 Red Bean Pastry. The bun was not that warm, subsequently reflecting on a less flavourful experience. I had the red bean pastry after the buns, and it was still piping hot. It was tasty, not too sweet. The difference between A01 and A02: A01 has chives while A02 does not. Nice cozy spot for a quick meal.

Came here for lunch today. We were lucky to get the last table and then there was a small line up and a steady stream of customers after us. The restaurant itself was bright and cheerful. Also can't complain about the service. Even thought the restaurant was pretty busy, we were well taken care of. Now on to the food - it is reasonably priced and you will be full. I ordered the pork pan fried buns (best dish out of everything we ate). We also got the original noodles, popcorn chicken (both good) and pork and chive dumplings (average). I will return and try some of the other dishes on their menu.

Very clean. All table has sanitizers. All menus on resonable price. Haven't tried their dumplings or buns yet. Will be back for them soon. Had glass noodle mala style instestine soup. Extremely salty & had to add 1 cup of hot water. Intestine & noodle themseleves were very delicious though.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026
