    Stir fried noodle
    Rachel L.

This is our go to spot for dumplings over the past ten years. The place used to be more run down but they renovated. Food is consistent and some dishes better than others. The dumplings are always solid including the steamed and pan fry options. The hot and sour soup is also good. As well as the green onion pancake, cold noodle with sesame sauce, stir fry noodle, and garlic pork. Not a huge fan of the beef braised noodle - the soup wasn't good and bland. And the wonton seaweed soup also didn't have a lot of flavours to it. I came with a group of 7 people and came to around $25 per person after tips and tax. We all left very full and had a small box of take out with us.

It is a real hidden gem in Richmond Hill. This kind of restaurant is my favourite. It's not one of those "modern" Chinese restaurants, which look fancy but lack soul. This is not a new restaurant; it has been there for decades. How did I know this restaurant? By social media! The son of the founder sneakily filmed himself learning how to manage and run the restaurant for 100 days, in order to take over the restaurant from his father, so that his father can retire with peace of mind. Now, let's talk about the food. I am a total dumpling lover. Back in grad school, I literally ate dumplings for lunch every single day for three months, so I'd say I'm qualified to judge! I'm giving theirs a solid 9/10. The only reason it's not a 10 is that I'm saving that last point for their vegetable dumplings next time--it is extremely challenging to make veggie dumplings, in my humble opinion The atmosphere was lovely. It's not spacious, but they also didn't put too many seats in, either. The service was very friendly. I think it can be a perfect place to have a dinner gathering for family and friends

    Corn and crab soup

Had an absolutely delicious dinner and ordered the following: - wonton in hot and spicy sauce $7. Numerous tiny, thin skinned wontons in a sesame paste and chili oil sauce - Xiao long bao $8.99 for 6. Lots of fresh ginger scallion flavour - pan fried cabbage and pork dumplings $7.99 for 5. Classic as you would expect - steamed leek, shrimp, egg dumplings $9 for 10. Probably their weakest dumpling we tried with the least filling, but still tasty. I would like an all shrimp wonton option - steamed lamb dumplings $9 for 10. Extremely rich and flavourful - sticky rice roll $4.99. Super fresh, like they just rolled it and handed it to us. The fried dough inside was crispy and hot - small crab and corn soup $6.99. Sweet corn with imitation crab. Enough for 3 people There's an assortment of vinegars that I also enjoyed. Tea was loose leaf and fragrant. I appreciated the quality in these aspects as well. Seating is simple but clean/neat. We arrived just past 5pm and found service to be prompt with no issues of any kind. I enjoyed absolutely every aspect of our meal and will definitely be back! Instant favourite that reminded me of home cooking.

This was one of my favourite dim sum places. We haven't been in forever and have not been able to and noticed that Uber Eats could deliver! We ordered the green onion pancake, Xiao long bao, and wonton in sesame and spicy sauce. The wonton used to have more peanut flavour in the past. This was far too spicy and I like spice. Other than that the soup dumplings were just as I remember. Absolutely delicious. And so was the green onion pancake and fried rice. I miss this place and can't wait to go in person again.

Come here for the freshly made dumplings and comfort food - Chinese pancakes are good. Other dishes do not stand out. Food 5/5 for dumplings, 3/5 for other dishes Ambiance 1/5 - dated Service 2/5 - of the many times I have been here, there's not much service. I witnessed a bad argument between staff before. The tea is not good.

    Interior after renovation

This is our go-to place on weekend for its food with reasonable price, highly recommended. There was renovation last year, the interior looks fresh and stylish, but they didn't increase the price much. The food is very solid whatever we order and service is good too. We love the steamed pork bun and dumplings. Fried pan dumpling is so juicy and yummy too. All the dishes come with big volume and full of flavours. Give it a try and it will not disappoint you.

Their dumplings are excellent! We ordered: # Pan Fried Cabbage & Pork Dumplings # Boiled Leek&Pork Dumplings # Braised Beef Noodle Soup # Shrimp With Egg Fried Rice I recently realized that there are not many places that serve "boiled" homemade dumplings (not frozen). This place serves quality, fresh boiled dumplings - precious! and tasted soooo good and juicy. Pan fried dumplings are so juicy and tender inside, crispy on the bottom, with chewy & soft yet strong and flavorful wrappers. Perfectly done! XLB? Great as always. Beautifully hand pleated, good soup amount and flavorful meat. I liked Braised beef noodle soup but my partner said he felt that Chinese dry aromatics were a bit too intense in the soup. I disagreed :p It was good to me. The meat was super tender, but I felt it had too much fat. But my partner thought it was perfect. We disagreed :p But we agreed that they are good nonetheless. Haha. Fried rice was OK. Not as crispy as I wished. We will definitely come back again for their dumplings!!!!

Green beans and braised beef soup with noodles

Came here to enjoy some soup dumplings and try other things. The beans and braised beef noodle soup came out first and were both spicy (for me) but delicious! We ordered a bunch of soup dumplings, steamed dumplings and pan fried ones and all of them were really good. We also got a green onion pancake, which is by far my favorite one! The service was nice and quick. It wasn't too loud in there, just enough to be able to hear each other. It was super cozy.

    Drunken chicken
    Joy H.

This is a very no-frills restaurant with many small eats and comfort foods! We ordered the drunken chicken, fried pancake and smoked pork, steamed pickled cabbage dumplings, and steamed leek and pork dumplings. The drunken chicken was tasty and the chicken was still tender. This is a cold dish, in case you are unaware! I would caution against letting the chicken soak in the drunken broth for too long--it gets a bit too strong haha The dumplings are a pretty good price for restaurant dumplings! The leek and pork is a reliable classic, while the pickled cabbage one is not the best. I would pass on this location's pickled cabbage (they're awesome when you can find good ones). The fried pancake and smoked pork were flavourful and a great sharable! Overall, a great place to order a bunch of your fav (northern) Chinese comfort foods for a very reasonable price!

I normally give mediocre food the benefit of a doubt but I was a little disappointed with the quality of the food received. Staff were pleasant and efficient, maybe mediocre food affected by supply/food turnover issues caused by Covid restrictions, I do hope they get their act together soon now that restrictions have been lifted. Salty tofu soup bland and flavorless, no crunch to the very minimal pickled vegetables. maybe sitting in soup/kitchen for days. Same with the fried dough rice roll, pickled vegetables were hardly present, mushy and flavorless. Jellyfish dish was not bad, plentiful and crunchy although needed to add more vinegar to increase the flavor (maybe my own personal preference) Celery dumplings were ok, skin thin but dry, sitting around too long in the kitchen again maybe? Hit or miss, I hope they get their act together as way too many Chinese restaurants in Thornhill for customers to select from

it's a good little mom and pop shop serving asian comfort food. we stopped in for dinner craving some veggies. we ordered a tofu and vegetable dish. we also ordered soup dumplings, pork belly, and scallion pancake. everything came out super fast and fresh.

I've only been going here regularly about at least once a month for as long as I can remember, and have gone more frequently very often. Please don't share the fact that their dumplings are by far the best in the GTA; otherwise, I will have to line up (and I hate to wait). And from what I can taste and see, they don't cut corners with their ingredients.

The restaurant is small but quite clean inside. It looks like they recently renovated. The service wasn't as good as some of the other reviews suggested, but it was pretty much what you would expect from a typical Hong Kong café--very casual. We ordered the chicken with vegetables. There was a good variety of vegetables, and the portions were quite large. However, the plate was so small that it was difficult to get to the food underneath if it wasn't on top. I don't understand why they couldn't simply use a bigger plate, which seems like the easiest solution after a renovation. The prices weren't as good as we had anticipated. Maybe we just didn't order the right dishes. They also offer dish combos, but instead of letting you choose the dishes, they have set combinations to choose from, very limited choices.

The steamed fish was also delicious. I enjoyed the complementary dessert which included sweet red bean porridge, cookies, and jelly. For dim sum, definitely DO NOT purchase the rice noodle in supreme fish soup and mushroom. It tasted like water cooked with mushroom and had no taste or fish flavor and a waste of money. The mango sago wasn't that good either and only came with a tiny bit of ice cream. Dim sum was pretty crowded, so would recommend booking a table for large groups. I enjoyed the abalone and chicken congee as well as the mustard green, clam, and preserved egg congee. The abalone on the abalone su mai was a bit overcooked and chewy since it's been heated too long. I liked the chicken feet, beef tendons, and ribs. We ended up getting the ham macaroni soup with a cheese ham sandwich combo, along with the O Street signature beef sandwich and fries from their new menu. Despite how busy it was on a Saturday, the food came out at a pretty reasonable speed, which I appreciated. The macaroni soup was just okay, very much the kind of simple comfort food that fills you up, but nothing especially memorable. I was most excited for the signature beef sandwich, but it didn't fully meet my expectations. The burger/sandwich itself was smaller than I imagined, and it only had about 2-3 pieces of beef brisket inside with marinated bell peppers and their homemade sauce. The sauce leaned sweeter than expected, which might work for some people, but personally I was hoping for something more savoury and more generous with the beef. However, the brisket was tender, which was a win... ish. Overall, still a decent spot if you're craving classic HK cafe vibes and variety, especially for a casual meal with family.
