Things I've had: Garlic Crab Noodles (6 out of 5 stars, yes, it's that good) Garlic Butter Shrimp (6 out of 5 stars, the chinese donut put it over the top) Grilled Asian Eggplant (3 out of 5 stars, because I don't like peanut sauce or mint). May be other foods aren't as spectacular, but I would recommend having the crab noodles and butter shrimp for your 5-star experience! read more

A sudden change in plans found myself and two friends at Ba Bar. My friends opted to sit outside so we went out to the patio which had a plethora of heaters everywhere to keep toasty warm. It was a comfortable atmosphere - fun, vibrant, and quite colorful! I loved it! The service was very attentive in the beginning but as the restaurant became busier we saw less and less of our server. But you know, that's fine. The restaurant became especially busy packed to the walls and I could understand why we didn't see our server as much. She was great but stretched thin. Totally understand! I ordered the Nguyen Dynasty drink. My friends ordered duck and a tofu roll. Everyone enjoyed their drinks and food. The food came out quick. We came here on a wednesday evening for happy hour around 4 pm. The restaurant was not too packed, but still had a good amount of customers. The ambiance was good. The lighting was good for hangouts or dates where you actually want to see each other. They have lots of good seating and even have a quaint bar area and a back part good for hosting gatherings. In light of COVID they also set up a quaint outdoor seating area with lighting and warming lamps. The service was okay, a little on the slow side. The waitress was kind and seated us immediately. However, when we were ready to order the waiters were a bit scarce and it took about 10 minutes to get their attention. It may have been due to the party in the back which seemed to be bustling. They served the food relatively quickly, but never checked back on the food or if everything was okay. The food was good and bad. We ordered the crispy rolls x2 which came out hot with a side of fish sauce, pickled vegetables, noodles and lettuce. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty and the rolls were great! We also ordered the chicken wings which I was pretty excited for. They were a disappointment. While the flavor was okay (a bit fish saucy) the wings themselves were lukewarm. They appeared to be cooked in the middle, but were either left out or not appropriately reheated which made us a bit nervous. I hoped to ask the waitress to reheat it, but she never checked back with us. The drinks were good. I ordered an iced tea sweetened and my friend ordered the shrub soda both which tasted fresh and homemade. The price was reasonable for happy hour in Seattle. For all these items we paid about $42 with tax and tip. It's only a shame we paid for chicken we couldn't finish. Overall, good ambiance, cute restaurant, mediocre service and inconsistent food. I'd be willing to try them again as long as my wings don't come out rather lukewarm. They lose 1.5 stars for the wings and 0.5 stars for the poor service. read more

Came here on a whim! We were in the UVillage and wanted to come to a cafe where my husband could do some work. We happened to come during happy hour, but didn't end up getting anything off that menu. I like the space. The bar is very cool and I like the atmosphere. They don't really have a lot of options for hot drinks: just coffee and one type of tea (English breakfast) Hubby ordered an iced Vietnamese coffee. I ordered a latte with almond milk. I was sad they didn't have any flavoring for the lattes. It was chilly and rainy outside, so I was looking forward to a nice hot bowl of noodles. I ordered the chicken vermicelli bowl. The food was good, but not what I expected. Maybe this was my ignorance, but my noodles were cold, which is not what I was expecting. I think because they were cold, the toppings also go cool quick. I hate about 3/4 of it and took the rest home and heated it up there for lunch the next day. I think I would come back to try something new or even just for a quick bubble tea! We have been coming to this establishment for a few years and have been to all three locations (U Village, Capitol Hill & SLU). The food has always been consistently good, the prices reasonable and the service prompt and friendly. The first time we tried this place, we were amazed at how good the Phở tasted. Unlike many Vietnamese restaurants, this place made stock from scratch. Since then, we have tried pretty much everything on the menu and never been disappointed. Well, almost never. We were disappointed when the Bánh cuốn station disappeared and wish that they would bring this back. This most recent visit, we had Imperial Rolls, Saigon Singapore Noodles and Spicy Pork Belly flavored with lemongrass and chili, with broken rice and egg on top. All three were delicious! The Saigon Singapore Noddle tasted like authentic Singapore Noddles but with glass noodles. The pork belly, one of my favorites, was tender and smoky and the runny egg yolk brought me to cloud nine. The Freckled Dragon cocktail was good, but the pandan flavor was too subtle for my taste buds to detect. read more

Was bummed they didn't have the noodles for the Pho Ga Tron but found a yummy alternative dish on their menu! Decided that my Plan B could become my Plan A and that was the Bún Chả Cá Lã Vọng topped with Washington coast rockfish, an crispy imperial roll, cucumber, dill, roasted peanut, shrimp sauce, turmeric on a bed of vermicelli noodles. It was a fishy kind of day and we also had the Lemongrass Rockfish with a seared Washington Coast rockfish, lemongrass, turmeric, cabbage salad, on a bed of pandan rice and served with side tomato tamarind soup. Surprised by the low ratings here - it's kinda bougie, a little on the pricy side, but the wings were surprisingly delicious and their food, by and large, was quite nice. Nice take on upscale Vietnamese cuisine. Service was fine. I've gone around the city trying most of the places offering Korean-style wings, and I feel like these guys' Sài Gòn Chicken Wings could go toe to toe with the best. If you consider yourself a fan of this style of chicken wings, I think it's worth a trip! (not necessarily this location, as they have several other spots) Happy hour deal on Mondays and Tuesdays gets you a plate for $9 if you get it with a drink - which... given the price and size of their drinks, doesn't end up feeling like an exceptionally good deal, but it's not too bad. I recently dined at Ba Bar and it was excellent! The ambiance was warm and inviting, with traditional/modern Vietnamese decor that set the perfect backdrop for a delightful meal. The star of the show was the pho - rich aromatic broth simmered to perfection, with quality beef (not what you get at $10 pho spots) and fresh herbs that created a great balance of flavors. Our server told us they use "no gai" - most Viet restaurants don't do that because it's expensive, but it makes it much more authentic. We ordered the crispy rolls to start, they were delicious! Service was prompt and friendly, with staff eager to share their recommendations. I didn't get a drink this time, but the drink menu looked awesome, great seasonal cocktails. Went here with my BFF to celebrate her birthday. We shared their chicken wings appetizer which was SO GOOD that I want more, right now! We both got their combo vermicelli bowl and it was also spectacular! The meats and spring roll were so delicious and the sauce that they serve it with is just what it ought to be; tangy and sweet! I would not recommend this place to anyone with a severe peanut allergy because peanuts are served on a lot of the dishes and I know that some people have allergies that are so severe that just smelling them can put someone into anaphylactic shock (aka my mom lol). But, if you don't have any allergies, go here and at least get the chicken wings. Try them first thing when they open for hot, crispy food and immediate seating! When we arrived we were quickly greeted by the hostess and our service was prompt and good during our entire late afternoon meal on a Saturday. For food we ordered the imperial rolls (4/5 stars), Sai Gon Chicken wings (5/5), the Pho vegetarian (3/5), and the Pho Tai Nom (2/5). For so many places serving these types of dishes in the area, we were overall pretty disappointed with the food. The taste just wasn't there. I was a little hesitant to try this place because I'm pretty particular about Vietnamese food and thought it was just ok. I got the rockfish dish which came with rice and a slaw and a fish. I added a side of egg for additional charge. The portion was standard so it was definitely on the pricier side. The food was good but I can't justify the price tag. Great place for takeout! This has always been one of my favorite restaurants, with a great feel inside and quality Vietnamese food. Love their drinks and their pho is much higher quality than your usual pho places. This is upscale pho! Today I called in and got a takeout order, and wow did I realize how much I missed them! They did a beautiful job of packing the soup and noodles separately. I heated the broth when I got home and poured it over the noodle bowl and it was brilliant! The additional dishes we ordered were the Saigon Singapore Noodle: Prawn, chicken thigh, egg, mung bean noodle, bean sprout, green onion, garlic, lemongrass, cilantro, lime $18.50 and the Combo VERMICELLI NOODLES at $18.50. One thing I can say is they are very generous with the portion of protein which was greatly appreciated when we're sharing. SO YUMMY!!! LEFT THIS PLACE STUFFED LIKE A PIG. This place was recommended by a friend and I was a bit worried bc it wasn't rated as highly. Also when we walked in, it looked a bit like a pub so we weren't sure. But I got a whiff of some of the food and it smelled good so we decided to stay. Started with the Sau Gon Chicken Wings. The meat is tender and juicy and the breading has a delicate but ample crispy texture and is covered in a caramel sauce with a hint of rice vinegar and lightly coated with sesame seeds. Next we're the Imperial Rolls that were filled with ground country pork, prawns, mushrooms. Very tasty and the texture of the filling was so delicious. It came with some lettuce, mint, rice noodles and nuoc chom and when you wrap the roll with the lettuce, with the pickled carrot and radish strips and noodles, and dip it in the fish sauce, it's a perfect blend of sweet, tangy and savory. The main course was the Duck Supreme. It seemed a bit pricey at $21.50 but you do get three meaty portions with and leg and 2 breast meats that were very meaty. You can taste the 5 Spice which gives it a bit of Chinese flair but since it is roasted dry, the advantage is the fat melts and you are left with tasty, juicy duck pieces. My only company is tye the broken rice was a little dry. Also got the fresh lemonade which is well worth the $6 and the Shrub soda was a blend of coconut juicy with mango and it was more on the tangy side. My first Vietnamese experience! It happened to have been happy hour and the prices were on point! Obviously, due to covid there are changes to the environment. However, their outside patio is super cute! They even have fancy chandeliers in the pop-up tents that amp up the tent vibe! I'm deffff going back! Very nice outdoor seating. They have high chair and changing table in women restroom but that's about it for being kids friendly. Prawn cucumber pineapple salad was refreshing and yummy. The food here was okay, but not the best. The reason for the 2 stars is because upon arrival, we asked our server if they had a kids menu and he said no. Also, I ended up sharing pho with my daughter and asked for a few things to not be in it. I swear I heard him say, "that's weird" under his breath. I'm not sure if he ended up going to lunch, because we had a female server help us after and when our food came she asked if we wanted to get the kids anything off of the "kids menu." I also forgot to add that the prior server said they didn't have anything with boneless chicken, but our new server brought my friend's kids out a chicken and rice plate (boneless).
