Love the feel of the restaurant. It has a welcoming "small dining" or "family cafe" feel. The decor and feng shui of the restaurant is fitting for dining for families, just the friends or date day. The food is delicious! It says farm to table in the name and you can tell that it's fresh. There is a wait for the food but it's because they cook to order. This is not a place where you come to get your food fast. Waiting comes with great and fresh food. I had the oxtail breakfast and my husband had the fish and grits breakfast. Because we don't eat pork, we don't have the grits because they use bacon drippings in their grits. The menu has something for everyone: pescatarian, vegetarian, vegan and meat eaters. Today's service was a little slow with drink refills and condiments we needed but the server did tell us they were not only cooking for the restaurant but also a big event that was being catered off the premises. They also have a space that seems like it can be reserved for private or large party dining. I definitely will be back!!

Thoughtful fresh food and great service! I had a delicious (and beautiful) salad, empanadas (YUM) and was treated to some tasty cheesecake! Chef is involved with guests - very welcoming - but won't share the dressing recipe! :) I sat inside but the outside area is very inviting. Only tip: the restrooms really need an update / refresh

Went to Astor's Table for my birthday dinner and had a genuinely exceptional experience. The warmth and hospitality at this restaurant are a rare find. And the food is delicious too! If you're not sure what to try on the impressively diverse menu, the staff is great with recommendations.

I had seen Astor's Table somewhere on TV or social media. It was a video and I can't remember where I saw it. Anyway, we decided to stop here for dinner on our way home from Galveston. The service was excellent. The chef/owner came out and shook our hands and welcomed us home. That was a great touch. There is such a variety on their menu that it's hard to decide what to order. That includes their appetizers. We wish we lived closer so we could come back and try more dishes. Anyhow, we had the chicken empanada and the beef empanada as an appetizer. We got one of each that we split between myself and my husband. We could have ordered two each but we weren't sure of the size at the time. We ordered them to be baked rather than fried. They were delicious along with the chimichurri sauce. We preferred the beef, but the chicken was excellent too. We ordered the beef kebabs, which has a name on their menu that I can't remember at the moment along with their sweet yellow rice and veggies. What a presentation! You have to go look at the pictures. The kebab was hanging over the dish and we would slide off a chunk at a time as we ate. The yellow rice was slightly sweet and had raisins. My husband is a fussy eater, but he loved the rice! The meat was tender and cooked to perfection. We had to try the desserts because how often can you order the South African Trio of Desserts in a restaurant? The Milk Tart was slightly sweet and pleasant. The pudding (can't quite remember the name of it) was hard. They were out of the peppermint crisp so they offered us to sample a new Keylime pie they had. That was delicious! We were disappointed that the restaurant was not more busy because they have such a unique menu and the food was amazing. Will stop by there again on our way through the area. Warning: The Peri Peri Sauce is spicy!!

The first thing I'm going to mention backwards is that the Chef came around to each table. The food was different and delicious. The wings were crispy and flavorful. The French toast was ok but would've been better had the batter been a little sweeter. The grits were creamy and hit the right place for my palate. The server Travis gave gear suggestions and was always there when needed. An excellent quality for a server. The decor was classy and fit the theme of the restaurant.

The service was very quick and attentive from the moment we walked in. We chose to sit on the patio and I loved it! Even though it is so hot during the summer, it felt breezy under the patio and it was so nice to get fresh air. We ordered the african spicy fried chicken empanadas and one beef fried empanada. The fried chicken empanada was sooo good, the stuffing was flavorful and balanced nicely with the amount of crust. The crust itself was crispy and thin. I highly recommend these. I did not like the beef empanada as much because I felt like it was a little bit salty and there was less crust but it was still pretty good.

I chose this location for the day of my birthday...and I am so glad that I did. My first time experience was so fun, light, and welcoming. Parking was a breeze as they have a lot with ample parking. No valet needed!!! Yay!!! They have an indoor, outdoor and covered outdoor seating options. The DJ arrived and provided a music playlist that was catered to his audience. I noticed other patrons from various ethnic backgrounds which is always a good sign and plus! A lot of families and single couples were enjoying brunch time. The owner/chef came around to make sure everyone was doing great....he obliged me with a birthday tres leche piece of cake! Strangers sang happy birthday to me...:) I chose the peri peri breakfast plate and really enjoyed my wings. A highlight was the mystery mimosas and after the first one, they are a penny each!!! I am adventurous and love mystery...hence my addiction to the A&E channel..,I digress;). Having mimosa after mimosa surprises was a win!! I thoroughly enjoyed my day and I am planning my return. Next time I would like to try a dinner option.

I can't believe I have not left my review. This is the longest houston restaurant week menu I've ever seen! This place was packed to the max, the food presentation was amazing. I really love that one of the menu features which is an around the world theme, is presented with those country flags. I never seen anything like that before. Wasn't something that I ordered on this visit, but it definitely inspired me to return and explore the menu much more. Chef Casey is the BEST TO EVER DO IT. I admire his charismatic personality he makes time even when he's the most busy, this man makes time to introduce himself and greet each table. I never seen or felt so seen and valued, on going to a place on a whim. This makes me want to bring my entire family. Dining here feels like you're visiting your uncles home. It really feels like home. Oh yeah, and your girl STILL NEEDED SOME MILK with that heat that was delivered from that jollaf rice and fish I ordered. My table guest had the ox tails. I'm not an ox tail lady but trying theirs was magical... I'm talking tender, full of flavor, NO FAT, well not in the part I tasted. The gravy with the ox tails was nice and creamy just like you want it.... Not watery or to thick, it was perfection on the texture throughout. I look forward to returning here. Only flaw was the rice was a little under cooked for my guest and chef Casey repaired/replaced that with grace. I loved it here.

My friend wanted a place that had multi brunch options, and chose this place. We both came here for the first time on a Saturday AM. The reviews looked pretty solid, so I was sold. We made a resy for 10:45am, but upon arrival, we really didn't need one. Place was quiet at that time. But my the time we left, the crowd came. I like the easy decor with black art on the walls, wine rack display, and nice indoor outdoor seating. Food- was solid. I had the Spicy chicken empanada, and 2 pancakes. My friend ordered the Shrimp and grits and this was great. She gave me a good portion to try, and I would definitely order this next time. She also got a biscuit on the side. She had to ask a few times for butter and jelly, but she eventually go it. Service - was pretty solid. I love that Chef Casey came out to the floor, and greeted each guest. He stopped at our table and chatted us up. He encouraged us to return back for dinner. He had a kind, welcoming spirit. They also have a bar in the back, for just drinks. There are wine racks everywhere, and I think a wine club? I wonder if they had a happy hour... If in the area, would definitely come back to support this black chef restaurant/businesses.

Oh my freaking God! This place is a MUST to try. From the moment we stepped into Astor's Table, we knew we were in for something special. This restaurant strikes the perfect balance between refined fine dining and a warm, welcoming neighborhood spot. The dishes were nothing short of spectacular! Every course was a delight, from rich, savory entrées to fresh, thoughtfully composed sides. Our waitress elevated the experience even further. Her service was attentive and efficient -- we never waited long for drinks or food. The ambiance at Astor's Table is equally impressive. We came on Sunday so they had a live music while we ate! Can't ask for anything else for a good Sunday brunch! Overall, I can't recommend Astor's Table enough. Whether you're looking for a memorable brunch, an intimate date night, or just an exceptional meal with friends or family, this place delivers on every level. Yesterday, my husband and I visited Astor's Table for the first time. We decided to try it based on the yelp reviews and extensive menu options. Ambiance: So the ambiance... is interesting. It's giving like "upscale, wine / piano bar" but at the same time "comfy & established Mom and Pop." That's the best way I can describe it. It's not a bad vibe but the decor does clash a little. You can tell that with the prices, black table cloths & cloth napkins the aspiration is fine dining but the decor and setup just slightly clash with that. Based on the reviews I just didn't gather that. Experience: We were promptly greeted by a hostess and sat down for lunch. Our server Jade was very friendly and knowledgeable. The Chef also came out & asked if we had any questions and made recommendations. (It was during lunch so there were only a few tables seated.) **Food: We ultimately ordered the oxtails, one with jollof rice and sweet plantains & the other with mac & cheese, (around $35 each.) Our meal was hot, fresh, and quick. I'm not a huge fan of oxtails, but my husband said this was his second favorite oxtails EVER. They were extremely tender, falling off the bone, well seasoned, great portion size, and the Mac n cheese was delicious. It wasn't baked and it wasn't extremely cheesy, which I loved & still very flavorful. 9/10. The only two things that we didn't like was that our water was served without ice and the jollof Rice just wasn't what we were used to. It was flavorful, spicy, and seasoned, but I don't know what kind of rice it was. It seemed to be some other sort of grain that was smaller and a little harder but it wasn't bad. It is a South African restaurant and I've never had South African Jollof Rice but it just wasn't our favorite. 7/10 on the rice. 9/10 on the sweet plantains & oxtails. Other than that, they have a very extensive menu, a beautiful outdoor patio for seating, the staff was very nice and the restaurant seemed to be very clean. They offer a full bar with a great mimosa deal and the Chef seems very involved. Closing Remarks: While I believe these other reviews are their honest experience, you can tell that the chef is extremely involved in his business. Meaning, if you have any issues, he seems extremely willing to accommodate. If we would've asked for ice, he would've given us ice. You can tell that he wants his business to thrive & to provide great service. I don't get that from many restaurants these days. So when you do try it, if there's something you don't like, I'd definitely speak to him. That's my two cents. *Overall 9/10. My husband says we'll be back!

Astor Farm to Table not only has great food, but a very nice ambience inside the restaurant. My wife had their lamb curry dish & I had their churrasco steak. Both entrees were very delicious. So my cousin and I have been here quite a few times and it's honestly a crime that I'm not writing my review until now. The first few times we came for brunch and although we like to try different places, this is the only restaurant we have returned to (mostly so we could work our way through the very diverse menu). Brunch has always been fantastic, with delicious penny Bellinis or mimosas. You really can't go wrong with any of the dishes but you must try the waffle with the pear (I think?) sugar glaze! I'm so used to syrup or an over load of fruit, and this simple and sweet waffle is just so lovely to add to any savory breakfast. There's a variety of Benedict's and my salmon Benedict came with a cauliflower mash that very creamy and buttery. This was not a pairing I was familiar with, but will excitedly eat again. We just had lunch today and were served promptly and by our very friendly and knowledgeable waiter Brett. Definitely recommend trying the South African wines as well! We ordered the beef and chicken empanadas and they are also a must try!! The pastry is crisp and flaky, and the insides were perfectly cooked. Seriously could eat a whole meal of just these. The Gugulethu (really trying with the spelling) was so fun to get because of the presentation and went well with the thick fries. You'd think I was done, but having loved the mint cake we had for dessert on one of our brunch days, we ended with the chocolate temptations cake and I have no idea what is the top layer, but again, another awesome flavor combination. If you've gotten this far, just go. Be adventurous and trust that this chef and his staff truly know what they are doing. read more

I tried this restaurant for brunch a couple of weeks back & it was awesome. The ambiance is great, lots of beautiful art on the walls. I came early to get ahead of the crowd. The menu is very extensive and I had a hard time trying to decide what I wanted. I ended up going with the nutella pancakes and they were delicious. I also tried the spicy chicken samoas, an appetizer suggested by my fabulous server Taylor. They were very good, not too spicy and just enough kick to them. And last & most definitely not least, had the penny mystery bottomless mimosas. I can't remember all the flavors that I had but they were all so good, but I do know that the green one was my favorite. The owner came out to see how I was enjoying the establishment, which was very nice. Great food, great service and it's black owned :) I will definitely be back soon!! read more

The food there is outstanding! So fresh, a bit pricey, but SO worth it! The Owner/Chef Cassey took the time and came to our table to answer questions for some of my family members who have special nutritional needs. Our server was very patient with us, attentive and wonderful. All the staff was friendly and made you feel welcomed. Definitely lots of choices for a variety of tastes and very flavourful. Come for breakfast today. Food was not great. Order the pork chop and it come with no sauce, salad with half small cup of dressing. My husband order egg Benedict, the potatoes is old, cold and chewy. Moreover, the menu state 18$ but the bill come 20$. They should fix the menu correctly before charging the customer without telling. Bad experienced. read more

My friends and I were excited to try out this restaurant for brunch last weekend as new home-owners and Katy folks. Coming from downtown Houston, we were happy there was not a wait but when were seated, it took over ten minutes to get our water and iced teas. Apparently they ran out of freshly brewed tea but never told us or gave us the opportunity to order something different. Another 15-18 minutes went by, we finally had to ask the manager if someone was going to take our order. He went to retrieve our waiter and apologized. Although our waiter was a young, kind kid, he was not forthcoming with opinions on the restaurants popular dishes. We even asked what his personal recommendations included (we wanted to order something extra delicious!) but he could not answer and just shrugged his shoulders. After seeing his confusion, we each ordered something a little different. We ordered the Plato Bandera as an appetizer (which came out with all of our food), the Healthy Omelette and a couple of brunch dishes. The food took a while to prepare, was lukewarm by the time it arrived at our table, which was the only time our drinks were refilled, to be honest, I do not care to share anymore details. If you look at my previous ratings and reviews, you can see my husband and I love trying new restaurants and give great reviews. But this experience was pretty bad. We were extremely embarrassed to be sharing this experience with our friends and unless there is a huge turnaround, I do not see us returning anytime soon. read more

Went during lunch and the food took forever. Service was ok, but waiting over an hour for a grilled chicken breast and french fries is ridiculous. The food was just ok. Nothing special. Just a grilled chicken breast and french fries. The plate decoration of ketchup was a little odd. Edit: And to the owner that just responded, I came on my lunch hour, alone and was late getting back to work. I see you respond to Google reviews & always make excuses. Which is fine, but it doesn't change facts. You should listen to your customers & fix the long wait times instead of accusing them of lying and making excuses for poor service & below average, overpriced food. Pray for yourself! read more

This little unassuming gem is full of surprises! It's a corner restaurant in a shopping center with a gym and various other places, if you weren't looking for it you'd miss it. I was there as soon as the open light came on. I entered into a colorful and vibrantly decorated restaurant with R and B easy listening music floating around, old episodes of Friends playing on the tv above the bar as the waiters prepped and busied themselves for the day's customers. I was greeted and sat at a corner table with views of the street and patio. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that there were still table cloths, cloth napkins, and real cutlery in this post pandemic world!! I ordered the KatyZuelan breakfast. This delicious plate featured black beans, scrambled eggs with tomatoes and onions, stewed shredded beef, shredded cheese, and an arepa (looks like a pupusa but actually it's more like a thick tortilla)! The portions are large too, check out the pic! Food came out quick and delicious. I asked about a drink menu and found out that they offer something called "penny mimosas"!! So you pay for an up-charged mimosa, $13, and then your next 5 mimosas are a penny each! If that wasn't deal enough they have a "mystery penny mimosa" where the waiter will randomly select a flavored mimosa for you and/or combine flavors when your glass is empty. I was able to try the strawberry, mango, and pomegranate berry mimosas. The next surprise was the most charming, muscular, tiny, charismatic African owner with the best smile and laugh. He came over to introduce himself, I told him it was first time and his penny mimosa deal was genius! Pop in for breakfast, I wanna try their dinner and wine pairings, if dinner service is anything like breakfast you won't be disappointed! read more

First time trying this place out on a recommendation and I have to say we may have found our favorite brunch spot in Katy. It's a tad small with about 10 tables inside and a handful outside, but the modest setting with awesome staff makes for an incredible experience. The brunch menu was a great mix for large appetites and small bites. We tried a couple items and they were amazing. The price is reasonable and Kasey, the owner, welcomed us with open arms. Rich was an awesome waiter/bar tender. Mason jar Bloody Mary- my wife described this as the best bloody she ever had. Mimosa- amazing deal! First mimosa is $12, but the following 6 are only $0.01.... that's right, a penny! Rich was great at always finding when my drink was almost out, and quickly came to refill. Beef Arepa- great small/medium bite. Had great flavor and the portion was pretty solid for one serving/ arepa. The Chimichuri sauce that complimented it was superb. Cowboy meat omelet- my wife and I had to split it. Great helping of protein full of bacon, sausage, and ham that fills it. Would satisfy any omelette lover. Essentially the food was great. We drove from East Houston to Katy to visit this restaurant, and it was sooo worth it! From the moment we walked in, the customer service was perfect - from the host, to our waitress, Evelyn, to the amazing Chef Casey. They took such good care of us and provided wonderful recommendations. We wanted to try the oxtail, but they had run out because apparently it's the best oxtail in the country and I believe them, lol. We ended up having beef empanadas (one fried and one baked), the peri peri wings, and the fried fish for lunch, and everything was cooked to perfection. I have been going to this place since day one when it was a tiny café until recently they have expanded to a larger restaurant area and they have several seats available however they are extremely understaffed the wait is 45 minutes to get in and then after that you can wait up to 2 1/2 hours just to get your food only on the weekends. During the week seems the best time to go because there's no one there and you'll get your food promptly. I gave them three stars because they are unbalanced they don't have any staff to serve the amount of people that frequent the restaurant read more

This place is a hidden gem off Mason Rd, nondescript and hiding in a shopping strip. The Chef/Owner is Angolan/South African and his business partner/wife is Argentinian. They've been able to translate their cultures into a menu influenced by both, while remaining accessible and relatable to the local Texas layman like myself. I looked forward to trying your restaurant today. Instead I left annoyed and disappointed. I entered at around 1:35, seated, asked if anyone was joining me, then ignored until close to 1:50 or so. No acknowledgement, no offer of something to drink. I tried to make eye contact with numerous servers. A server eventually came up to me and asked if anyone helped. She was genuine and disarming, but I wasn't going to enjoy my food at that point. I left and drove another 20 minutes to another restaurant. I'm very hard to please when it comes to food and my husband is very hard to please when it comes to Cabernets. This suburban chef owned restaurant is a must try for all foodies and wine enthusiasts. Stephanie was our server and was very inviting and knowledgeable of not only the food, and also had a great recommendations for South African Cabernets. I could have had a side of mashed potatoes or asparagus, but I decided to treat myself and try the mac-n-cheese instead. Half of that food was my lunch the next day, so I left enough room for dessert, where my choice was the apple pie bread pudding with cinnamon roll ice cream. That was nice and moist and I enjoyed it. My only complaint was that the glasses for water were a little dirty and the water bottle came out with some stuff floating in it. But not a big deal. If you want a good brunch, then head over here. You won't be disappointed.

Since it was Mother's Day, there were more tables than usual making the dining space tight and hard to maneuver for the guests and staff. Danny quickly took our drink orders and then our food orders. They had a special menu for Mother's Day, and still offered their full menu as well. We opted for the chargrilled oysters and deviled eggs with shrimp for appetizers, scallops, ettoufe , and asparagus with jumbo lump crab for entrees. All the food was still the excellent quality provided on many of my visits. Half way through the meal and prior to our entrees coming, a party of 8 arrived and I asked if we could move to a vacant table along the back windows to give the group more space and the staff graciously accommodated us and helped us move. Great service, excellent food and drinks.

I recently discovered this gem of a restaurant in Katy, and I must say, the glowing reviews were absolutely justified. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was top-notch. Our orders arrived promptly, and to my delight, the owner/chef took the time to personally greet each and every customer. To start off our culinary adventure, I tried the chicken empanada, and it was a true delight. The chicken was bursting with flavor, encased in a wonderfully crispy empanada shell. The accompanying sauce was a delightful complement that elevated the dish even further. Next up was the calamari, and I was thoroughly impressed. The calamari was perfectly fried in a delicious batter that left me craving more. And here's the kicker - they offer 1 cent mimosas for up to 6 drinks after your first purchase! What a fantastic deal. For the main course, I opted for the curry lamb, and let me tell you, it was a revelation. The dish was a symphony of flavors, with tender lamb bathed in a curry gravy that struck the perfect balance between spiciness and curry goodness. The seasoned rice served alongside was the ideal accompaniment. My girlfriend went for the oxtails, and they did not disappoint. The oxtails were wonderfully tender and packed with flavor. Holly sh!t! This dude is unbelievable. Read the honest review of parents complaining about their kids being injured at Astor Farm to Table and then the reply by the owner. It is as if this punk lives on another planet. When a mother complains about her child being hit in the eye by an umbrella that was not properly secured Casey comes out and calls her a "Karen"! Im sorry. This guy is unhinged. If this was us and our kids were injured and Casey lipped of like he did Yelp would have been the least of his concern. Looking at his behavior to everybody who dares to leave a single negative comment. We cant help but wonder how much workplace bullying is going on in the kitchen. Astor Farm to Table staff. Is what we seeing in Yelp a representation of what the working environment is like with Casey as your boss? I bet it is! So, Casey, let it rip you d!ck. Lets hear what else comes out of your mouth. To those parents who's kids were injured. We are truly sorry and hope they feel better soon. Not telling you what to do but we would have consulted with legal council. For a local restaurant owner to behave like this and we keep on supporting him is staggering. He keep on creating fake accounts and 5 staring himself. Funny if it was not tragic. Had an amazing time at this African-Latin themed brunch spot! The vibe was lively and fun, with a great DJ that kept the energy up all afternoon. There was plenty of seating and parking, which made things super easy from the start. The service was friendly and welcoming, and we especially loved the mystery mimosa and the penny refills were such a fun twist! The Astor breakfast plate was absolutely delicious, easily one of the best I've had in a while and very cost-effective. We were there to celebrate my friend's birthday, and it was the perfect spot for a fun and festive get-together. Highly recommend for brunch lovers looking for something with flavor and flair! We have been coming here about once a month in 2020. The food is always prepared fresh to order, and has Latin American and African tones. There is a wonderful wine list with many South African vintages. They recently moved a few hundred yards to a much larger property, still on South Mason Road. More tables means less of a wait, and the owner (a very hands-on person) is making sure that the quality of food and level of service do not decline. Some of our favorite dishes are arepas and any of the meat dishes. The pasta is also fresh and tasty. Whether for an intimate brunch or dinner for two, or a larger gathering, we recommend Astor Farm-to-Table very highly. read more

Absolutely a hidden gem on the corner of Mason and Highland Knolls. Drawn to this restaurant for Houston's restaurant week, we were truly amazed by the food and beverages served to us by a fabulous server named Nicole. She personally made us mystery mimosas that were the most amazing concoctions of colorful champagne cocktails we've ever had. The hanging kabob was fabulous and the chicken must have marinated for days, it was so juicy.. The outdoor patio was cooled with fans and a great misting system. The owner, Casey, has put a lot of care and attention into this restaurant. Rename table 12 to the " Steph and Mel" table because we will be back!! read more

Astor's Table is our go-to brunch spot in Katy! The vibe is always on point--chill, and welcoming. I've tried several dishes, and everything has been delicious, but I keep coming back for the Shrimp & Grits and Chicken & Waffles. Both are equally amazing--rich, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. And let's not forget the Mystery Mimosas--they're the icing on the cake and add a fun twist to the brunch experience.
