We really enjoyed this place for brunch this past Sunday. The patio setting was great and the food was delicious. They were pretty steady, inside & out. Like seeing that. We liked how the owner/chef, Casey came out several times to interact with his patrons and was very involved in making sure that everything was as it should be. He is very charismatic and I am sure that has a lot to do with the success of the restaurant. Their penny mimosas are a must, just make sure that you have a DD(Designated Driver) or a way to get home safe. They had a choice of strawberry, cranberry, orange, passion fruit, peach mimosas. They were out of pineapple & mango, our favorites. We had the baked, beef empanadas as an appetizer, they were really good(not pictured). The reason I am giving it 4 stars is for two reasons. The first one because the bestie & I ordered the same thing, the Argentinian Churrasco & Egg Breakfast. Her steak was thick & beautifully cooked. We ordered the Argentina and Venezuela sampler, Argentinian meat lover plate (lots of delicious meat - sausage, skirt steak, plantains), New Astor flames braai, and the South African trio of desserts. All were delicious and served appropriately. You can eat indoors or on their open or enclosed patio (if raining). Mannnnn where do I begin?!? This place is a hidden gem! The establishment is so cute and cozy; we sat outside since it's was so beautiful and had a nice breeze. All the staff members were sure sweet, our waiter was Cam; baby his mama did a good job with him! This was probably THEEE BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE I've ever experienced in Houston. We went for my birthday, 4 of us and it was FABULOUS!!! I My sister and I got the got the mystery mimosas and it was super fun, fun to try to figure out the tastes. The atmosphere was easy, could wear shorts or dress up, it's casual elegant and fun. The waitstaff acted like we were the only table, always attentive, there at the instant. The food was delicious and we had apps, full meals and desserts. For me - some had some odd flavors, yet it was fun to try, and seemed really good if that's you style. My husband and I went in for breakfast Saturday morning. It was just a film. Feel Good spot right when we walked in. It was clean not loud. The atmosphere was warm and chic. We were greeted with in 30 seconds by our server Evelyn and the chef and owner Casey. Super nice and friendly people. We both got to regular coffee's. The coffee was so good. We ended up having three or 4 cups each which is way more than we usually would drink. My husband was even wondering if they sold a bag of coffee grinds or beans for us to take home. My husband got the pancake breakfast and I got the eggs Benedict. We both really enjoyed both dishes. Mine came with the season potatoes and it was a big portion. We will definitely go back. I had been looking forward to celebrating my friend's bachelorette brunch here. This restaurant had been on my list to visit for a while because the food looked delicious and it is a local restaurant. However, I am just so disappointed with my experience. First, we were offered still or sparkling water (no mention of tap/regular). We said REGULAR water regardless, but the waitress, Nicole, did not take our order correctly. She ended up giving us still water, which we did not realize till after the fact and ended up paying $42 for water! After the food arrived, the chef came out to welcome us and see if we had any questions. He even called out the waitress himself! Said she was still there because of seniority, not because of her great service (quoting him "she was even late for more than 4 hours for her shift before"). Which we should've have paid attention to at the time, because we only saw her twice after we received our food. The other waiters also didn't come to check on us often either. We had to flag another waiter to get our check, and even then she still didn't come back. We had a group of 11 so they included gratuity with the bill, it was 24%, which is much higher than other places. I would've been totally fine with that percentage if we had better service, but we did NOT and still had to pay such a high price for bad service. In the end, the poor service will deter me from returning. read more

After reviewing places to see where I should go in the Katy area on a dinner date, I decided to come here after looking at the reviews and seeing it so highly rated. It did not meet expectations at all. This is purely a review of the dinner experience, I would think the brunch or other dining times are much better since thats what the reviews I saw are talking about. I always like to start off talking about the service. The initial service in general was a pleasent experience. I appreciated our server making sure we were taken care of in the beginning and we were all settled in. However, after we got our food, the service went from "great" to just plainly "too much". Let me preface by saying that the restaurant was basically empty except for 2 other tables, so i understand why they had so much time on their hands, but interrupting our conversation every 5-10 minutes does not create a very great experience. Now lets head to the food. We got the appetizer platter with a mix of south african and latin foods. This, we quite enjoyed. The empanadas looked and were delicious. The south african dried meat and sausage were good snacking foods to have during our time there. All in all though, there wasn't anything to write home out, the food was... basic and there were no flavours that really stood out. For the entree portion, we ordered the seafood platter which came with shrimp, prawns, mussels, calamari, bacon wrapped scallops, and zucchini with some rice. Let me start out by saying, why would anyone wrap such a soft peace of flesh like scallop in bacon. That is a disservice to the scallop. The scallops were very overcooked and chewy, and was not helped by the fact that the bacon was also chewy and salty. The shrimp was overcooked and also heavily salted for some reason. The prawns were by far the best thing on this plate, they were juicy and had a lot of flavor but even these were too salty. The calamari was ok but looked way too much like onion rings, and the mussels were good. The rice was the south african yellow rice with raisins. Rice was way too dry and a tad too sweet, and funnily enough, did not have enough salt on it. Lastly, we were excited for the dessert as we are both sweet tooths and decided to get the creme brule. Imagine my surprise when the bowl we got was a round bottom glass bowl... The brulee was done nice, had a nice crack to it when we went in, but then came out overcooked creme. The texture was more of a cake and was definetly overcooked. It was sugar so all in all still tasted ok but if you were looking for nice creme brulee, this is not it. We also got some tea with the dessert and even that was some basic grocery store tea. I mean at least try to give us tea from latin america or south africa. I might just be what we got on the menu that gave such a bad expereince. Maybe if you get the braised goat or oxtail or even the steaks it would be better. But, in my opinion a restaurant should serve everything with quality so making one or two things really good cant cut it. I personally cannot recommend this place for dinner. read more

Our family was celebrating a high school graduation for my son and my nephew's birthday. I did my research since some of our family eat halal only. I was thrilled to find such a wonderful menu that caters to anyone. This was our first time here and based off of the reviews and menu I thought we should give it a try. I found it to be a very warm and welcoming environment with beautiful live music playing. My family felt very comfortable and pleasantly surprised at the menu choices and the drink specials. When the food arrived all our plates came out at the same time steaming hot and full of delicious aromas. When I heard everyone saying oh my God yum at their first bite of food I was pleased I picked the right place. We had excellent service very attentive and very kind. Chef stopped by our table to welcome us and later again to make sure our food was satisfactory and it was nice to visit with him and understand his vision for his restaurant. We thanked him for having halal options. He explained to us how he wanted to make his place feel like home to anyone and everyone who walked through the door and to have fresh options for everyone to pick from. What a humble and sweet man. Wow! I really have not had food with this kind of flavor. The seasoning on the rib eye steak, peri-peri wings and potatoes was perfect. The portions are very generous and both the steak and wings were very juicy and nicely cooked. Save room for the dessert. My favorite was the Malva cake with ice cream. My wife really liked the seis leches cake. Service was amazing too! At first I was slightly nervous because my wife and I brought along our baby. We were very well taken care of. It felt like my family visiting our relatives. Very relaxed and at ease. I later realized the owners and their family were taking care of us and checking in on us! My other son ordered the wagyu burger and enjoyed it and I ordered the goat curry and I didn't care for mine. The flavor was good and it was served with rice and plantains and they were pretty good but there were so many bones in my meat that I was scared to eat it. I'm not talking about a bone that you can easily pick out but shards of bones all throughout my dish. We ordered beef, chicken and plantain empanadas. The beef ones were really good. The hostess was friendly, our server was friendly, the person who brought out our food was friendly, even leaving the restaurant I think the owner or a manager was very kind. My wife and I were visiting family in the Katy area and saw this restaurant was close to where we were staying and had breakfast there this morning. I had a waffle, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage links and roasted potatoes. Everything was good and I particularly liked the sausage links and potatoes. The eggs were nice and flavorful. The waffle was okay. It had a cinnamon crunch that I wasn't the biggest fan of but it still tasted pretty good. My wife had the peri wing breakfast and French toast which was delicious. Also enjoyed the mystery flight of mimosas. Prices were very reasonable. Server was great and enjoyed meeting the chef/owner who was very friendly and pleasant. But here are the down side: our server was non existent until we asked for the bill :( understanding that the restaurant can be short staffed at given time but it was odd she took care of tables out of sequence (folks came later got served first). And everything seems to be under a lot of stress. The other reason I gave this place a three is because we expect more flavors of the whole fish. The Caesar salad was drenched with dressing. I don't often complain about portions (or price), but the portions I received were VERY stingy. I ordered for 2 and what I received looked like it was for 1. The dine-in customers were served normal portions, while the takeout customers were robbed of an average sized meal. Also, I ordered the "Prime Rib Dinner." We dined at Astor Farm to Table for the first time and had an amazing meal. We were drawn to this restaurants's extensive and unique HRW menu. Everything we ordered was delicious. Our table had empanadas, calamari, samosa, oxtail, picanha, churrasco, six leches (yes, six!), and crème brule. It was so good, my fiancé literally wiped the plate clean. I ordered the GF keto eggs benedict. The buns were extremely dry and the quantity of fruits was ridiculously small. It was literally the size of a to-go sauce cup.
