Waited a very long time every step of the way. Waited to get any service at all, waited for food, which was very good although portions were underwhelming, waited a good 20 minutes for the check. The place was not very busy. I don't get it. read more

I recently came here with some girlfriends to check it out after hearing Ben Higgins was involved with this restaurant (hey all you other Bachelor fans). We had reservations at 6:00PM but we were all slightly late due to parking nearby being pretty tricky. We shared a bunch of the small plates and thought the food was good. the hummus was great and we did the addition of roaster mushrooms which I thought was a great touch. Another small plate that stood out to me was the roasted cauliflower the chickpeas that were on it that dish were roasted to perfection. I did take away one stay because I thought the portions were pretty small for the price. The fried cauliflower had maybe 6 pieces of cauliflower in there and was $10. Overall a fun spot to met up with some friends and hang out. read more

This was our first visit to Ash'Kara. The cocktails were very well done. Unique and delicious. Service excellent and she provided us with the great suggestions on what and how much to order. We loved everything we ordered and absolutely could not pick a favorite: Roti, Pita, Hummus, Saganaki, Fries, Sweet Potatoes and Asparagus, Colorado Lamb/Tabouli and the Tandori Chicken - all just exceptional. That roti however was unlike any roti I have ever had. read more

Food and service were both excellent. Came for weekday lunch and sat on the patio. Would definitely return to try more of the menu and perhaps a cocktail! read more

I have very mixed feelings about Ash'Kara. The positives: every dish served (except for one which was awful), was excellent. The awful dish was the Caesar Salad, which I had ordered for my main. It was over-dressed in a very runny, very UNTASTY dressing. I am not a picky eater, and I only ate a few bites. Another positive: service was great - very friendly and attentive server. Negatives, in addition to the Caesar Salad: We were seated outside, and the area needs to be power washed. Quite unappetizing - dirty cement, stuff under the table. Second negative: We ordered the hummus, with mushrooms on top, which was excellent; however, if you want pita bread or veggies to dip into the hummus, you have to pay for it. $5 per pita!!! So we bought one to split 4 ways. There is nothing on the menu that tells you that the hummus will come with no dippers. Imagine our surprise if it had been delivered to our table with nothing to dip into it with. Are we supposed to eat it with our fingers? Or our fork? Really weird. Hummus normally comes with pita. Ok to charge if maybe what they provide isn't enough, but this felt wrong. I honestly do not think I will return to this restaurant. There are a lot of other great places to eat. I gave 3 stars overall because most of the food was excellent, and server was great. Almost forgot - their chairs are like torture chambers! So uncomfortable. If you want back support you practically need to lay down. This was outdoors but I think I saw the same chairs inside. read more

My friend and I decided to give Ash'Kara a shot last night and I have to say...IT WAS AWESOME! Between the both of us we had: Hummus Organic Chickpeas, Soom Tahini, Garlic, EVOO, Smoked Pimenton, Parsley, Served with Wood Fired Pita Middle East Snack Mix Marcona Almond, Pistachio, Pomegranate, Dried Fava Israeli Salad Za'atar Ranch, Chickpeas, Feta Falafel Ketchup Tahina, Urfa Pepper Lamb Kofte Local Lamb, Saffron Yogurt, Pomegranate Molasses Spanish Octopus Zhug, Celery, EVOO The Hummus was perfectly seasoned and the Wood Fired Pita was great (we had 3 of them)! The Middle East Snack Mix was new to me and was very good. The Israeli Salad was very fresh and tasted great. The Falafel had to be one of the best I have ever tried! They were cooked and seasoned perfectly! The sauce had just enough spice the provided a very good "burn" in your mouth, I could of eaten a bowl of the sauce with Pita. The Lamb Kofte was perfectly seasoned, juicy and cooked perfectly, most importantly it was not gamey tasting. The sauce that came with it was also great. The Spanish Octopus was also fantastic! It had a wonderful char taste and was very tender, it was cooked perfectly...no chewy rubber bands! We had the Cookie Platter for dessert and they were all wonderful, it was a perfect way to end the meal! I forgot his name, but our waiter who's from Alabama was new to the restaurant and he did a great job! Fantastic personality and skills! We also had a chance to interact with the Awesome Restaurant Manager BreAnn! She was very professional and seemed to truly love her job. She explained to us how important the Customer Experience is to her and it shows, her staff is great! I'm sure we will be back! read more

Delicious meal! Flavorful falafel bowl and light to eat. The only thing I'd change is the portion size. It's pretty small and not hearty if you're really hungry. read more

Beware of hidden gratuity cost! Called for a pickup order. Upon arrival to pickup the order I was notified there was a 20% mandatory gratuity for pickup. I get the times in the restaurant business are difficult but that's just a sneaky way to do business. For easy math: I had to pay 10$ to go pick up my own 50$ order. Won't be going back. read more

Ash'Kara - Carrot Kibbeh Hummus Babaganoush Olives Pita and Falafel - Mediterranean Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Oh my goodness I can't say enough good things about this place. Hummus: Amazing, you really can't go wrong with any of the flavors. Pita: warm, soft, and probably the best I've ever had. Falafel: to die for; so crispy & fresh. Seriously, everything at this restaurant just tastes so fresh & authentic... we were so impressed. We first came here for dinner with friends & ordered lots of little share plates. Everyone was blown away with everything. We also tried a few of the cocktails - they were all delicious! So creative and unique. The second time I came in was for Happy Hour, and it made me love the place even more. In addition to trying our usual hummus, pita, and falafel, we also tried the lamb kafta and one of the other dishes. Both also blew me away & on top of tasting amazing, everything was also discounted for happy hour! Win win! We also tried the house white for happy hour, and I was impressed by this as well. Don't miss this spot. One of the best restaurants in Denver right now for sure! read more

Living in southern CA for 10 years & Chicago, IL for 12 yrs & having lots of culinary experiences & having superb Mediterranean cuisine in both places, Ash'Kara now holds a special place in my foodie heart! Just popped in for a quick bite & tried the lamb kabobs, hummus with pita, and fries with z'atar seasoning with a lemonade. All of the ingredients are top notch, presentation was clean & beautiful. The service was outstanding! They have an automatic 20% gratuity policy & I wish more restaurants observed this practice & enforced standards of service like Ash'Kara. Service is so great, it warrants leaving extra gratuity. The ambiance is warm & inviting & even has an outdoor patio for dining. Will definitely be back. read more

Buzzy buzz buzz! This place was pippin' when we visited last week. An 8:30 reservation didn't deter us and we were glad we waited. Our waitress, Taylor, was delightful and guided us through the menu items. Three of us sampled: Hummus plate Pickles Falafel Saganaki Roasted Carrots Grilled Octopus It was a bit too much food for three but we enjoyed the variety. Personally I'd cut out the Falafel. The Hummus was the first thing we ordered and it was tasty but the portion is scant. Presentation is nice but for $10, I expected more. Also more oil! The pickles were next. A small plate but zippy and good. The falafel was a bit of a let down. The falafels themselves were good but the ketchup sauce was an odd accompaniment. Saganaki is fried cheese. You kind of can't go wrong when ordering the saganaki although we all hoped that it would come out on fire. For me, the octopus and roasted carrots were stars of the show. I thought the octopus was cooked well, texture and flavor were spot on. There was also something spicy and delicious on the bottom. The roasted carrots were sweet and charred but still firm and super... carrot-y. This dish will make you fall in love with carrots again. While this restaurant is not to the level of Shaya in New Orleans, we had a great meal and we're glad you're here. read more

This place is amazing, from the food to the staff, it's incredible. The food is fresh, spectacular, flavorful, I wish I could have eaten more. The portions on appetizers are somewhat meager but the entrees make up in quantity what's missing. Will definitely go back and highly recommend. read more

We ate here for our 40th anniversary. We loved everything about the place. It has a pleasant atmosphere and our server was great. However, the real star was the food. For starters, we had the Caesar salad which was very fresh and flavorful and the borek which was amazing. As an entree we ordered the chicken tagine which was delicious and which came with amazing roti. For our anniversary dessert we chose the chocolate olive oil cake which we had to take home as we were beyond full. It was very tasty as well (ate it at home later that night with coffee laced with curaçao liqueur). This is our new go to restaurant for special occasions. read more

My best friend and I, we like to watch the bachelor and drink champagne... So naturally, we wanted to try Ash'Kara. I myself, an Israeli American, am familiar with Mediterranean cuisine. We ordered the hummus with added feta and cauliflower, house pickles, baba ghanosh, and labneh. The house pickles were tart, under-seasoned, and overall uninspired. When it came to the other dips only the labneh hit the mark. Overall, our experience was far from positive and we quickly fled next-door to Señor Bear. Unfortunately we will never return to Ash'Kara. read more

I am regretting not coming here sooner. I love Israel cuisine and Ash'Kara hit the spot. The happy hour is more than happy with a variety of delicious options for a great price. The service was amazing Samantha was so knowledgeable and engaging, the ambiance was fun and cozy at the same time, and again.... THE FOOD!! They have celiac safe options which I might add are a little different than the gluten-free options. They are very knowledgeable on celiac and gluten free needs. We had everything from the lamb, chicken and steak kebabs to baba ghanouj and a variety of DIP switch again Samantha was very good on explaining ingredients. The cucumber martini is a hit by chose to have the local Jones vodka. Well, my friend had gin they were both fantastic! The french fries were done, just right you can tell they take pride in the back of the house with how amazing the food quality was. I will definitely be back sooner than later and highly recommend this restaurant to anybody looking for a great happy hour spot or someone with specific allergy needs! read more

Ash'Kara - Pickles, hummus, paratha - Mediterranean Near Me - Denver, Colorado

Outstanding good and service. We will definitely be back! That whipped labneh is to die for!

Fun, lively place. Great staff and beautiful decor. Food was pretty good, portions a little small. Overall I enjoyed my time.

Will update with pictures later* I had the pleasure of watching this restaurant unfold into the beautiful dining experience it is. Ash'Kara encompasses the family dining experience in the middle-east with elegance, vibrance, and class. From the lanterns over the bar, to the authentic rugs hanging on the walls and the canopies that run through the dining room... Ash'Kara was designed and executed with every detail in mind. The aesthetic of the space and the incredibly friendly and attentive staff will make you comfortable as you sit down to partake in a meal that is uncommon to most Americans. Chef, Daniel Asher, crafted the menu from top to bottom with the most authentic, yet creative dishes that will leave you wondering, "how?!" Start with the house-made hummus - creamy and perfectly textured with oil and cheese. The wood-fired pitas are made to order and come out warm and soft (the gluten free pita option is delicious, as well). Accompany your starters with the Muhammara (featuring caramelized walnuts) and the Saganaki. If you want something incredibly unique, savory, and delicious, request an order of the wood roasted carrots, which are served with a pistachio dukka sauce and truthfully don't even reflect the standard taste of a carrot. If you're feeling green, the Israeli salad is refreshing and simple but the Za'atar Ranch dressing makes it worth while. Now, I'm sure every item on the menu is phenomenal, and I plan to return to make my way through it, but for now I will leave you with the Tagine entrees. Serving 2-4 people, the main "feasts" are large and intended to share. The duck is perfectly cooked and seasoned and sits atop a bed of fresh grains (I had the orzo). If you have an opportunity to try the lamb, do not hesitate. It may be even better than the duck but is not always available. The cocktails are unlike anything else in the Denver area, each one has been designed and carefully crafted to complement your meal. My favorites: "The Biblical Sense" & the "Miracle Punch" All in all, compliments to the chef, the GM, the owners and investors, and theentire team at Ash'Kara for creating a smashing success in week one. I can't wait to see what is to come. read more

We went here for restaurant week. Our server was amazing, so attentive. I'd give the food 8/10, some of the dishes were amazing and some were just okay. We just ordered from dash door. The food is delicious and very rich of flavors. We ordered the lamb kofta but it was very very very tiny portion, like one table spoon of rice and 2 small lamb kofta. Wasn't expecting to be that small. The zafron yogurt is fantastic. The chicken Shawarma is my favorite very filling and delicious. It reminds me of my hometown back in the Middle East. The couscous salad was OK. read more

100% Recommend. We started with delightful cocktail (the old fashioned was wonderful) and then enjoyed fresh pitas and hummus for the appetizer. Four of us split the Tagine which was really fun! Great atmosphere. Definitely going back. read more

The food tasted amazing, but everyone at our table had very upset stomachs afterwards. The server picked up cocktail glasses before they were done. Then after ordering another round said that we had to leave (with drinks unfinished) because they had another reservation waiting for the table. Who wants to pay for premium cocktails only to be forced to leave them or chug them?? The whole experience seemed pretty pricey for what it was. Upset stomachs sealed the deal that I won't ever go back. read more

I've been here twice now and tried six different dishes, and I've loved all of them. The small menu is seasonal, so you might not find that thing you really liked last time, but you'll probably still find something you will enjoy. Just trust the kitchen; whatever you get will be good. Don't cringe at the price tag for the hummus and wood-fired pita - it's famous for a reason and totally worth it. Entrees aren't huge but you're going to want to taste everything that others got too, so think of it more as a sharing menu than one where you just order your own dinner. The drink menu can be hit or miss, there are only four taps for beer/cider, and the coffee I'm told was not good, but the food is excellent here so it more than makes up for that. You're best served making a reservation regardless of which night you go, and it's generally street parking in the neighborhood unless you get lucky and snag a spot in the small lot to the west of the building. But you should make the effort to go here, and you'll be glad you did. read more

Absolutely delicious!! We had a group of 7 and were seated inside on a gorgeous evening. It was like sitting on the patio with all the open windows they have. Everything from the service to the food was perfect! I am gluten & dairy free and the waitress did a fantastic job paying attention to that and offering great recommendations and substitutes. The alternative drinks are delicious as well as the cocktails. I'd recommend the avocado hummus! read more

I have a new favorite restaurant in Denver: Ash'Kara. Just as people mentioned in previous reviews, the hummus & pita at AK are TO DIE FOR- you mustn't visit this restaurant without ordering them. In addition to the delish hummus, we ordered the cauliflower dish and promptly ordered seconds after finishing - it was the most perfect cauliflower I have ever tasted. Our server was most kind, welcoming, attentive, and offered top notch service. read more

My bf and I had dinner here for his birthday. Seriously the best Mediterranean food I've ever had

Oh My Gosh!! I'm so impressed with first visit here, albeit it was pick-up due to Covid-19. Called order in, spoke w/ Nicole who was helpful and had it all ready when I got there. Also had her make two (exceptional tasting) "Golden Colada's" listed on outdoor blackboard. The food packaged extremely well and protected for seamless travel home. The Food: It's up there with some of the best middle-eastern/Israeli I've had - and I've eaten the real thing in Israel, Egypt, Abu Dabhi. Ash'kara is as good as Safta, but the prices are more reasonable. Not a single critical remark of the food - it was all exceptional. Ordered a lot of stuff: lamb kofta pickled vegs hummus w/ amazingly seasoned roast cauliflower fabulous unique babaganoush delightful Israeli Salad seasoned roasted carrots cream of potato soup - topped w/ tiny spiced cubed roasted potato's (omg, so damn amazing - never had anything like it.) and the pita is superior! read more

This is a fabulous spot for some inventive and delicious Mediterranean food. The interior is very warm and inviting with interesting tapestries and lighting accenting the bar. All the food we tried was scrumptious! The hummus is outstanding as well as the muhamara dip, both served with the beautifully puffed bread. The roasted chicken is not to be missed. Service was excellent which always makes for a nice evening. I would be happy to return if visiting Denver again. read more

I just got back from a wonderful dinner with friends at Ash'Kara. It was our first time. It was a few of us and my turn to pay. I looked over the bill but not well and was a little surprised that it was $250. I feel weird looking over the bill in detail when I'm paying in front of my friends, but appeared correct. I don't know, I just wanted to do the sly - here's my card sort of thing. The waitress was great but didn't mention anything about the 20 percent gratuity. So I tipped $50. $300 for drinks and some tapas is a lot and I couldn't stop thinking about it when I got home. Then I realized they added on gratuity. Sure enough- it says that on the site. I feel dumb. But I have eaten at Señor Bear a couple times and they have always let me know that it was added on. Our waiter knew it was our first time and I just wish we would have been told verbally. I'm ok with the automatic 20 percent and the service was great but feels deceiving when not told about it when given the check. It ended up being at $100 tip. Again, this is my fault in the end and I am sure it meant a lot to the waitress. I haven't been out to eat a done during the pandemic - and I just don't think this policy should be something you assume customers know. I first tried emailing the manager and jen@ashkaradenver.com before writing a review but never heard anything back. read more

I had to come back to Ash'Kara after celebrating a friend's birthday with 12 other people. A friend of mine and I went back for happy hour a week ago, and we could not have been happier with our happy hour! Our server Lauren was really wonderful. Favorite restaurant in Denver!! Amazing food and always a great vibe. A must-go if you're in town! The pita is the best

Wow! Absolutely loved this place- the menu was a little confusing as it was our first time in, and our waiter wasn't entirely helpful, but once we figured it out and ordered, we were in heaven. The pita is made fresh and was warm when it came out. The falafel was also a highlight. Would recommend! read more

I think this place is maybe a little over hyped. The food was pricey the portions were small and the place was packed. Makes total sense.

Food was only Mediterranean by name. Dishes lacked flavor and for the price I expected something decent. Service was mediocre. Waiter brought out dishes we didn't order. Brought us out the wrong bottle of wine and charged us for the one we did order. I had to get the manager to adjust the price. Better places all over the city for 1/3 the price. Also, they charge $10/ person per reservation, they said it would be deducted from our bill at the end. It wasn't. read more
