I met some family here as we were both coming from different directions. At first the long line seamed a little intimidating but it was Sunday morning so we figured we'd have to wait for breakfast anywhere. Well good thing we stayed. The wait wasn't more then 10 minutes and we were greeted by a very nice waitress, Dana. The place was packed and busy but all of our food came fast and nothing was wrong. Food was delicious! There's a lot to choose from. The menu has to be at least 10 pages long, so you definitely can find something to eat, even if you're picky. This diner serves the platonic ideal of a tuna salad sandwich . That is all you need to know. Also the host, who has been there for years, is a gentleman. He greets every customer like family and treats them all like honored guests. The service is speedy and the huge menu never fails to delight. But do yourself a favor and get the tuna salad sandwich. Great, fast service. The grilled cheese and waffle fries were delicious. The waitress even informed me that it was white American cheese which I thought was a funny touch. The food came fast for it being crowded, apparently they have 9 cooks. The chicken parm was good and filling as well. The buffalo chicken wrap wasn't anything special, more filling then chicken. I took my wife and son there for breakfast. GARBAGE! The potatoes were cold, bland and soggy. The ham of thin and fatty, It's hard to screw up scrambled but it seem they were trying their best to do just that. In a sneaky move, they changed the menus from "Breakfast Specials" to "Breakfast Specialties". The "specials" used to come with coffee and juice. The "specialties" are ala carte. We each ordered a coffee. Those three cups added over 10 bucks to the bill! ($2.75 per cup= $8.25 plus 70 cents tax plus $1.50 tip 20% plus .28 cents credit card fee.) While some of the order was OK, usual Hockey puck burger for my daughter, the breakfast at dinner better, french toast, eggs with sausage for my son in law and silver dollar chocolate chip pancakes for my grandson, my Philly Cheese steak was the worst I have ever experienced anywhere...soggy roll with little or no meat to be found. it was like eating a bread sandwich with a garnish of meat and cheese. Love to stop by the Alexis Diner when I'm in the area. There is always fresh coffee available and the menu is the largest around. Very bland meal. Ordered an omelet with a bunch of veggies and cheese in it and the only flavor was from the cheese. The home fries were completely flavorless as well. I don't think they used any salt and pepper anywhere on the meal. It was also a huge portion, like enough for 3 people to eat. Came here for the 1st time with my mom and sister and I was pleasantly surprised. I orderered the Alexis omelette with sausage, American cheese, potatoes, onion, and green peppers. It was absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection - not too dry, cheesy, with well-flavored fillings. My mom ordered the same and was pleased with her meal. My sister ordered french toast, turkey sausage, and a side of soft scrambled eggs and she also was happy with her meal. The server was attentive and prompt and the place had a bright and cheerful atmosphere. We will be returning. For many years we did not go to this diner as we'd heard bad reviews and in the past it was just ok. Within the last year after reading all the good reviews on here we decided it was time to go back and we've been back at least 10 times. It is always quite crowded which is a good sign but you don't have to wait very long for a seat as they turn the booths/tables around pretty quickly. All of the servers are very nice and attentive. The food is very good and large portions. Had the patty melt with fries recently and I had to eat it with a knife and fork as it was very decadent with lots of cheese and onions on huge slices of rye bread - I don't remember it having mushrooms as it should have but that was ok as it was still delicious. We've also been for breakfast a few times and it has also been very good - fresh eggs, crispy bacon, good quality sausage, good coffee, etc.. I only give it four stars because the consistency isn't always the same (sometimes the pancakes/french toast is a bit burnt or dry, sometimes the fries are a bit dried out) and for me I wish they would do a little better job of cleaning the tables. I know they are trying to turn around tables quickly and they do clean the tables/chairs, etc. but often they tend to be grimy/sticky at the corners and every time I have to put a napkin there or break out a wipie to clean it so my arms don't feel sticky. But that's just me and my OCD and this wouldn't deter me from coming back as the food is really very good. read more

A couple of friends and I have been making a habit of coming to this diner on Saturday mornings for a few months. The service is always wonderful, the best around for sure! The food is delicious and the portions are generous. I have only one complaint--every time we order breakfast, we ask for the home fries to be well-done but they NEVER come out well no matter how much we stress that we don't mind waiting. I was a server in a very busy Greek-owned diner for well over a decade so I understand how it works in the kitchen. It is definitely not the server's fault. The cooks and the owners always would say, "it's too busy" to make the potatoes well done (and there are often a whole lot of other not-so-pleasant words in that sentence!) which really makes no sense but I've been there and I get it. Yes, the potatoes are still yummy but a little crunch to them would be nice! So, to the owner I'd like to say, figure out how to have a place on the grill (or fire up the extra grill) and keep some on there for the well-done requests. It is not an unusual request. Most people do order home fries well done and it can be very stressful for the server to have to explain to the paying guests that the kitchen refuses to honor their request. Other than that, this place is a class act! Again, I just want to stress how good the service is. My food was alright I ordered 2 Poached eggs with Rye bread and oatmeal. The only thing that was actually good was the sausage. I opted not to get home fries and got charged the full price of the meal which is absolutely fine. However always order lemons with my water 2-3 per glass because I cant stand plain water and I was informed I would be charged extra for them as they only allow 1 wedge per glass and lemons are expensive. I bet my home fries I didnt order cost money too. I was upset by this and had a few more bites of my sub par meal and then left. Probably wont be returning. read more

Awesome place to stop for lunch on our road trip. My husband and I enjoyed the Greek salad and Philly cheese steak. The generous portion was enough to share and still take some with us for later. The lunch special Greek salad came with a bowl of New England clam chowder that tasted super fresh and creamy plus a pudding for dessert. The philly was maybe the best we have ever eaten with tender steak and perfectly caramelized onions and peppers and the crispy wedge potatoes and coleslaw complement the sandwich. The staff was very friendly and Steve, one of the owners, came by to make sure we were satisfied with our meal and after finding out we were from Texas and have a long trip ahead he brought us dessert to go. He said they are made fresh in house. The restaurant and bathrooms were very clean and the staff wore masks so we felt very safe dining in. I would absolutely plan future trips so that I could dine here again. I highly recommend. read more

The classic Greek diner experience. The only reason I didn't give it all 5 is that they serve Pepsi rather than coke. When I order a soup starter for my meal, I expect a cup, not a full bowl. And I think of matzo balls as golf ball sized, not the softball that filled the bowl. I got short ribs. They served them with a steak knife, which was completely unnecessary. The diner itself is clean, large and decorated nicely. Very open and roomy. The food itself was a little disappointing compared to some diners that I have been too. I have definitely had better diner food experiences. However, it was decent and the service was quick. I had a pastrami sandwich on rye bread with mustard with fries. The fries were very crisp and delicious, and the bread was toasted which made it taste better. However, the pastrami tasted a little old and bland. Probably won't come back again but if you are in the area and hungry you can try giving it a shot. read more

"Waiter, Stomach pump for three on table 666!"... We've been coming to this place off and on for about 20 years. It's always been a 'HIT' or 'MISS', depending on who was working the kitchen and always a LAST resort. Before I begin to devastate this place, let me make one thing very clear, the service and staff have always been 100% efficient, thoughtful and professional. My issue...or I should say...our issues are with the cuisine. Oddly enough as we pulled into the parking lot my wife asked me why we stopped common here, unable to answer I simply responded,"I hope we don't find out". We were quickly seated and ordered standard dinner food. It was around 12 noon and the place was hopping. My wife ordered Buffalo Chicken Salad. My son ordered the Gyro platter and I followed up with a simple spinach and grilled salad. I'll make this short because just reminiscing about that lunch is making my stomach twitch again. I might have to stop and run to the bathroom at ay moment...wait,..oh...O.K. I can hang on another moment. Order #1, The Buffalo Chicken Salad, the 'chicken' was still suffering from frostbite when it arrived. It was tasteless, and I don't mean the way it was dressed. Oh yes...the dressing, it was also as tasteless as Phylis Dillers make up. After only a few bites my wife threw in the fork and napkin. I asked her if she wanted me to call the server over but by then eating anything else was the last thing on her mind. Order #2, The Gyro Platter, Gyro in Greek apparently means 'Flavorless strip of brown carbon-based substance'. The look of disdain on my son's face was remittance of someone stepping in a pile of dog S*** and realizing what they just did. I later told him that he was lucky, flavorless is better than a 'bad' flavor. Again, there was no use in trying to return the order...he had no desire to eat another thing. Order #3, Spinach with grilled chicken, this was the sneak attack. I made it through 50% of my lunch. I usually like to eat the spinach first and keep the chicken for last...just to let the chicken savor its​ execution, I can be cruel that way...With the spinach gone, I began my assault on the strips of grilled chicken. It didn't take long before I was treated to a crunchy surprise. Yes...I said CRUNCHY! Not being a cook or a chef I had hoped that I was experiencing a new way to prepare chicken. However after my second slice was received, by my now confused upper and lower bicuspid, I surmised that chicken isn't supposed to crunch. As predicted, I can no longer continue. The recollection of yesterdays venture has caused me to become biliousness. I'll end it here by saying...Never Again! read more

I will start by saying my family has been coming to this Diner for over 20 years , we are known there well by the staff . Last night will be our last night ever going to the Alexis Diner . We have overlooked things in the past and always came back being faithful customers even when they had a piece of fish in my granddaughters French fries and she is highly allergic to seafood ( thank god we caught it in time) hard to believe that they would use the same fryer for seafood and french fries. Last night was the icing on the cake. I ordered a grilled chicken Caesar wrap, and I asked for swiss cheese in the wrap . It comes out with no cheese, so I tell the waiter there's no cheese can I please just have some cheese slices (so as not to inconvenience anyone) he goes to the kitchen comes back and says oh they said they put four slices of cheese on your wrap. I was like no there's no cheese. He goes back to the kitchen comes back and says, can you open your wrap ? Now he is actually hovering over me and my plate as I open up the entire wrap ! Now it's all over my plate to show him there's not one piece of cheese on the wrap. He goes back to the kitchen now the manager (Lou) comes over and he's like I don't know my cook said that there was cheese on that wrap I said are you kidding me ??? I literally said is there a problem giving me some cheese after all I am paying for it . I cannot believe the extent they went to , even making me open up my entire wrap - over cheese?! I understand the prices of everything have gone up but whatever happened to "the customer is always right". My daughter was upset and told the manager Lou that this isn't the first time they've made a mistake like this and that you would think after coming there for over 20 years, we would not have had to go to this extent over cheese. His response is " if you have a problem here, go somewhere else". It seems between him and Jeff they are losing customers . Both of them get very argumentative and need to take a class in customer service. We were never offered refill on our drinks nor did the waiter ever return. We had to ask the bus boy to get him for our check . Not only has the quality of food and customer service gone down since Covid but The staff is like a revolving door . Last night the Diner was very bare , that should tell everyone something right there . As for my family, we will never step foot in that place again. read more

Was here late night on a recent visit. And had a very nice experience. Located right off exit 10 on I-84, it doesn't look like much from outside. But its very spacious inside with several dining areas. The menu is just as large, and you can easily catch a case of information overload. We started off by creating our own snack platter: zucchni sticks, fried ravioli, jalapeno poppers with cream cheese, and potato skins- it was very filling! I had the tuna melt on rye with provolone. Not a huge fan of mayo but this was balanced well and made just right. Came with plenty of waffle fries, dare I say- maybe even too many? She had gotten the philly cheese-steak, and was very happy with not only the portion size but how tasty it was. From chocolates, to cakes, to pastry specialties- they have a huge assortment of dessert. All baking is done on the premises too.
