This is a very nice zaxbys. Brand new and very open. The food was good. Restaurant is clean. Very easy on and off the expressway (no till payment required) - exit 8 I believe. Had the club sandwich. We also had some chicken wings (sweet and spicy were very good wings). Good kids meal. Coke freestyle soda machine. The staff didn't seem real customer service friendly. By hey left an item off our order. When i returned to counter they said they already realized they left off and would be out in a few minutes. So in a few minutes they call my number again to come pickup. I would normally expect a place to bring it out to you and apologize vs just calling your number like you just ordered it. Basso they forgot to give us forks for any items so had to go back up for that too. None of this was a big deal just enough for me to not give the place 4 star which would have been a high rating for me. So I rate 4 star for fast food quality (this is comparing from a fast food standpoint) but an average 3 star on fast food service. Still recommend as very good option off expressway. read more

When I asked the assistant manger for honey mustard she let me know it was .50 cents so I said could I have ketchup instead then she grabs the biggest handful and puts them in my hand but as I'm trying to grab them cus they were kind of tossed at me in a way I broke my whole nail off and she was so rude and I've never been there before I had no idea they charged for sauces which is totally fine. So I just ate at Zaxby's for the first time and I will NEVER be going back. It's overpriced, very poor food quality and prepping, and this particular one in Chesapeake is very filthy, sticky, trash everywhere, tables not wiped down, condiments station empty, and overall underwhelming in every aspect. The ONLY good thing from this location was the cashier; she was pleasant, helpful, polite, always smiling, helped me through my complicated order, and not once did I get sass or attitude. It was my sisters and I first time trying this place out in hickory part of Chesapeake. It was very clean in there and the staff were friendly. The lady at the cashier helped us choose what to order and recommended the "Wings and things" it came with 5 traditional or boneless wings, 3 chicken tenders, fries, a buttery toast, and a drink all for $9.99. It was alot of food that I had to take some back home. The food was not bad, besides receiving tiny wings, the tenders made up for that. Of course they have many other options, even family sizes. I don't see why they charge for sauce. It's like I either eat a dry sandwich/dry fries, or I have to pay for something that would be free anywhere else. I brought my mom here for the first The and she was not impressed. The cashier was not very helpful and they forgot the toast for both our combos. And when I went up there, it seemed like they were annoyed and didn't wanna be there. I get it, we all have those days. But I swear there was only one person who really seemed to do a great job. When I initially saw this place and looked online I had high expectations thinking it could be another Raising Cane's but much to my dismay I was completely wrong. When I entered the business the customer service was not very good. The employees seemed distracted and very disinterested. I ordered the chicken finger basket and once I sat down I was disappointed at the quality of the food. Albeit its of course chicken fingers but I've had chicken fingers which tasted fresher and definitely had more flavor. When I lived in SC I loved going to Zaxby's for their salads. Not sure how this one in VA is different but its definitely not near as good as I remember. Absolutely horrible. Service was terrible food wasn't that great. Also have been told by people that used to work there half of the time they just reheat the food. 30 dollars wasted. It use to be better but as the years go it's just getting worse and worse. It's not worth your time or money I'm sure they will close down eventually. And the soda machine in the dinning room was out of just about every soda and the sweet tea tasted like it was about a week old. And the tables where small and nasty. We got a ten piece traditional wing tray, and the wings were itty bitty tiny. They were probably baby chickens and it ended up costing $13 with tax. Also you can't grab any napkins so if you need to wipe your face of all the messy hot sauce you have to awkwardly walk up to the counter and ask for some if you're out. This is the 2nd time I went in. The first time I left due to the unorganized ordering process and the staff not knowing answers to simple questions people were asking. For a place that advertises it's wings with sauces they said they have no Original which is their take on Buffalo wings and no Buffalo sauce to dip other wings in. If ya wanna see what the management is like watch the cooks through the window, service up front and the quality of food you get. I am a friend of a former employee and he tells me no one wash's there hands near enough, the management lies to it's employee's they watch movies on there cell phone. This place has a turn over of former and new employees every month, never keeping 90 percent of its employees more than 2 months. There labor and food cost is through the roof therefore they fired my friend cause he made one of the most per hour pays in the facility and they where cutting anyway shape or form. My second experience was not so great. It was a night and day difference to my first experience and honestly met what most of the reviews that I read were mentioning. Arrived right after 5PM on a Friday. Place had no customers inside. Made my order and got absolute crap food. Old stale fries. Chicken fingerz so hard the fork wouldn't penetrate them. Had to bring my plate back to the front to tell them it was not edible. They replaced the 5 chicken fingers only and didn't bother to even bring it to the table. Just called me back to the front to get it. Another stroll up to the counter to get food almost as bad as the first trip. Absolute garbage food. My friend tells me that Zaxbys is decent food further to the south. Not sure what is going on with this place but Chik-Fil-A is right next door and consistently good. Onion rings very good but not worth the trouble to get off the road for. Also had a chicken salad sandwich. Worst chicken salad I have ever had. No onion, no pickles, no spices, no flavor. Floor wet sign placed right in front of drink machine due to overflowing, melting ice with a rolled up wet rug next to that making it awkward & unsafe to get a beverage. After receiving our food and walking back to our table we realize that they gave us only one fork when three out of the four meals required one. Upon returning to the counter to get forks (they are not available except for the asking) the staff ignored me and walked away. Eventually one of the cooks came from the back and gave me forks. The first time I went here it was extremely crowded w/ a line of cars wrapping around Wendy's so it was a no-go. I did go during "dinner time" so that could have been a reason why it was extremely busy, plus it's still new. I decided to let the crowd die down and went on a Monday, early afternoon. It wasn't crowded or busy at all. When I ordered, I was asking the cashier questions about their different sauces since I have never eaten at Zaxbys. She seemed to be annoyed by the way she was responding back to me each time. I just felt like she wanted me to hurry up and make a decision. So I just ended up picking a regular sauce, BBQ. That already put me in a bad mood. I would think that a place that is fairly new, staff would be more helpful and nice. I don't know if she was a manager or what, but she was also talking a bit mean to an employee in front of guests .. the way she asked the employee "DID YOU CLOCK IN YET" sounded like she asked it with an attitude, but that's just my opinion. Food wise...eh. It's not all that. I feel like it's a bit pricey too for food that's mediocre. I ordered the fried white cheddar bites. What a rip-off. A. they were so tiny. B. basically they are like wanna-be mozzarella sticks. I also ordered the wings and things, which included a piece of toast, crinkle fries, chicken wings and chicken tenders.
