Jollibee is comfort food and reminds me of happy times with family and friends. I'm happy they have a location in Virginia Beach. You can't go wrong with their ube or peach mango pie, fried chicken, pineapple juice, and spaghetti. People tend to not realize this is fast food. It's nothing too fancy but it can hit the spot. I love Jollibee's mission and theme of togetherness. Recently, I went in for their Final Fantasy collab since I love that video game series. I loved how cute the packaging and merch were. Our meal box came with free FF x Jollibee stickers and they were so adorable! The design on the cups was super cute too. I usually do online pick up orders, which go smoothly. However, the day I went to sit down was super busy. I think it was the Sunday post-church rush. We waited a little over 30 minutes. I wasn't too upset because I see the staff working hard, and I assumed I just came in at the wrong time. Either way, I'll be back! Take advantage of their rewards system! My son was adamant on trying this place before we left VA. There was a Now Open sign and a line almost out the door so I'm assuming they remodeled and had just re-opened. We ordered the two piece Chickenjoy meal with sides of spaghetti, mashed potatoes, coleslaw and then the peach mango and the ube pies with the pineapple splashes as the drinks. TikTok had me in a chokehold... so I FINALLY tried Jollibee! And honestly? I have thoughts! I've seen SO many Jollibee reviews all over TikTok that I couldn't wait to finally try it for myself. And listen... they actually handed me a buzzer to let me know when my food was ready! I've never gotten a buzzer at a fast-food restaurant before. The wait wasn't terrible, but it was definitely longer than I expected. I ordered the 6-piece chicken bucket with two sides, fries, mashed potatoes with gravy, a peach mango pie, and two drinks for $21. Not a bad deal at all! We got a mix of mild and spicy chicken. I'm definitely a white-meat chicken girl, so I was a little disappointed when my spicy piece was dark meat. It wasn't really my preference, but I will give Jollibee this: THE CRUNCH ON THAT CHICKEN WAS AMAZING! Now let's talk sides... Fries: Cold. Absolutely not. Mashed potatoes: Very little flavor and tasted like boxed potatoes to me. Gravy: NOW THIS had flavor! Definitely the MVP of the sides and perfect for dipping. Omg!! I've been wanting to visit Jollibee for soooo long but never had an opportunity! But I knew on my way back to Richmond from the Outer Banks I had to stop by and try the famous Jollibee restaurant. First, on a busy day you have to order on the app to avoid the wait even it is fast food it is not fast. Ordered palabok family meal and yum w cheese pack. The palabok was so flavorful and whoever made it today made our day w the right sauce for the noodles. The spicy chicken w gravy is always superb. A really must try if you go try. For example, the 12 piece Chickenjoy "Meal Deal", six legs and six thighs with a side of gravy, is $37.50 before tax. I can get an eight piece chicken at Publix for $12 (2 breasts, 2 thighs, 2 legs, 2 wings). If you have forty bucks to burn on twelve pieces of dark meat chicken, go for it. This was my first time trying Jollibee. I got the 2pc spicy with a side (potatoes with gravy) and a drink. I absolutely loved the chicken. It was juicy, cooked amazing, and the spice was perfect. The potatoes with gravy were so good. I had the chance to try the fries and rice, which were both so good. Our cashier, Diodelene, was so sweet and nice. The only issue is that due to its popularity there are a lot of folks waiting for food. Can't be helped, but with limited seating (for the crowd size) I strongly suggest one person in your party camp out at a table while you order. I visited Jollibee for the first time and had a pretty disappointing experience. The restaurant itself looked nice and was fairly busy, but there was a noticeable foul odor, almost like there were plumbing or water issues. Before ordering, I used the restroom--and that's where things really went downhill. While I was inside, I heard someone finishing up obviously changing their pad and then quickly leaving with the wipes and feminine items in hand without washing their hands. It turned out to be an employee, which was extremely concerning. They left so fast that I couldn't identify who it was. For a first impression, this was honestly disgusting, shocking, and off-putting. Cleanliness and hygiene are non-negotiable, especially in a restaurant. Unfortunately, this experience completely turned me off. Then it took FOREVER to get the food. While they had a lot of chicken ready to go it seemed like they fulfilled orders every 5 minutes. Lots of employees were walking in circles in the back seemingly not knowing what they were supposed to be doing. I found this place on a whim. My son was on a strict diet in preparation for his track meet. The night after he wanted some fried chicken. We are not from this area so I got on Yelp and searched fried chicken. I stumbled upon Jollibee, I then searched it on TikTok. All of the outlandish review videos I found had me sold. It is disappointing to say that I have to travel from North Carolina to Virginia for tasty fried chicken since Virginia it's the closest one to me. I like my chicken not to battered with flour, extra crispy and not too salty. Jolibee has all my preferences when it comes to fried chicken. I've tasted some other chicken brands and there heavily battered in flour making the chicken less crispy. On this trip I tried the limited Aloha Chicken burger.It was so yummy. We were at Virginia Beach and decided to take my cousin here, who hasn't had Jollibee since he came from the Philippines a year ago. We got here late around 8ish, and the place was still busy. I'm gonna go out on a limb and hope I don't regret it because I will return. After Yelp Elite friends have raved about Jollibee I had to check them out. Granted it took forever and for that I regret it. The visit was on a weekday and was packed with mainly a Filipino crowd. The chain is Philippine based, so it makes sense to me. Also the area is heavy Filipino. The front of the business needed a serious mow. Service great and patient at the counter ordering for a first timer. Ultimately it had to be the chicken and pineapple drink. The dining room had a older gentleman trying his best to keep clean with an almost packed room. My order number was called in less than 5 minutes. The three piece had huge drums and was downright tasty with yummy breading. The pineapple drink was shockingly delicious and refreshing. I left full, satisfied and a bit surprised with my new quest. They are absolutely better than A-OK, but a 4 seemed a bit of a stretch. Oh well, a 3.5 rounding up. This is one of my favorite fast food restaurants. The spicy chicken with adobo rice and mashed potatoes will do it for me EVERY TIME. The chicken is juicy and crispy and packs a punch with spice. I loveee the flavor of the adobo rice and a pineapple quencher for a drink. I like to come on Sundays cause it's busy (but not too long of a wait) and the food comes piping hot and fresh. I tried to go to this location when we were stationed here the first time in the early 2010s, but they said the fried chicken was going to take 30 minutes. The place was packed! That was my memory. Luckily, when we arrived, there were a good number of customers, but no means in the "packed" category. What we ordered: - Pineapple drink - would definitely get this again. It kinda reminds me of a agua fresca, but not fresh pineapple juice. Great to wash down all food. - Chicken sandwich - not my favorite. Chicken was good, but the bun was a bit strange to me. Almost too browned and too perfect. Almost like play food. - Filipino spaghetti - It reminds me of the spaghetti my mom made growing up. Is this an Asian thing? I thought it was just my mom making it sweet with hot dogs, but I guess not. Jollibee's was even sweeter than my mom's. I know a lot of people love this, so I'm not gonna yuck your yum, but I will respectfully decline. You can have it! More for you! - one regular fried chicken and one spicy fried chicken - star of the meal! I loved the spicy version the best. Great addition to the Filipino community here in Virginia Beach. The chicken is fresh and crispy. I had the chicken sandwich and it was way bigger than CFA. Someone in the back got a little too liberal with the mayo but that's can be rectified on the next visit. Customer service was welcoming and the place itself was clean. My only gripe would be the adobo rice. It's a little mushy for my liking and the taste of adobo is barely there but that's just my 2 cents coming from a Filipino household where you can taste the history of your ancestors in your mother's cooking.
