    1/4 chicken with 2 sides

I used to go here every week when they first opened. I have not been there in a long time. Today I ordered 1/4 chicken with 2 sides and you don't even get the whole 1/4 chicken -they cut the top off. The portions are way smaller than what they used to be. The two guys who were there when first opened were great-now no one speaks or is friendly-they just take orders and hand you a box of food. I guess the dirty napkin was free of charge LOL!!! Time to move on-sigh!!

Excellent, excellent, excelente. The food tested great my wife Chris and I shared a bowl for lunch. So so tasty. Much better than Chipotle! Eat here and you're not going back to Chipotle.

1/4 Chicken, fried yuca, beans & rice

A wonderful smell of chicken roasting over a wood fire hits you as soon as you walk in the door. The place smells like and tastes like the dozens of such places in Northern Virginia and the DC suburbs. In general, I came on a Monday afternoon around 2 PM. Not very many people here, but the restaurant was very clean and the service was fast. Oddly all the staff or maybe owners seem to be Indian or maybe Pakistani. I got a quarter chicken dark meat, rice&beans and fried yuca. About $16 with medium fountain drink. Chicken was not super meaty, but it had good flavor. Looked like there were a lot of other menu options I'd like to check out. Considering a #1 meal at Chic fil la can cost nearly $14 this is a nice alternative.

Charcoal Chicken is located in the Salem Crossing shopping area. It's a small restaurant that has an adequate menu with a variety of dishes. Their tacos are delicious. It's a convenient place to pick up a quick meal.

I've been wanting to try the food, the inside and outside was clean. The guy that was taking my order was rude and kinda snappy not a good first impression. Food was overpriced, they didn't give me any silverware and food was, I definitely won't be back!

Ordered the 1/2 chicken with green beans and fried rice. The chicken was moist and very tasty, the seasoning was excellent, the skin which I know I shouldn't eat could not be skipped. The fried rice was full of flavor, the green beans had some amazing flavor to them but the only downside and the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 was that there were a little soft instead of having a nice crunch to them. After you order and get your food there is seating in booths along the sides and a long table in the center with some bar seating at the front window. Al in all a great place for lunch with some really good food.

Great food, loved the burrito and seasonings. A little pricey but a great alternative for healthy food compared to everywhere else!

The food is awesome. I'm a diabetic and I prefer not to eat fast food. This food is made fresh to go. The service was quick and fast.

The restaurant was clean, well-lit, and had plenty of available seating. I ordered the quarter chicken with Peruvian fried rice and sweet plantains. Everything was exceptional; the rice and plantains were cooked perfectly, and while I did think the chicken was slightly salty, it was still very tasty. I also enjoyed the green sauce provided, though the food was flavorful enough on its own. My only minor suggestion is for the staff to ask guests whether they prefer white or dark meat when ordering. Aside from that, the meal was excellent. If you are looking for authentic, great-tasting Peruvian chicken, I highly recommend stopping by El Pico de Oro.

The food is delicious -- from the perfectly seasoned rotisserie chicken to the sides: yuca fries, peruvian corn salad, potatoes that taste homemade. The chicken is juicy, tender, and full of flavor, especially the dark meat, though fair warning: it can take a bit longer to come out if you order that. What really stood out was the fact that it was a one-man show -- the same person was the cook, cashier, server, and everything in between. You could tell he was working hard and looked exhausted, but he still managed to get everything done with a calm demeanor and a fairly steady attitude. Patience is key here, as food is made to order and may take time depending on what you choose. But trust me, the taste is worth the wait. Oh and If you're dining in on a hot day, make sure you grab a seat near the fan -- it can get very warm inside. It's a no-frills spot that delivers on flavor and heart.

I hadn't eaten there in over five years, so I was hoping the food was still as good as I remembered. My visit was on a Friday evening, around 6:00 or 6:30 PM. The dining room was relatively quiet, with only two other customers present, and I was immediately greeted upon walking in. I asked the cashier about the new menu item, the "Lamb Chops." He described them as pan-fried, noting that an order includes two to three nice-sized chops and comes with two sides. I decided to order the lamb chops to go, selecting the arroz chaufa (fried rice) which was a $1 upcharge and plantains as my sides. I was extremely disappointed when I opened my order and found that I had been served lamb shoulder for $18 and not the lamb chops I expected (typically rib or loin chops). To add to my disappointment the quality of the Lamb was very poor; it was tough, contained an excessive amount of connective tissue and fat, and was ultimately inedible. I ended up having to throw the entire portion away. The arroz chaufa also had inconsistent quality. While the flavor was good, the texture varied significantly, with parts being mushy and overcooked, and others remaining hard and undercooked. The Plantains were cut too thick and were also undercooked. Given the cost and the expectation associated with "Lamb Chops," I was extremely unhappy with my meal. I believe the cut of meat served was misrepresented, falsely advertised and the quality was unacceptable. I certainly cannot recommend this item to others and regret not ordering the chicken, which I know your restaurant prepares well.
