    Burria tacos

It can get packed in here. First time I went it was difficult to understand the waitress so if you are practicing your Spanish, this would be great. Second visit I tried the burria tacos. Not the best I've had but they were pretty good besides the over salting. Sports in tv. Loud music. Ceviche was okay. My brother comes here for the micheladas (claims they taste just like the ones he had in Guatemala). It's basically a Latino Bloody Mary but with beer. Sometimes the waiting staff can be very busy. Overall, I'd visit again.

Three words: Soft Serve Margaritas! Look no further, there's FINALLY a restaurant in Hampton Roads that has Sorbet/ Soft Serve Margs! The food is good, but definitely comparable to other Mexican Restaurants in the area-- this restaurant just has an added perk, which is enough for us to choose it above others. I got the Taquitos Mexicanos, and my husband got the Birria Quesadilla. I absolutely love the shredded chicken in the taquitos, I prefer it over grilled chicken! The Birria in the quesadilla was tender and flavorful, but we wish it came with more consome! The food and drinks earn 5/5 stars, but we're having our experience 4 stars because of the service. Though nice, our server was slow with our requests, and didn't check on us after we got our food. We wanted to order another round of drinks but didn't get the chance since she only came back after we were done with our food and full. Hoping to give a 5 star review after our next visit!

We were close by and wanted margaritas. Got on yelp and found this restaurant. So glad we found this spot. Food was really good and the strawberry margarita hit the spot on a sunny Sunday afternoon. There's a big sign in front of the restaurant with their phone number for curbside pickup and call ahead. Perfect for people who drive into the shopping center wondering if they are open for business or not. We called in our order from the parking lot after going thru their menu from their website. We ordered carne asada fries, tacos and a margarita. They said it would be done in 10mins. Service was so fast! We pulled up to the curbside and called them back to let them know we were in front. Shortly after they came out with our full order. Service was super fast and they were also very friendly. The food was fresh and delicious. Everything hit the spot. They also gave us a bag of chips, salsa and white sauce. Great spot and can't wait to go back to try other dishes!!

This El Azteca Mexican Restaurant opened recently in the Courthouse Marketplace Shopping Center, which is located next to the Virginia Beach Municipal Center. My first visit here was on August 1, 2019. My most recent in person visit was on January 25, 2020. However, I have ordered from them for delivery on March 30, 2020 during the stay at home orders. A few days before coming here, we had gotten a coupon for the place in the mail (each time we've visited). We had been to their other location in Town Center in the past, but it was further away, so we didn't go to that one very often. When you get to the shopping center, it's not too hard to find the place. You can see the Mexican theme outside, as well as inside once you come in. The host stand is right there as you enter. The main dining area is to the right and the bar is to the left. We were seated in the main dining room area and were given chips and salsa immediately. A few seconds later our server was at the table asking for our drink and appetizer order. Of course we did the cheese dip appetizer. After a few minutes, the cheese dip came to the table and our server asked if we were ready to order. In this case, we were ready to order. I went with the Burrito Mexicano, taking beans instead of rice. My mom went with the Fajita Quesadillas with beef, taking beans instead of rice. As usual, it didn't take too long for the food to come out. It was probably 6-8 minutes between the time we ordered and the time the entrees came out. Just like before, the food came out hot, fresh, and looked great. The Burrito Mexicano came out exactly as ordered. It tasted great and was a good portion size as well. The beans were great too. I've never been a fan of rice, so that's why I always opt for beans instead. My mom liked the Fajita Quesadillas as well. I wanted to share my experience with the delivery on March 30, 2020 as well. I called in earlier in the day to see if they did delivery, and confirmed they did. Later that day, I called up and ordered for delivery. We were even able to use the coupon we had as well. We did stick with what we had gotten from them in the past. Payment was done via phone, but did need to sign the receipt when they came, so it wasn't able to be a full contactless delivery. The food was just as good as it was as if we were in there. The only thing that didn't seem right were the chips, as they did taste stale. That was probably just a fluke. It didn't matter as we had lots of chips here at home anyways. Overall, I have had some great experiences with this new location for El Azteca. In the restaurant, the service has always been good and attentive. Food has been great. This gives a great experience overall. Even the delivery version turned out well too. If you are in the area and looking for a Mexican restaurant, definitely check this place out, even if it just takeout and delivery until this pandemic ends and things get back to the new normal.

Perfect place for a Friday night of food n drinks with friends. Service was great. Pina colas were strong and refreshing. Food was delicious and fresh. The dipping sauce for the Birra Quesadillas were not spicy at all.

Not sure why others gave such negative reviews. This is a newer place. Not many patrons when we arrived at about 1pm on a Sunday. Service was fine. Menu selection was robust like with most of these type Mexican restaurants. Chips and salsa standard while waiting for meals. Guac was a tad on the bland side. The meals were good portions and what I would consider good value for the price. Frozen margarita was like any other in comparison to other Mexican restaurants. My guess is given the location, they have a more robust business in the weekdays when the city government buildings are open. This one will be a repeat for us.

All the food here is stellar. They have the best white sauce, complimentary if you dine in, (chips and salsa included.) We were greeted and seated right away. They have ample seating here, so you shouldn't have to wait too long. If you're coming with a really large party, 10+ they'd still have space for you, but no private party room, or small section to fit a large party, which isn't really a problem. The tamales here are some of the best I've had, very moist and not dried out, which is rare in most restaurants here. We ordered shrimp and rice 'Arroz con camornes' and the shrimp are always cooked perfectly and flavorful. The rice with every dish is good, but not amazing. But all the other positives outweigh the one not amazing thing. But I highly recommend eating here.

Here's the deal: Jessy's is located in a small shopping strip. While the building is a little older I did not think l it run down or in a part of town that I would consider questionable at all. I saw at least one review that noted this- could not disagree more., nothing to fear here. Plenty of parking and it's free! Once inside the restaurant is medium sized with seating for at least 15 parties and tables that can accommodative larger parties, 10+ people. There are two order stations at either side of the restaurant - one for hot food the other for ice cream and desserts. Service was friendly and attentive. You can choose to self order for takeout or be waited on. While staff wait on and bring you food and drink, pay is self pay at the food order counter. The menu is larger and has something for everyone. Proteins are optional for nearly every dish. The food here is authentic with lots of protections including some of my favorites- Al pastor and chicken tinga. Chips and salsa are scratch made and fresh- very good. We had street tacos which were very flavorful and also scratch cooked including the corn tortillas. Served with traditional hot sauces to add that little extra heat- awesome. The Al pastor was not grilled to get that char that some Al pastor dishes have but was otherwise spot on. Chicken tinga was perfect. If you are looking for authentic Mexican at reasonable prices, this is your place and absolutely worth a few minutes drive over. Hope to see you there sometime- happy eating!

We came here to celebrate a birthday, and it ended up being one of those meals where everything just hit. First off, those margaritas are no joke. Massive, flavorful, and strong in the best way. Bonus: they do $2 off specialty margs on Mondays, which is dangerous knowledge now that I have it. I went with the Coco Loco Margarita (1800 coconut tequila, coconut milk, triple sec, and sweetened flaked coconut), and WOW. It was creamy, refreshing, and honestly tasted like a tropical vacation. My friends ordered the House Marg, Peach Sangria Marg and the Spicy Pineapple & Cilantro Marg, all were just as impressive. The spicy one had a great kick without being overwhelming, and the peach option was super smooth and fruity. Before we even ordered, the complimentary chips, salsa, and that famous white sauce came out ... and let me tell you, that white sauce is to die for. I could've eaten that all night. For my dinner, I had the asada enchiladas, and I'm still thinking about them. Perfectly cooked grilled steak laid over cheesy enchiladas with verde sauce, plus rice and black beans. I loved that the steak was on top because once I got full, I could still pick at the protein (elite move). My friends got arroz con pollo, carne asada tacos, and the wildest dish on the table ... the El Molcajete. It came out sizzling in a stone bowl loaded with shrimp, beef, chicken, chorizo, cactus, and all the fixings. We all shared bites and it was unreal. We ended the night with the staff singing happy birthday and completely embarrassing my friend with a sombrero and a candle in his shot. Incredible. Definitely will be coming back, especially for that margarita deal and birthdays!

Happy hour was 3-6pm I think, and there were 2 taco specials on the board. I'm not sure if it was valid or not.. There was one person at the bar taking orders, serving drinks, and pretty much running the place. She was very busy. The anxiety of watching her try to handle everything made me a little uncomfortable. She was doing her best, and kuddos to her for not flipping a table and walking out. She was nice, but she asked us every 3-4 minutes if we knew what we were ordering. It was very aggravating. I don't think she realized after several times we were over it. The inside is pretty much a bar setting with a few booths. It's very dated and low-key kind of gloomy inside. I'd say this is a bar for locals, not really a restaurant. It's definitely the kind of food you could eat if you had a few drinks, maybe. But sober, heck no!! Lol. Ugh. I was excited to try them because they have some 5 star reviews, but it wasn't what I expected. When it was time to eat she went and got the cook from outside. We ordered 2 burgers and fries, and chicken nachos. We left and came back to pick up our order and the seats at the bar was packed at this point. The waitress met us as we walked in, with our food. I was hungry, so I tried the food in the car. The burger was definitely a frozen patty and thick as heck. It looked decent kinda sorta, in a way, maybe, just a little bit. Idk what to say. The fries were crispy but awkwardly greasy!! There was one tiny tomato on my burger and a huge onion that was a little moldy. I've never seen someone use a slice of onion this big on a burger. The burger definitely needed seasoning. I think if it had flavor it would have been decent. I'll give the burger a 4/10. My sister got the chicken nachos and she was not happy. Whatever mystery beans they had made were disgusting. They tasted old or something was off about them. The guacamole was a little sour tasting also, and the chicken was flavorless. She tried so hard to make it work, she even re-cooked the beans and it just didn't help. 2/10!!! She spent $25 and felt it was the worse decision she made all day. I wish I was exaggerating or something, but this is actual factual. The prices are reasonable, I'll say that. But it's definitely certain things to stay away from on the menu. I don't think we'd ever return. Maybe the tacos are better than what we had ordered. If you're looking for a drink maybe things would be better. I think they specialize in drinks over food!?
