My cousin and I decided to meet at Las Palmas 2 for lunch on Sunday. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and was able to quickly get us a table. Chips and salsa were provided as soon as I sat down, which was very nice, and the area was very clean. Once my cousin and her sons arrived, our server grabbed us all drinks and gave us time to look over the menu. We were pleasantly surprised to see Burgers and Corn Dogs on the kid's menu so that's what she ordered for the boys. Since we both had taste for tacos, she ordered the Carne Asada Tacos and I decided on the Chicken, Chorizo and Carne Asada Tacos. Our food was served in less than 15 mins and the tacos were amazing! The meat was seasoned very well and the rice and beans were just as good. My cousin enjoyed her tacos and her boys devoured their food lol! Our server was very nice and continued to stop by to check on us, which we appreciated. Horrible experience. No greeting, first words were "one check or seperate?". Our server rushed us to order and eat, she kept asking us to pass her our plates even though we were still eating. when we finished eating, she still asked us to pass her our plates when she could've just waited for us to leave or grab it from behind us. I asked for the lunch special that comes with two hard tacos and rice. When our meals came out, my husband had chicken enchiladas which he didn't want. So we sent his back. I had asked for black beans and cheese tacos (vegetarian) with a side of rice. I got beef in my enchilada which I didn't even order and a side of black beans. I sent it back and reiterated that my order consisted of two hard black bean tacos and a side of rice. When it came back out, it was what is pictured. At that point I didn't want to send it back a second time so I kept it. Not sure if it was the experience but it's the first time that I don't enjoy my meal at a Mexican restaurant. So whenever I'm there to watch a movie I know I can grab a quick bite at LP2. That's what's great about LP2 - they are fast, convenient and their food is delicious. I usually stick with their specials, like the Brian Special, Chef's Ranchero Special, Sizzling Steak & Shrimp and the Ixtapa Fajitas. All of them are excellent and will fill you up. One of the best, most efficiently run, delicious Mexican restaurants in town. This place is always jumping with people, very busy almost every day of the week due to its great spot in lynnhaven. But it's no problem as there is always somebody to seat you within seconds of you walking through the door. Right when you're seated you're immediately allowed to order your drink of choice as well as chips and salsa brought to your table. The waiters/waitresses are very attentive so you won't have to wait long at all to place your actual order. The food is delicious, with their chicken being some of the best in the area hands down. But it's not just the chicken, almost everything you order on their extensive and easy to understand menu is amazing and well worth the reasonable price. The ambiance is incredibly authentic as Mexican restaurants go. It's nothing "fancy" but that's not really what you're even looking for going into somewhere like this. Man I'm really sad this place is giving my one of my favorite Mexican restaurants a bad rep cuz our visit here at this particular location was horrible. We had a large group with us and everything appeared to be all over the place with the service. Drinks were good and I enjoyed my mango margarita. We also snacked on the tri-colored tortilla chips which I haven't seen before but happily helped myself to. I ordered my usual Steak Vallarta and the steak was way overcooked and tough. I shared a few bites of my meal with some friends at my table and they also said the same. Someone in our group ordered the chicken fajitas and it appeared to be burned. Luckily she was able to get another one cooked for her. We had a couple servers tend to our table but it seemed like there was no communication because there were a lot of confused looks. To put things in perspective, we arrived at 6:30 for dinner. We didn't leave till 9. We frequently have huge birthday dinners and we've seen things run very smoothly and then there are times things are not so smooth. First time at a Las Palmas restaurant. The 2 represents their second location with the original off Princess Anne in Virginia Beach. The second Las Palmas is located in the rear of Lynnhaven Mall by the AMC theater. Customers access from the outside. I'm sure there was something else there, by I never had tried it. Parking on either side of the AMC makes sense, but when busy it's also the most congested. The walk up was mostly clear of debris. A hostess greeted me for an early weekday lunch. Only a few customers were dining. I elected to sit at the bar which is attractive with lots of cool lighting. The bones of the space reminded me of a Ruby Tuesday feel with booths. Everything was clean. A male bartender wasted no time getting my drink order and menu. I have no idea why on a lunch visit, but I said let's give that jumbo top shelf margarita with salted rim a whirl. They have a nice selection of top shelf tequila. I also asked for a tap water. Just behind me a couple was having table side guacamole prepared. Chips and two types of salsa (red/white) was immediately dropped off. The chips and salsa were fantastic and I preferred the white. Within 5 minutes a huge and beautiful looking drink was in front of me. The taste proved to be exciting and one of the better top shelf margaritas I've ever had. I decided to go large on a lunch special. I ordered the Mexico City Taco platter which consisted of three soft tacos (steak, chicken, carnitas), rice, beans and guacamole. The meal took around 15 minutes to hit and was served by a runner sizzling hot! Water at this point hit the danger zone on needing refilled. I was impressed with the refried beans and rice was pretty tasty. Of the three tacos the carnitas was probably my favorite, then chicken and steak last. None of the tacos blew me away, but all held up with no complaints. My server completed a check and water refill soon after. My check was brought out as my meal came to a close and was correct. Obviously with what I ordered it was on the higher side of a typical lunch. That was expected. The bill was processed quickly. A quick dinner after a movie night ended up being a sour finish to the evening. I have been to one of the restaurant locations and had a good time there figuring this would be a continued experience that fell flat. Upon entering we were left standing there for several minutes. A horde of employees were talking at the check out stand but no greeting, instructions so we waited. We were seated and the server a's polite as he was helped us take the order. I specifically mentioned twice no tomatoes on anything. I ordered my meal and we waited. The meal came out rather quickly. And....there were tomatoes on the dish. Unable to eat them I had to request to take them off after 5 minutes or so waiting again just to get someone's attention. The meal was not too bad overall and was quite filling. The bad part was I was sitting in between bites af the server just took my plate - I was not finished. I was just shook for a minute. I even told the server and he turned away and said nothing. We received chips, salsa, and white dip almost right away. The chips were "sturdy" in my husband's words. Rather thick and crunchy, not very salty. The dips were fairly standard. We split a 27 oz blended strawberry margarita. It had a good balance of flavor and wasn't too sweet. More than enough for the two of us to share. I ordered chicken fajitas. They came out sizzling fresh and with four small tortillas, a side of rice/beans, lettuce, pico, sour cream, a tiny smear of guacamole, and a small sprinkle of cheese. The portion was huge. After I had eaten three tortillas full of chicken, peppers, and onions, it still looked like a full plate (see pics). Again, this was fairly standard food. Not overly well seasoned in my opinion. My husband ordered chicken and cheese enchiladas. He received three in his order and ate them all, saying they were good. This Las Palmas location is at Lynnhaven Mall. It's pretty much next to where Uno Pizza used to be at and across from the AMC Theater. Getting to the mall and finding the location is not that bad, but parking can be a nightmare finding a spot. Staff at the mall stores still park in the customer parking areas instead of where they are supposed to be parking. This was my first visit to this location and was on July 3, 2018. Once you've found parking, finding the place is pretty easy with their well lit signage. The outside of the building is typical of what you would see with a Mexican restaurant. We decided to try out this location since we had a coupon for it. We've been to their first location on Princess Anne Rd. several times. Once we came inside, we were immediately seated and someone was right behind us with the chips, red sauce and white sauce. A few seconds later, our server was at the table asking for our drink orders. At the same time, we ordered the cheese dip. While waiting for the cheese dip to come out, we actually talked to one of the other servers we knew from the other location. It was definitely an upbeat atmosphere on this visit. A few minutes later our server was back with the cheese dip and asked if we were ready to order. I ordered the Burrito California with chicken, but substituted rice for more beans instead. While having the chips and really good cheese dip, our entrees came out. They were piping hot and looked quite fresh. After tasting, you could tell it was fresh all the way around with lots of taste and flavor. The server came back to check to ensure everything was good, which it was (it was really amazing actually). In summary, the food was cooked well and was delicious. Overall, this was a great experience at this location, and is up to the same standards as their other location. The only drawback with this location is parking, but that's outside their circle of control. With great food, a great staff, and great experience, this is definitely the recipe to success at this restaurant. I will definitely be back to this location, as well as their other location, again in the future. This brand ranks at the top of my list for Mexican restaurants in Virginia Beach. If you're looking for this type of cuisine, look no further than the Las Palmas brand. You won't be disappointed. read more

Came here straight for the Russia World Cup 2018 since I saw a picture of them having a projector with a big screen. However the screen was not clear so we sat near the bar to watch the tvs over there, but those tvs are way too blurry. The Arroz Con Carne- I had this dish from the other Las Palmas on Princess Anne Rd and I liked the one over there better because they put more cheese on the rice, but it's still taste good tho. I prefer my steak medium to medium rare so the steak to me is overcooked so I think I'll ask for that next time if I'm ordering the same dish. For all those food with some tortillas chips to take home and all the good service and good atmosphere, our bill came to less than 20 dollars(lunch), and since the three of us are not big eaters so we just shared our food, and with tips each of us paid 8 dollars, that's totally a rob. In the Margarita I could barely taste the Jose Cuervo 1800 and I was not going ask for another shot and pay that price.
