This place is my second favorite in this entire area. I'm honestly blown away. The food and drinks were amazing and the service was crazy good! I have never been to a Mexican place that was so personable. Chairs were very comfortable... a little ripped but I don't mind as long as they are comfortable. The vibe in Jose's is nice! I loved the tequila bottles above the table which were repurposed into over head lighting. My margarita deserves it own section.... WOW. This was the most refreshing margarita I have ever tasted it was perfect!! Pineapple marg was okay - my husband liked it but to me it was a little sweet imo. Absolutely amazing we will 1000% be back!! read more

Jose tequilas is what I expect when I want tex mex in Virginia Beach! This hidden gem is right next to the Home Depot and offers a large parking lot, easily accessible from princess anne road and other parts of Virginia Beach. I've been visiting this location for years and the service is second to none! Friendly, quick, and efficient! The beer selection is amazing and the margaritas are worth the trip. Their food is always delicious! Portions are huge and never disappointed in their quality! Check them out! read more

I'm not exactly sure how to start this but I think Jose Tequila might have downsized their menu or maybe they just don't offer a lunch menu anymore? Either way this is still my go to lunch spot. It's close to work usually not too crowded and always hits the spot. Inside was really clean and they have a lot of tv for us sports fans. The first photo is my old favorite the burrito bowl which I ordered all the time. The second photo is their birria. I'd been wanting to try it for a while but never really craved it at lunch until now. With the menu changes I finally gave it a shot and I'm glad I did. The birria was tender and juicy, and the dipping sauces were absolutely delicious. read more

I celebrated Cinco de Mayo at Jose Tequila's with my friends and we had an eventful yet fun experience. Thankfully, my friend was able to get us seated outside fairly quickly so we didn't have to wait too long because it was definitely packed. As we looked over the menu, we noticed servers continuously walking past us. We were seated for at least 20 mins before we had to stop someone to take our order. Thankfully, we knew what we wanted to order, since we had ample time to look over the menu, so we ordered everything at once. The drinks came out after about 10 mins and were great. The food was served shortly after and was delicious as well. There were a few things that we asked for that we never received and my friend ordered a side of rice that didn't come out until we were packing our "to-go" boxes. We expected the servers to be busy due to the occasion but it would've been nice if we could've at least had someone that was attentive to our table. Overall, the food and drinks were a 10/10, and we all had a great time despite the service. I'd definitely return. read more

We went to Jose's for Cinco de Mayo. I don't usually partake in festivities on that day because most Mexican restaurants are busy. That absolutely was the case. Lol. The parking lot looked like we were at a concert! It was people waiting inside and outside. My anxiety was through the roof. But luckily my friend made a reservation, so our wait wasn't as long as others. We caught a few side eyes from people wondering why we didn't have to wait. But stay in your lane, bruh, sis, ma'am, sir!! My friend is a reservation junkie and I love her for that, because it was right on timeeee!!! The inside was packed. Walking through to the patio was an obstacle course. We finally made it to the patio and I appreciated the outdoor seating because it wasn't so overwhelming. We got a good table, but the people across from us got the leaning table of Pisa. The table was broken and slanted. I thought their food was going to slide right into oblivion, but somehow it worked. That table was the last choice or they'd have to wait. (The pic doesn't show how dramatic it was) Lol. I giggled everytime I saw it. The waiters were super slammed. They looked stressed and tired. But they did their best. I'd have to have called out that day, because hell no!! It took about 25 minutes before we got water or chips. I was going to lick the table at one point just to taste something. Omg!! We all decided we better order everything we absolutely wanted at 1 time, because no telling if we'd see a server ever again. I got the carne asada fries. The fries were very under cooked and the meat was chewy here and there. More here than there, ya know. Lol. I wasn't going to dare send it back. Not on this night! I'd probably stick to a chicken dish next time. My friends got cute little buckets of drinks, they looked good. They didn't skimp on the tequila!! We finished our food, then headed out. I'm sure any other day would have been more chill. I'm just sharing my experience on this day. Next year I'll be at home eating a taco instead of out!! Lol. All in all it was a decent night. Check them out!! read more

Cinco de Mayo Crowd? No Problem -- Great Food & Fun Vibes! We visited Jose Tequila's for Cinco de Mayo, and even though it was very crowded, we were impressed with how quickly things moved. We didn't have a reservation and were a party of four, but we were seated outside within minutes. At first, we were a little hesitant because the weather was chilly and looked like it might rain, but it turned out to be just fine. Service was understandably a bit slower due to how packed the place was -- it took a while for our cocktails to arrive, but they were delicious and definitely worth the wait. Our server was kind and helpful, even if a little rushed. I ordered the chicken fajitas with double rice and no beans. The fajitas were really good -- sizzling hot, flavorful, and satisfying. They did forget my extra rice at first, but once I reminded them, they brought it out pretty quickly. No big deal, especially given how hectic the holiday rush was. My friends ordered a variety of dishes -- I know someone had burritos and said they were amazing. Everyone enjoyed their meals and no one had any complaints. The chips and salsa they brought to the table were excellent -- and the portion was huge, which we loved while waiting for our entrees. All in all, for such a busy night, Jose Tequila's handled the crowd really well. The food was flavorful, the drinks hit the spot, and the energy was festive. I'd definitely go back -- maybe on a less hectic night to enjoy it all at a slower pace! read more

Please go here. No regrets. Large drink portions, large food portions and fast service and great customer service.

Food tasted burnt so sent it back but had the nerve to charge me for the salad that was included. Ordered a small margarita and when came was a monster . Was under the impression that the monster was for the price of a small margarita as waiter acknowledged when I was surprised at the size . Bill came and charged for a monster which more than 3/4 remained. Said something to the manager he asked waiter and said I ordered a monster which was a lie . Not sure if they are hurting for money but we will not be back ! read more

Home of the MONSTER margerita! And it actually tastes good AND is massive! The food is good and no matter how many times I've gone I've never left hungry. They accommodate large groups well, service moved well despite being so busy, and there's plenty of parking. It's a regular stop for me and my bros to gather. read more

Came here for dinner with friends before a concert. I was surprised at how packed it was for a Friday around 5pm. We were seated quickly. It took a little while for our order to come out, as to be expected with the amount of people inside. The chips and salsa were really good, the salsa was fresh & the bean dip was good too. Of course I asked for the house hot sauce, which was the perfect kick! I got a steak burrito bowl, one friend got the surf and turf tacos and another got the happy sampler. My steak bowl was really good & it was huge!! If I was going home I definitely would've taken the rest home. The surf & turf tacos looked yummy & were huge. I may try that next time. The happy sampler looked good too, a nice variety. Definitely plan to come back and try different items!! read more

This is a family favorite--we make it a point to have this place multiple times a month. From the chupacabra tacos, birria tacos, margaritas, and fajitas... this place has never let us down. The service is always attentive and fast, and they don't miss a beat to have a good time with you too. Sometimes they have live music playing, or Latin American music bumping--it's always a fun time in there. read more

Went today for the husband birthday. We had heard greats things about the restaurant and it did not disappoint!!! I was shocked that there wasn't many people here. They are missing out because not only is the service great but the food was amazing too! Food: ordered street tacos (beef). Meat dry. Over saturated with other fillers with little meat. You can tell the rice was reheated (dry). Also ordered a Jose Favorite. Melted cheese saturated the whole meal. Cost: wasted $21.00 for each meal. Service: excellent. I will not be eating here again. read more

Great restaurant and staff, continuous service with pretty decent food with a lot of it.

Service was good food was mediocre and the music was terrible. We ask that the music be turned down twice, but didn't notice any change, so we left. The fajitas were tasteless and the shrimp fried rice was just warm. We got a container for the shrimp and left the fajitas barely touched. We are being generous with the 3 stars. read more

As far as chain Mexican style restaurants go, this is by far the best in the Hampton Roads area. Prices are very reasonable and the quality/quantity of the food is the best. They offer three dipping sauces for your chips, all are extremely delicious! Two locations to choose from, either one is as good as the other. Lunch menu mirrors the dinner menu with a separate lunch special selections. read more

I'm not really into Mexican food but I do love me some street tacos. I prefer authentic street tacos. I guess you can say I'm very particular about them. I'm also weird about sending food back. You never know what you're going to get the second time around. On this day I wasn't sure what I got the first time as well. I decided to meet a friend kind of spur of the moment. It was a Tuesday and she was already there. She wanted to order ahead for me. I really wasn't that hungry and didn't want to pay an arm and a leg just because some reused rice and beans would be included. I really only wanted two Carne asada tacos. I've been here tons of times so I knew they were decent. My friend told me it was taco Tuesday and they had a special of 2 tacos with rice n beans for 12 bucks. I gave her the go ahead. I probably arrived 10 minutes later. My food came out right after I sat down. I looked at my food and was totally confused. My 2 Carne asada tacos consisted of meat and melted cheese. No cilantro and no onions. I asked the waiter since when did they start putting cheese on their tacos. He looked at me with smile and said these were the special. Now if I wanted cheese on my tacos I would go to taco bell. I really think the waiter meant to say that these tacos were special. I personally think they gave me either someone else's messed up order on purpose or it was old and they decided to try and cover it up with cheese. I even looked at the whole menu and not once does it say the tacos come with cheese. Not even on the advertisement for Taco Tuesday. At least my dogs were happy. Needless to say, I won't be coming back. read more

Fun atmosphere and the perfect place for a dinner out with friends. We came on a weekend evening, expecting for a wait, but were surprised to be seated immediately with a group of 5. Service was fantastic. I sadly didn't catch our server's name, but she was super sweet and always on top of what we needed! They give complimentary chips and salsa, which are great. We ordered queso in addition, which was $10 for the large. It was quite good, but the price seemed high especially since entrees are only a few dollars higher. We all got different margaritas and all opted for their jumbo size. They were great. I got the prickly pear, skinny margarita and would definitely get it again! We all loved that they served lots of fresh fruit in the drinks. For entrees, I got the combo dinner which came with a tamale, an enchilada, a chile relleno and a taco. It was very mediocre, mostly because it all had the same flavor, which wasn't what I expected. The same sauce on everything, so it all tasted more or less the same. I did like the chile relleno and would probably just get that in the future. read more

I just laugh because there were barely any Latinos and other ethnicities here when my girlfriend and I came here besides white people, so I kinda cringed a little bit. BUT MAN. Margaritas hit hard like a T R U C K. Jose Tequilas is a nice chain restaurant around the Hampton Roads/ VA where they serve you some of the basic Hispanic food. Nonetheless, it was good. We had the Happy Sampler, which included elotes, wings (lol), flautas, and quesadillas. Elote was delicious, but the others were lackluster 8/10 The tacos were also overpriced! Each taco was about 4-6 dollars. Normal Mexican taquerias would charge about half that price. We got the pastor, scallops, and chorizo. There's just something about a nice cheap taco that adds flavor. Anyway, margarita flight was awesome. Don't expect much when you go, but this is a safe choice for people who has never gone to a Mexican restaurant lmao read more

I stopped by on my way to Target, they had a sign on the door saying they could only accept cash due to some issues. I had adequate cash by chance and went in. I think there was more staff than customers. I guess not accepting cards was hurting the normal crowd on a taco Tuesday. It took quite a while for my server to come by the table. I was nearly ready to leave. But the server was great once they got there. Food came out super quickly too. Their michelada was good with an interesting rim of spices, salt, and that tamarind syrup. My Mexican rice was also tasty and fresh with a small selection of vegetables in it. The tostada was so-so. There were no beans on the base, instead the shredded chicken was really wet and watery. The shredded romaine and sparse tomatoes were tasteless, even though they were fresh. It wasn't bad, just lacking a lot of flavor. Cheese wouldn't have helped. I also tried a side dish of pineapples with taijin spice. It was so good!! It was a nice portion that would be a great dessert. I ate way too much of it and my mouth is sore from the acid now. This visit was not their normal, so I won't hold it against them. read more

Dinner tonight was amazing, the staff and food was incredible! We will be back! Thank you so much!

While visiting VA Beach, my group wanted Mexican and my cousin recommended Jose Tequila's. She said it was her favorite and that made me a little nervous! She is a picky eater and doesn't like much, but she raves about this place. When we arrived we were greeted and sat immediately. I did learn about this white salsa that is only specific to that region. I ordered the steak fajitas. It was a large portion. Plenty for leftovers later. They were great. I also enjoyed the beans and rice. All the plates looked delish. I was satisfied. I would go back and try something different next time. read more

Large parking lot. Clean. Restaurant was busy. Plenty of seats. Service was prompt. Wait staff is very kind. We ordered beef fajitas and 2Chicken enchiladas beans and rice. Food was ok. The beef fajitas really didn't have seasoning. We had lime margaritas. The tequila,in the drink, gave me a headache. So I have a extensive knowledge of tequila. Blanco, Resposado, Anejo, and Mezcals. Jose Tequila's is more than a Mexican restaurant. They know the selection of alcohols, especially the tequila's. They have specials every night of the week. I went on Wednesday for $3 dollar beer and $4 dollars tequila shots. I got a huge $24 dollar burrito that had to be a foot in a half maybe more and thick. It came with chicken and steak, filled with veggies, beans, and rice, with cheese with sour cream. Saying the burrito is big does it no justice. I literally had to eat this thing over two days, lol. read more

Fast forward to now... Food: Chicken was overly seasoned and dry. The rice was way off it lasted like frozen reheated rice no flavor. The salad tasted off as well. The server was polite but seemed like he'd rather not be in the mix of a Friday night dinner rush. The table area was cold I had to put my coat on. The bathroom was colder. Ok! First off I am a Jose Tequila regular...well I was..I like their food which is why I'm shocked at my experience on a Saturday at about 545. The servers we're moving so fast to get you in and out it was nerve wrecking. They rush to put the tortilla bowl on the table (and the tortillas were stale-never had that happen before-)and take it off.. they rush with the drinks... the food! I get it ...but dang! I came to have a drink and relax. What really bothered me was how THEY USE THEIR BARE HANDS TO PUT THE FRUIT AND STRAW IN YOUR DRINK!!! But wait, I saw the server at the bar touch the dust pan then immediately went back to putting straws and fruit in drinks!!! (He was at the bar other servers saw and were doing it too) In all fairness this not my usual experience... I was grossed out!!! I'm bummed.. read more
