Carne Asada Fries Burrito

Friendly staff, great location and good salsa and chips. Large portion sizes and extensive menu. Adult beverages are on the larger size and served in cool glasses. We had a great time! Only negatives are the music is super loud and parking can be sometimes difficult to get in out of the awkward shaped parking lot.

We stopped by mainly because I was craving their salsa blanca dip, which they seem to only have in Virginia. This location was convenient since we just left the Oceanfront and it was only a short drive getting there. I know they've expanded to several locations over the past few years, but the original spot off Princess Anne Rd, is still my favorite. There's just something about the vibe there - it feels more authentic and relaxed compared to the newer ones. For my meal, I ordered the al pastor and carne asada tacos. They were pretty standard and overloaded with cilantro. Asides from that, the flavor was good enough for a casual lunch. The star of the show were the margaritas which set our meal over the top and had a really nice kick to it! Overall, it's a laid-back, place. Even with all their new locations, the original still hits differently, and I'll definitely be back again soon.

Large Sunday lunch party. Enjoyed outdoor seating with chips and salsa; not a fan of overly sweet white sauce. Lunch menu was above average price for lower than average quality/portions compared to other Mexican restaurants we frequent. Check out El Azteca in Norfolk or La Hacienda in Chesapeake. Our sons loved getting tortilla shells with Arros con pollo ($16, 3/5 stars). Wife liked her burrito bowl ($15, 3.5/5 stars). Service was good considering our 12 person group size.

Canitas!!

The carnitas were not as "done" as usual. The deep fried flavor is what I have come to LOVE and expect. Not there this evening. Sadly. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. I hope this is just an anomaly.

This was maybe our third or fourth time ordering from this location. It was extremely tough getting through to them on the phone. But after about five tries I got through and was able to order. The taste of the food was very good, however it was completely sloppy and out of place. We don't live far and we were careful in transporting so I feel it was just put together quickly. For the prices I try not to purchase from here for Mexican food but bc it's the closest to us we do it every once in while. This review is solely about to go orders. We have not sat inside to eat.

Me and my coworkers often come to this establishment to hang out in the outside patio area to eat, drink, and play our board games. And I tell you the people here at Las Palmas put up with us! Nicest people ever. There are some good food and drinks here as well. To start they make their own fresh guacamole dip in front of you table side. How great is that? My entree of choice is the Sizzling Steak and Shrimp Fajita. That hits all the right spots after a long day at work. From what my coworkers tell me the Strawberry Margarita is amazing. I really am simple and just drink Coronas so I'll definitely take their word for it. There are so many options on their menu you really can't go wrong. Most items are around $16-$20 which is fair considering how well everything is cooked and the portion you are getting in your meal. Margaritas range anywhere from small to Mega size. So definitely come out here with an appetite because you'll need it!

Molcajete

Went with a group of friends and had an amazing time! We started by sharing the queso fundido and really enjoyed it. The cheese was bubbling and it had lots of chorizo. I had the Molcajete as my main and it is probably my new favorite Mexican dish! It had so many meats: shrimp, steak, chicken and smoked sausage. It also had fried stuffed jalapeños. I really enjoyed the nopales, grilled cactus, which were similar to green peppers, but had more of a tangy taste. The best part was that all of the above was sitting a bed of warm melted cheese. Service was also excellent. Our server was very helpful and the food came out so fast. Highly recommend!

My daughter and I thought we would branch out from our usual favorite Mexican food... and we sadly regretted our decision. The atmosphere is typical "Mexican " decor. The service was slow -

The food was very good. service was decent, we were seated outside in their large outside dining space Ordered: Chicken lettuce wraps They were so good but so messy

So I've had take out from this location and I've dined in, I will say I probably preferred the take out. Take out was ready promptly and pick up was super easy. The food is very good, pretty typical stuff for a Mexican restaurant in Hampton Roads. You get bottomless chips, salsa, and white sauce. They put us in a very small booth that didn't give us a ton of room, but it was fine. The wait staff were very friendly but we had to wait quite a while for our drinks and then for our food to come out. The quesabirria was very good, but the tortilla was just a bit soggy :/ Everyone else really loved their food - they got the fajitas and a chicken torta. The restaurant was very very loud also with lots of singing, so if that's not your thing maybe avoid this spot :D

A spur of the moment decision to get Mexican food had us here at Las Palmas 3 one night around 9pm. The restaurant was quite busy and noisy upon our arrival, but the staff were in great spirits and quickly took our orders. My boyfriend ordered a jumbo lime margarita which was strong ! He enjoyed it. He drank it while we waited for our meals to come out - and we munched on the chips, dips, and queso. The chips always came out piping hot and the cheese dip was tasty with a bit of spice. I also enjoyed their white sauce! Our meals - his Burrito Grande, a cheese-smothered burrito stuffed with shrimp and peppers, and my 3 shrimp tacos topped with cabbage and pico with 3 tasty dips (I wasn't really sure what they were, but they were spicy!) - came out after about 20 minutes, which was decent timing given the volume of patrons at the restaurant. He loved the burrito - the shrimp was cooked perfectly and it was all around very flavorful and filling. My shrimp tacos were pretty good - I got guacamole salad to top my tacos with lettuce and other non-traditional toppings and a side of sour cream which was a generous size. The tacos themselves were pretty small. They were pretty good but pricey as well. Honestly, everything was pretty expensive. Overall, this was a pretty good experience as they were open, close-by, and the service was great. I may only find myself here again if it's the only option, though.

(Sorry for the side pic) this was the lunch chicken fajita burrito in a cheese sauce. Loved it!

The food tasted great and the service was good but Montezuma's revenge shortly afterward made me decide to not go back.

Some restaurants make you wait for a smaller table, so it was nice that they didn't do that here. It took about 15 minutes for someone to come take our initial drink order, which was a little slow, but service moved smoothly after that with no long waits for food or additional drinks. For appetizers, we ordered the chicharrón botanero, which was delicious and perfectly crispy. Just a heads up: it's pork belly, so it's definitely on the fattier side. If you enjoy rich, crispy pork, you'll love it, but if fatty meat isn't your thing, this might not be the dish for you. For drinks, we had a flavored margarita and a mojito, and both were strong and very good. I ordered the chicken fajita taco salad. The flavor was good and the chicken was well seasoned, but there was barely any actual lettuce, which was a little disappointing since I was expecting more of a true salad. Overall, good food, strong drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere. A couple small service and balance issues kept it from being a full five stars, but I'd still come back.

The owners are great and the two bartenders working handled all of us, they worked really hard as I am sure we were a little overwhelming. Andi the owner decorated for my hubby's birthday and it was awesome. Love their food especially the Margarita bites and Shrimp tacos. The drinks were good and kept coming. Happy hour was 3-6pm I think, and there were 2 taco specials on the board. I'm not sure if it was valid or not.. There was one person at the bar taking orders, serving drinks, and pretty much running the place. She was very busy. The anxiety of watching her try to handle everything made me a little uncomfortable. She was doing her best, and kuddos to her for not flipping a table and walking out. She was nice, but she asked us every 3-4 minutes if we knew what we were ordering. It was very aggravating. I don't think she realized after several times we were over it. The inside is pretty much a bar setting with a few booths. It's very dated and low-key kind of gloomy inside. I'd say this is a bar for locals, not really a restaurant. It's definitely the kind of food you could eat if you had a few drinks, maybe. But sober, heck no!! Lol. Ugh. I was excited to try them because they have some 5 star reviews, but it wasn't what I expected. When it was time to eat she went and got the cook from outside. We ordered 2 burgers and fries, and chicken nachos. We left and came back to pick up our order and the seats at the bar was packed at this point. The waitress met us as we walked in, with our food. I was hungry, so I tried the food in the car. The burger was definitely a frozen patty and thick as heck. It looked decent kinda sorta, in a way, maybe, just a little bit. Idk what to say. The fries were crispy but awkwardly greasy!! There was one tiny tomato on my burger and a huge onion that was a little moldy. I've never seen someone use a slice of onion this big on a burger. The burger definitely needed seasoning. I think if it had flavor it would have been decent. I'll give the burger a 4/10. My sister got the chicken nachos and she was not happy. Whatever mystery beans they had made were disgusting. They tasted old or something was off about them. The guacamole was a little sour tasting also, and the chicken was flavorless. She tried so hard to make it work, she even re-cooked the beans and it just didn't help. 2/10!!! She spent $25 and felt it was the worse decision she made all day. I wish I was exaggerating or something, but this is actual factual. The prices are reasonable, I'll say that. But it's definitely certain things to stay away from on the menu. I don't think we'd ever return. Maybe the tacos are better than what we had ordered. If you're looking for a drink maybe things would be better. I think they specialize in drinks over food!?

I did get a picture of the reason I came here which was the soft serve margarita. It was pineapple flavored so tasted exactly like a dope whip with alcohol 10/10. Was pretty loud in there with a birthday, multiple large parties and the o all round business of cinco de mayo. There were three birthdays that the crew went over and sang an enthusiastic happy birthday for, so it may be a popular place to host a birthday party (not sure if the shots of tequila were free for the b-day guest). The tacos and margarita weren't anything crazy (not quite a Cali street taco) but I asked for fresh jalapeños and hot sauce (made in house) and it put the finishing touches on my dinner. I'll try a few other places while I'm in town, but Jalisco is my front runner so far.
