This place is pretty solid. Every time I eat here I'm impressed with the cleanliness. Everyone is friendly and welcoming and the service is spot on. Today my husband and I wanted a quick lunch and both got one of their lunch specials. I told my waiter that I'm a vegetarian and immediately he recommended my meal. When I asked him to leave the mushrooms off, without me asking he suggested other vegetables to substitute. My quesadilla was bursting with flavor and overflowing with vegetables. It was really delicious and my husband enjoyed his meal as well. The only thing he said was that it could have used a bit more cheese. It's definitely worth a visit for both food and vibe. read more

I stopped in last week for a quick bite and accidentally found this spot. I've been coming to this shopping center for years and never knew El Taco Loco was there. I was greeted by the most welcoming woman named Anna. The restaurant wasn't crowded but it was clear that everyone inside is a regular. I wasn't very hungry so I just ordered two Tacos El Ribeye. Surprised after it had been a while they remodeled a bit with cute booths, new lighting highlighting the updates, and a new sombrero ceiling. Looks great! The fresh guacamole tastes great and served in a really cool way. They also provide the white sauce and salsa with chips if you ask. My husband ordered a steak which tasted really good. I had the brisket tacos and roasted avocado with Picodegallo. We also had the burger that was filling and made perfectly. Everything tasted great. Service is pretty prompt and seated right away. Nice find! Carne asada at most places is thin, this place offered a thicker cut. It was well seasoned and the portion sizes were great. The chips and salsa was good. Not overly chunky or spicy. And it came out fairly quickly. We did have to flag someone down to get more salsa, but once we did, they brought another bowl right out. They don't have any beer on tap, which is a bit of a disappointment. But it's a solid place. I look forward to going back. read more

Then 3 orders were wrong and called to return for refund they said no could get lunch again. No thanks for any businesses that are close do not order there. I am a local. I frequent ElTaco Loco on a regular basis, however the service is just going down hill. They have stopped serving the white sauce unless you ask about 3 times for it. Last night my husband went in to get chips and salsa with white sauce to go. The larges sauces are $10 each, throw in some taxes and a "to go" fee for a total of about $25. So decent sizes sauces... and then a tiny bag of chips (tiny .. because the chips are "free" with the sauces). This is a new cut back. Normally the bag size is decent, but this chip bag size is ridiculous. I am attaching a pic. So I said something to the man working there. That the chips are not enough.. not what they normally do. He argues with me. He tells me that is the size they use. He then goes to the back to the kitchen and I think he is gonna make it right by giving me more chips to eat with my large sauces. He comes back with another bag of large red sauce , large white sauce and a tiny bag of chips and tells me it will be $25. Hahaha. No thank you El Taco Loco. You are Loco alright. You can't increase prices and give less and expect your regulars to keep coming back. Time to find a new Mexican place. read more

I guess it's been awhile since my 1st review and there have been some changes. They did a remodel and have these super cute private booths all decorated with lights and pillows. Loved it!! I am not sure if it's new management but things were definitely different. We got off to a rough start with service. The server didn't seem very friendly but in her defense I was watching things and it seemed like she was the only employee in the building other than the cooks. She sat me, waited on me and made my drinks. It seems that other servers showed up about 30 minutes after I got there. They do have a HH. I believe until 6 and it's on Margaritas only. We ordered the queso and we each only got 1 taco. The queso was good. So was the chips and salsa. The salsa had lots of flavor and tasted fresh. My fish taco was packed full of fish. They did not skimp. And it was very good. Ana was our waitress and she was so damn friendly. She was so nice, asked us if we wanted more chips, checked on us and all with a smile and great attitude. I didn't see the big bowls that they used for table side guac. The place definitely felt different than it did years ago. While the food is very good, I actually prefer my Chili Rellenos made with cheese only on the inside, and then fried in a tempura-like batter. These had a meaty cheesy filling that, although tasty enough, were not what I like in the dish. Also, my burrito and enchilada seemed like they simply rolled the meat into the flour tortillas, then spread some sauce over them. Again, I like more than just dry meat in my food, so I'll be more careful to read the description BEFORE ordering! My wife's Burrito Grande was AWESOME, tasty, and more than a little filling!! And, saving the best for last, both the Fried Ice Cream AND the Churros were EXCELLENT -- our main purpose for coming here in the first place. read more

Updated. April 20, 2020 This was our favorite Mex restaurant back when we could dine in, often going after church. So we decided to try the takeout method in our new normal world... We orders fajitas for 2, 2 combo meals, chili rellanos. I ordered on the phone, from their parking lot, and it was all ready in 10 minutes. That was impressive. Or was it? We took it home after a 20 minute drive. It was lukewarm to room temperature, at best by then. That's not their fault, just saying if you need to drive it home to eat, consider a cooler or something. Now, the food all tasted GOOD. A bag of chips and salsa, red and white sauces included. But the portions were half what they would have been dining in. This was disappointing, because in this time of struggle and no dining in, struggling economy, I believe the restaurants should DOUBLE THEIR EFFORTS to make and keep loyal customers, vieing for customers, and should be really trying to KNOCK THEIR SOCKS OFF. I would think. Instead, it was a pretty "Meh" experience. Like I said, all our dishes were complete and tasted good. But the portion size made it all "Meh" to the point we all agreed not to do takeout there again. That's what I'm talking about. Some friends and I met for dinner here on a Sunday late afternoon. They were pretty busy but since my friends got there first, I didn't have to wait. As soon as I sat down, our server came over and asked me for my drink order. We all ordered and our food was delivered to us in 10 minutes or so. It was delicious! I had the enchiladas Mary y Tierra and it made my mouth so happy! I also had an avocado salad that was very good. The dressing was great! I can't remember what my girls had but it looked great also. Live down the street and have been frequenting taco loco for years. Bought a Groupon and treated my sister to dinner last week and the waitress said "oh the owner isn't allowing Groupons anymore." Even though it says it expires in Jan 2024?!!!! I wouldn't have spent 50 bucks there if my 40$ Groupon would've been arbitrarily "not accepted"!!!! So now I'm out of the $ I spent on the Groupon???? Amazing place for dinner with authentic delicious appetizers and main courses. We had taken our friend here for dinner and paint night for her belated Birthday celebration. It was great! The service was fast and friendly, and the food outstanding! The interior was nicely appointed in the traditional Mexican style, very warm and inviting with lively background music to lift your mood! The food came quickly, which was nice because we were quite hungry! They made a point of checking on us from time to time, which was nice! Overall, a great dining experience and a great place to converse and congregate with friends for a fun time! We painted cardinals on a snowy day, so very apropos given the time of year! El Taco Loco has been on my radar for the last few weeks after seeing stellar reviews come across from Yelp friends. I have been looking for a really good Mexican place for a while. It seems that my old go to places are going down hill. So how excited was I today to be in the area and give it a test drive. Once I finally located it way off VB Blvd beside Harris Teeter and off Little Neck Rd. I almost had an accident. My car had a mind of it's own and insisted on redirecting my final destination to Braise, However, I overpowered the steering wheel and went a couple hundred feet around the corner and parked. I had no idea this taco joint was even here, let alone that such good buzz had been spreading around town. I arrived around 12:30 PM and the lot was not too busy. The parking area had some debris, but it was a really gusty day and can excuse it. I noticed an out door seating area that was closed with the cool windy conditions. I was ready to enter and starved. When entering the door I was immediately greeted by my waiter. A bar is right inside the door and I saw some real yummy looking margaritas ready to be served. Darn, this would not be the day to try one, maybe next time if the meal lived up to expectations. I saw seven TV's in and around the bar/dining area. The eating area was pretty much empty with only a few customers. Everything looked spotless... every table cleaned and cleared, as well the floor was completely free of trash. The waiter seated me and provided a menu. Hot chips and salsa followed by a junior waiter who was over the top nice and welcoming. Two kinds of salsa white and red. I tried both and usually do prefer the white, but red good too. Oh, the chips were so good and there seemed like a million of them in this big basket. It did not take me long when the waiter came back to order the $5.99 lunch special... #5 a Beef Burrito, Beef Taco and rice. I was not expecting a lot for this price so I ate away at the delicious chips. Within 10 minutes my very hot plate came out. Visually is looked scrumptious. Steam was roaring off the plate and before I knew it the dish was all mine to enjoy. Where to start, no detailed instructions, no road map with this bad boy. I tried a little of each at the beginning and found all just incredibly tasty. But I ended up eating the taco first. It had such an awesome crispy shell and was filled with beef, lettuce and tomato. It would end up being my favorite part of the meal. I am not a big fan of rice, but believe me when I say it was solid. The burrito was large, flavored nice, but not too spicy. The meal was quality in every way. The waiter checked on me once and provided a drink refill. I was not high maintenance today and wanted left alone with this huge plate of Mexican goodness. It took a while and I struggled a bit, but prevailed after about twenty minutes. I never had a chance with the chips, as good as they were just too many for one man to devour. However, the plate was clean and I anticipate a few notches off the belt may need to be loosened tomorrow. This is not a meal I would endorse for lunch every day. But whoa, would I ever love to not have to worry about blowing up and trying all the specials in one week... WARNING!!!! don't do this or suffer the consequences. I hit the restroom up prior to paying the bill and found it tidy. I took a little look around and saw a large second room for big parties, or over flow. The check was at the table as I requested and the amount was correct and under $7. Seriously, this much food, the service was awesome and atmosphere comfortable. What more I ask could any customer want.. Well, I did try to find a secret passage over to Bobby's Braise for desert, but to no avail. I will come back and want to bring family and friends to check this place out. RECOMMEND HIGHLY if you are in the area swing by and you too will see what all the YELP is about. read more

Welcome to Taco Loco aka Grease city (read review to see why). The restaurant was not a great start from the go. Walking in with nearly 4 staff to our right we oddly stood there waiting to be sat. A staff finally said hello and annoyingly sat us down. Sorry to have bothered you when we came in. The decor was oddly red and orange, are we in a Cauldron? What's up with the dark room in the back? Staff rolling up silverware .. it looked a little creepy. As staff kept walking back there to hang out. The menu was interestingly laid out. Fresh chicken with a description that reads are you on a diet? Um that's interesting. Mexican burger. . Sloppy Joe. . the descriptions were too long. I found myself scanning to the essentials. I ordered the chori*pollo, a classic I'm aware of eating along with an avacado salad. That sounded good. The chips were good and the salsa was good but needed to be a bit chunkier. The avacado salad came out , looked good but was oily tasting. The salad was oddly too cold. Yes, too cold to eat -was it sitting in the fridge? I had only 4 bites and couldn't stomach it. I put the salsa cup to the side, no refill given. The food came out, the chicken was so drenched in grease. I almost gave out my heart looking at it. It was SO greasy I needed one of the tortillas to soak it up. The rice was ok, beans tasted dry. The widest part was that instead of salsa or seasoning at the table was hand sanitizer from the dollar tree. That was odd. read more
