Rancho Grande has been a staple in my life for as long as I can remember. Even though I no longer live in the area I always make it a point to have a meal here while I'm in town. Besides the memories I've had here, the friendly staff and delicious food keep me coming back. My favorites are the fajitas and the burrito loco. The guacamole and Chile relleno are just okay. I love the chips because they are served warm without a lot of salt which I like because I'm watching my sodium intake. My sons experienced their very first deep fried ice cream here and now they are hooked. If you are in the mood for a good meal in a cozy environment check them out. read more

This was our first experience here at this location and I must say we were disappointed. The customer service was subpar at best. No warm friendly servers AT ALL. The food lacked taste, the portions were small, and it didn't look appeasing. To top it all off the restaurant was very dimly lit and the fixtures and decor is extremely outdated. 0 out of 10 would not recommend visiting. Especially when there are at least 5 restaurants in a 5 mile radius that serve the the same items with a much better experience!!! read more

I hadn't eaten at Rancho Grande in several years as it is quite a ways from where I live. Nothing has changed! The food was the best Mexican food I have had in years, the service was perfect, the price was right, and the atmosphere is exactly what you would expect. Some girlfriends and I got together at Rancho Grande on a Wednesday evening. Around 9:00 pm, the place was mostly empty considering they close at 10. I ordered the classic Nachos, one of us ordered a side of beans to enjoy with the chips, and 3 others ordered Classic Margaritas with salt (I am a sugar rim lady). All the margs were finished by the end of our time together, which told me they were yummy! Our nachos were tasty but the chips were pretty soggy. We ended up supplementing with the table chips. The white sauce at this restaurant is DIVINE. If you are from the DMV, you know you need a good white sauce (not queso!!!) with your chips and salsa. This one is tangy, salty and sweet, creamy, and downright delicious. I'd come back here just for the chips and salsa! The salsa was smokey tasting, and just needed a hint of salt. I loved the decorations the restaurant had everywhere - the colorful crepe paper definitely brought in the right vibes. Everything seemed clean and taken care of. It was a good experience! read more

First, the service was very good. I use to love this place but after yesterday I don't think I'll be back. We had a table of 13 and all of us thought it was crappy. I especially didn't like the black hair in my white sour cream on top of my meal. Waiter had to have seen it. Chicken nachos..chicken, chips, lettuce, sour cream and guacamole. No nothing else. Food wise, they never disappoint. But their service simply sucks. They act like bringing extra white sauce Is a crime. I typically get Texas fajitas, but wanted to try something a little different. So I went with whatever I got. LOL It had more meat on it than the typical fajitas, was cheaper and had the same everything else. It was really good, seasoned perfectly & served hot. I also ended up getting a patron margarita & I'm not sure if it was heaven sent but it was $18. I thought it would have me growing wings by the time I laugh but I walked out like a normal person. We went on the hunt for some authentic Flan which is like a custard but it has a delicious caramelized flavor to it. If we were only rating the Flan, the rating would have been much higher. We also ordered a steak quesadilla which came with sides of guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream and a bed of lettuce. The portion size for the quesadilla was very good - a large tortilla stuffed with steak, onions and cut into 4 large triangles. As an appetizer, it was enough for 2 to share. The steak was a bit tough and had no flavor except what was borrowed from the onions cooked on the grill with it. It tastes like they used some sort of liquid cheese as the tortilla shell got soaked through and soggy very quickly. We are used to eating quesadillas that have lots of gooey, REAL cheese inside of it; the kind that stretches like a well-made pizza! This quesadilla was more like a soggy noodle. The guacamole was very disappointing. It had the consistency of baby food straight from a Gerber jar. The tomatoes in the pico de gallo were a bit soft and tangy, like they were about to go bad. The sour cream tastes like it was a powder with water mixed into it, not the rich, creamy Mexican sour cream we are used to. The only other good thing about the food, aside from the Flan, were the fresh, hot chips. They paired well with the spicy salsa served with them. The service was friendly and fast. I just wish the food met up to the service and the nice ambiance. read more

This is quiet literally the worst freaking Mexican place around here!! I swear every single time I have ordered from here THEY GET SOMETHING WRONG. I have to check my order throughly. This used to be our whole extended family's "getting" place though due to other issues we haven't been in some years w everyone. Husband and I went on Monday afternoon around 2. They were fairly slow. Maybe 3 or 4 other tables when we got there. I know mid-day (between lunch and dinner) is usually downtime at most Mexican restaurants, but service was a bit slow. I used to adore their carne asada tacos, esp the sauce that comes with but this time the beef seemed off. Had no flavor as if not seasoned but at the same time got hints here and there of maybe fish? Idk. Beans were excellent. Beer was good. Cheese dip - can never go wrong. The included chips were superbly crisp and sauces were banging but I won't be rushing to pay $14.99 for my usually favorite tacos anytime soon. read more

The food here is a couple of cuts above most other Mexican/Tex-Mex sp9ot in The area, the salsa, and fried beans are fresher and are clearly home made. I had the flank steak, my dining partner had the pork carnitas, and both were amazing! Really, it's as if they came out of a family kitchen. Food is greasy and plated without flare. It's true my heart for sit-down Mexican restaurants belongs to another, but I try to be as unbiased as possible. I can't comments on any drinks here, just food. That said, one of my fav things to order at Mexican restraints is carnitas! I was disappointed... Ranch Grande served me mainly globs of fat. Fat on pork is a fact of life, but either spend 2 seconds trimming it off, or use a better cut of meat. I want to say almost half of my serving of Carnitas was fat. At least it was moist? The steak quesadilla on their signature menu I reluctantly have to admit, is delicious. But the fried tortilla and sheer amount of oil that comprise it might make for some wicked indigestion and regrets later. 3/5 because they're not the worst, but I probably won't be back just based on personal preference. read more

Had another meal here today... Obviously not my first choice but it's close to where the date works and she likes the place. There was no crowd there at noon today. You would think think everything would be perfect... It wasn't. Our server was friendly enough to start, but then pretty much disappeared after taking our order. Again, there's no crowd, everything is laid back... We were her only customer. She still got my order wrong. I ordered 3 taco's, no lettuce, add tomato's. They brought me a giant burrito instead and had to get that corrected. My dates order was correct. We never got refills on our drinks, in fact we didn't see her again until she eventually brought us the check... I don't think I'll be visiting again. read more

Rancho Grande is very close to my work, so I've been there a few times. Usually I just call in an order but I have been in to eat twice as well. The service there is very quick, I can call it in and five minutes later it's ready. Service takes a little bit longer if you go there and eat, but not by too much. The food is pretty typical, white and red sauce with the tortilla chips (I do really like their white sauce) and different lunch combos or dinner combos to choose from. If I didn't work so close to this place I probably wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. read more

This is one of my favorite Mexican restaurant! I've been coming here for years. Staff is always friendly. Food always hot and consistent. I think they have the best homemade salsa around. I had Mexican for lunch today and when I came home Hubby wanted Mexican food for dinner. Great ...so back to Mexican I go. But this time I was able to get a Margarita! I love their drinks. It's not too strong that it will burn your throat when you drink but it can creep up on you. I'm not a drinker, so for me it doesn't take much. The drink is like a perfect blend of liquor and happiness. Happy hour special for a small was $4. With the chip and dip and my margarita that's all I needed tonight! read more
