Asada plate with grilled onions along with beans and rice. Fresh guacamole with jalapeños!

This place has awesome food! And their margaritas are delicious! That staff is very friendly and make you feel welcomed. The place is very clean and well maintained. My only complaint would be that the restaurant feels more western than it does Mexican but it won't stop me from coming back.

white sauce and what's left of our nachos
Morgan L.

Some girlfriends and I got together at Rancho Grande on a Wednesday evening. Around 9:00 pm, the place was mostly empty considering they close at 10. I ordered the classic Nachos, one of us ordered a side of beans to enjoy with the chips, and 3 others ordered Classic Margaritas with salt (I am a sugar rim lady). All the margs were finished by the end of our time together, which told me they were yummy! Our nachos were tasty but the chips were pretty soggy. We ended up supplementing with the table chips. The white sauce at this restaurant is DIVINE. If you are from the DMV, you know you need a good white sauce (not queso!!!) with your chips and salsa. This one is tangy, salty and sweet, creamy, and downright delicious. I'd come back here just for the chips and salsa! The salsa was smokey tasting, and just needed a hint of salt. I loved the decorations the restaurant had everywhere - the colorful crepe paper definitely brought in the right vibes. Everything seemed clean and taken care of. It was a good experience!

Lunch special #6 fried chimichanga with beans

Fried Beans Mexican Rice

Food wise, they never disappoint. But their service simply sucks. They act like bringing extra white sauce Is a crime. I typically get Texas fajitas, but wanted to try something a little different. So I went with whatever I got. LOL It had more meat on it than the typical fajitas, was cheaper and had the same everything else. It was really good, seasoned perfectly & served hot. I also ended up getting a patron margarita & I'm not sure if it was heaven sent but it was $18. I thought it would have me growing wings by the time I laugh but I walked out like a normal person. Oh well better luck next time.

I forgot that I ordered delicious beef nachos from them about a year ago as well. The portions for both nachos and enchiladas are enough for a filling meal, and the order was fulfilled as requested. I've been to the restaurant briefly some time ago as well, and it's a pleasant staff and experience. It is quite convenient off Mount Pleasant Road and Centerville Turnpike, so if you're in area check it out. **I forgot to take pictures but I will update this review when I order from them again!**

It was a busy work day, so less noise is always appreciated. Our server Eduardo G. was friendly and attentive. The chips were fresh, along with the large bowl of salsa and smaller bowl of white sauce. The draft beers were cold. We enjoyed our dinner orders of the Enchiladas Supremas and Chori Pollo. We had plenty to take home for another meal since the servings were a good size. This location of Los Primos in the Mt Pleasant Shopping Center in Chesapeake is family friendly and has lively music playing at a low-moderate volume. We like the service and atmosphere, and we appreciate that we don't have to shout across the table when we're enjoying dinner and conversation.

We were surprised by the wonderful Mariachi band playing. The food is consistently good here and because of that, they are often busy, so you have to be prepared to wait for a table. Thhe service is on point! The Ambiance is on point! The attentiveness the drinks I cannot complain! I'm a margarita girl and the Margaritas here did not disappoint especially their Ranch Water. My favorite here is the classic quesadilla and you can choose your own protein. The first time I chose chicken and this last time which was on Sunday I chose the shrimp and added some fresh jalapenos... divine! My husband loves the fajita tacos I think that's going to be his go-to meal When We Dine here. The parking not an issue at all plenty of parking it does get busy around 6:30 7:30 on the weekend and on Wednesday which is 899 fajita nights. Now I will admit you on this night in particular I did get the steak fajitas I wasn't a fan of them but I still tore them up! The quantity that you get for 899 super super duper:] So pack your patience if you come on one of the busy nights. Today being Tuesday as I'm typing this review it's Taco Tuesday so tacos are a dollar and 50 Cent after 5:00 p.m. so I'm sure this night is going to be busy. Nevertheless it's worth visiting and priced just right! Have fun and enjoy life :)

Now we knew we were trying it by coming in so late and kind of close to closing time, so we were by no means making a fuss about what would or would not be available. Our waiter was very nice (albeit a bit awkward), but we were able to order quickly and in true good Mexican food restaurant fashion, the food came out quickly as well. It was all fresh and quite good (I believe I ordered street tacos and my friend ordered birria tacos). Missed opportunity for them not having sauces on the table, but also understanding that a) it was late, and b) all Mexican restaurants don't do this, especially if they are not a taqueria or another spot that focuses on tacos. The ambiance was fine, nothing special, but it felt nice in there. The seats weren't too close together, and even the booths had quite a bit of room, so that was nice. It was also all a good price, in my opinion! I would definitely go back to this spot, and honestly I'm kind of curious to know if it's different at different times of the day (Saturday afternoon/evening vs. a weekday/night).

Waiter was quick to bring us chips and salsa and also take our drink orders. I tried their large Midnight Margarita (10/10) I loved the flavor and it was STRONG! For food, I was craving steak, and saw Steak El Amigo (10/10) on the menu. It was very flavorful, tender, seasoned, cooked exactly how I wanted it, and more than enough food for me. The steak was topped with cheese sauce, shrimp, fajita vegetables, peppers, and mushrooms. Also came with a side of rice and beans and tortillas. Def my new go to spot for sure. We were sat immediately around 630 on a Friday evening. We received chips and dips before I could even sit down! Our server promptly greeted us and drinks were ready within minutes. So far, so good. For dinner, hubby had the Vegetarian E which came with a burrito, quesadilla and chalupa, daughter had the kids quesadilla with beans and I initially selected the shrimp bowl. Our food took about 15 minutes. Both quesadillas were barely warm and the cheese wasn't even melted. The refried beans were loaded with red pepper and too spicy for my child. My shrimp bowl was overwhelmed by cheese and aioli that I couldn't stomach it. Our server kindly let me order something else so I selected the shrimp taco salad. It arrived shortly thereafter but was also so greasy it made my stomach turn. 2 stars just for service. 0 for food. Overall, this meal was an unfortunate waste of $50.

We started the night with drinks: I went for a cold Modelo, while my friends both ordered margaritas, and wouldn't stop raving about how good they were! For appetizers, we shared the Union Trio! Fire roasted tomato salsa, creamy guacamole, and queso served with crisp tortilla chips. All three were fresh and delicious, a great way to kick off the meal. For my main, I mixed things up with a taco trio! Carne Asada (marinated steak, onion, queso fresco, avocado, cilantro), Chicken Tinga (marinated chicken, refried black beans, avocado, greens, queso fresco, cilantro) and Blackened Mahi (mezcal pickled onion, red cabbage, red pepper pico, chipotle sauce, cilantro). The blackened mahi was my hands down favorite. It was super flavorful with just the right amount of heat. My friends tried some awesome dishes too! One had the Coconut Curry Mahi (blackened mahi, jasmine rice, edamame succotash, with a rich coconut curry cream sauce) and the other had the Duck Confit Taco (with cherry salsa, pickled carrot salad, and cilantro-lime creme). Our waitress was phenomenal and definitely suggested great choices. If you're in the area and craving something a little more elevated than your average Mexican spot, Union is absolutely worth checking out. Great food, tasty drinks, and a stylish atmosphere!
