We lived in Virginia Beach more than 30 years ago and Pollard's was one of our favorite places to eat. We've talked about it in the years since we left so when we came to VA beach for vacation we had to fit in a trip. I was not disappointed. I brought my family and was worried it wouldn't be as wonderful as I remembered. I did not need to worry. Everything was perfect. The service. The food. Everything!! I will start by saying, I'm not a fan of the chicken at Pollards. Never have been. It has been years since I stepped foot in one after several bad experiences over several of their restaurants. Fast forward to now and I was really craving some Mac & Cheese, baked beans and cabbage. I found this Pollards had at least the Mac & beans, so I placed an order online. The staff was friendly, but I don't believe they pay attention to online orders, and don't start anything until you arrive. If you are in a rush, be prepared for about a 5 minute wait (depending on your order). Now to the sides. I got the Mac, beans and greens. I was just trying to kill a craving! This had no business being this doggone good! The greens were perfectly seasoned, the baked beans has great flavor and the Mac didn't disappoint. I know it was just sides, but I've already been back twice in the past few weeks...and they are constant! So, will I try the chicken at this location? Probably not. We are having a great relationship with these sides. I don't want to risk this relationship over some under cooked poultry. Don't let this sway your decision not to get the chicken. I never had the chicken from here, but I'm good with the sides. read more

This Pollard's Chicken is located at the corner of Great Neck Rd. and Virginia Beach Blvd. It is easiest to get to it from heading west on Virginia Beach Blvd. or south on Great Neck Rd. I have passed this place several times over the years but had never made it in here until then. My first visit here was around midday on December 31, 2021. There was parking available when I came in. However, there was quite a bit of traffic as there is a Starbucks pretty much next to this place and they were extremely busy that day. It can make it difficult at times when it is so busy there at the Starbucks. After taking an outside view of the place, I went inside. It wasn't too busy inside, and since I had looked at the menu online before coming in, I had an idea of what I was looking for. I went up to the counter and they were ready for me to order. I ended up going with the fried chicken with two breasts and two legs. For the sides, I chose the macaroni and cheese and mashed potatoes. The cost was similar to other fried chicken joints in the area. A few minutes after ordering and paying, one of the workers let me know that it would be about 15 minutes as they needed to cook some more chicken. Many of the other people waiting were delivery drivers for food delivery apps. Even though I didn't order a drink, they offered a drink cup to me for the wait. It's these little things like that that make things a bit better. After about ten minutes or so, my order was complete, and I was able to pick it up and head home to eat it. After getting home, I opened the box and it looked really good. It had everything I ordered in there. Even though it took a little while to get home, everything was still hot. All of the chicken there was really good, and it was tender and juicy too. The mashed potatoes and macaroni and cheese for sides were really good too. The puffs were good as well. Overall, I had a really good experience for my first visit to Pollard's Chicken. I am totally adding them to my list of places I will come back to. Next time, I think I am going to try the roasted chicken. If you're looking for a good, local chicken place, this place definitely fits the bill, and you should definitely cluck (check) them out. read more

I ordered some chicken to go as well as macaroni and cheese and green beans. I came back a second time a few days later and ordered some chicken livers for my mom. She loves chicken livers and was mad when Cracker Barrel stopped serving them. She LOVED these. I bought her a large and she ate them all. She said they were perfectly cooked and so tender and juicy. Idk anything about chicken livers, but she loved them and wants more. Our chicken was so juicy and delicious too. The thighs were my favorite, but the breasts were good too. We also loved the macaroni and cheese and green beans. The store is always clean and the employees are always friendly. The dessert in the case looks yummy too, so I can't wait to get some of that next time. read more

We catered Pollard's Chicken for my daughter's graduation party and it was a major hit. I've had Pollard's a few years ago and remembered it tasting great so I couldn't think of a better place to order chicken from. I called in the order about a week before the party for 80 pieces of chicken and they told me that the chicken would be ready on the day of the party by 2pm. Once the day came for pickup, I called to see if we could pick up the chicken earlier but since it was a graduation weekend and Father's Day weekend, they were very strict about the pick up time but apologized that they couldn't accommodate us, which I understood. We had family in town from different places and they ranted and raved over how great the chicken was. We made a few sides to go with the chicken but it was a definitely a major hit and I'm so glad we catered from Pollard's. read more

So if we are being honest it's been 6 years since I've been to pollards. Last time I went the location at centerville (now closed) and they were cleaning the grease trap which smelled like ass (and I was pregnant) and I couldn't even eat my food because I could smell it on the chicken . THE LONDON BRIDGE location however was not like that. The ladies in the front were gems! Super sweet. It didn't smell like booty in there and finally after 6 years I can have my occasional fried chicken craving. I will say this... just please fry your fries longer! Thank you so much! read more

London Bridge Pollards chicken is The WORST run branch, horrible service, with rude workers. Ordered a catering order 2 weeks in advance of a huge party, easily $300+ order, we were told to pick up the order at 3:30pm today, arrived and waited 50 minutes for the order to be done when they gave us a wait time of 25min. Not only this but the people beside us were asking for a refund for the catering items they were waiting on because they had also been waiting an obscene amount of time, when I asked the worker behind the counter she was condescending and then turned around and called me a bitch to her coworkers loud enough for me to hear, and then continued to talk badly about me so that not only could I hear but so could others in the restaurant, at this point I am dead silent because her behavior is abhorring, she then had an attitude after WE were waiting for near an hour, maybe hire some people who don't have blue and green dyed hair and someone with neck tattoos with nasty attitudes who feel it's appropriate to call their customers a bitch. I asked to speak to a manager who apparently is named Mary and the worker walked away and never came back with a manager. Avoid catering with this company We made a catering order on October 24 for October 28 by calling the main catering number. A gentleman answered and took our order. So far so good.... We called on October 27th to confirm and the a gentleman answered the phone and confirmed that our order would be ready at 1 pm at the Witchduck location. I arrived at the witchduck location at 12:50 and.... ... THEY DIDN'T HAVE MY ORDER OR ANY RECORD OF IT. The lady, who I'm assuming is the manager or the person in charge, called around to all the other locations and no one had any record. She even called the restuarant that was attached to the main catering office and they had no idea what in was talking about. I showed the lady at Witchduck my credit card statement that showed the money I spent. We were super excited for our baby's 1 year birthday party and this bummed us out. I had to wait at the store until they could remake my entire order. If you want food that you can't do without, dont cater from pollard's, the risk is too high (at least for us). I will say though, the lady that was managing the Witchduck location was helpful and saved the day - even if I did have to arrive at my first child's birthday party late and out of costume, and even if I had to walk 10 min cause all the guests took my parking (smh...), she still helped me bring the food. read more

After driving past this place for 4 years I finally decided to give it a try and... wow I have been missing OUT. this place is reasonably priced for a decent amount of food. We ordered the 2pc. snack and the tender snack specials that come with a vegetable, drink and Pollard's special "puff". This chicken... was so juicy and delicious I almost wished that I ordered the 20pc family meal for myself. Also, I'm not sure what the "puff" is, but it is delicious. Most chicken places give out biscuits but this is such a good alternative. As we ate inside, a ton of people came to pick up their ore-orders and catering items, I don't have any events coming up but I might just cater my next Netflix night! Stopped here for lunch on a whim, I'd never been to this particular location before. Overall my experience was okay, not great but not terrible. I stopped in after the afternoon lunch rush, there was one couple eating in and about 4 teenagers appearing to be going through some kind of register training, after a couple of minutes of making eyes contact with everyone ( in an attempt to place an order) a manager finally said we'll be with you in a moment, a couple of minutes later I placed a to go order. The wait was about ten minutes, kind of expected it to be faster given they were dead but maybe they made my order fresh?. Okay, the chicken is outstanding; we got a two-piece white dinner and a chicken liver dinner. They were hot, juicy, not greasy...fried chicken doesn't get any better. The "puffs" (fried biscuits) were light and good, but could have used some butter. But the sides... The coleslaw wasn't bad...but to be fair, we are very picky about coleslaw. The French fries were hot, nothing special. The corn pudding was a burnt, mushy mess. The fried apples had no flavor...needed sugar or cinnamon...and tasted as much like soft potatoes as apples. Will we be back? Yes, to take out chicken. Unless they have a big sign saying, "we've improved all of our sides," we will get sides elsewhere and never "eat in" again. read more

Went for a take out order so didn't get to spend a lot of time at the actual place but I'm sort of glad I didn't have to - it did not look very clean.. The young woman who helped me was really nice and patient enough to answer my newbie questions. She advised me to get 8 pieces of chicken and it would be enough for a party of five but since I wanted to be safe, I went with 12 (next option up). She was surprised to think I would eat more than one piece as she made a quick joke about how the chicken pieces were too much for me to handle. It took them about 5-10 minutes to have my order ready and I was out the door! AS for the chicken itself, it was pretty good, I have to say. Not kick your mom good, but good. The sides are great- mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, fried okra (awesome), all good stuff. The puffs are guilty pieces of fried heaven. Average at best. I was surprised at the taste of the fried chicken they serve. Farm Fresh Supermarket's fried chicken is 5 star and cheaper compared to this place. The sides are pretty average too... most of them taste like they come from a can. I expected better. Since they are not overly pricey, I would go ahead and give them a try to see how you like them, but once you're done there... give Farm Fresh Supermarket's deli section a try. We have been to this location twice and the food was pretty good both times. The first time we had fried and the second time grilled chicken. The chicken is flavorful but I would say the pieces are on the smaller side and for what you get probably a little pricey. The side dishes of green beans, coleslaw and baked beans are good too. Although we did not have dessert, they did look very good. It is an older location but it is very clean inside the restaurant and the restrooms also. The staff is very friendly. Funny, of all the things on the Pollards menu, the chicken is probably my least favorite. Don't get me wrong, the chicken is good--especially for what I guess can at least marginally be considered as fast food. But it don't beat that homemade, deep fried goodness that you can get at my mom's house or even a real soul food restaurant. The best thing about Pollards is the sides. Cornbread? Off the chains! I came here because a coworker recommended it. I ordered the fried fish sandwish meal with fried ocra and a bread pudding for desert. The fish sandwithish tasted okay but was very insignificant. One tiny fish fillet on a bun. The could have at least had the decency to put two tiny pieces. I mean i did wait almost ten minutes to get it so my expectations may have been high but that felt like a slap in the face. Oh and the bread pudding is actually the worst bread pudding ive tasted in my entire life. As far as flavor and texture goes it was a fail. This place was a huge disappointment.
