Out for wings.. Wing King dining area
Monica A.

Out shopping this evening, hubby decides to visit what once was his fav spot for wings. Just 200 ft away, he crosses 4 lanes to make the entrance. OH WOW. THIS MUST BE GOOD. My first time here, I'm thinking it's a dive, but ,let's be honest, some "Dives" have the best food. Welp, this was not. The outdoor dining area smells like it could use a good power wash, a wipe down of the tables and chairs. Through the first door. Dank smelling dirty carpet. Finally inside and I immediately want to leave. He's excited, so I grin and bear it. I go against what I normally have. Order takes 20 mins. After snapping a couple of pics, I got back to my car. Hubby retnd to the car with our order. Arriving home, and I do wish we had dined in ok the dirty tables. I wanted to through the entire meal in the trash. Hot q wings were just drizzled with sauce, I felt so bad for my wing connoisseur dry wings, just a little bit of wet sauce. My wings were, on the other hand, covered in some oily mess with flavorless parm. Fries overdone and bot even fresh, just warmed up, the fried pickles had to be deep fries at least 5 times. The inside was paper dry, and the cornmeal crust just fell off in the paper. trash! Sadly, the leftovers went into the garbage also. First and last time for me.

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat and was pleasantly surprised!! Our waitress was Rain and she was a delight and full of joy! Which is really nice to see in Virginia. I ordered the lunch special, I got half medium buffalo and chipotle. You can never go wrong with medium Buffalo but the chipotle was new for me. Rain said it is a favorite, and boy she wasn't wrong. I also got a side of fries which were fresh, hot and crispy. By far my favorite new fries. Very glad we found this gem for our wing cravings!

Great food, great staff, great vibes!!!…read more The Sunday pizza special brought us out, the warm weather and lake views were perfect. We loved our meal and LOVE any restaurant that serves Pibb which is hard to find here in VA! This is the best spot!!! Can't wait to come back!!!

Our server was Lauryn, and she was great. She was nice and attentive but not worrisome. We had the Wisconsin Cheese Curds along with the house made Sangria. As an entree, I had the whiskey burger with truffle fries. I really liked the cheese curds; they're a lot flavorful than traditional mozzarella sticks. The house made sangria was really good too! We had to stop ourselves from just sucking it down. The burger is where I had the issue. It was a little on the dry side.... Too well done despite asking for medium. It also wasn't seasoned well. The only flavor rally came from the bbq sauce and onion straws. The truffle fries were good though. The menu said they won't best burger of Virginia Beach, and that was made me get a burger. Not the best burger I've ever had. Next time, I will try the pizza and probably go to the Shore drive location since that is closer to my house. Again, the vibe, service, and scenery was worth the drive.. the food not so much.

Went here for dinner Friday around 10:30 pm. Had a 25 min wait. The inside was full and crowded…read more Our waiter was attentive all night long and our food and drinks all came out at decent times. Drinks: I tried the Grey Goose Strawberry Mule (10/10) it was soooo good! I was happy I gave this a try because it just might be my new fav drink. I also tried the Long Beach Tea (8/10) it was pretty good. Food: we shared some Chicken Nachos (10/10) we completely cleaned the plate. It was a great portion size, hot, fresh, and delicious; loved the flavors all together. I ordered the Spicy Jambalaya with linguine (10/10) yummy flavors, wasn't too spicy, and again, a good portion size. Tasted the Buffalo chicken pizza and it was actually pretty decent. I was very pleased with everything ordered for dinner. For dessert, we tried the Brookie (10/10) exactly what I needed and was craving. Cleaned the plate entirely. It was so good! Still top of my go to list! My overall rate of experience : 9.5/10

We stopped by Yard House for happy hour. When we walked in there was a fair amount of open tables,…read moreso I was happy it wasn't super crowded. Our server was Nathan and he was friendly and accommodating!! I like the amount of happy hour options compared to some other restaurants with just a few. We got burger sliders with fries, calamari, poke nachos, and chicken lettuce wraps. The calamari was ok but it was some very tough ones to chew and the portion was small. The tartar sauce that came with it was good and a little spicy. The poke nachos were decent, but I'm not a raw girly to often, so I'd definitely ask if it could be seared. I put it in the air fryer at home, and it was pretty good. My daughter enjoyed it!! The lettuce wraps were just ok, the chicken was kinda rubbery and chewy. The wonton shell was delicious though and the sauce was good. My sliders were supposed to be all the way with lettuce, tomato, onions, and secret sauce. But when they came to the table they were plain with no sauce. I started to eat and about 5 minutes later the food runner brought my correct order. They said they gave me the table next to ours food. So the waiter came back to take it back, and I asked if they'd throw it away? He said yes! Which kinda bothered me. I asked since it was going in the garbage and it wasn't my mistake, could I keep it. He said the manager wouldn't allow it. With inflation why would the manager rather trash perfectly good food? It makes me nervous when restaurants take food back. If it's sat down on a table it shouldn't be returned, just take the loss, because how do I know your not going to replace it and serve it to someone else. I'm not a fan of that!! I'm not accusing them of doing that, but that's the thoughts that run through my mind in situations like that. The table was spacious at the booths and it was clean inside. There's street and garage parking. We went on a good day when it wasn't a wait for a table. The hostess was very nice. She was cheerful and engaging! I'd go back to try other happy hour dishes. Check them out!!

Each time I drive south on Kempsville Road I have tried to locate it but failed. Today after visiting my favorite ice cream spot I decided on an early dinner and set my GPS for the restaurant's address. To my surprise it was extremely visible, sitting right at the entrance to Kemps River Crossing Shopping Center. Turn into the entrance from Kempsville Road and you'll see it sitting directly on the right. It was early. So we were able to immediately get a comfortable table and extremely prompt service. Our server remembered all my special needs. She answered my fiend's questions about her preferred wine choice. Our drinks were served very quickly. The menu was extremely interesting. There were different sections for differing tastes. The Lunch/Dinner Menu has sections for Sandwiches, Soups & Salads, Small Plates, Signature Burgers, Tavern Pizza & European Comfort Foods. The latter was where my interest lay. It was a really hard choice since I could easily have ordered many of the dishes on the menu. How could I choose between the British, German & Irish entrees? After much agonizing I finally chose German. My Jägerschnitzel, a German classic, consisted of hand-flattened pork loin fried and topped with traditional onion and mushroom gravy. It was served with kraut, warm potato salad, and green beans. The large portions were perfectly prepared. I was pleased with the choice. My friend ordered the other dish I had considered: Magners® Corned Beef & Beer Braised Cabbage which consisted of Magners® cider marinated USDA corned beef brisket, slow-cooked and thinly sliced in house, paired with braised cabbage and bacon, chive whipped potatoes, and whole carrots. This will be my choice the next time I visit. The food came very quickly. In fact, too quick. I like a little time to linger over my cocktail before the food arrives. I've now learned that next time I'll wait a little longer to give the server my order. Park Lane Tavern exuded the air of a happy place. I'm not quite sure how to describe it. It's a cross between a restaurant, tavern or very large comfortable diner. The closest restaurant I've found to this was a large cozy similar type establishment on the Jersey Shore, which was obviously a hangout for locals in the off season. The only thing missing at Park Lane was their roaring fire. But Park Lane has the better menu choices. There are distinctively different sections. We were in a section that consisted of regular tables and chairs, which is ideal for those of us with bad backs and titanium knees. :). But there were no televisions in the area. There were sections of high top tables, booths and large inviting looking bars. Televisions showing sports were visible in most sections. I'd like to try one of the different sections closer to the bar rather than to be immediately taken to the more comfortable section, obviously their section in which to seat people my age.:) After dinner I did a little research on the tavern. The establishment was designed to feature the elements of a European Tavern or Pub. It has succeeded well in replicating that feel. It offers the best of both American and European cuisine. The group, which also has Taverns in Hampton & Fredericksburg, features unique beverage offering with an extensive selection of draughts from around the world. In my opinion they have completely succeeded in their goal of providing atmosphere, design, cuisine and comfort. I can't wait to return and try the Corned Beef & Cabbage.

The bar is sexy! It's not a full U shape, but it's a good size. Plenty of seating and airy! If you choose to dine from the menu you can or you can order the buffet (next door) from Captain George's. I am not a fan of buffet's, so when I ventured out with my husbae and friends, I opted to order from the menu. I ordered a simple salad and the scallops for my meal with two sides. My meal was so good! The scallops were not free of grit, but it was limited. I would order the meal again. But my favorite part of the restaurant, is the atmosphere. I noticed sound boxes at the booths. We sat at tables in the center and I do not believe sound boxes are portable for those tables. The vibe was still cool! Usually checking out sports or anything on TV, no sound is really needed. If sound is needed, you would go to a quieter place, right?! Nevertheless, the waitstaff and bartender were on point throughout the night. This was a Wednesday night and it was still a pretty good crowd out. Surprisingly, but it was a good time and the waitstaff did not miss a beat! Check them out if you are in the area. Especially if you like an upscale bar atmosphere type vibe... this is your spot. Happy Hour specials on drinks and food are featured daily. I cannot wait to visit again :) Be safe ~ have fun ~ enjoy life :)
