I've driven by this place lots of times but hadn't stopped before. Today I was avoiding tunnel traffic and decided to pick up dinner otw home. Goggle gave several options to order in advance but no website. I checked yelp and the link took me to toast tab and listed a 45 min wait time. I had several people come in for pickup while researching from my car in the parking lot. When I went inside, there was no line and the cashier said it would only be able 10 min for an 8pc. He recommended okra, corn pudding, and Mac & cheese. I selected the last 2. There were benches to sit and wait for your to go order. There was also a dinning room to the right of the order counter. I'm not sure if they bring the food to you or call your name because no one was in the dinning room. There were kitschy sayings and pictures on the wall. While I was waiting, a gentleman came out of the restroom and told the.cashiers that they might want to check out the men's room because it was disgusting. The other cashier stated it's always that way. That's not exactly the attitude you want to see at a restaurant. Hopefully kitchen cleanliness is more important to staff. My food was ready shortly thereafter. The chicken had good. The Mac and cheese was the consistency of stouffers but I'm not sure if was made in store or Sysco variety. The corn pudding tasted better than it looked after being scooped out. There were fried puff biscuits that you can drizzle with honey. I didn't try any of the desserts but there were a lot to chose from.

After living in Hampton Roads for about 3 years, I finally had a chance to try Pollards chicken. I went with a 3 piece meal and they gave me all dark chicken, I guess they're a little bit short on white. I'm very glad that they had cinnamon apples as an option, way too few places have apples. I also got mashed potatoes and while they were very hearty and creamy, they were a little bit too heavy on the gravy for my liking. I ordered a large tea to drink and I asked for half sweet/half unsweet. Unfortunately the tea I got was completely unsweet. After a few minutes, the staff fixed that issue. The chicken was quite good, the skin is very crispy, the meat was juicy, although I couldn't really taste much in the way of spices and seasonings. But a little honey and hot sauce was decent enough. Good solid place.

    8 pieces to go please.

Hands down : it's the best fried chicken. The flavor is not only in the coating but also in the chicken meat itself. It's juicy and the white meat is not dry at all. Do yourself a favor if you enjoy fried chicken and eat the best.

It was just ok. The cashier had no problem cursing in front of me about the rude guest who left his mess on the counter after he ate like he had a maid. I thought he was a jerk, but I wouldn't have felt that comfortable to curse that much in front of another guest. She was mad. I understood. I just didn't need that in front of my young son. The boneless chicken breast sandwich was dry and so were my lovers and gizzards. The cook over cooked everything. I guess it was because she was so busy eating at the same time. I rarely come to this location. I won't say I won't go back. I will just try going earlier in the day. I made it about an hour before they closed.

Chicken Filet dinner... C'mon Man!!! That's a single chicken nugget. Wtf!

The Mac and cheese is awesome! The "chicken filet dinner" was not. Whoever put a nugget in there, the size of an onion ring needs to set-up an appointment with the optometrist. What did I do to deserve this kind of service? I ordered online... I wasn't rude... scratching my head.

Earlier this month while in Norfolk, we decided to Head over to Newport New to visit my Cuz and her daughter and agreed to bring lunch rather than calling in an order from their house. Chicken was a hit. We got two boxes of chicken and two boxes of sides. It was more than enough for the four of us with four or five pieces left over, i.e. tomorrow's lunch. Thank goodness there was little tunnel traffic and we arrived with hot chicken and sides. The hot chicken is the best part about Pollard's. The chicken is not cooked until it is ordered. The sides are well above average. COVID 19 rules are enforced. Parking is plentiful.

Rotisserie breast and a wing. SUPER SMALL! Compared to a quarter.

This review is solely for the rotisserie chicken breast/wing meal. I eat chicken often and this is with out a doubt the worst rotisserie chicken meal ever. It was so small it was comedic! The chicken was also dry. The sweet potato had little to no taste. We called to complain and the manager claimed "the chicken was cooked in the morning and we should have got an additional piece if it was that small." He also implied, they had a new person and he apologized. Sounds like poor training and even more POOR quality!! My favorite chicken wing place in Norfolk pays extra money to get better quality chicken from the food distributor. I challenge Pollards to do a review of the quality of their chicken (rotisserie).

More bone than anything on this chicken thigh.

The best pulled pork in the Tidewater area. Good puffs and fresh fried chicken. I usually eat at least one piece on my way home.

I enjoyed the Fried Chicken sandwich which also comes with boardwalk fries which are sinfully good. The chicken sandwich is a favorite with just the right amount of pickles, Surry ham, and arugula. The aioli is a nice and tasty addition to the sandwich. The Lobster Roll was also ordered at our table. It was enjoyed by the guest although it seemed like quite a small meal presentation especially for the price of $28.50. It was served on a small plate and just didn't look like a $30 dinner. We also ordered the Halloumi Fries which were underwhelming in size and taste. We love Halloumi so this was a bit of a disappointment. Our server was fantastic. A quick heads-up for first-timers: the turnoff for the parking lot behind the restaurant is easy to miss if you're relying on GPS. Several of us had to make a U-turn after the bridge. Thankfully, we had a reservation, which I highly recommend since the restaurant is not large. I'm not sure what prompted our host to choose LeGrand Kitchen, but every single one of us was glad they did. I honestly can't recall a single complaint from the entire evening. Despite our large group, the atmosphere never felt cramped. Instead, it was cozy and intimate, perfect for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or even a business meal. The menu offered a great mix of options, including both their regular menu and a seasonal specials menu, and several of us ordered from each. We shared a variety of appetizers, all of which were outstanding: pork belly with candied jalapeños, a salad with the most delicious pickled onions, a winter salad with goat cheese, pecans, and roasted squash, and pimento cheese. Every bite was a hit. Entrees ranged from regular menu favorites to specials, including the LeGrand Burger (which we later discovered was named one of Yelp's Top 100 Burgers in America), short ribs, tender and flavorful pork chops from the specials menu, and the ribeye. Every guest at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meal, so much so that we all took leftovers home. The server and kitchen were also more than willing to accommodate individual taste preferences by exchanging sides, which was appreciated by a few in our party. Dessert was just as impressive. We ordered a variety from the menu, including the Blonde, Atlantic Beach Lemon Pie, which was fresh, light, and absolutely delightful, Chocolate Pot de Crème, and Carrot Cake. Every dessert was outstanding. Our server was attentive and pleasant throughout the evening. Drinks were always full and plates were cleared promptly, and service never felt rushed or intrusive. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences our family has had in years. Bravo, LeGrand Kitchen, we will definitely be back!

Once I saw the daily specials, I knew exactly what I would order. The House-made Venison Sausage with White beans, Sea Island peas, kale, persimmons in country ham jus came with two large sausage links and an ample amount of the rest of the dish. It was a delicious mix, definitely enough to have served two. My son's entree was the Tile Fish with squash grocchi, mushrooms & brown butter vinaigrette. He proclaimed it excellent. We began the meal with appetizers. I chose the Grilled Cabbage with garlic yogurt, apples & castelvetranos. My choice was excellent. I finally got a chance to try Sloppy Sailors today through DoorDash. To give you the bottom line…read moreright up front,... WAY OVERRATED. I was highly disappointed. I ordered the Torpedo--which is essentially an Italian sub, The Chief--which is a burger, and vanilla milkshake. Not one item is anything I would ever order again. The Chief Burger - the patty was a hefty piece of meat, right on the verge of too thick. I could taste some light seasoning on the patty which I appreciated, but it could have been doubled. The patty was overcooked and dry, and the sandwich overall was very dry. Mine was missing any lubricating condiments. This burger was in desperate need of some mayonnaise or ketchup or more cheese or something to give it juiciness as a person who really loves smashburgers, this patty was really too thick and it was packed to tightly... It made it feel like it was heavy and sitting in your stomach, like a rock versus being a lighter more airy and tender type of patty. The top bun was sesame seeded, but dried out like it had been exposed to a heat lamp for too long (the bottom bun was fine). The Torpedo - this is an essentially an Italian with only two meats... Just ham and salami. It had all the right fixings for an Italian sub, and it matched the menu description; however, it just did not come together very well in my opinion. First of all the bread was thick and hard-ish (especially the top bread), making it hard to chew. I removed the top breads, and put the two bottoms together to make this easier to eat and cut out a few carbs at the same time. Lastly the Vanilla Milkshake - I had such high hopes for this based on reviews I had seen about it being a "real" milkshake, not from a mix, the time it took to make one etc. and alas, this too was a disappointment. Milkshake has hardly any vanilla flavor, and it was 75% foam -the effect you get when you overblend incorporating too much air and the shake had no body to it at all. It essentially dissipates on your tongue immediately without giving you the mouthfeel and satisfaction of the creaminess or even the coldness that one would expect from a milkshake. I took three sips from three different levels/areas of the cup to give this its best chance, but ultimately it was a two thumbs down experience. All in all, I deeply regret that I spent $35 having this meal DoorDashed to me... What a waste. I would still encourage anyone reading this review to try the restaurant for yourself, perhaps I caught them on a bad day. To give context, it was a rainy day, which perhaps means that There were more people using DoorDash than normal, and maybe they didn't get to make their food at the normal level of quality that they typically do, but I definitely caught them on a bad day or overall they are just overrated. Not sure which one and I doubt that I will try anything from them again. I tried my best to give them a decent opportunity to be great, trying something from a few different areas of the menu--nothing too exotic or complex--and every single item was a miss for me.
