The last time I set foot inside their Pleasure House Rd location was at least 10 years ago. I celebrated my birthday there as my friends were kind enough to take me out. It was a Sunday morning and I sought out a place that offered brunch. I noticed 1608 was open and decided to head over, especially since I haven't visited them in ages. When I walked in, I noticed their dining room is dimly lit - much darker than I remember. I was greeted immediately by a kind hostess and she proceeded to sit me at a nearby table and provided me with menus (one food, one alcohol). I took my time looking over the food menu, and in the meantime I ordered a pint of Center of the Universe's Bald Irishman and a bottle of Boylan's Black Cherry soda (they do not have a soda fountain). What made this visit memorable was that 1608's bartender, Hunter, was an old acquaintance from back in my restaurant days. He spotted me and came over to say hi. After my meal, I continued to catch up with him at the bar. His presence made a pleasant experience even more fantastic. I thought I was hungry, so I ordered 2 dishes - Smoked Ham Fried Rice and the Breakfast Burrito. According to Hunter, every item is made fresh in house. After biting into each, you could tell that's true. Both the fried rice and burrito were delicious and boasted lots of flavor. Although I prefer my fried rice a bit simpler (if you give me just garlic fried rice, I am SET), 1608's fried rice (veggies, garlic, soy, basmati rice, 2 runny eggs, smoked ham) had a lot going on, which made for a flavorful dish. I liked the rice and the burrito (Korean style fried chicken breast, scrambled eggs, cilantro lime, cheddar, pico de gallo) a lot. I didn't finish either because it was a lot of food (I really thought I was hungry, haha). But these leftovers turned into a fantastic dinner later on. 1608 looked clean and organized, although I thought it was a little too dark inside, at least for brunch service. That's not a dealbreaker since everything from the food to the service was as excellent as I remember. I hope to return soon with my mom. Regardless, I'll find my way back eventually. Thank you, 1608 Crafthouse! And great seeing you again, Hunter! JV

I enjoyed the Fried Chicken sandwich which also comes with boardwalk fries which are sinfully good. The chicken sandwich is a favorite with just the right amount of pickles, Surry ham, and arugula. The aioli is a nice and tasty addition to the sandwich. The Lobster Roll was also ordered at our table. It was enjoyed by the guest although it seemed like quite a small meal presentation especially for the price of $28.50. It was served on a small plate and just didn't look like a $30 dinner. We also ordered the Halloumi Fries which were underwhelming in size and taste. We love Halloumi so this was a bit of a disappointment. Our server was fantastic. She knew the specials and the happy hour deals etc for the night which I believe for us was 20% off of our glass of wine. She was friendly and prompt with everything. The ambiance is always nice here with dim lighting and a relaxing atmosphere.

To top it off we shared a pumpkin creme brûlée for desert. We had an amazing server who was really friendly and knew the menu by heart. She memorized all the day's specials alongside their prices and listed them off to us without any mistakes and even discussed in length what these food items were when we had questions. The prices are a little steep but the place is upscale and food is a bit on the fancier side. They serve authentic flavors and fantastic service and I think it's absolutely worth it. The space inside is small with a bar and has intimate lighting. Perfect for a cozy date with someone. There is also some outdoor seating as well. It is situated in the livelier part of Colley and sits right across Elation. It's nice to take a walk around afterwards to see what else is going on in the area! To the right of the restaurant they do have parking space but it is small and limited so anticipate potential street parking!

Truly enjoyed the kimchi fried rice, the dog had a lot of bun and slaw yet still hit the spot. Great vice within this place with some music in the background, not overpowering to have casual convos either at the bar or your table. Great for single dinner plan, date night or a group of friends. When arrived looks pretty much like former restaurant less decorations. Two groups seated about eleven persons. Bar was empty. Slowly filled two more tables and three or four at the bar. About 20 persons in total. Most of the visit, only single waitress serving tables and bar as long with busing tables. Kitchen is semi open. Only one person could be send in kitchen. Two persons only seemed understaffed for near full menu service and bar. No bus person, kitchen help, runner, or dish washer seen. Menu Asian fusion for lack of better term. Ordered scallion pancakes and spicy spring rolls. Service slow.... After ordering. Pancakes are one of my favorite snacks. Order portion size was large for appetizer. Scallion pancakes should be chewy with a flakey crust, savory with an onion punch from the scallions. These were chewy with no flakiness at all. Sort of like a flour tortilla with onion in the mix. The dip was like extra salty soy sauce spiked with raw ginger, strong and almost inedible. Then about five minutes later spring rolls arrived. Piping hot then down hill. First impression,, over cooked and greasy. Did not appear to have been drained. two small puddles of oil in dish below rolls. Sort of cross between lumpia and cha gio with appeal of neither. Noodles and meat wrapped together and fried. Favors muddled and greasy. Dipping sauce not much either. As a person who has sat through many food handlers permit classes. I witnessed a no-no with the waitress. Concerning.... It appears that disjointed service front to back needs improvement. Like location and ideas but without consistent execution it will likely fail in long run. Will be back?? Not likely Never say never. If still open this time next year?? Plus next block up there is very good ramen/Filipino/Vet place.

A quick heads-up for first-timers: the turnoff for the parking lot behind the restaurant is easy to miss if you're relying on GPS. Several of us had to make a U-turn after the bridge. Thankfully, we had a reservation, which I highly recommend since the restaurant is not large. I'm not sure what prompted our host to choose LeGrand Kitchen, but every single one of us was glad they did. I honestly can't recall a single complaint from the entire evening. Despite our large group, the atmosphere never felt cramped. Instead, it was cozy and intimate, perfect for a romantic dinner, a family gathering, or even a business meal. The menu offered a great mix of options, including both their regular menu and a seasonal specials menu, and several of us ordered from each. We shared a variety of appetizers, all of which were outstanding: pork belly with candied jalapeños, a salad with the most delicious pickled onions, a winter salad with goat cheese, pecans, and roasted squash, and pimento cheese. Every bite was a hit. Entrees ranged from regular menu favorites to specials, including the LeGrand Burger (which we later discovered was named one of Yelp's Top 100 Burgers in America), short ribs, tender and flavorful pork chops from the specials menu, and the ribeye. Every guest at the table thoroughly enjoyed their meal, so much so that we all took leftovers home. The server and kitchen were also more than willing to accommodate individual taste preferences by exchanging sides, which was appreciated by a few in our party. Dessert was just as impressive. We ordered a variety from the menu, including the Blonde, Atlantic Beach Lemon Pie, which was fresh, light, and absolutely delightful, Chocolate Pot de Crème, and Carrot Cake. Every dessert was outstanding. Our server was attentive and pleasant throughout the evening. Drinks were always full and plates were cleared promptly, and service never felt rushed or intrusive. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences our family has had in years. Bravo, LeGrand Kitchen, we will definitely be back!

This gives the appearance of being closed. Parking is limited and located behind the restaurant and the adjacent law office. When making reservations my son was told to watch for the law office. The restaurant seating is relatively small with a large, spacious bar behind a separating wall. We were greeted by a friendly & jovial host who immediately seated us. Our two person table was comfortable with padded seats. My seat was next to a window ledge which was the perfect spot for my purse. The menu options were an absolute "WOW". Once I saw the daily specials, I knew exactly what I would order. The House-made Venison Sausage with White beans, Sea Island peas, kale, persimmons in country ham jus came with two large sausage links and an ample amount of the rest of the dish. It was a delicious mix, definitely enough to have served two. My son's entree was the Tile Fish with squash grocchi, mushrooms & brown butter vinaigrette. He proclaimed it excellent. We began the meal with appetizers. I chose the Grilled Cabbage with garlic yogurt, apples & castelvetranos. My choice was excellent. But when I saw my son's Oyster Stew with potatoes & thyme, I immediately craved it. After the meal we first declined dessert. But I decided just to take a look. What I saw sounded amazing. There was no way I could pass up the Combread Pudding in Toffee sauce with whipped cream & encrusted with candled pecans. Begging my son to share it with me, he promised only to take a bite. When he tasted that wonderful concoction he changed his mind and shared. The Cornbread Pudding is absolutely amazing. The restaurant changes their menu often. The menu items are unique dishes that offer options you won't find elsewhere. There is absolutely nothing I found wrong with LeGrand Kitchen. It was perfection.

To drink, I tried their $5 Cranberry Crush (7/10) it was refreshing and slushy, but not strong at all really just a slushy juice and the Georgia Peach (10/10) loved the flavor and was a decently strong drink. To eat, we started with the Pork Rinds appetizer (10/10) they were definitely fresh and flavorful; I loved the sauce that came with them. I also ordered the Catfish basket (5/10) I was excited when this came to the table because it looked as though it would taste good and was a great portion size; however, it didn't meet my expectations at all. There was no flavor to the fish or batter and the Mac and cheese was very much the same way, bland. Though I am giving a lower rating, I would come back for drinks and to possibly try a different food. Feel like I must've ordered the wrong thing or the cook was having a bad night?
