On here it says "Tony's Deli," but the sign says "Deli and Diner" and it's in an old-school diner building. This is absolutely not a diner, and that's my issue. The good: very friendly service, good breakfast sandwich The bad: not at all a diner, nothing pork (I'm assuming a cultural reason--nothing wrong with that but when I think diner or even breakfast sandwich, that means real bacon and sausage, not turkey or beef. No table service. No water other than buying a bottle. Ambiance is cold and impersonal. Feels more like a neighborhood bodega. The ugly: worst coffee I've ever had. Grounds floating in it and vile flavor. We absolutely loved our meal! We ordered the loaded lamb fries and the lamb platter with rice. Everything is very well seasoned, filling, and the portions are great. Prices are also very reasonable. The people were friendly. It's brightly lit, and not very cozy, but that would be my only complaint. The food was such incredible comfort food that I quickly didn't care about the bright lighting! Tony's deli was very good. I didn't know what to expect but the food left me speechless. They stay busy with business. I'm from Cali so when I seen animal style fries on the menu. I definitely needed to order it. I also got the cheeseburger and the way the cheese melted with the Mayo, lettuce and tomato had an amazing flavor. We also tried the Philly cheesesteak on a hero and the flavor was different. The meat tasted fresh. The regular fries were good and portion size can feed two people. You can do fries or chips and there is so many options to choose from. You can also pick any drink other than the kombucha which costs a little more. Their lemonade options were cool. The mango lemonade was good, I've never tried this brand before. The place is roomy and clean. The inside gives a welcoming vibe. I will be definitely coming back again. read more

Treats a friend to lunch and she requested this place. I was pleasantly surprised how nice the inside was!! They have a small menus you can hold or take to your table to decide, a large menu at the register and an even bigger menu on the wall near the kitchen window. My friend wanted an egg and cheese on a roll. After checking Yelp I went with a chicken pesto wrap. I added spinach and raw onions to my wrap and got an order of curly fries. They have plenty of chip/snack options and drink options! I love cheerwine so I grabbed a cheerwine zero. I was given a buzzer while I waited for my order. It took about 15min which wasn't bad to get freshly ordered food. The fries were crispy and the ranch that came with them was good. The wrap while a little greasy, was good as well. Huge and packed full of ingredients. Definitely enough for two meals. Can't wait to go back and try different items. read more

The 'Club' Sandwich That Joined a Completely Different Club - A Food Tragedy in Three Acts I rolled into this deli with the wifey on a Sunday around 12:45 pm thinking, "Quick club sandwich, in and out, easy peasy." Oh, sweet summer child. Act I: The Menu Gauntlet There is exactly one menu and it's bolted to the counter like it's the Declaration of Independence. You have to wait for the entire population of the deli to finish ordering, pay, receive their food, take a selfie, and contemplate the meaning of life before you can even read the thing. 15 minutes later (yes, I timed it), I finally get close enough to discover they have a "Club Sandwich." Perfect. Act II: The Wait Place my order, sit down, start a new Netflix series on my phone. Finish two episodes. Contemplate writing my will. Finally the food arrives - 35 minutes later. Act III: The Plot Twist Nobody Asked For What is slid in front of me is... not a club sandwich. It is a cry for help between two hamburger buns. Ingredients: * Bread that clearly identifies as hamburger, not toasted, not club * Turkey (fine) * Turkey bacon (okay, I see you, halal life) * some sad, limp leaves of lettuce that looked like they had been sitting in the sun since the Obama administration * A tomato slice that was more decorative than functional * Zero trace of the third piece of bread that makes a club a club, not a sad turkey sandwich cosplaying as one My wife's Avocado Club was somehow worse: the avocado was apparently harvested from the Arctic tundra. Middle still frozen. You could've used it as a hockey puck. Nowhere--no sign, no menu note, no verbal warning--does this establishment mention it's a Middle Eastern/Halal spot. I'm not mad about halal (turkey bacon can be delicious), I'm mad about the stealth rebranding of a classic sandwich into whatever this identity crisis was. The curly fries were the only survivors--perfectly seasoned, hot, and clearly made by the only employee who showed up to work that day. Customer service: a shrug in human form. Ambiance: aggressive red-and-white checkered paper screaming "picnic," while the food whispers "we've never met a traditional American deli item we couldn't confuse." Final score: 1 star, and that star is entirely for the curly fries carrying the team on its crispy little back. Save your Sunday, your sanity, and your expectations--good luck! read more

My wife and I went to Tony's Deli on a random Monday night and loved it! I got the CR7 Sandwich with Animal style fries however I can't recall what she got! Both sandwiches were amazing! The shop is very cool they have a variety of drinks, snacks, and treats. The staff were also very friendly and polite. The only downsides to the visit was it did take a bit long for the sandwiches to come out considering there weren't many people and the food was more expensive than I thought it'd be. OVERALL GOOD EXPERIENCE would definitely recommend a try! read more

Different in the best possible ways! I lived in the Middle East for years, and the smells and taste of the spices instantly transported me back to those good days. Had the gyro--great; had the breakfast sandwich--delicious! And the staff was the most welcoming I've encountered since being back in the US. This is not just a burger joint, or an average deli with the usual menu...this is different and I highly enjoyed it. All things considered they are great place to get lunch. They aren't fancy or gourmet, they are a normal bodega style deli. All halal which is good for those who need halal food. Service was fast and other than that it didn't do anything wild or different. Wanted a Reuben, my bench mark, in any place that calls itself a deli. No pastrami? just corned beef. No rye bread either. Menu huge but lacks basic deli items. Ordered on white bread. Server was even unaware that they had sauerkraut? Service was average time. Now comes the major cons. Bread was mush from being soft white bread and not toasted enough. Corned beef was super thin and dry. No fat for favor, juice and tenderness. Servers were running around asking about orders trying to correct things. They are just trying to do too much and not stick to the basics. Need to follow "kiss" rule. Still missing not having a real deli on the southside like Mike's on Colley Ave or Reisner's in Janaf from years past. Almost $13 for drink and average sized sandwich. Unfortunately, they did not have the eggplant parm due to an issue with the DoorDash system. HOWEVER, they were so understanding when I requested a refund for the whole order (I was really in an eggplant parm mood or nothing at all lol). In addition, they still suggested I get another sandwich instead on the house. BK and Ali went above and beyond to sort out the refund issue promptly, so I commend them for the excellent customer service. It came with reassurance and sense of urgency. Previously was Tony's diner now Tony's deli. Wow what great food they have. We ordered monte cristo, Italian stallion, panini and my favorite GYRO YUMMMM!! Seriously the best I have had in a long time. I'm known for going a distance for a great gyro. It's a counter to order but very nice customer service. They've been open for almost 3 weeks now. If have not been you need to go. The gyro meat is incredibly good. Ambiance is a deli but very nicely remodeled. Looks very clean. read more

I ordered mozzarella sticks and the Halal Boy wrap. I requested sauce on the side to avoid it being soggy. But sauce was not on the side and well, it was soggy. Lettuce was soggy. So it was a tube of wet meat and slippery lettuce. The flavor of the halal chicken was good and the mozz sticks were great. Takes a while to get your order taken and to get food. I think it's because they're a brand new spot. Having said that, the food is really good! They have a wide variety of traditional diner food but also lots of Mediterranean influenced options. I got a cheesesteak and it had like a Mediterranean seasoning and white sauce which worked really well. The workers are also very polite. I would definitely recommend this spot! Ordered the Lamb Gyro combo with Sweet Potato Fries. Lamb Gyro was absolutly delicoius, the lamb was flavorful and the toppings mixed with sauce was perfect. The Sweet Potato Fries on the other hand where limp, undercooked and laked flavor. Would try next time with normal fries. read more

Dropped in for lunch. Although it took a long time to get our food, it was well worth the wait. Flavorful lamb and chicken over rice and onion rings that didn't have the heavy coating of breading you lose the onion in. Also, very tasty. The new owners and staff are still ironing out a few issues but I'm planning to go back SOON. read more
